episode 8 trailer dropped, you know what that means !
guess who's back for another prediction.
ok first off before i put the cut, i just think rei's english is so pleasant to the ears that's all
okay spoiler territory time
(edited a little to add in a little something)
it seems we're finally at that point of PV 2 and 3 where they started planning and preparing a birthday !
but first let me just cry about how cute the conversation between kazuki and rei are before i get into the topic of the scenes playing in the trailer
(don't trust my translation 100% i am only going off of how i understand it with limited knowledge)
Rei: Because Miri came, I started to feel the seasons. Kazuki: That's true∼ Rei: And I thought summer was just hot. Kazuki: You do become more of a hikikomori when the summer comes... Rei: Summer was just limited to coolers, but... Kazuki: But? Rei: There were... also days where I thought the sunlight was nice
also this
Rei: It's the first time that I've ever thought that I liked this weather Kazuki: Barbecuing on tiles sounds good too Rei: I'll have to refuse. Kazuki: Eeh?
i love how rei's a little more talkative and especially about his likes and dislikes when it comes to summer
anyways onto the scenes!
Tumblr media
kazuki and miri are preparing but i'm still not sure if they're preparing for rei's birthday because putting kazurei's conversation aside, it should be related to the episode still like the previous trailer for episode 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
since miri's zoo trip is over and the rainy season was shown in episode 7, and kazurei talked about the summer weather, i can only guess that it really is gonna be a rei birthday thing because no way is it miri's birthday bc hers is in november, and her acquisition was in christmas eve
rei bday might be somewhere between june to september
i will cry if i get this correct
Tumblr media
the suwa manor i assume??
we don't really see rei outside of the house on his own especially in work attire so this is new new
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this implies that despite kyutaro once looking at rei saying he knows the consequences of betraying the organization the most, he is in contact with his boss (father)
did he have an escape attempt once? is this episode going to elaborate on that? this seems more of a rei backstory episode after kazuki's backstory episode
Tumblr media
local malewife malewifing as usual, nothing out of the ordinary except he looks just a bit more natural in his position rather than vaguely distressed
Tumblr media
im willing to bet kazuki's the one who did her hairstyle because i feel like rei would just accidentally tug on her hair every few seconds but i might be proven wrong or they never show us
Tumblr media Tumblr media
favorite child and unfavorite child face off? they have similar facial structures and hair strand placement
the color contrasts is screeching into my face as well
(also i just think rei looks like slender man in that screenshot jesus christ he is terrifying)
Tumblr media
now why is this man here
he cannot be related at all so whats he doing here !! was he hired by rei's boss to take care of him or something !!!! curious. so curious
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really do wonder what sort of conversation they're having in the midst of a gunfight inside a ship
maybe the organization found out about miri and them taking in miri?
Tumblr media
the infamous "Rei-papa looks lonely sometimes" scene which really just wants me to think its a rei bday episode
Tumblr media
NOW WHAT IS THIS !!!! HELLO !!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED LITTLE CRINGEMAN
he's showing too much emotion so i'm convinced that there was a threat made to miri and kazuki by favorite poster suwa child
we never see this man with any kind of scratch or wound from episodes 1 to 7 during gunfights, but we see him a little roughed up in this scene for once which really screams this man might be nearly superhuman but he is not Immune to physical damage (nor is he immune to psychological warfare)
this episode has me hyped because it seems like a tenser vibe compared to kazuki's more melancholy confrontation with his past which he ends up coming to terms with
hopefully rei does get back home safe and sound even if he gets a wound or two, manifesting!!
thats all folks, thanks for coming to my newest installment of yuzu loves overanalyzing 40 seconds of footage

Buddy Daddies Joint Interview with Uchiyama Kouki and Toyonaga Toshiyuki [Extracts]
Link to interview
THIS IS NOT THE FULL INTERVIEW TRANSLATION!! I have only done some snippets that I found interesting, or shed some light on what's to come:
Looking back on Buddy Daddies now, what did you think of its first developments?
Toyonaga: From the hardboiled action sequence of the first episode, the second episode develops into more of a sitcom. This tone change really intrigued me, and I think everyone watching it went "What's gonna happen now?"
