A t-shirt from the Klonoa (Wii) and Wahoo's Fish Taco promotion. It is unknown if this was a shirt worn by employees or a prize given away in the related sweepstakes; although none of the prizes listed were t-shirts. The left sleeve has the restaurant's logo. The back of shirt says "Wahoooooo!" and advertises the now defunct promotional website for the game.

Physically, I'm at work.
Mentally, I'm at the Barcelona nightclub from the 2010 smash-hit Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo Wii.

why would someone be prompting you for your thoughts if they weren't prepared for Long and Convoluted
the klonoa games are like a series of shakespearean tragedies. like. god. tragedy in video game format
OK FAIR LMAO i have a tendency to get carried away with rambling because there are a lot of words and feelings stored in the me and if i am given any outlet i will explode (positive)
ohhh my god that's so accurate. i need to play lunatea's veil SO BAD i'm just stopping myself from doing it before i beat door to phantomile buuuut when i got phantasy reverie i had just finished beating klonoa wii and the entire like, last chunk of the game is such a pain, so i didn't really want to do it again. and then i never picked it back up. Whoops. but also i know LV's plot from watching a playthough years ago and i adore KoS and !! klonoa !!!! aaaaa!!!!!!!!
it was really fun playing klonoa wii with friends who were totally blind on it because they had no idea and i was constantly like. shoving my fist in my mouth. to stop myself from saying anything. because i'd catch any foreshadowing and start vibrating but i wasn't able to SAY ANYTHING and it was a wonderful experience. shoutouts to @wybienova for falling victim to my wizard curse

Ever since seeing the mural in Cress, couldn't stop thinking about it. And as assumed it was different in the OG game. Phantasy Reverie should have changed it again, but whatever.
Obviously its just foreshadowing Nahatomb and the 5 tribes, but I got no idea what the heart they added in Wiimake is meant to be... Klonoa? Ghadius? Kinda odd... Also not happy they put Breezegale higher up. (and at a slight angle?) The only change I like is the four eyes

i don't know if i said this before but klonoa gives me the vibes of a kid who hates wearing clothes for whatever reason and just wears them because being nakey isn't socially acceptable. especially with how his 9yrs-old original design doesn't have a shirt and his wiimake design has an open shirt, and then. in lunaveil his 13yrs-old design is wearing a shirt properly. that just screams "tween who is forced to wear shirts even if it feels bad because it is less socially acceptable to waltz around shirtless" to me
source: as a child i hated clothes so bad
THIS IS SO TRUE. everyone yelling PUT A SHIRT ON THAT BEAST while klonoa bites anyone that tries

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series initial thoughts and demo review.
Tumblr media
Alright the demo  for the Klonoa remakes was just released in Japan for Switch, Xbox, and Play Station. I created a Japanese account just so I could take look. Now I do have a few gripes both for the demo, and the cut scenes floating around the internet right now; (mainly for Klonoa 2 Lunatea’s Veil), but uh yeah, let’s talk about it
So before I discuss the demo, I wanna go over my thoughts on the graphics and such. Klonoa Door to Phantomile looks pretty good. Everything is bright and charming, and if basing it strictly on the Ps1 original, it is a complete face lift. (Though in the remake there is a pixel filter to make it look more like the original if you wish.), now with that being said,  graphically it’s comparable to the Wiimake, the assets from the wiimake have been touched up, but the quality of the graphics remains the same, which is kinda a bummer given that the Wii version came out 10 years ago, but I digress. It still looks fun and bright.  Now cut scene wise, the cut scenes are still done using character models. Thankfully Klonoa’s model in this remake is way more expressive than the wiimake, though in my opinion, it still doesn't look quite as nice as the PS1 pre-rendered cut scenes, but besides those few gripes, which I can look past, everything looks pretty nice in my opinion. The brightness is nice and really works, for the first stage. It also isn’t overused which is something I can’t say for the second game.
And that brings us to my initial thoughts and impressions on the remake of Klonoa 2 Lunatea’s Veil. I’ve been looking at the cut scenes and man, I’ve been utterly disappointed. At least with the first game, I’m still charmed by the cut scenes and graphics, but as for Lunatea’s Veil, it’s a downgrade in my opinion. Everything is way too bright, to the point that it obscures details. I can’t help, but feel that the PS2 original that came out 20 years ago, looks better than the remake, which is disappointing to say.  If they just toned down the bloom effect or the brightness just a bit, it’d look fine. And honestly, despite the brightness being terrible, it still looks fine in some places, and I don’t think it’d be a problem for people who haven’t played the originals.
Now on to the game play. The demo includes the first two levels from Door to Phantomile, including the cut scenes, plus a random level from Lunatea’s Veil La Lakoosha. I wish they would have included a hover board level as well, but that’s more just something I wished for, rather than a real gripe. Gameplay wise the graphics look rather nice on both games, and the controls are the same as the original, but it feels a little stiffer in my opinion. I also noticed some video lag as well, which may have played a part in the stiffness. Despite that I enjoyed playing both, and feel that I could chalk it up to it being a demo, and the fact that I was playing on handheld mode on the switch, which isn’t quite as powerful as other systems. Like I said, despite the minor problems, I still have had a blast and have played the three levels several times.
So overall yeah, I had some problems and gripes with the remakes, but overall, it’s still an enjoyable experience, I hope the problems I had with it, gets patched out before the game is released on 7/7. I beg you, whoever is reading this to check these games out. Klonoa as a whole is such an underrated series and doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It already doesn’t help that the game isn’t getting a physical release in the US. So please support it once it comes out, and maybe we’ll finally get a Klonoa 3!

Okay, so:
In the Wiimake, Klonoa narrates the beginning cutscene, where he muses on his dream: Door to Phantomile. (We can assume these are still Klonoa's thoughts in other versions of the game.)
Phantomile is a land of dreams. Klonoa is from Phantomile, but his Phantomile is different; and, Huepow states that Klonoa's presence in the Phantomile he was brought to is like a strange dream. Ghadius refers to Klonoa as a strange dream, and Granny/the Chieftess says something about, "The Dream Not Of This World..."
...How different is Klonoa's Phantomile? We know the events of the game never happened in Klonoa's Phantomile as Klonoa's musings refer to it all as a dream.
And is Klonoa's Phantomile still a land of dreams? Or is it as grounded in reality as a world of anthropomorphic animals can be?

I'm both shocked and over the moon that Klonoa is returning, but that in mind, is it now socially acceptable to say I always thought the Wiimake was kinda ugly?
I think parts of it are kind of ugly, yeah. Like I've said before, Namco seems like they didn't really get the results they were hoping for with Klonoa, so they were always trying ways to expand his mainstream appeal. Even if that meant sacrificing some things about the style or personality of those games.
So, yeah. Klonoa's new outfit in the Wii Remake was a little busy. He was a little overdressed. And the visuals were a little desaturated, though I really do think that was done to make it better line up with the way Klonoa 2 looked. The Wii Remake keeps Klonoa's more grown-up proportions from KL2, so I think they were going for a naturalistic look instead of vibrant color.
Where I'm not so sure if I like it is in the cutscenes. The newer cutscenes are better produced, and feature more dynamic camerawork, but something about them doesn't hit quite as well. Especially if we're talking one of the game's rare pre-rendered cutscenes -- obviously the Wii visuals were a noticeable step down, there.
And, um, they still will be, sadly. I'm actually most concerned about the changes to the lighting engine for the cutscenes, because I think that's one place where things like proper shadowmapped lighting would help the most, and that's one of the things the newest Remaster seems to be lacking.
