Historic Scottish Folklore Audio Recordings

If you are interested in Scottish Folklore, you should visit the site Tobar An Dualchais. They describe it best:

"Tobar an Dualchais/Kist o Riches is Scotland’s online resource dedicated to the presentation and promotion of audio recordings of Scotland’s cultural heritage. Its principal content is songs, music, history, poetry, traditions and stories, recorded from the 1930s onwards. "

As well as insights into daily life, there are also wonderful stories on folklore. Here are some examples:

Kelpies/Each-Uisge

Fairy Mounds

They appear only during the Advent season. They are seen at night flying outside the windows and in the pasture. People utter a rhyme to mock at them, “Heerwisch, Heerwisch ho ho ho You burn like oat straw, And can hit me in a sudden blow! Many years ago a girl was walking by a swamp near Hänlein in the evening. She saw a will-o'-the-wisp dancing and called out the mocking rhyme. He flew towards her. The frightened girl ran as fast as she could to reach her parent’s home.  But the will-o'-the-wisp slipped in the house following her, continuously striking her with his fiery wings. As she fled into the main room, he too followed and flapped everyone on the way so hard that they lost hearing and vision. Then he flew up the chimney and started dancing on the rooftop like a fiery dragon. The next day, everyone in the home was turned black and blue from the will-o'-the wisp's blows. *Will-o'-the wisps inspired many stories of the supernatural. The phosphorescent light seen hovering or floating at night on marshy ground were feared as dead souls who did not find peace or place in heaven because of their sins during their mortal lives. Those could be once farmers who had encroached land of their neighbours or land surveyors who moved the actual boundary stones to alter the boundary of a land. In northern part of Germany these were believed to be the souls of anabaptized children moving restlessly. EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): I've been writing on Tumblr since 2012, but have been rping since 2004(?) (we don't talk about it)

BEST EXPERIENCE: The shattered AU Cathedral Verse was just....Some of the best writing I was ever part of as well as had me making some of the best of friends I could ever ask for that have kept me going through some of the worst of times.

RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: Godmodding and powerplaying. You can have all powerful characters without controlling someone elses muse. Half of the fun is seeing how other characters react to situations after all. Please don't tell me how my character is feeling or reacting.

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: I write all. Though I do love cute fluff, angst and plot development is always my bread and butter.

PLOTS OR MEMES: I'm okay with both, but I love a good plot. Plots are what get my creativity flowing the most.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I'll write both, but I'm a sucker for long form. It just lets you build more in a post and the environment and such.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: I'm a night owl so usually evening

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): Depends on the muse. Each muse I think has facets of me but I suppose Yugi and Atem(Mac) do have more similarities like my want to make sure others are happy and okay, not putting my needs first (I'm working on it) as well as my protective streak when coming to those I care about. Confrontation when it comes to me? I'll crumble. Confrontation involving a friend? I'll fucking fight to the death.
