Okay I'm currently on season 3 of Drive To Survive and I just have one thought: How pissed was Lewis Hamilton back in 2020 with the FIA? I mean he got so many penalties it's kinda crazy😂 Not gonna lie, I think he made his opinion pretty clear on the FIA's decision during covid so I can just picturing him going "Screw the rules". Low key love that for him, I can't stop thinking about it😂 I also adore Gasly, he just really went out there and said, I'm gonna show Red Bull they made the wrong decision and I love that for him! Also, Christian not admitting they made a mistake, and being like, we want to give space to Alex when they dropped Gasly MID SEASON is just one of the many reasons I don't like him. That and him mentioning "Verstappen" every other sentence that comes out of him. And reporting Mercedes. Actually, it's a long list so I'll stop now.

Also, there is a channel in my country that shows the race so I saw it on Sunday and I was watching the comments on twitter as well. Everybody was saying how boring the race was and I was just at the edge of my seat waiting for Hamilton to get past Sainz (really pissed that it didn't happen). Also loved the fact that Max couldn't catch up to Perez, I have to admit I don't like either of them very much, but I really don't like Max so I didn't really mind (please don't come at me, I just don't like him). Also loved Charles he is amazing( I just watched the episode where Ferrari dropped Vettel and I'm a little pissed at that, I really liked him and Charles as team mates).

Also, on the channel back in my country they send a reporter there who kinda gives a tour of the faculties and as he was talking Hamilton passed him and he just stopped talking for a minute and then continued. Personally, I would have dropped everything and ran behind him, rip him but I'm a hoe first and human second.

Okay, that's it for now, also read the latest FMF chapter and I absolutely loved it, I think it's one of my favourite chapters you have ever written and oh god THE VISUALS, sometimes I wish your fanfics were movies because the scene with David standing behind Max, I could just picture it and seriously needed a moment to myself after reading it. Many thoughts about it that I will share with you later. I'm sorry you have a tough month ahead of you, I hope it gets better. Sending you strength and love to get through it(and this real of the cuttest little kitty on earth )🌷🩷

Fuck the FIA. Seriously. Fuck them. They just love to hate Lewis. Like those bitches banned him (and all drivers) from wearing jewelry instead of fixing actual shit that needs to be fixed (not Lewis getting a new nose stud lmao love him). This race was 'comparatively' more boring than the other ones. Because that track is a tricky one and we expected more crashes (safe ones!) and drama. You should've seen the Aussy GP (the one before this!!) it was total chaos! I hope you watch the rest of the races too!!! I really wanted Lewis to overtake Sainz too and god he tried so hard but he just didn't have the pace. i hope that car gets better with the season!!!!

Newey gave an interview after which I have "WTF who agreed to this"

In 2026 he predicts the cars will be faster in Monaco than in Monza! After the new engine regulations, there may be problems at circuits like Silverstone, Monza or Baku, but Monaco will be perfect for the new generation of engines 😵‍💫

Who came up with it anyway? All the circuits they have recently added to the calendar are mostly straights and some corners. Sometimes I think they're doing everything they can to destroy the sport.

As the bio says, you can talk about absolutely anything here. I don't specialize in gossip at all. We can even talk about art if you like, we can talk about the art works Alexandra posts on her account. Like I said, I think it's really cool that she has an account like this. ☺️

It's a nice change from the other wags who bombard us with failed photoshoots or partnerships to show off their boyfriend's wealth. 💀 My account is open to everyone. Fans who don't necessarily like all the engineering and who just like the conduit of race. Little gossips. Absolutely everything. I can't do all the work myself, so people need to ask on other topics too if gossips are bothering us. Just to clarify that in relation to the beginning of the question.