Uchiyama: It started with a scene where they're executing a mission as assassins, and this backdrop as well as the whole assassin conceit is a hook unique to this show. I thought there would be various types of drama unfolding from that, which would take up a part of the show; but as Toyonaga said, the sitcom elements became way more pronounced as the story unfolded, which left quite an impression on me.
How do you feel about Kazuki and Rei's buddy relationship?
Uchiyama: The story is predicated on the "buddy" thing, but since Miri joined the two so early, the real impression is more of a "trio", right. The two of them getting wrapped up in Miri's pace, really.
Toyonaga: Kazuki and Rei both have heavy baggage and trauma from their pasts, and didn't have a normal puberty or experiences regular children get to have while growing up. The story of the two of them pulled hither and thither by Miri is certainly new and strange for them but makes for easy drama, too. Often I found myself thinking "yeah, this is how it would go." In that way, the three of them have a delicate balance going on. And, speaking as the actor here, I'm playing [Kazuki] in quite an aggressive way, so I fear that Uchiyama is having a hard time of it.... Rei needs to be played as an opposite to Kazuki, so I'm always like "Sorry, Ucchi...." [laughs]
Uchiyama: No, no, it's not like that! [laughs] I actually had fun with Rei getting thrown around like that. There's a lot of variation in the story and each episode varies significantly in tone so even as a cast member I've quite enjoyed it behind the scenes too. From the POV of the viewer, it really seems they're being kept on the edge of their seat.
Buddy Daddies is entering its home stretch. What will be the highlights?
Toyonaga: In Episode 7, we saw the appearance of Karin, the sister of Kazuki's late wife, and in Episode 8, we met Rei's father...
Uchiyama: We saw a bit of each of their pasts.
Toyonaga: After that, in Episode 9, Rei and Kazuki's thoughts on Miri have finally lined up. However, from Episode 10 onwards, it becomes more clear that there are things they shouldn't overlook in favor of all this "affection". What will they actually do with Miri? A hitman named Ryo Ogino, who's been frequenting Kyu-chan (Kyutaro Kugi)'s shop, gets involved. In the real world of assassins, what will happen to Miri, a girl living a cheerful and wholesome life despite her pitiful circumstances? We're finally going to reach that point in the story.
So how would the story threads tie together in the end.... did you think.
Toyonaga: When I think of what will happen to Miri, there's still the matter of people who are related to her by blood. That relationship, I feel, is key.
Uchiyama: In that sense, the final few episodes do seem to take on a more serious bent. I do wonder what viewers will think of it, and I think even those hardcore plot elements are drawn out in the typical Buddy Daddies style. If this were an anime of a different tone, maybe those elements would have been narrated from another facet.
And as for the conclusion, did the two of you find it surprising at all?
Uchiyama: I really was wondering how they would end it, and I could not predict it at all until I read the final episode's script.
Toyonaga: But with an ending like this, you'd naturally end up thinking about what Director Asai wanted to say with this piece.
Uchiyama: Personally I was quite surprised.
Toyonaga: I really am curious how viewers will react to the ending. For example, even though it is an animation, some more realistic-minded viewers might be tempted to comment "In real life, it would go more like this..." To those people, I want to say... not "reality is stranger than fiction", necessarily, but "isn't this actually real life?" I think the ending really poses the question of whether you can accept it or not.
Uchiyama: In terms of the entire story, if I were only to think about the "pseudo-family" aspect of Kazuki, Rei, and Miri's relationship, it could actually get kind of dark. It was new for me as well, to see it portrayed this way through the medium of animation, and to be able to capture it from this angle.
Toyonaga: In any case, we think it would come as a surprise to viewers. Also, I hope you enjoy each episode to the end.

Buddy Daddies Finale Theory
I can't say what I'm really basing these thoughts on. I also am not sure if this is an actual theory or just my hopes/musings. But here we go:
Kazuki, Rei, and Miri will all make it. Kazuki or Rei might get injured, but nobody in this sweet, little family is dying on me!
