Episode 133 / Creepy Day 2 Halloween Time at Disneyland
Tumblr media
SHOW NOTES:
On our second Creepy Day of 2017 we take a look at all of the Halloween offerings this year at the Disneyland Resort!  Including all of the brand new Halloween fun at Disney California Adventure and a review of this year’s Mickey’s Halloween Party!
REVIEW: (by Melissa A. Camacho)
It’s amazing what a little lighting and fog can do to get you in the Halloween spirit. At this year’s Mickey’s Halloween Party at the Disneyland Resort, both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure were decked out in fall and Halloween decorations. And for the first time ever, your ticket to Mickey’s Halloween Party allowed you into either Disneyland or DCA prior to the main event. In this review, I will be covering both parks and also giving you tips on this year’s party.
For those of you who have not heard of Mickey’s Halloween Party, it is a separate ticketed event that happens on select nights starting in mid September to Halloween at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. At this event, the park is closed early for regular attendees and the park is transformed into a full blown Halloween Party. Complete with a trick-or-treat candy trail, a dance party, Disney Villain appearances, the Frightfully Fun Parade and the Halloween Screams Fireworks; not to mention everybody is allowed to come in costume. Each year, this event sells out, and this year was no exception. So for those interested in attending next year, I highly recommend buying your tickets early.
We start off at Disney’s California Adventure. If you want to get a head start on your spooky day, take advantage of the early entry park-hopper and enjoy what DCA has to offer for the fall season. Early entry to either Disneyland or DCA starts three hours prior the main event. Unfortunately, I missed early entry this year (traffic coming up from San Diego was unusually bad) but, I was at DCA a few days earlier so I’m happy to report my take on the park on a regular day.
Before you even enter the park, you are welcomed by Oogie Boogie on top of the DCA entrance. As a huge fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, I was already sold. I have never been into DCA around this time of year, so walking into Buena Vista street and seeing the vintage purple banners and bats immediately put a smile to my face. Going in farther, there is an epic Headless Horseman statue that exhales out smoke through its nostrils. It also makes noses and and lights up as the day goes darker.
Another new and bigger thing at DCA for this Halloween season is Cars Land’s Haul-O-Ween layover. Now, I am not a huge Cars fan, but this themed section of the park is my favorite. So adding a dash of spooky made it 10x, better in my opinion. There were car parts that created spider webs and ghouls. Many of the signs had creepy layovers which referenced classic Halloween and horror movies. Not to mention the perfectly themed treats they offered there which have been featured on numerous videos and instagram accounts by now. Luigi's Rollickin Roadsters had new music for your cars to dance to. And Ramone's House of Body Art was Day of the Dead themed complete with an altar for one of it’s characters. As a Mexican-American, it was really refreshing to see my culture being represented as genuinely as possible, considering the context of the land. I enjoyed it. My tip for this section of the park is to arrive at sundown. That’s when all the neon gets turned on and the whole environment feels different. Still cute, yet spooky.
Continuing with our trend of Day of the Dead, there is a Coco experience near Paradise Pier that features activities, music, dancers, folk art and food inspired by the Mexican tradition and movie. When I went to DCA a few days prior, I did not get to experience this part of the park myself, so I can’t give a first hand account of this seasonal experience. But, thanks to the internet, you can view all the colorful displays they have up.
Another new thing that DCA offers this season was Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark, ride layover. Right out of the gate, the Guardians ride is noticeably different. The lights and projections on the building are different and kind of creepy. The story of the ride also changes, as you are now trying to help Rocket save Groot from the space monsters that have been let loose. I also felt that there were way more drops in this incarnation of the ride, which I highly enjoyed. The cool thing about this version, is that it’s not an all day layover. So if you want the little ones to enjoy the original, ride it during the day. My tip if you want to experience this scary version, is to ride it at or after the sun sets. It’s a digital layover so it gets converted in a short period of time.
Overall, the three hours you have at DCA will be enough time to look at all the new decorations and maybe ride a few things. Now onto onto Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland.
I have attended this event for the first time last year and I immediately fell in love. If you’re a fan of Halloween and all things Disney, then this is the event for you. My boyfriend and I Disneybounded as Oogie Boogie and Jack Skellington, respectively. The one thing I love about Mickey’s Halloween Party is the small crowds. There is practically no wait for any of the rides. Another thing that makes the event so different is ambiance of the park. It immediately puts everybody in good creepy mood.
