Concept: Fighting Styles
Tom being the best fighter for a while in s1 not because he was technically skilled, but because he was reckless. For a group not used to having to fight or die, as a zombie he didn't feel the same strain on his body as he fought.
Heavier swords, more power behind his movements, less pain after each hit taken. Tom took over the battlefield because he was a zombie, unable to feel the consequences of his reckless, destructive behavior.
Which is why, when the playing field was leveled through gear and improvement, Tom started to fall behind in combat prowess. Why Jordan began to outmatch Tom.
Jordan was pure technical skill. He was meticulous and methodic in his practice, preferring the discipline of bows over the raw power of swords. He took his time, planned his blows, and knew where to best hit his opponent. Tom didn't feel pain as much as the others, but a good strike still would take him down and have him grit his teeth.
Tucker focused on his swordsmanship and working shields into his style. If Tom was sheer force, Tucker was a solid defense. The first time Tucker blocked Tom's sword and held firm, a shift happened between them. It wasn't Tom dominating every fight anymore. It was a genuine battle, an actual dance of blades.
Sonja isn't a fighter, but she's quick and agile. Unless she has to make a stand, she runs, darting between trees and bushes and rocks and leaving people behind in a daze of twists and turns. When she has to fight it's with a single shortsword, allowing her to sneak in quick, shallow hits that wear you down over time. Against Tom, she is at a disadvantage, but if need be she can work to wear him down until one of the others arrives.
Wag doesn't fight in any traditional means. He is a magic user through and through, even when stripped of it. With his magic he is a force to be reckoned with, able to conjure up a quick defense or blast out a strong offense. Without it, he works on deceptions and slight of hand. It's similar to magic, really, all about getting the opponents focus away from what you're really trying to do. While his form with a sword is sloppy at best and his bow aim is barely there, as long as he can get you distracted he stands a fighting chance. And if things go south, one good misdirect is all he needs to a quick exit.

👀.
So, maybe it’s just because I’ve been playing a lot of Stardew Valley lately, but I have been having a couple of thoughts about a Mianite Stardew-esque au, but I have not nearly enough ideas right now to write anything for it.
Like the general idea is that Sonja has recently moved to a smallish coastal town. She’s less a farmer, more witchy vibes. She is growing plants, but mostly stuff for her own research and magic. She ends up roped into growing things for the locals, as she quickly realises her plan to move into the old farm house and be left alone isn’t actually an option.
Within her first week, she’s basically jumped on by Tom, the son of a local business owner, who's excited for a fresh face in town. He doesn’t understand magic at all, and ends up introducing her to his friends as the new farmer, but she has to admit that his excite is intoxicating and it is nice to actually have people around that are her own age (her old mentor was both pretty much the only person she spoke to by the time she moved, and older than by more than a few decades).
There’s Tucker (blacksmith’s apprentice) whose grumpy but friendly enough, Jordan (gonna be honest, no idea) who Tom spends the whole time flirting with, Capsize (runs a diving business with her brother) who grimaces as Jordan introduces her as his girlfriend, Waglington (he claims he’s a freelance architect, but Sonja clocks he right away as a wizard - he’s both) who sits quietly sipping a drink as the others begin bickering. Sonja has no idea what to really make of the group after their first meeting, but finds herself definitely in their friendship group rather quickly.
Generally it’s just like a small town, cosy vibes, but also there’s probably like an evil supermarket threatening the vibes or something. Definitely Foxxsize (and Syndisparklez once Jordan gets his shit together). But like small town witch Sonja having some good time vibes with new friends.

so i was going to come on here and tell yall about this dream i had that seemed very mianite influenced, but then it got me thinking about the wizards
so, correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure it was cannon that in s1 vs. s2, the wizards were playing the different alternates of themselves (excluding wag but stay with me)
so if thats the case, imagine the angst that couldve come from wag pre s2 but after s1 where wag does the teleportation spell, and sees these 3 wizards that look and sound practically identical to his brothers even so far as having the same names, but they just think wags this crazed lunatic thats full of it and is making everything up because its all just too absurdly bazaar to believe, and thats the storytelling reason wag isnt hanging out with those 3 as much in s2

I'm very happy to announce my longest project yet for the past (now) 6 years me and my wonderful working project partner Setora have been creating an amazing story between these two masters
Waglington the wizard and Setosorcerer the Sorcerer and the great magic war, I'm so happy to show you one of our current (not final) concept our teaser cover art idea
Another exciting news, this will turn into an animation show!! Once this book gets unofficial released (locally and order online) we already started on the animation, but it's taken so many years just the two of us to complete and to do mostly myself aha,
But I hope all of you will join us for this amazing project!
(Title still working on) ❤️

