Nonnnyyy!! Thank you for giving me the chance to talk about something I've wanted to talk about for a while, which is how good MA's acted kisses are. And it's good acting too! But first,
I spent a bit of time trying to figure out who the person being translated was (apo_mytype), and it looks like they're just a fan. But their comments resonated so much with people the twitter translator (jsaturfiles) got asked to translate/share. I'll post it here so people don't have to go to the tweet:
ive seen #MileApo in kissing scene workshops since the filmania era, their kisses are so real. apo said before that p mile wasn鈥檛 yet good at controlling himself. so every time they kissed he wouldn鈥檛 stop until apo nearly fell on his back. but apo couldn鈥檛 even fall because p mile was gripping his arm.
back then p mile鈥檚 body was very thick (he鈥檚 still thicker than apo today) one of his arms could wrap around apo鈥檚 entire body like a snake wrapping around it鈥檚 prey. from kissing in filmania to kissing in boc. by the time kpts ended #MileApo probably kissed 100s of times. let me ask for real, have you guys ever felt anything for each other at all? even some little thing?
some couples have been together for their whole lives and don鈥檛 kiss as often as #MileApo (reffering to them in the series)

The Art of a Good Kissing Scene

For anyone (no one) wondering "Kyuu, how the fuck do you know so many things about everything" the answer is 1) I don't know shit, 2) I have ADHD, and 3) I spend a lot of time just learning things about I find interesting. Like watching a lot of videos like the above.
The coach basically breaks down a list of things she's looking for in good/bad scenes, including 1. prelude (setup), 2. breath (pause before the kiss -- it's a moment of dramatic tension to set up the audience), 3. rhythm of the kiss, 4. dialogue/chemistry/moment/surrender (checking in with each other).
And she specifically compliments Jonathan Rhys Meyers' ability to create a private moment (13:39) of intimacy in a crowded place to establish the context for the kiss. So there is actual acting technique in how technically good on-screen kisses are, and also specifically how good Mile and Apo make KP's kisses.
I adore all of KP's kisses, but I specifically want to talk about how good their first kiss in episode 3 is.
The thing is, it's obviously not the first time MileApo have kissed, and certainly not even the first time they've kissed as Kinn and Porsche, but they have to sell to the audience the authenticity of it being their first kiss in the context of the events of the show -- the hesitancy, the heart in your throat jolt of tension, the tenderness and chasteness and longing and release of the first kiss.

And you know it's good acting because they can recreate this exact same tension, breath, longing, and relief of tension live in one take

It's so good in that the setup is both anticipatory and surprising at the same. Watch both happen...This youtuber's mom was even able to count down to their kiss.
Perth (Ken) has talked on his channel about how shows are filmed non-sequentially and it's up to the actors to know their characters well enough to know what's going on with them in that scene. Since the first kiss on the pier was physically in the same place as where they ended their first date in episode 8, they likely shot those on the same day or very close together. So MA had to know their characters' hearts very well. And their trust in each other, in taking each other's small cues, is what builds in the authenticity of watching Kinn and Porsche falling in love.
So yes, all the practice helped, but their kisses really do feel special. Mile and Apo constantly sell to us how special it is.
And that's what we call acting, baby. 馃槱馃挦
Let's just say it's probably good Mile had a whole year to get all of that hunger out of his system first because KPTS Episode 3 Kinn was way more respectful than Mile was haha.

I feel like these past four episodes, vegaspete absolutely stole the scene?? I know they're supposed to be a side couple but god GODDDDD, they were AMAZING, their story is so captivating and layered and!!!!!!! I also feel like BibleBuild just???????????? Killed it. Everything, to their body language, chemistry, micro expressions, voices... Idk if it's me just being insane about them or if anyone else agrees but I'd definitely watch a whole series solely about them 馃槶馃槶馃槶馃槶 (love kp and mileapo were amazing as well but I can't help it)

yeah ... i .... yeah.
see vegaspete really do remind me of teamwin. they both just give off the same kinda energy to me (no wonder they both are my fave fave fave tv show couples).
like yeah some people will say its SCS (second/side couple syndrome) and all that comes with it - the ambiguity, the way you can produce more meta for them bc there's space and room and freedom to do so outside of what's canon/on the show.
and i get that. but for me, for both teamwin and vegaspete, its just ... its more than that.
there's some Real Trauma Unpacking with both couples. from very early on in the show, you could See there's chemistry and spice and trauma and a heaviness there. and then the show decides to not give you them for a while. and then as the audience, you're left wondering and waiting and Yearning for them to kick in again.
and that was the case. yes. but with both teamwin and vegaspete, i was never ever ever ever worried about time running out or it feeling too rushed. which has been the case sooooo many times with other side/second couples. no. with them, everything kicked towards the back end of the show, which made it so intense.
and, moreso for vegaspete than teamwin, since this ask is about vegaspete, it worked. it HAD to be that way.
vegaspete HAD to be shown at the end. bc otherwise it wouldnt have hit as intensely as it was supposed to had it been drawn out across the whole show from the start. from ep 10 to ep 14, the pacing of vegaspete was so measured and yet so quick and fast but also given time and space to grow and fester and breathe. and it took you from one high to another and then it KICKED YOU TO THE GROUND and then took you high again.
of course, acting and chemistry play a huuuuuuge part in it, and biblebuild GOT it. absolutely every element of it. what also helps is the aesthetics and cinematography with them too. the reds, blues, greens, purples, yellows, black and white outfits, religious imagery etc.
it does also help in the fact that vegaspete are so Obviously Fucked Up and its not even denied or hidden. so they could REALLY go places and go as far as they wanted to with them, bc it was made clear from the start that they are fucked up!!! thats their nature!!!! its just a matter of seeing HOW fucked up they are, and we totally got to see that.
another thing is how BOTH characters got their own focus as indiviuals. you got a backstory with both. we could get our hands super dirty by being given the chance to dig and dig and dig and SEE who both these characters and what their psyche are, when you take away the meat and flesh, and strip them down to their skeleton. and you saw them BOTH go through it individually, whilst being apart from one another, which makes their coming together even more sweeter.
and in the end, you get to see them get what they deserve. it isnt sugar coated or glossed over. no they had it UGLY. you feel the catharsis of pete beating vegas up bloody and of vegas breaking down in pete's arms as pete talks him out of comitting suicide and pete's RAGE at killing anyone who hurts vegas and vegas being absolutely stripped naked and bare with nothing left to show for who he was previously. and you feel the elation of seeing them choose one another when they are their most honest selves and versions, devote to one another despite EVERYTHING, and see them get a chance to have their shot at happiness with macau. their is a resolution that leaves you satisfied based on everything theyve been through to get to this point here. and it feels DESERVED. rightfully deserved.

I also just realized the way Porsche lets Kinn try to make fire for god knows how long before getting out his lighter is exactly what Kinn does later by letting Porsche believe he's gonna cut off his hand before opening the handcuffs with the knife

How watching BL made me appreciate my own relationship more (in a surprising and wholesome way)
Me, watching KinnPorsche (especially the later epiaodes): awwwwww they're so in love ahh I wish I could feel like that again 馃槶馃槶馃槶

Me, as soon as I'm with my partner: omg I actually do have a relationship like that!!! Whaaaat how are we so cute???? And we communicate and talk through problems, that makes us better than KinnPorsche 馃拃 And we do all the cute things I wish my ships would do in canon and not just in fanfic 馃檲 And we love each other so freaking much!!!
So yeah I've been seeing my relationship through the eyes of a fangirl and I'm obsessed. I ship us so hard. If we had our own romance series tumblrinas would get so invested (except maybe not my usual corner of tumblr bc it's a "straight" relationship lol)