For the rest, I really believe that all these organizers are totally lost in the turn F1 is taking. The gulfs that are being created between all the teams are finally causing the whole notion of sport to be lost. That's why I think that today, when people are told that F1 is a sport, they find it hard to believe. Everything that should help performance’s in fact censored under the pretexts of safety, money and organization. Of course, money is the watchword in this sport. But it would be wrong to put all the blame on it. I think the engineers directors are moving too fast in terms of engineering, but some censor themselves cause of the FIA that doesn’t know how to make the rules. Then the FIA or whatever are trying to maintain a level playing field that's lost in advance. The proof is in their sanction on Redbull. They're performing so well that almost everyone has forgotten that they were given a wind tunnel time penalty.

I'm sorry to say that many circuits haven't evolved in centuries. And the new ones are a bore, camouflaged by the spectacle of the stars.

There's so much more I could say about what I'd like to see for the future of the sport. But that would be too utopian and would touch on the whole history of motor sport. So I'll keep quiet. But on the other hand, I don't see how things are going to improve unless we radically change the rules.

2009 Hungarian GP

Right so. 7 days before that race, F2 driver Henry Surtees died during a race, at the very young age of 18. He was hit in the head by the wheel of another car that had spun and hit the wall.

And then, during quali, Massa had a horrific accident, in some ways similar to Henry’s. Barrichello’s rear suspension started coming apart during his lap because of what seems to be a bolt failure. A spring weighing about 1 kg fell off at high speed and bounced on the track, hitting Massa, who was behind Barrichello, in the head. We do not know if it knocked him unconscious as the brakes were partially locked up but he didn’t turn the steering wheel anymore and hit the tyre wall straight on. He was still on the throttle at that time. He was then stabilised in the car and taken away. If I understand correctly, there was a dent on the outside of his helmet but the inside was structurally intact. The visor came detached.

In the medical centre, it was noted that he had a deep cut across his left eyebrow. He was conscious when he arrived at the hospital, the Ferrari press officer say. The check-up showed bone damage on the skull above his left eye and a concussion. He had to undergo surgery. I read online he was placed in an artificial coma at some point. However at the time of the broadcast, we learn the surgery went well, he’s in stable condition and in intensive care. Another CT scan showed no problem. His family has arrived from Brazil and he was conscious and is now resting.

Brawn is very seriously investigating what happened to Barrichello’s car, of course. Ross Brawn explains they don’t have a complete explanation yet, and this has certainly never happened before.

So yeah. No halos at the time, you know?

Quali report : Toro Rosso has a new driver?! Jaime Alguersuari. I guess he’s taken Bourdais’ place then? Anyway he’s last on the grid. Of course, Q3 was delayed after Massa’s accident and while Brawn and the FIA checked Barrichello’s car and double-checked Jenson’s, who is 8th, for any weaknesses. Lewis is 4th!!! So the car is better?! The official timing system then went down, so nobody knew what the grid was. Alonso went around asking people I guess what their times were? and he figured out he was on pole. Webber is 3rd. Seb is 2nd. Also this might just be Piquet’s last GP, too.

And they’re racing!

Wtf, Raikkonen just swerved into Lewis? He’s 3rd though! Go my boy! Seb, down in 7th, radios possible front wing damage. Ah lol, guess who touched his car? Raikkonen. LEWIS OVERTAKES WEBBER HE’S 2ND I’M GONNA CRY FROM RELIEF BUT ALSO I’M AFRAID TO HOPE.

He’s quicker than Alonso in the lead too!! Even though he’s carrying more fuel!!! I’m so happy this is ridiculous. He asks on the radio if he needs to save his fuel. The team says “no, it’s up to you”. They tell him he’ll catch him if he keeps up the pace though. The gap is closing quickly for sure! He gained half a second on him in a lap! He’s 1.5 seconds behind.

ALONSO PITS ON LAP 11! That’s way earlier than expected but also it means LEWIS LEADS. Oh wait. Alonso’s wheel is loose??? What’s going on. Yep his team is back in the pit waiting for him. OMG THE WHEEL WENT OFF, IT’S BOUNCING AWAY ON THE TRACK. A WEEK AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO SURTEES AND A DAY AFTER MASSA’S ACCIDENT?! Oh god oh god oh god. Thankfully it went off the track quickly. Alonso carries on to the pits on three wheels (which I thought was illegal btw?) while Lewis makes the fastest lap.