However, I do think there is going to be a loss and after the end of Ep. 8, my bet is on Kyutaro (though I hope I am wrong!)
For a variety of reasons, all of which are valid, Rei, and perhaps Kazuki too, are gonna go after Shigeki and Ogino. If not outright killing them (perhaps symbolizing that Rei and Kazuki have changed and are different from them), they will somehow be out of the picture, leaving Rei as the head of the Suwa family/organization
Rei and Kazuki will continue to stay in that world or business, possibly to try and change the practices of the Suwa organization or still feeling too tied to it. So, Rei will step up to become the head of the Suwa organization, except he's doing things a little differently from his father. Rei will be handling that during the day while Miri is at school. During the same time, Kazuki will somewhat retire from missions and instead take over Yadorigi from Kyutaro, maintaining the place as both a cafe and location to exchange/gather intel. (Just let this man cook and be appreciated for his food/drinks)
Like Rei said in Ep. 8, his home is the apartment where he, Kazuki, and Miri live. And that's gonna stay the same. Their apartment will continue to be their home. Nobody is going to move to the Suwa manor and that place will instead become like an office or workspace for Rei. While they may all somewhat spend their day apart from each other, this little family always comes together at night in the apartment for dinner and family time.
.
.
.
Not fully related to the above, but also just wanted to throw my two cents into the conversation about this: I don't think we've crossed over into the present yet (or, we're still in the flashback). I feel it would explicitly be said when the show jumps back to the present or there would be overlapping events that clearly allude to the merging of the two timelines. I haven't watched a whole lot of anime, so I do not know if this is a common story technique or not and if there is like a trope or narrative device used in these situations.
I do agree, given Rei's growth and development in the relationship he has with Miri, going back and rewatching that first scene, Rei's reaction seems a little out of character now (like he still does not really care about Miri). But, and I saw a post about this earlier (sorry I forgot your @), if it's not actually Miss Anna calling, and instead Kyutaro or someone else with the voice changer, this could explain Rei's response. If this call is being made to lure Kazuki and Rei into a trap, and Miri does not actually have a runny nose or fever (I kinda forgot the specifics), then Rei's seemingly unfazed or uncaring reaction could be him simply trying to appease Kazuki's overprotective papa dramatics. Rei's "I guess" could be he truly didn't notice anything wrong with Miri because nothing is, she's just being used as bait. Regardless of the how the organization gets its info on Kazuki and Miri, they will know how much she means to both of them and what they are willing to do for her. That is why calling them and saying Miri is not in outright trouble or danger, but simply needs the love and help of her papas will quickly draw them to wherever the organization wants them.
I could be completely wrong, but just some of my thoughts about how the rest of the season may play out. I think the wait for next week's episode is gonna be a lot harder for me than previous waits.

Finally thought of a good Writing Prompt Game idea!
The Armorer & Paz meet and/or decide to take in Ragnar either in TLGF or canon.
Wow--how did you know I've had this thought multiple times? 😮
TLGF-verse--but not sure how much will actually end up being canon 😊 Don't have an exact timeline, but this would be a few months after our current chapter.
Rated VFK for Vizsla Family Chaos (as usual 🤣)
***********************************************************************
"Buir, why are we having a family meeting--I wanna play Lothball with with Emi!" Eyra said as Bryn led her children down the hall, with Paz bringing up the rear.
"I promise it will be brief--but it's very important, and your father and I want all of you to be well informed," Bryn answered as she keyed open the door to their apartment.
The twins raced for the couch, followed by Kyri, Ajay, and Nima, who quickly overtook their little sister to get the favored spots.
"Buir, that's not fair!" Kyri complained, angrily pulling off her helmet and throwing it down on the floor. She was overtired and desperately in need of a nap.
"Come sit with me, Ky," Jos said, plopping down on a floor cushion and patting her knees.
Kyri turned and made a face at her older siblings before curling up in her eldest sister's lap, thumb in her mouth.
"So.....what's important?" Jerem asked, once he'd settled on his own cushion.
Bryn sat down on her own cushion next to Paz, and he took his hand in hers.
