Anime of the day: Warau Arsnotoria Sun!
Tumblr media
Alt title: Smile of the Arsnotoria the Animation
Released: 2022
Arsnotoria is a student at a magical academy. She studies magic, etiquette and normal educational stuff with her peers. In her dorm she lives alongside Mell, Pictrix, Alberta, and Abramelin. Together these girls eat sweets and host tea parties, and maybe, on occasion, they take a little adventure.

Episode 3
Tumblr media
This episode centers around the Sun.
Tumblr media
This is evident from this line alone. In fact, one wonders how a normal watcher is to take such cryptic statements. It's very convenient for us, however. The mystery of the day is chalked to the sun and perhaps there are religious implications.
Sun worship goes far with Helios and Apollo being examples of sun gods. Note also that the episode spans the whole day; from morning when they awaken to the end of the day.
The very anime is called Warau Arsnotoria Sun! I don't think the latter is even part of the original game- which is only Warau Arsnotoria- and was added only for the anime, oddly.

The warning this time occurs early; immediately on the beginning of the episode. It's hard to miss the reference to Ecclesiastes as a speck of dust is shown.
"All go to one place; all come from dust, and all return to dust." - Ecclesiastes 3:20
Ecclesiastes questions how should one live if everyone will "return to dust" no matter what. The placing of the warning at the beginning perhaps emphasizes the finality of the message. It's unnecessary to say how this follows-up from the previous warnings.
When we look at the first three episodes, don't the warnings move from the end to the beginning?
Tumblr media
If we then look at these episodes together, the warnings form a pictogram representing the setting of the Sun.
I should probably give the reader some time to let this fully sink in. This is one, if not the, most elaborate compositions of the entire anime.
The very anime is called Warau Arsnotoria Sun! I don't think the latter is even part of the game's name- which is only Warau Arsnotoria- and was added only for the anime, oddly.
Allegory of the sun
It's convenient that I mentioned the Allegory of the cave as it was preceded by Plato's allegory of the sun. Plato compares the concept of Goodness to the Sun. The Sun imparts knowledge and truth through sight, yet sight is not the Sun itself. We're imparted a fraction of knowledge through goodness but that is not Knowledge or Goodness itself.
This is later followed by the allegory of the cave which expands the analysis- the cave inhabitant sees only its projected shadows.
Even this is encompassed by the symbology of the sun.
It's no surprise that this very anime is called Warau Arsnotoria Sun!
Episode 4
Tumblr media
The next episode focuses on the moon- an interesting follow-up.
A discussion on stars follows.
I wondered if some even more elaborate composition was at play. Maybe every warning represents a particular planet. Is the warning late because they meet while the moon is high? Is the warning early on episode 6(we'll get there) since it's morning?
Still, there doesn't seem to be any such thing. The anime is noncommittal. While many episodes still reference particular planets, there seems to be no greater composition.