On lap 20, Raikkonen and Webber pit. They almost collided in the lane as they went back out! There might be a penalty for RedBull there. Lewis pits from the lead! It will be a three-stopper. AAAND HE’S STILL IN THE LEAD! The team tells him to now look after his tyres.

Oh, Seb has to retire. Suspension problem, probably due to that contact with Raikkonen in the first corner. That’s kinda crazy for the championship though. Jenson is not doing well, Brawn is not as dominant as they were at the beginning of the season, and now Seb is out.

We’re halfway through now. It’s really looking good for Lewis. He has 7 seconds on Raikkonen and the team tells him the pace is good. 24 laps to the end, second pitstop. It’s quick and straightforward, he’s still in the lead, 2.7 seconds ahead of Webber, this time.

10 laps to go, all is good.

And it’s the end of the race!

LEWIS WINS! Nicole is crying. The whole team is crying. They thank him on the radio. He says great job! “You guys worked so hard for this and I’m so glad we could do it this weekend. So so proud of you guys. Thank you, thank you.”

He hugs Martin Whitmarsh, the emotion is palpable. Shakes hands with Raikkonen.

The smile, the sparkle, I’m so emo don’t talk to me.

He empties the champagne bottle on Martin who’s trying to hide behind the trophy, my heart is full.

Press conference! It’s an incredible feeling to be back here, he says. It was such a struggle and he’s so proud of the guys, they never gave up. The car felt fantastic. He’s so happy!

Later on, he says it’s a huge turn around. At the beginning of the season, they said if anyone could do it, it’d be them. Also they did estimate they were 6 months behind the leaders and 6 months later, here they are.

He says of course if they had this car from the start they would be winning, but it wasn’t the case. He hopes the guys at the factory get a good break over the next few weeks because he knows they are knackered. He knew the car was good in Germany (but as we know he couldn’t show it because of the damage he got at the start).

He says that weekend (in Germany) he unfortunately left the radio open while yelling with excitement in the car and the team heard him and then played it for the guys at the factory which is the most wholesome thing ever. He hopes it was at least good motivation for everyone!

He says they knew they had pace for a podium but didn’t expect to win.

Also just a technical note. What’s happening here is actually that McLaren and Ferrari, unlike all the other teams, decided to opt for the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) which is a braking system that stocks the kinectic energy that can then be released by the push of a button, basically offering a boost during an acceleration. This is how Lewis was able to have such an amazing start. All the other teams gave up on it because it was too expensive to develop and also very heavy. However, this race might just be a turning point of the championship from a technical standpoint because the KERS is now getting serious results.

2007 European GP

Okay so hear me out. This race was so chaotic I have to cover it in 2 parts because there’s too many GIFs for one post.

So here’s PART 1 - The race build-up and the first lap (yep. you read that right. just the first lap.)

We’re in Nürburging. Oh ! It’s the time he crashed in quali. I’ve seen videos of this crash before. It’s the awful one where you can see him moving his leg in the car frantically after he’s hit the barriers. And then he waved to the crowd from the stretcher to let them know he was okay.

We can see Anthony talking to the journalists after quali. He says Lewis is fine and wanted to jump right back in the car. Louise asks him what he said about the accident. “We haven’t talked about it.” What was he talking about ? “Where he’s gonna start on the grid.” He smiles. He’ll start P10.

Now we see Anthony live, confirming Lewis is indeed okay (he’s been seen by doctors at the hospital of course), he’s just bruised up. To let him rest and focus, Lewis isn’t doing media duty during the build up.

Ooooof it’s really hard watching this crash at normal speed. And then the images of the marshalls making him lie down on the ground eeeesh.