So the mianite wizards aren’t human or gods right? They’re something in between? wonder if waglington had to quickly get used to what it felt like to be humanish again. To bleed

no court can be complete without Mianite's star builders, so meet the Fyerians- Matt Firez, Phil Brute Almighty, the iconic "Killer"Tom, and the starwizard Waglington! :D
Bonus lore and dev under the cut!
No one's sure exactly where or how they came to be but they are known as the most magical beings across the vast Aether, drawing energy from the stars to do something no starborne has done before- a reality manipulation of the state of space matter (or in the case of Wag, create it out of pure energy) Luckily for us, they put these powers to good use for such purposes as turning piles of debris into the most grandiose of builds, including newer parts of the king's palace itself (designed by their good friend and architect associate Sonja! :])
Matt and Phil were was the first to be hired by Mianite after they just sort of appeared out of the Aether together from No Planet In Particular, and serve as the head engineers. Tom comes out of the void a little later to join them as a designer and power specialist, and Waglington (having had no proper family as starwizards are born directly from a fragment off the central star) was adopted by the trio, and theyve been a family ever since :D
While Waglington and other starwizards (such as Martha) draw their magic abilities to craft matter from their actual internal organs (channeled through the beads on his waistband), the other Fyerians all have a glowing white star embedded to somewhere on their torso created from a similar magic that allow them to draw magic from for block duplication, moving whole structures, etc. Their soul is also encased within these crystalline growths, so if they were to get damaged...

So, I’ve been looking through my notes for different AUs because as it turns out I have a lot (and half the ones I open turn out to be about OCs, which I could ramble about, but not right now). So I wanna ramble for a little bit about my Mianite Blades in the Dark AU, which I have written a one shot for (and have a second one on my list of things to write), but I have no idea when I’ll actually get around to writing more of.
So I’ve talked previously about the Ianitees in this AU (here and here), mostly because that gang was important for the set up of the oneshot, but I haven’t talked about the full plot I actually wanted to go through.
So, Sonja has learnt that Capsize is alive, despite her death having been widely accepted, and that Jordan has gotten himself possessed by a demon. Once their reunion has had time to sink in, Wag joins the ladies to start presenting the actual full situation with what’s possessing Jordan: The Shadows - a demon whose true name has been lost to time but has been kept trapped inside the Shadow Diamond jewels. The arcane seals were beginning to fail, typically not the biggest deal as people with occult power like Wag will just strengthen the seal before it can break out and possess anyone and the whole thing will be fine for another hundred years. Unfortunately Capsize and Jordan touched the pieces, allowing the demon to fully break the seal and possess Jordan (due to Capsize’s demonbane’s charm protecting her).
Wag goes on to explain that the easiest way to get the demon out of Jordan without either killing him or them all having to fight a demon that full strength, is to redo the original sealing ritual, for which they’ll need to collect every single one of the jewellery pieces without alerting possessed!Jordan to either the fact they’re collecting them or that Capsize is actually alive. Sonja asks why they need to track them down at all, given that Ianite should have all the pieces but the ring that Wag has and a pair of earrings (that she saw Jordan wearing) in her private collection. Wag says they had assumed so too, but that pieces of the collection have been sold through some of the city’s shadier methods, to binders far richer than himself.
So, with very few leads on where exactly to start, Capsize suggests that they need a bigger crew. Sonja assumes she means getting someone from Ianite’s crew into the know, but Capsize shakes her head, there’s too much of a risk of being caught by the demon and it just running off with Jordan’s body. They need someone connected enough in the criminal world of the city to get them leads, but also someone who won’t rat out that Capsize is alive and will believe them about Jordan not being Jordan.
Enter Tom: the right-hand of one of the other two major gangs in the city, Jordan’s sometime’s maybe boyfriend, and a good friend of Capsize despite their opposing gangs. Tom is a Slide, known for his two methods of criminal activity either being subtle social manipulations or extremely loud heists typically involving explosions. For the past month, he’s noticed odd changes in Jordan. At first he’d attributed it to watching Capsize die, but he slowly started to think that something was completely and utterly wrong with how seemingly callous he’s become. When he’s summoned by Wag, he thinks the invitation is odd, but still visits the man, surprised but overwhelmingly happy to see Capsize alive. They catch him up to speed on the situation and he agrees to help them, and also says he’ll gather some makeup and clothes so Capsize can go around the city without her survival being made clear.
Then the story is a bunch of heists with a slowly growing crew. I don’t have too many ideas for heists, except for one taking place at a charity ball/auctions run by Spark (who had “miraculously recovered” one of the Shadow Diamond pieces and is auctioning it off with permission of the original owners), where they need to publicly steal a the jewel both without being caught and without Spark (or any other members of Ianite’s crew at the venue) realising that Capsize is alive.