As huge Disneyland fans, we all know that Disney spares no expense when it comes to their seasonal decorations. Besides the cute fall leaves and pumpkins on main street and other parts of the park, Disney bumps it up a bit for their Halloween party. The colored lights turn on, the spooky sounds creep up and fog covers Rivers of America as the Cadaver Dans start making their way down on a raft. If there’s one section that screams out creepy Disney, it’s New Orleans Square by Rivers of America. If that’s not your thing, then I suggest taking a stroll down the newly opened Big Thunder Trail. If you’re coming up from the Frontierland side, keep an eye out for the creature that lives in the old train ride tunnel. I honestly don’t remember if that was there last year, but it really freaked me out. The sound effects and lighting in that little section made me feel uneasy. Which looking back… still freaks me out just thinking about it. I still don’t know what that was suppose to be and no Google search is helping me. So if you’re brave, go check it out.
Besides my irrational fears of things unknown, the majority of the event was amazing. If rides are your thing, as they were for me and my boyfriend, I highly suggest riding Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday. These rides have seasonal layovers that really put you in the Halloween (or Christmas) spirit. As some of you might know, each year the gingerbread house in Haunted Mansion Holiday is changed. And this year, it features a humongous Oogie Boogie gingerbread man. Again, I am a sucker for this guy, so I loved it. Biases aside, I wish the doombuggies would move slower at the ballroom scene just so everybody can see and appreciate all the little details of the gingerbread houses. Especially considering that it is all real gingerbread and sweats. While Haunted Mansion Holiday is less scary once Jack takes over, in my opinion, I can’t say the same for Space Mountain’s layover. So if your children get easily frightened, I say skip Ghost Galaxy. I think it’s a bit loud and the projections might be too scary for your younger counterparts.
Now it’s not a Halloween Party without costumes and candy. While you see your usual and more traditional costumes, there are some that certainly stand out. Maybe it’s the Disney magic that sparks people’s creativity or the photo opportunities that the park offers. Either way, some people went all out. I only captured some spooky ones, but there were plenty more varieties that people dress up as too. While you people watch, I suggest taking advantage of the treat trail that spans the whole park. I personally didn’t stop at all of the candy spots, but I got enough candy to fill my Zero popcorn bucket. When you first enter the park, you are given a treat bag and a map of the treat trail. At some stops, there are healthier and allergy friendly options for the trick-or-treaters.
I am not one for Parades or Fireworks, but for this event, I try my best to make some time to watch it. First is the Frightfully Fun Parade. Before the parade begins, the Headless Horseman makes his way down on a real horse holding his pumpkin head. Then parade begins. The floats are given as much detail as the regular parade floats but better because they feature spooky characters and Disney Villains. The parade itself is rather short but cute for what it is. They run it twice throughout the night. Now for the fireworks, I highly suggest either being in front of the castle or in the middle of main street. Both the castle and main street have projections casted on them. I was on the side of the castle closer to Frontierland and still had a decent view. Like I said before, I’m not much of a fireworks person, but this one sold me with the theme, projections, synced fireworks and pyrotechnics. If you ever attend Mickey’s Halloween Party, I suggest finding a good spot and watching it at least once.
Overall, Mickey’s Halloween Party is defiantly one of my favorite events to attend at Disneyland. I’m an annual passholder and I will gladly pay the extra money to attend this event. It has the perfect mix of Disney and creepy. I give this year’s event a five poison apples out of five poison apples rating.

Disneyland Preview — Week of December 30
By James Rosemergy
Another super busy week at Disneyland Resort as we transition to 2018, though it becomes slightly more manageable as the week progresses. Read on to find out more in this week’s Disneyland preview!
Special Events and Notes
We get to usher in 2018 this week, and that means we get to experience the special New Years offerings at Disneyland! The New-Year’s-only (generally) Fantasy in the Sky  fireworks will run twice on New Years Eve, at 9 pm and again at 11:55 to welcome the New Year. If seeing the fireworks from Main Street U.S.A. is important to you, you’ll want to make sure you stake out a spot even earlier than usual. California Adventure will also ring in the New Year at Paradise Pier with its Fountains and Fireworks countdown. Special dining events are available at Napa Rose and PCH Grill; advance reservations are strongly recommended for these experiences.