On the Ferrari Sabotage Drama front, it’s episode 3. McLaren has been called to answer charges in a FIA hearing in Paris. The charge goes as follow : “between March and July 2007 [...] Vodafone McLaren Mercedes had unauthorised possession of documents and confidential information belonging to Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, including information that could be used to design, engineer, build, check, test, develop and/or run a 2007 Ferrari Formula One car.” Said documents are the ones that Stepney allegedly gave Coughlan, as we heard last episode. McLaren says that Coughlan, now suspended, was the only one who laid hands on them (mmmmmh 🤔) but they could still be held responsible for his actions. If found guilty, they could get a reprimand, a fine, or even WDC points deduction for their drivers, aka Lewis (who as you recall is leading the WDC) and Alonso (who’s 2nd in the standings).

Of course Nürburgring being homerace to Mercedes who are partners to McLaren, Lewis and Alonso took a ride in a 1927 Mercedes Benz sportscar.

And Michael Schumacher is back advising Ferrari. The commentators are kinda rough about him and what he’s doing now that he’s stopped racing and...

....Anyway.

The drivers are now on the grid and some teams are expecting rain and some teams aren’t. Quentin Tarantino is here? Why. Hakkinen is here too. He’s not worried for Lewis and thinks he can end up on the podium anyway.

Raikkonen is pole but he’s had bad luck at this GP these past few years. The journalists inform us that he brought along his 80-year-old grandmother for luck. Seriously wtf is this sport anyway. Who are these people. Why is everything so weird everytime.

More info about Lewis’ crash arrive. 20G. The McLaren doctor says it actually wasn’t that bad but knocked the wind out of him which is why he took so much time to get out of the car.

Formation lap. The possibility of rain is still discussed. Oh here we go! It starts raining on certain sections of the circuit as the formation lP is under way. That’s gonna be interesting. Of course they’re all on dry tyres...

The two BMWs collide in the second corner! Lewis has gained many places but he’s struggling with grip and might or might not be involved in the collision. Oh he IS involved, he has a puncture! How unfortunate. He was up to P4 but now back to P9. A Redbull is in the gravel trap! It’s Coulthard who manages to get back on track. It’s definitely raining and the track is slippery. More contact! Another car runs wide. This is so chaotic. Apparently two cars also spun at the back. I cannot convey the chaos properly. I usually watch these races on 1.5x speed or even 2x when it’s the middle of the race and nothing is happening. I’m watching this one at normal speed and I have to hit pause every 3 seconds to write down what’s happening. Just to be clear we’re still not done with the FIRST LAP at this point.

And we’re getting close to the pitlane... No less than the first 4 cars are pitting. But Raikkonen at the front who already just missed a chicane runs wide right as he gets in the pitlane and FUCKING MISSES IT!

HE HAS TO STAY OUT FOR ONE MORE LAP ON HIS DRY TYRES BECAUSE OF IT!

Almost all the cars are pitting at the same time it’s absolute chaos look at that little train

Lewis of course pits, right behind Alonso. How are they all gonna manage to go back out without colliding at the same time.

........And that was only lap 1. 😐

2007 Monaco GP.

(As a disclaimer those are just my thoughts throughout the race. Don’t expect anything. But I make GIFs !)

My God this build up starts with basically a fancam of Lewis also sexualised women and casino stuff. Embarrassing.

A guy named Steve Rider is talking to the camera on a boat flying a Swedish flag ?

Anywyy. It’s Alonso pole, Lewis P2. Apparently the fight for the pole was really tight. Raikkonen crashed in quali. We see Gordon Ramsey and Jude Law (not together obviously).

Now an other journalist is talking to Coulthard while they’re sitting on motorcycles ? I’m confused.

Oh they’re going around on a ride. OK sure. Whatever.

Images of a red carpet and movie stars but like. From another day/night at some movie premiere or something? Confused. A fashion show now? Wtf is going on during this build up.

