Incredible to remember#was it bc d o'b hit it big w the maze runner films. was it bc tyler p was mad people paid more attention to the ship than to him#the main character.... was it JD's feeling of spiralling loss of control#this was the first fandom i remember ppl CAMPAIGNING for the ship and saying it was literally going to happen. and - more than that -#saying this ship was BETTER than certain other ships. beCAUSE it was going to happen. and /or bc it COULD happen#and they were not totally wrong right? bc this show made such a big deal out of being gay friendly 'this is a world without homophobia' &c#And yet that was a shallow statement bc the show had such a twink-centric view of sexuality.
