there’s no denying that he’s nervous. he hasn’t seen some of these people in ten years or so, and some of them tooru isn’t sure he’s met in an official capacity ever. but shouyou had sent him the invite, and tooru could acknowledge, if only to himself, that it didn’t take much more beyond that fact to convince him to agree.

taking a moment to fortify himself, tooru glances at his phone to cross check the details shouyou sent him against his location to make sure he was at the right place. once he was sure they were scheduled to meet at the restaurant on the corner, he looks away briefly to put his phone away. mid-motion, something catches his eye and forces him into a comical double take. he’s expecting some familiar faces, sure, but not this one. “ehh?? no, whoa, what’re you doing here?! weren’t you working in london?!”

Whoever thought a bunch of high school seniors needed a petting zoo event before graduation was on to something: there ranged an assortment of dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits in the school library space. Mark was largely absent until this point with his newfound hero life, but maybe he can show up to this event. He begged and begged his dad to let him, arguing the point: What if I never get to pet another dog again?

He floated between the different enclosures, lingering with the fluffy golden retrievers the longest until he recognized @vtriol in the distance, kneeling in the bunny pen. He steps in, scooping up a white bunny that accepted his fate in his gentle grasp.

"Hey. He kinda looks like you."

he contemplates time, the human construct, the unit of measure; oikawa tooru struck with wonder—how a single person can exert such influence over something as vast as the universe's very existence. after all, it's rare for anything to make time stand still, yet thana's mere presence achieves just that. the exact count of smiles shared or kisses exchanged is unknown to him, but in thana's company, the only necessity is to simply exist. thus, tooru surrenders to the flow, his touch exploring thana's skin, fingers tracing aimless patterns through their hair, lips meeting in a rhythm of kisses—again, and again, and once more. “ we should probably get up. or you'll miss your flight. ”

Sure, it might not have all been him, but he'd seen enough to land surrender himself in cuffs the moment he'd make it out of this. If they won't punish him, then he will himself. But he knows it's not what his lover would want. He knows it's something they'd even fight. For all that impishness in them ... they truly are kind. They might pout if he said that, he thinks with light bemusement.

"Thana, I..." Don't deserve this. Don't deserve you. Can almost not face you. He leans forth, burying his face into their shoulder, hands hovering at first above their waist, then settling atop it, breathing in their scent. "As are you." He will relent this time, because there's nowhere he'd rather be; nowhere that feels nearly as much as home as it does in their arms. "I think I owe everything to you right now."