Ah here’s Lewis ! He talks about the practice sessions and qualifying. He says : “I’ve kissed the barriers a couple times. I’ve French kissed the barriers on Thursday.” He chuckles.

What a start ! Lewis tucked behind Alonso right away to keep Massa at bay.

Oh wait what do you mean 78 laps ?! 😩 Also how many DNFs this time ?

Ah here we go, the first one to hit the barriers is Liuzzi, just one lap in. Yellow flags. Alonso slows down way more than necessary, Lewis is right behind him. But a couple of laps later he’s pulling away again. Raikkonen is far away in 12th.

Lap 10, Alonso is already 4 seconds ahead. Webber is retiring ? 4th time in a row apparently.

20 laps in, Lewis is picking up the pace but Alonso is 7 seconds ahead. (You can tell this race is boring by the fact that my commentary is jumping 10 laps at a time.) He’s now stuck in traffic for 3 seconds, and Alonso is accelerating too.

Lap 25 : Alonso pits, Lewis has gained 3 seconds on him. He’s leading but how much fuel does he have left to create a gap before pitting? Massa in 3rd has also already pitted. Lewis is fastest lap again and again.

Lap 28 : he pits. He told the team to take pressure out of the back tyres cause he think he can go faster (?). Alonso has 4.8 seconds on him.

Lap 40 : nothing is happening ? Idk i’ve stopped paying attention tbh. At the time I’m watching this the 2021 FIA Gala is happening and it’s a mess and the posts on tumblr are more interesting than this race. Alonso is 7.5 seconds clear of Lewis anyway. It’s bound not to get much more interesting than that. And we’re only halfway through. Alonso and Lewis are just playing who can go fastest by themselves ahead of everybody else and Alonso is winning.

Kovalainen has a puncture.

You can definitely tell the difference that experience made on Lewis’ driving though because in 2007 the talent is undeniably here but he’s doing one good lap then one not so much etc. When you think of how consistent he is now, it’s such a contrast.

Alonso has pitted so Lewis is leading again on lap 51 but he’s slipping around because his tyres are in bad shape so he pits and Alonso’s back P1.

Someone else DNF’d ? Idk. We’ve seen a car behind pushed behind the barriers. They also pitted a third time while I wasn’t watching maybe ?

Lap 65 : Lewis is struggling more and more, the car is all over the place. Oh wait Lewis is not so far behind Alonso again ? I guess they did pit. The gap is just 2 seconds. My God I’m bored. Alonso is still way too fast for Lewis. The experience is talking. Lewis is bound to sound frustrated in the interviews.

5 laps left. The driver in fourth (don’t know who it is) is lapped by the McLarens which tells you just how fast they are that weekend.

And it’s the end of the race. 1-2 for McLaren.

Prince Albert is handing the trophies right away. Lewis is smiling but you can tell he’s disappointed.

Ah now let’s see if the Spanish anthem is as long as the Brazilian one... 1mn30. Long but not as long as the Brazilian. Oh they’re playing a second anthem ? I have no idea what it is ? Monaco’s maybe ?

So Alonso and Lewis are tied in the WDC standings but Alonso is leading because he won 2 races and Lewis none.

Anthony is interviewed. It was very close, great start. They agree that McLaren had to make sur they had the 1-2 and it was not worth pushing Lewis behind Alonso with the risk of one of them crashing or something. He says Lewis won’t be frustrated but quite happy (but we all know it’s a lie). He says it would have been tough overtaking Alonso who drove brilliantly and you have to give credit where it’s due.

Istg the whole broadcast is only about Lewis.

Lewis says : “Yeah I hit the barriers plenty of times in the race. It was fortunate I had a solid car, the team did a great job as usual.”

My boy. Stop running into walls maybe ?

He says he had to yell in the radio to have the traffic blue flagged. He tried to push Alonso to make a mistake but he’s two-time WC and he doesn’t make mistakes and he’s done a great job.

It’s kind of funny to hear knowing what happens the next 15 years.