The same holiday festivities we’ve been talking about continue, most notably the Festival of Holidays at Disney’s California Adventure (featuring food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the park). Princess Elena of Avalor has a special show, and there’s also Disney ¡Viva Navidad! (celebrating Latino holiday traditions). During the Festival, Annual Passholders are eligible to pick up a Sip & Savor Pass for $45 that is good for eight Festival food and beverage offerings (excluding alcohol).
At Disneyland Park, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic are being shown in lieu of the regular daytime parade and evening fireworks, respectively (with the exception of New Year’s Eve, when Fantasy in the Sky is shown). Over at Disney’s California Adventure, World of Color has been replaced by World of Color — Season of Light. All of these special shows are included with your normal park admission, so make sure you check them out.
On the attraction front, it’s a small world holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday still have their holiday overlays in place, and a couple of Cars Land attractions get the holiday treatment for the first time this year: Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Jingle Jamboree. The resorts are all decked out with holiday decorations, including a gingerbread replica of the Grand Californian in that hotel’s lobby. Make sure you check out Rikki’s preview to learn more about what you can expect for the holidays.
Disney’s sneak peek of Disney•Pixar’s movie Coco at the Bug’s Life Theater through January 7, 2018 at Disney’s California Adventure. Also, a new scene has been added to Star Tours from the Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie.
Crowds
It will come as no surprise to anyone that the crowds will be pretty heavy this week, with level 9 crowds on Saturday and Wednesday. Remember that crowd levels are a function of wait times, however, and that even though the resort-level New Years Eve crowded is rated as a 7, it may feel more congested than that with guests coming in for the festivities. Also, expect Disneyland Park to be far more crowded than California Adventure on New Year’s Eve.
Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.
Weather
The turn of the New Year will usher in yet another week of very pleasant winter weather in Southern California — low- to mid-70s during the day more or less all week long, and upper 40s in the evening, so you might want to bring a light jacket if you’re going to be hanging around later.  Only a hint of a chance of rain towards the end of the week, but that’s actually more of a chance than they’ve seen in a long time in the area.
As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.
Shows
All of Disney’s major shows are running full schedules, as one would expect for a busy week like this. Detailed show schedules, including smaller productions like Storytelling at Royal Theatre, can be found here.
Show Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Fantasmic! 3 3 2 2 2 2 2 A Christmas Fantasy Parade 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 Believe … In Holiday Magic 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 World of Color 3 2 1 1 2 2 2
Admission and Hours
Passholders blockouts are again a reality this week: Signature Passholders are blocked out Saturday-Monday. Deluxe Passholders are blocked out those days plus Tuesday, and Southern California and Southern California Select Passholders are blocked out every day this week. For those of you buying tickets as day guests, single-day tickets are at Peak cost ($124/$118) every day this week (and for the remainder of the year).
Regular park hours (excluding Extra Magic Hours/Magic Mornings) are as follows this week:
Sat Sun Mon Tues Wed Thur Fri Disneyland 8-12 8-2 9-11 8-12 8-12 8-12 8-12 California Adventure 8-10 8-1 9-9 8-9 8-11 8-11 8-11
As per usual, the parks will open one hour early for eligible guests at Disneyland Park Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and at Disney’s California Adventure Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Resort guests can take advantage of these hours every day of their stay for Extra Magic Hours, while guests eligible for Magic Mornings can use that benefit one day at Disneyland Park only. Full park hours can be found by clicking on each date in the Crowd Calendar.
Refurbishments
With the exception of shows that are dark to make way for seasonal or limited run productions (like the parade or It’s Tough to Be A Bug!), everything is currently operational at Disneyland as the week starts, though Splash Mountain and the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will both go down for refurbishment starting on January 2.
Looking ahead, Dumbo will be going down January 8 for routine maintenance, and Haunted Mansion will undergo a brief break in operation also starting January 8 to remove the holiday overlay. Much more significant plans are afoot at California Adventure: California Screamin’, the Games of the Boardwalk, and Mickey’s Fun Wheel all close on January 8 as that portion of the park gets a Pixar-themed makeover; Ariel’s Grotto and the Cove Bar will likewise close at this time.
As always, you can see the full slate of refurbishments by checking here.
That should do it for this week’s preview. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike. Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments.

