boba fett's childhood is such an untapped goldmine of uncanny existential horror, even before he loses his father.
like, imagine growing up never seeing another child except those that are identical to you—carbon copies in every way, except their heads are shaved, they're plugged into machines all day, and they never stay children for very long. the ones that survive turn into men who look like your father, but your father calls them cattle, cannon fodder.
you're a clone, too. you should be cattle like them, but your father doesn't call you those things. he says you're his real son and that he loves you.
your father loves you. this is what distinguishes you from the cattle and the canon fodder. your father loves you and that's what makes you a person.
and :) then :) he :) fucking :) dies :)

once in awhile I like to imagine AUs where Eight isn't the Hand, but a former one who made way for the new Hand and instead found himself a different role as personal companion to Jadus and a proxy body he occasionally possesses in order to not show his face or have his real physical body out in the open while experiencing the world through Eight's eyes. Sometimes he acts as his messenger. Other times he's simply 'ferrying' the master around, as if his body were a mere vehicle for Jadus to ride in.
Eight is also, as far as others are concerned, the oddly cheerful servant who lives in his house and keeps checking on the new Hand, and it's hard to tell when it's Jadus or just him keeping an eye on the new personnel... as both are equally elusive in their own ways. Whether he offers helpful or cryptic advice not to be heeded lies entirely up to interpretation, but his allusions to his past are mysterious- and troubling.

Been trying some diy radical honesty DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) with my wife (both BPD) where we take a xanax or 2 and then try to talk honestly about our past trauma, problems in our relationship, and sex life and all that stuff. We've only been doing it for like 2 weeks and it's honestly been life-changing. It's helped our relationship so much, especially in vocalizing things that we otherwise just bottle up until one of us snaps at the other. It's been very successful at helping us be more open and honest about how our BPD makes polyamory hard because of irrational jealousy confronting the level of severe codependence we've ended up in. And it's been super helpful in reframing and untangling my wife's sexual/emotional trauma by challenging the narrative that she formed at the time and has reinforced since, creating a scapegoat out of a guy she had a traumatic but non-abusive relationship who hurt her really badly emotionally and had some very bad experiences with taking her virginity when she was like 14, and then projecting all the trauma that happened concurrently and afterwards with getting groomed online by multiple adult men on to him because it's easier to do that to an ex who hurt you irl than an actual predator who is just an avatar sending you texts and pictures online.

You know how they say Authors put a bit of themselves into their characters? What parts of yourself do you think you've given to Spook?
ooo! interesting question!
if i'm being honest, i think i've given more parts to spook of what i wished i had in myself. i think she's got an emotional strength that i could only ever dream of having, her ability to not snap at people even when she's frustrated, or standing up to people who've wronged her (like the scene in the bar with eric) that sort of thing. she's also got a bravery that i don't think i'll ever achieve.
otherwise, i've definitely given her my ability to not shut the fuck up when i need to (ie talking a lot when she's anxious or in love lmfao), my insatiable love for cats, most of my trauma, a dash of my awkwardness, and my love for simon fucking riley. i feel like the part that represents me most is "some other life." specifically the scene where ness is asking about her life and stuff like that. just that awkwardness that comes with that kind of conversation, how spook lies to save the tenseness it could have caused if she told the truth.
other than that, spook is everything i wish i was. and i gave that all to you guys, and now she's our problem <3 thank you so much for your question! i literally was scrounging my documents for scenes and whatnot because i couldn't remember really off the top of my head, and i'm certain there's parts of me that i've lost to her that i haven't realized yet, but now those parts are yours too (:
