doing a. um. I'm making a splatoon 3 infection au HAHAJHSAJGDHDGS
I've been developing it slowly over the course of a few weeks but it's still a very early work in progress. and it's also extremely self-indulgent and a lot of the concept art is very strange when out of its complex context urghhhhhg
but here is some of them anyway LMAOOOOO (along with some random lore drops)
first up we got the 3 main protag ocs
miiight chance sushi's outfit at some point idk
this blue fish looking one is Edonne and she's apart of an ancient race of stonefish people. she was held frozen in time in a digital world, which is why smollusk is there too hgdjgd. they have a younger brother + older sister dynamic. and of course, being frozen for thousands of years, she's the very last of her kind.
this is an O.R.C.A design HDGSHGS
this isss.....the villain???? the bad guy??? but he's also got some good points its very complicated (just like his relationship with mr. grizz) but I mean he does go insane and die at the end soooo L (he looks so freaky bc he's a snow leapord mammalian that got infused with and extremely mutated by salmonoid dna. and the mental illness is because he adapted himself into salmon society/culture and basically became accepted as a 4th king for a while)
this oneeee is. really upsetting actually. uh... so in the au, the virus (which also has like "ancient curse reawakening" things going on with it. don't ask.) started in all the salmonoids and then they raided and took over the towns and cities n stuff as zombies. like with no warning. and lotsss of ppl got murked and zombified. INLCUDING. pearl, shiver and frye. pearl got caught in a crazy unavoidable drizzler-on-steroids aoe attack that marina couldnt save her from, and shiver and frye stayed behind on purpose to protect big man, promising him they'll meet back up with him later when the wave was over. they uh. didn't do that. and uh, shortly after, marina and big man found each other, bonded a lot through their shared grief, and stuck to each other's sides as a new duo (I'm thinking of naming their duo "calamantari") and they would also eventually be found by and join forces with the NSS (consisting of callie, marie, captain 3, agent 4 (who gets zombied later on tho oops), and agent 8) (neo 3 got murked </3)
I tried making something in the style of those little lineless icons that appear in the text boxes in game HDGSHGS
also yea these two IDIOTS were the ones who started this. this au kinda deletes the canon S3 story mode and becomes the new story mode in a way, bc grizz didn't go into space and explode. (I'd imagine the reason why tartar is here is bc a year or two after that failed attempt to end the world, grizz found him and rebooted him lmaoo). before the main story had a chance to happen, they both found that digital space in alterna where edonne was and were like "hey maybe we can enhance our evil goops with this literal deadly ancient fish venom to make it more powerful :)" and uh. it didn't really. work out. because instead they started a zombie apocalypse. anddd,, grizz was kinda like the "patient zero" and tartar literally had to sanitize him to stop the infection and also stop grizz from killing him. so that also sucked. and they kinda got lowkey sad and pathetic after that bc literally every single thing they had ever worked for was literally just ripped from their hands. and they also get that "my god.....we messed up so bad" remorse (mostly bc it didnt go their way and literally everything went so wrong). and they ally up with the 3 protags and uh.💥
anywayyy that's. abt it?? I may not bring this up again bc I get rlly insecure abt crazy aus like this for some reason. but it's been literally all I can think abt in relation to splatoon lately. I've been hyperfixated on it MORE than actual canon