9 Reasons to Visit Disneyland at Halloween
New Post has been published on https://www.dailynynews.com/2018/9-reasons-visit-disneyland-halloween/
9 Reasons to Visit Disneyland at Halloween
01of 10
A Guide to Disneyland at Halloween
•••
Disneyland starts celebrating the holidays at Halloween, with lots of unique decorations and activities for Disney’s HalloweenTime. What was already a fun time to go is now even busier, but our tips for planning ahead will help you make the most of it. Not to be left out, the bakeries and eateries may also feature seasonal goodies.
If you plan to visit Disneyland during the Halloween season, check their calendar ahead of time to be sure you know what the hours are. On days when Mickey’s Halloween Party is held, the park closes earlier than normal (unless you have a separate ticket for the party).
How to Plan Ahead for Disneyland at Halloween
For a few days after the decorations go up and on Halloween night, the place gets jam-packed. If you can, try to go on a Sunday or weekday, when crowds will be smaller.
The crowds are also more manageable if you plan ahead. These are some things to do:
If you’re going for more than one day, buy your Disneyland tickets online in advance to avoid standing in line for them.
Use Ridemax to avoid standing in line at the rides.
Reserve Disneyland tours such as the Happiest Haunts Tour or Walk in Walt’s Footsteps a month in advance. Call 714-781-4585.
Make reservations for Disneyland restaurants such as the Blue Bayou at least two weeks in advance at 714-781-3463 or reserve online.
02of 10
The Decorations
•••
Halloween decorations appear everywhere in Disneyland, starting at the entrance gates. Town Square at the end of Main Street boasts a 16-foot tall Mickey-Mouse-shaped jack-o-lantern that’s very popular for photographs, and Main Street is decked out in orange and yellow bunting, with more than 300 pumpkins peeping from its windows.
03of 10
The Character Halloween Costumes
•••
Many of the Disney characters will be wearing their Halloween costumes as they greet guests. Young girls especially seem to enjoy wearing their Disney princess outfits while visiting the park, and if you buy them one for their visit, they can wear it for the holiday, too.
04of 10
The Haunted Mansion Holiday
•••
Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, a tale of what happens when Halloween tries to create Christmas, is an annual Disneyland feature from early October through the end of the year.
The special Halloween decorations in Haunted Mansion Holiday, based on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, are extensive and whimsical, with jack-o-lanterns replacing the hitchhiking ghosts. Haunted Mansion is Disneyland’s best Halloween spot. You may want to ride it twice to take it all in, and be sure to stop by after dark when candles flicker outside.
05of 10
Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
•••
Every year in the fall, a bunch of ghosts moves into Space Mountain, bringing along a soundtrack and special effects just for the holiday. The creepy, projected character that cast members call Dolores shows up during the ride, sometimes seeming so much in your face that you think she’s going to get into the car with you. Outside, projections turn the roof into a morphing montage of textures and effects.
06of 10
Mickey’s Halloween Party
•••
This event happens in October on Mondays, Wednesday,  Fridays and Halloween night and requires a  Fridays and Halloween night and requires a separate ticket purchase, which gives access to attractions, exclusive seating for the fireworks and other activities. Adults can wear costumes to the party; a privilege restricted to the under-ten set the rest of the year. Read more about it here.
07of 10
The Halloween Screams Fireworks
•••
It’s a fireworks show created just for the season, but it only happens during Mickey’s Halloween Party.
08of 10
The Halloween Souvenirs and Treats
•••
Disneyland comes up with sweet treats for every holiday and season. These candy apples were on sale in the candy shop window on Main Street USA.
You can also pick up a pretty inexpensive souvenir at Halloween, especially if you like popcorn. The bucket is different every year. In the past, it has featured Zero, who is Jack Skellington’s faithful ghost dog in Tim Burton’s  Nightmare Before Christmas and a cute Cinderella’s carriage.
09of 10
Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour
•••
A seasonal-themed version of the behind-the-scenes tour, visiting all the holiday attractions and with reserved seating for the fireworks. Call 714-781-4565 to reserve it, up to one month in advance. Read a detailed review of the tour at MousePlanet.
10of 10
California Adventure at Halloween
•••
Most of the Halloween-themed rides are in Disneyland, but at California Adventure, Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas takes over with his twisted tale of a forever Halloween.
