Into The Casino part 2
Almost there. So close she could taste it. "I'm sorry, Miss," the tall demon blocking her way looked her up and down at her with a grimace, "But we don't let anyone that smells like wet dog in my boss's dining area." Like I said. Almost. She stood there still shivering and wet but was stopped by the bulkier rude demon standing by the entrance where the excellent smell was. But it looks like she wasn't getting in.聽 "P-Please, Sir." Her ears went back as she awkwardly shifted on her hooves. "I just want a little food. Water would be fine too-" "Listen ya lil' mutt," he grunted and leaned down making her instinctively shrink down. Ears pinned to her head, eyes wide, " If I let the first dirty little f*cking rat that begs for food in then everyone will start begging and fighting for food and I ain't going to put my job on the line for some stupid wet horse! Now scram before I make ya!" He raised an arm to fake smack her and she choked out a squeak before ducking and scurrying away back towards the stairs. Some other demons smirked or stared annoyed at her as she dashed past but she didn't care right now. She felt a little better getting away from the embarrassing stares but only a little, as her stomach rumbled again and was again she was reminded of how empty her stomach really was. She was just getting all the luck wasn't she? Cold, wet, hungry, and now publicly embarrassed. What else could possibly go wrong?....On second thought, she'd rather not know. She managed to find an empty bench on one side of the hallway and flopped down onto it without a second thought. Groaning before leaning against the wall and closing her eyes or just a moment.聽 What a disaster. The only good part about this whole thing is that she wasn't getting rained on. Maybe she should've tried another place, but maybe the 'hiding in plain sight' tactic would help her even more. Guess she didn't really have much of a choice now- Another rumble made her grunt and open her eyes to glare at her stomach. Could demons die again from starvation? But at least the view was kinda nice. From the second floor she could see the strange machines with the spinning pictures, the giant chandelier(a lot better now since she didn't have to strain her neck), and the crowd of demons laughing and drinking away- That one demon staring right back at her- Wait. What?! She snapped her gaze away from the other immediately. Stupid! Just broke another rule one quickly learnt down here. Don't make eye contact unless you wanted trouble. If she just kept her head down it should be fine. Unknown to her, the other demon smiled amused at this. Oh, yeah. This one was one of the keep your head down and avoid interaction types. She didn't even need a computer brain to tell she wouldn't be trouble. Still...If there was one thing she new, it was to never underestimate someone by their looks. Jude them on behavior. So far this little pony's acted like a lost puppy for the past hour, wondering around and looking at things, begging for food, and now sulking and pretending to not see her in a corner. Probably should've estimated the possibility of being seen, but oh well. Now that she was spotted, maybe it was a good time for some answers. Lou did say if there was something going on he wanted to know what it was. She began walking over towards her with the same smile. She didn't bolt like she was expecting, but as soon as she stopped in front of her she instead sort of shrank a little more against the wall like she could melt into it. Still looking down. "Hey, there." She flinched. "I couldn't help but overhear you're little trouble you had with Ol' Beef Ben over there." She nodded towards the kitchen entrance but she didn't look up. "Are you really hungry? I might be able to get ya some food." "N-No thank you. I'm fine." Nothing was ever free down there. There was always a catch. Her stomach rumbled again from the emptiness and she winced. The other demon rose a brow. "Uh. Huh. Well, y'know I could get you something ta eat in exchange you answer a few questions." ".....What kind of questions?" She slowly looked up from the floor and met her eyes. She shrugged. "Just some simple questions for my boss. Whaddya say? Food for some words?" There was a silence between the two as one stood patiently smiling at the soaked nervous one. Until finally she spoke up. "Just...some answers?" "Yep. That's it!" "Why? I-I didn't do anything?" She shrugged. "Probably not, but I'd rather make sure. So is that a yes I'm hearing?" Another small pause- "I-....Ok?" She smiled wider. "Good choice. Stay here."聽 That last part seemed more like a command but she didn't dare move after that. She watched as she walked off towards the same demon that had blocked her out. The two exchanged a couple words before the buffer demon stepped aside and let her through before stepping back into place. She wondered if she should take this opportunity to run and never look back....but what if she was just tracked down? Or worse. Killed? Oh no. What did she get into now? She shifted uncomfortably and kept glancing at the doorway for what seemed like forever until the small demon came back around the demon's side and back towards her. In her hands was a small loaf of bread.聽 She smiled and held it out to her. "It's the only thing they could let me wrestle away. Sorry." Her stomach rumbled again and she reached out and grabbed it from her. Immediately biting down and chewing away at it. The other demon raised an amused brow as she watched. "You're pretty hungry huh? Hehe. What's your name?" "....."She looked up at her from the bread. "...They call me Amalfia." "Name's Cyber." She plopped down next to her on the bench and crossed her legs. "...You aren't from around here huh?" She got quiet for a couple seconds staring at the bread, before looking back at her. "N-Not really. I'm not-......average I guess." "You're telling me. How about dropping some insight, hmm? How'd a girl like you get down here?" "....I don't really feel comfortable talking about that." "Fine. If you don't want to spill then I'll take my part of the deal back." She reached for the remaining food, but the unicorn was quick to pull it away from reach. She shrugged. "Well if you won't keep your end of the deal, I won't keep mine. Now hand that over-" She held out her hand. "-before I have to get physical or start spilling out some info...Your call." The two stared at each other for another long moment before she sighed and looked down in defeat. "What do you want to know?" ================================== The fresh scent of coffee and weed killer filled the air as he calmly swept through the news paper in his hands. Another extermination cleaned out almost a quarter of the city from the west side. Lots of big name demons were killed this time. Shame. Some were really good clients. Paid well. A knock at the door made him look up briefly before going back to his paper. "Door's open." The door opened and a smiling face greeted them. "Hey, Boss. Busy? "Not much. You have something to tell me?" His red eyes glanced curiously at her. She smiled wider. "Actually, I think you'd be pretty interested." The newspaper was carefully folded and placed back down onto the desk in front of him before he looked at the girl with a curled grin. Clearly interested. "You have my attention."聽聽
