Trope Tuesday: Enslavement

As dark as this theme might be, I got a bunch of requests asking for stories revolving around enslavement. Again, me as a reader, I fully straight-on condemn this in real life (which is again odd as a whumpaholic overall), but what I love reading is that struggle during captivity, the risks and suspense of escaping, and most importantly, the long physical/emotional recovery... The stories below were one of the best I’ve read for this trope, others were either to violent and gory, or the character would simply fall too deep into Stockholm syndrome. I love it when the character is broken, but still has that sense of self to put himself back together again... Anyways, enjoy!

I LOVE THAT YOU WHUMP! Give me all the whump!

Ahhhh my people 😍 I seriously grew up thinking I was messed up because I adore whump, and then I met fandom 😂 (My mother was once afraid child services would be called if anyone read an X-Files fic I wrote when I was 12 — at the time the longest and most exciting thing I’d ever written, and although it’s horrendously cringeworthy now, her refusal to read it beyond the first few pages and pure disgust still stings me).

All I know is you can’t have comfort without the hurt, and with two men as buttoned up as our duo, sometimes you need near death experiences and pain and blood and tears to squeeze out confessions of love. And I am soooooo here for that.

I’m working on a Christmas fic right now, which, while fluffy, also has a generous dose of whump and angst because... well, because it’s me writing it 😂