Cars Land gets a Haul-O-Ween makeover as the citizens of Radiator Springs don Halloween costumes and decorate their respective homes for the season. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree turns spooky as the Graveyard JamBOOree, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters getting a seasonal twist to become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Disneyland Preview — Week of December 23
By James Rosemergy
We’re at that point of the year when EVERYONE is off of school, and that means that Disneyland will be BUSY. What else is in store? Read on to find out in this week’s Disneyland preview!
Special Events and Notes
The same holiday festivities we’ve been talking about continue this week at Disneyland Resort.  This includes the Festival of Holidays at Disney’s California Adventure (featuring food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the park).
Still haven’t had a chance to meet Santa? The big guy will be at Ahwahnee Camp Circle at the entrance to the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail with other holiday activities. Santa will be taking a breather starting on Christmas, but Goofy will take over and will be available for photos in the same location.
At Disneyland Park, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic are being shown in lieu of the regular daytime parade and evening fireworks, respectively. Over at Disney’s California Adventure, World of Color has been replaced by World of Color — Season of Light. All of these special shows are included with your normal park admission, so make sure you check them out.
On the attraction front, it’s a small world holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday have their holiday overlays in palce, and a couple of Cars Land attractions get the holiday treatment for the first time this year: Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Jingle Jamboree. The resorts are all decked out with holiday decorations, including a gingerbread replica of the Grand Californian in that hotel’s lobby. Make sure you check out Rikki’s preview to learn more about what you can expect for the holidays.
Disney is currently holding “A Coco Celebration,” including a sneak peek of Disney•Pixar’s movie Coco at the Bug’s Life Theater through January 7, 2018 at Disney’s California Adventure.
Finally, let this serve as a quick reminder that a new scene has been added to Star Tours from the Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie (which has recently opened, in case you hadn’t heard). You’ll be visiting Crait during a battle, which you may have seen in the trailers and movie.
Crowds
Been a while since we’ve seen this much red on a crowd calendar, but it’s the holiday season, and frequent readers know the drill. This weekend isn’t too obnoxious, and Christmas Eve is actually pretty reasonable, but the rest of the week is quite busy — nines and tens from Tuesday on.
Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.
Weather
Another very nice December week in Anaheim — low- to mid-70s more or less all week long, though the evenings will be chillier, dipping into the 40s.  No rain in the forecast, so you can leave those ponchos at home.

Refurbishments
With the exception of shows that are dark to make way for seasonal or limited run productions (like the parade or It’s Tough to Be A Bug!), everything is currently operational at Disneyland, and no other refurbishments are scheduled for the remainder of the year. That said, just as attractions can go down unexpectedly over the course of the day, more significant issues can result in unexpected closures; as of now, however, it should be a more or less full slate of attractions until the new year.
Looking ahead, Splash Mountain and Dumbo will be going down January 2 and 8, respectively, for routine maintenance. Haunted Mansion will undergo a brief break in operation starting January 8 to remove the holiday overlay. Resort guests can take advantage of these hours every day of their stay for Extra Magic Hours, while guests eligible for Magic Mornings can use that benefit one day at Disneyland Park only. Full park hours can be found by clicking on each date in the Crowd Calendar.
Refurbishments
Most everything is currently operational at Disneyland. At California Adventure, Goofy’s Sky School is currently closed through the December 21. Everything else is currently open, and no other refurbishments are scheduled for the remainder of the year. That said, just as attractions can go down unexpectedly over the course of the day, more significant issues can result in unexpected closures; as of now, however, it should be a more or less full slate of attractions until the new year.
As always, you can see the full slate of refurbishments by checking here.
That should do it for this week’s preview. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike. Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments.

Disneyland Preview — Week of December 9
By James Rosemergy
Another week of holiday-themed fun at Disneyland Resort. Read on to find out what to expect in this week’s Disneyland preview!
Special Events and Notes
Photo: Disney
Lots of holiday cheer at Disneyland resort, and both parks have themed their entertainment to the season. Even better, all of these special shows are included with your normal park admission, so make sure you check them out.
The Festival of Holidays also continues at California Adventure. In addition to food and drink kiosks sprinkled throughout the park, Princess Elena of Avalor has a special show, and Disney ¡Viva Navidad! (celebrating Latino holiday traditions) will be taking place throughout the Festival.
During the Festival, Annual Passholders are eligible to pick up a Sip & Savor Pass for $45 that is good for eight Festival food and beverage offerings (excluding alcohol). In addition to potentially saving you some money, you’ll also get a lanyard and a special AP button at each kiosk where you redeem a coupon.  Passholders can stop by the AP Corner at Sonoma Terrace for exclusive photo opportunities and a complimentary commemorative collectible art button.
Holiday overlays familiar and new are also part of the festivities.  it’s a small world holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday return, and a couple of Cars Land attractions get the holiday treatment for the first time this year: Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.
Finally, let this serve as a quick reminder that a new scene has been added to Star Tours from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie. You’ll be visiting Crait during a battle, which you may have seen in the trailers.
Crowds
Crowds are again tolerable this week as we brace for the winter break at the end of the year.  We’re predicting the highest crowds on Saturday (7) and the lowest on Friday (4), and steady, middle-of-the-road crowds the remainder of the week.
Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.
Weather
Warmer this week, but still a wonderful week of weather in Anaheim all things considered — highs in the 80s, lows in the 50s, and no rain in the forecast. As an aside, as you may be aware, there are currently significant wildfires in the Los Angeles area; none of these are currently close enough to Disneyland to be expected to directly impact the parks. With that said, traffic in the region may be impacted, and it is a fluid situation, so make sure you keep abreast of what’s happening on that front.
As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.
Shows
Pretty full slate of shows as we get into the middle of December: Fantasmic! is only showing on the weekends, but the seasonal shows are all showing every day. Detailed show schedules, including smaller productions like Storytelling at Royal Theatre, can be found here.
Show Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Fantasmic! 2 2 0 0 0 0 2 A Christmas Fantasy Parade 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 Believe … In Holiday Magic 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 World of Color 1 2 1 1 1 1 2

All other Annual Passports will be honored all days of the week. For those of you buying tickets as day guests, single-day tickets are at Peak cost ($124/$118) Saturday, Sunday, and Friday, and Regular ($110/$104) the remainder of the week.
Regular park hours (excluding Extra Magic Hours/Magic Mornings) are as follows this week:

Full park hours can be found by clicking on each date in the Crowd Calendar.
Refurbishments
Most everything is currently operational at Disneyland. At Disneyland Park, Mark Twain Riverboat will be undergoing a brief refurbishment from December 11-15. At California Adventure, Goofy’s Sky School is currently closed through the December 21. Everything else is currently open, and no other refurbishments are scheduled for the remainder of the year. Special Events and Notes

The resorts all get into the spirit as well with holiday decorations, including a gingerbread replica of the Grand Californian in that hotel’s lobby! Make sure you check out Rikki’s preview to learn more about what you can expect for the holidays.
Of particular note is the Festival of Holidays at California Adventure. This Saturday, November 18 is Mickey’s birthday!  Celebrate the big guy with a parade from it’s a small world up to Main Street U.S.A.
Disney is currently holding “A Coco Celebration,” including a sneak peek of Disney•Pixar’s upcoming movie Coco at the Bug’s Life Theater through January 7, 2018 at Disney’s California Adventure.
Also starting this week is a new scene that’s been added to Star Tours from the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie. Expect to visit Crait, which you may have seen in the trailers, and be immersed in a spectacular battle!
Wanting Thanksgiving dinner at Disneyland? That can be arranged of course.  A buffet, complete with characters, is being served at the Disneyland Hotel. It is, umm, not cheap, and will cost $94.99 for adults and $34.99 for children 3-9. This does include one specialty cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage.
Crowds
Lots of red and orange this week on the ol’ crowd graph–a busy week at Disneyland. The weekend will be lighter than the week, with Saturday having the most moderate crowds predicted, but they’ll be above average every day.
Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.
Weather
Shocking though it may be, it will once again be very nice in Southern California this week.  Highs in the upper 70s and low 80s most days, lows in the 50s, and not a bit of rain in the forecast. Thanksgiving Day is predicted to be the warmest day, with Monday the coolest.  Great weather no matter which day you pick, though.
As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.
Shows
One good thing about larger crowds is that Disney runs their shows more often, and this week features a full slate of shows every day. Detailed show schedules, including smaller productions like Storytelling at Royal Theatre, can be found here.
