Please don't misunderstand, the spritely Defender is immense fun when in raw, au nature mode. Just remember, I don't live in LA. I'm based in Snowdonia. The UK has a Goldilocks climate, near perfect contrast between seasons, and that perfection leaves us in a realm of not too hot or too cold - and out-of-the-blue drenched. Not too hot means fairly cool when travelling over 15mph and not too cold equates to ruddy-freezing at speeds likened to a briskly overtaking a caterpillar. Of course, the weather wasn't my greatest concern. My fellow humans were main reason as to why I put the lid back on the Ark of Fun. We people are simply too ready to utilise the five fingered discount. Owning a Defender these days is risky enough but no lid meant temptation, and departing the relatively theft-free-zone of Middle Earth was a no-go. Even in Snowdonia I couldn't leave the vehicle unattended, whilst equipment of any bulk was never taken along for a ride. To be fair, I never take any equipment of substance for a spin in the 90, sealed or not, and I never leave it out of sight or away from the prying optics of external cameras. The 90 is also armed with an independent battery powered WiFi based camera solution of my own concoction that alerts me to any movement via phone bongs - it's a pain but utterly worth the extra agro. Anyone or thing nearing or passing is instantly filmed and snapped, with the data being immediately stored in the cloud, on an SD card and on my phone. I may make a film on how to install such a security system. It's fairly simple. Yes, for a Defender it is fairly secure in terms of, in the event of attempted theft or theft the occasion would highly likely result in prosecution, but there's practically nothing available that'll prevent certain types from attempting to yoink what doesn't belong to them.
