HOMO TURISTICUS la traversata / 5 ___________ (English version in comments) Estate, qualche ora di traversata su un traghetto verso un’isola. Visti nell’insieme siamo tutti parte di una massa. Chiusi in un recinto galleggiante, sospesi nell’attesa dell’arrivo, senza il lusso di spazi privati, sembra quasi che ci si senta autorizzati ad abbandonarsi a quello che quasi automaticamente viene percepito come un ineluttabile destino comune: assumere la forma del turista. Prendo la fotocamera, il mondo improvvisamente si concentra, entro nel mio flow. Qualcuno con una breve occhiata mi registra come il perfetto turista preso da ossessiva smania fotografica e non mi dà peso, altri mi riservano sguardi torvi e sospettosi: rubo l’immagine e proseguo. Riuniti nel rito collettivo della traversata estiva, interagiscono in modo quasi tribale. E’ come se l’essere presi dall’essere turisti impedisse di vedere o sentire tutto ciò che esula da un concetto di meritata rilassatezza. Arrivo al punto di immaginare che qualcuno a sua volta abbia rubato uno scatto… di me che scatto foto agli altri: il confine tra l’osservare e l’essere osservati. L’umanità a volte si può ritrarre in un modo che fa sorridere, rattrista e la rappresenta. First time shooting #3200iso film, and shooting at night too. Was a great challenge as it’s all new to me and was very skeptical that I would even get a usable image shooting as low as 20th - 80th/sec using only available light and tripod. This was taken at the silo district around 9pm.
