Via Amazing Nature:
Photographer Angus James was fortunate enough to capture this shot. He said :
“As l was pulling my lure from the fish to release back into the water, l noticed two little eyes looking back at me from inside the fish’s mouth. After capturing this picture, the little green tree frog leaped straight past my head onto the nearest tree.
It was one of the coolest things l have seen in my life. This is one lucky frog !”🐸

A female European Honey Buzzard Bird was fitted with a satellite tracking system in Finland recently and was of particular interest to locals because it spent the most recent austral summer around the town of Reitz in the Free State in South Africa. She left Reitz to start heading north on 20 April and on the 2nd of June, she finally reached Finland where she will probably spend the boreal summer before probably returning again next season for a visit in South Africa. Here is an image showing the data received from the tracker which plots out the route that she took to head north... so, in just 42 days, she covered over 10 000 km at an average of more than 230 km every single day! Isn’t that just amazing...?!" What I find amazing is how she took a straight line north except for when she had to fly over water. (or Sudan) Edit: Apparently she turned right at the source of the Nile and followed it. I'm still fascinated by the fact that after that deviation she returned to the same longitudinal line she started on and continued until she reached her destination. #wildaware #animals #birds #nature https://www.instagram.com/p/CGwZ91Ds644LuexlQZOwRdkOG_tStIIY20uWXk0/?igshid=1692m2z8wqbhg

#Repost @wildaware @download.ins --- A new report published by the Changing Markets Foundation has shed light on the world's worst companies for plastic pollution. So who are the world's worst offenders for plastic packaging production and pollution? The report names Coca-Cola KO as the company with the biggest plastic footprint on the planet with 2.9 million metric tonnes of plastic packaging produced per year. Its biggest competitor, Pepsico PEP , comes second with 2.3 million metric tonnes while Nestlé is the third-worst offender with 1.7 million metric tonnes of plastic packaging produced. Five of the eight companies with the biggest plastic footprint are American with Nestlé (Switzerland), Danone (France) and Unilever (United Kingdom/Netherlands) the exceptions. The report only focused on companies that actually report levels of plastic packaging produced with Mondelēz and Perfetti Van Melle notably absent from that list. . . #wildaware #trash #litter #savethisplanet #plastic #trashplanet #trashtag #plasticocean #beachcleanup https://www.instagram.com/p/CFbDTXGBnOT/?igshid=1auuvo128xxia

Via @light.knowledge.power It's World Rhino Day 2019. The current rhino poaching crisis began in 2008, with increasing numbers of rhino killed for their horn throughout Africa until 2015. Thankfully, there has been a decrease in the number of rhinos poached across Africa since the peak of 1,349 in 2015. Yet, two and a half rhinos are still killed every single day: there is still a lot more to do. Elephantastic News - Kenya Announces Death Penalty for Poachers! #repost from @wildaware ・・・ ► Elephants and rhinoceros are among the most threatened species in Kenya, as their tusks and horns make them prime targets to poachers. ► It’s illegal to kill the endangered animals in Kenya, and the Wildlife Conservation Act, put in place in 2013, carries a life sentence or fine of $200,000 for offenders; however, the sentences weren’t acting as a strong enough deterrence. ► A much harsher sentence has now been announced: poachers in Kenya will face the death penalty; the measure has brought about both praise from those hopeful that the stiffer sentence will save the species at risk and backlash, from those opposed to capital punishment. . . #Wildography #WildographyandSafaris #AfricanSafaris #travel4conservation #elephants #WorthMoreAlive #wildliferescue #animals #animalrights #activist #racingextinction #wildlife #wildaware #rhinos #kenya #poaching #endangered #extinction

"Pears grown in Argentina, packed in Thailand and then sold in the United States." We believe that the geographical map is very explanatory of how much this system that we have created is definitely impacting the planet.Transporting a product for tens of thousands of kilometers means enormously increasing its impact on the environment in terms of CO2 emissions, then doing it to pack it in plastic is even more absurd. The best choice is always to buy local fruit and vegetables, in season and obviously loose. Do you agree? #wildaware #climatechange #savethisplanet https://www.instagram.com/p/CEDcLojl3g8/?igshid=13qx14v3iu866

Do you remember washing your car 20 years ago? Massive dragonflies and insects of all shapes and sizes splattered over the windscreen? The younger generations may not even know, but older people will surely remember that up until some 20 years ago any car trip on a late summers afternoon meant a windshield covered in dead insects. However, nowadays that doesn't happen so much, does it? It may sound great news—after all, who doesn't like to travel with a clean windshield? But what does it really mean? Doesn't that tell you anything? Scientists associate the dramatic decline in insect populations with industrial agricultural practices, especially habitat destruction and pesticide use. That decline, besides being a tragedy by iteslf, also affects the whole terrestrial ecosystems, such as the birds', reptiles' and amphibians' diet, pollination, etc. The collapse of the insect populations may be a forewarning of the collapse of the terrestrial ecosystems.. This is the critical decade for action in solidarity with life itself.

#Repost @wildaware —— Ants are ridiculously strong. They have the ability to carry between 10 and 50 times their own body weight! The amount an ant can carry depends on the species.