Show Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Fantasmic! 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 A Christmas Fantasy Parade 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 Believe … In Holiday Magic 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 World of Color 2 2 2 2 2 2 2

Deluxe Passholders are blocked out on Friday only. All other Annual Passports will be honored all days of the week. For those of you buying tickets as day guests, single-day tickets are at Peak cost ($124/$118) every day this week.

November 10 kicks off the official holiday season at the Disneyland Resort and it’s the most festive time of the year! This year, there’s going to be some fun new additions mixed in with the standby favorites.
First, this year will mark the debut of new seasonal transformations in Cars Land! Due to the success of Haul-o-ween, Mater and Luigi have put a holiday spin on their attractions. In addition, there will be new delicious eats and great new merchandise, and Disney characters in their holiday finest. Here’s what you can expect:
Disneyland
Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle features shimmering icicles and more than 50,000 twinkling LED lights. Oh and you don’t want to miss the fireworks spectacular “Believe … in Holiday Magic” as it features a magical snowfall finale
The “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade will return with daily performances. The parade will feature favorite Disney characters who will join Santa Claus to spread holiday cheer along with marching tin soldiers, gingerbread cookies, dazzling floats and lively holiday music.
Guests can meet Santa at his special location in Critter County
There will be a gigantic  60-foot Christmas tree with nearly 1,800 ornaments that will welcome guests to Main Street, U.S.A.
“it’s a small world” has been transformed into “it’s a small world” Holiday to celebrate children around the world and the holiday traditions of their countries. FastPass will be available for this attraction.
Of course, you don’t want to miss Haunted Mansion Holiday which celebrates the collision between Christmas and Halloween with Jack Skellington and his friends from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Disney California Adventure
The residents of Radiator Springs have decorated with festive fun in the past, but new this year, two Cars Land attractions will transform for the first time. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.
The Festival of Holidays is back with diverse cultural festivities inspired by Christmas/Navidad, Hannukah, Diwali, Kwanza and Three Kings Day. Guests will experience:

Halloween Time Expands to Cars Land and Buena Vista Street in Fun Ways
By Rikki Niblett
Disney California Adventure is absolutely getting in on the Halloween fun this year. With the brand new mission on Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! called Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, as well as fun new decor for both Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, it’s sure to be a spooktacular time! With Halloween Time rapidly approaching (it starts on September 15), we have a brief glimpse at what Guests will be able to expect this year.
First, the main entryway for Disney California Adventure will be seeing some already announced Nightmare Before Christmas themed decor, but that’s not all. There will also be a new 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow! He will be holding his jack-o’-lantern head and will haunt Carthay Circle. If you’re a character fan, you’ll want to catch Mickey Mouse dressed as a bat, Goofy as a ghost, and Daisy Duck dressed as a witch. There will also be new, themed background music that further creates the appropriately eerie, but still fun, mood.
©Disney
But to me, the best part of Halloween at the park will be found in Cars Land as part of their Haul-O-Ween! Here, each place will be decorated for the season, like at Fillmore’s where he’s showing off his Jack-Oil-Lanterns and ghostly folk art. Find Sarge displaying his “pump-kins.” Guests will also see a Spider-Car spinning webs all over Flo’s V8 Café.
©Disney
Also, for the first time, the Cars characters will be donning their Halloween “car-stumes” as they prepare to go “trunk-or-treating.” Mater will be wearing his vampire or “van-pire” outfit, while Lightning McQueen is dressed as a super hero. Cruz Ramirez will get dressed up as a pirate, Red the Fire Truck will appear as a clown and DJ will be a punk rocker.
In addition, two of the attractions will see fun Halloween themes. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, an all-new spooktacular dance celebration where Luigi and Guido will entertain with Halloween twists on traditional Italian festival songs like the “Terror-antella,” “The Chop Top of Carsoli” and more. Over at Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, the ride will become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, where guests will whirl around the graveyard to the tune of creepy new songs and fun haunted twists on favorites such as “Monster Truck Smash” and “Welcome to Radiator Screams.”
  ©Disney
Looking for Halloween-inspired treats? You’ll find them throughout the park!
Bat Wing Raspberry Sundae at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream – white chocolate-raspberry swirl ice cream with raspberry splatter, blood-red sprinkles, whipped cream and bat wing cookie
Spider Silk Ice Cream Sandwich at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream – a black macaron with charcoal-tart cherry spun ice cream topped with popping candy and drops of raspberry sauce