"Wait a minute--the last time this happened, we found out Kyri was on the way!" Ajay replied.
"We're gonna have another baby?" Evet asked excitedly.
"No, di'kut--Buir can't have more babies!" Nima exclaimed.
"How come?" Eyra asked.
Nima opened her mouth to explain, and Bryn decided she'd best clear up any misconceptions.......quickly.
"I'm not pregnant--but our family will be growing."
"You and Ammon are getting married?" Miri squealed, turning to look at Jos.
"No--now shut up and listen and maybe we'll all find out what's going on!"
Bryn shook her head, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath to settle her thoughts against the chaos surrounding her. "This afternoon, while your father and I were gathering information from the Foundlings who arrived today, we made an interesting discovery. One of them, a twelve-year-old boy, is from Clan Vizsla--and he's one of your first cousins."
"Like Grogu?" Kyri asked, then put her thumb back in her mouth, eyelids already drooping as Jos rocked her back and forth.
"Yes. He was your Ba'vodu Lina's youngest--just a toddler when the Purge happened."
"He's been alone all this time?" Nima asked, and Bryn's heart broke, remembering the tiny girl with big brown eyes who'd been without her mother for three weeks when Paz had found her in the halls of the Covert, hidden away while Ajay went searching for food.
No, darling," Bryn replied, placing a hand on her daughter's shoulder. "His father was killed in the Purge, but his mother was alive until a few weeks ago. He's been staying with a neighbor since then."
"But if 'family is more than blood', why is he coming here?" Ajay asked.
"Because he wants to stay with his own Clan," Paz answered.
"Is he gonna sleep in the empty bunk in our room?" Evet asked.
"I'm keeping my top bunk!" Ajay added.
Bryn took another deep breath. "Yes, he wil be taking the empty bunk--but we'll figure out all the details later. Now, are you ready to meet him?"
"Do we have to put our helmets on?" Evet asked.
"Not unless you want to," Bryn assured him. The younger children were still getting used to not having to keep their faces covered, and would occasionally ask about helmets for various circumstances. However, all of them chose to remain without this time.
"Okay, we're ready," Paz said into his comm.
"Sending him over now," Cara replied, and a few moments later, there was a knock at the door.
Paz pushed the button on his vambrace to reveal the soon-to-be newest member of their branch of Clan Vizsla.
"I'm his big sister?" Kyri asked, now wide awake.
"No--you're still the youngest," Ajay told her, rolling his eyes.
"But I wanted a baby brother!" Kyri replied, her words turning into a wail as she dissolved into tears.
"Great," Ragnar, said, watching as Jos carried her little sister into their bedroom.
"She's not always like that--she just needs a nap really bad," Jerem explained, holding out a hand to grasp, giving his cousin a small smile.
Ragnar gave him a similar smile back, and sat down on the cushion next to him--the one Jos had just vacated.
"Everyone, this is Ragnar--as I said earlier, he's twelve. Ragnar, these are our children, minus the two who just left--Joselin, who's eighteen and Kyri, who's three. I would like each of you to introduce yourselves, and tell Ragnar how old you are, starting with Miri," Bryn said.
Once they'd done that, Ragnar tried to recall each of the children's names and ages, instantly retaining some while others he forgot multiple times. However, the six of them--seven when Jos rejoined them--were having a good time, cheering when their soon-to-be brother got one right, and laughing when he purposefully started getting them wrong.
"I think this is gonna work," Paz said softly, giving Bryn's hand a squeeze.
Bryn squeezed back, giving her husband a smile. "So do I."
****
When Kyri awoke, Bryn and Paz spoke the adoption vow, making Ragnar an official part of their Clan. They spent the remainder of the afternoon getting the boy settled, and his meager posessions put away. Jerem used his datapad to reconfigure the chore chart, and Miri used hers to readjust the quantities of food they would need to buy to accommodate another growing child.
That night, after they themselves were ready for bed, they made their nightly rounds. Bryn smiled, her heart full, as the dim light from the hall revealed all four boys piled on three mattresses on the floor, with Ragnar snuggled in the middle.
