With how delicately and lovingly Volo holds his Togepi, he surely can't be evil. I think we should let him have Arceus and see what he does.

A cute thought is taking ur pokebf out clothes shopping and letting him pick out pieces for you.
Ingo would try so hard to find something that matches your preferences and style, but may just throw in a few things that he likes and hopes you will, too. He worries too much that you will think his choices show a lack of understanding in you. (He would love to wear something like matching outfits with you. It is just in his nature.)
Emmet immediately picks out things that almost certainly shouldn't be worn in public and whines when you tell him no. He then tries to pick things out similar to what he usually sees you wear. Though, a few personal preferences by him are tossed in. (Joltik t-shirt or sweater. He likes seeing you dressed up in something that connects you both in some way.)
Cyrus has no idea what he is doing and just tries to give you more money to let you pick instead. Upon being forced, he picks out things that seem like they would compliment you well or are quite functional over style. Then, he pulls out something with an obvious sci-fi space inspiration. (He has no idea what he is doing and just wishes that something that appeases you can be found quickly. If you actually wear the sci-fi space outfit, he is genuinely stricken and impressed.)
Nanu grumbles and picks out a random t-shirt at the boutique in Malie. He has no idea how to shop for himself half the time, so it's worse for others. If he's feeling a certain way, he might pull out lingerie and cock a brow up. You will have to take over from him. (He offers a specific t-shirt with a Meowth on it. He does genuinely like it and would want to see you wear it.)
N is admittedly not the most familiar with clothes shopping and spends way too long contemplating how to do it. Your tastes are going to be slightly misunderstood to him since he is not the most aware of fashion, either. He ultimately picks out something he thinks is nice and offers it to you in the hopes you will like it. (It's something cute and sweet. Please wear it. He tried his best.)
Larry picks you out a wonderful office wear outfit. You will be able to look like a working professional in no time at all. He shrugs when you ask for something different. He's lost that piece of himself, and there's no regaining it, alas. (He doesn't really feel bothered if you wear it or don't. He knows his performance was just adequate. Would be pleasantly surprised if you did, though.)
Volo instead offers you his own wares. Well, actually, on Pasio, he is quite intrigued by the offerings on the stores. He almost disappears for far too long to pop out with something that is eerily exactly to your tastes and preferences. Congratulations. (He is quite proud of his talent of reading people and knowing them well. His smugness almost lingers in the air when you wear what he picked out.)

Most bird hybrids probably unconsciously coo when their mate helps them preen their feathers. While for Archeops Ingo and Emmet, it's quite cute and expected. (Ingo letting out all kinds of sounds with little filter and getting embarrassed. Emmet clearly liking the cadence provided by cooing and just doing it to show how much he enjoys the gentle touches and help.) But for other bird hybrids, it must sound so funny.
Honchkrow Cyrus does it and then goes wide eyes and now Has To Go. He cannot handle the fact that he made such a sound, even unconsciously. It simply should not come from someone like him. (You have to pretend you don't hear them to get him to return.)
Staraptor Larry simply has no idea how to feel. It leaves him, and it startles him. His wings spread out from the surprise. Then, he realises what it was and calms down. The preening continues uninterrupted further more. He just lets out occasionally coos, unbothered.
Togekiss Volo lets out a coo and hates it. His pride in his heritage gets drowned out by how this human could reduce him to such sounds. He does not stop you, however. Wing upkeep is important to him, so it must go on. He just tries to fight against the urge to coo. (Though, perhaps, after everything is said and done timeline wise, he accepts begrudgingly. Of course, Arceus's chosen could preen his wing well enough to make him coo. That makes sense.)

There is a theory out there apparently that Volo and Cogita's people may have been wiped out in some way, and they are like among the remaining survivors of them. It might explain why Volo is, well, like that, and why you don't encounter any others who have ancient Sinnoh blood. While a fascinating theory that should be explored in depth by someone more attuned to the lore of PLA... It made me rethink some things about Volo.
In that case, should his plans fail, and s/o was the chosen one by Arceus, he would probably be obsessed with rebuilding his lost people with them... He would actually not be such a distant father, but rather more attentive since he desperately wants to pass on the last pieces of his culture and myths onto them so they do not get lost. (Granted, that would just be in general, but in the case that s/o got Arceus's blessing or whatever, he would be even more obsessed.)
All this is a lead-in to a joke of Cynthia checking her family records and seeing one Ancestor in the 1800s randomly had like ten kids with none of the following or previous generations having that at all.

You capture Giratina in Hisui. You treat it with love and affection, which makes the Renegade pokemon feel much better after everything. It comes to love you as its trainer and is super affectionate and caring towards you.
You meet Volo again. Whenever you are around petting it, it is happy and normal. Whenever you leave, it death glares at Volo and tries to threaten him.

Do you think bird hybrids teach their kids to fly the same way real world birds do, AKA either forcing the fledglings to jump or leaving them to figure it out on their own?
Unfortunately I think flight is a very instinctual thing and there’s no theoretical way to teach someone besides a visual example. It’s a literal leap of faith.
Of course, hybrids would make sure there’s a safe landing on the off chance they don’t quite succeed.
Tumblr media
anon,,, good thoughts....
Absolutely, it has to be done with a "leap" of faith. (Well, definitely done within a controlled environment to prevent any harm to their child, of course.) Their more human sides will certainly not like it (and their human mate may be even more distressed), but they know they must in order to teach their children proper flight skills.
Archeops Ingo specifically hates this. Erin is already such a fragile little boy... Shoving him off a high area to learn how to fly just seems too cruel. Plus, he can already tell that his scared boy will freeze and almost certainly crash down onto the padding below and cry for hours afterward. The Subway Boss is not mentally prepared to handle that. Until he does it one day. Erin screams, but he does fly. Then falls. And crashes onto the padding. Ingo goes down comfort him. (Archen just aren't very good at flying. Erin did his best 😔.)
Archeops Emmet, on the other hand, is so ready to teach his girls. He is setting up everything for them and keeping in mind that Archen are not the best flyers. But he is. His kids must be, too. Inka proceeds to decimate his expectations and learns to fly on her own to his endless distress. Why? How? He can not even think as she easily takes off into the air. He then tries to Emma, who is not really into this whole flying thing but tries for him. She does learn pretty well and quickly, so he can not complain. He is just sad that Inka beat him to teaching her.
Honchkrow Cyrus knows he must teach his poor Cyllene one day, but he fears it dearly. His parents never truly engaged his instincts, and he had to learn to fly on his own. How dearly he wished for the situation for himself. He truly is afraid to teach her. The idea of her getting hurt leaves him in a state like no other. Truthfully, his mate will probably have to step and teach her. (Though, if she falls out before she can fly, his flying speeds to catch her are truly terrifying.)
Togekiss Volo does it with ease. That is how it goes in their time period and culture. He makes sure his adorable Togetic daughter learns quickly that flight is most important to them. Though, she's likely a teenager at this point, she is more than used to his behaviour at this point.
Staraptor Larry has a pretty normal time teaching his kids. His little Starly son and daughter have it go well, of course. Watching from an outside point of view, it is boring. But, Larry is distressed. Flying for the first time is always scary. He is internally screaming while keeping poker face. It still goes well, of course. He just feels panicked.

Hmm, the more I think about it, Volo might feel betrayed when hero of Hisui s/o leaves back from Hisui to Sinnoh. Especially if he's cursed with immortality for what he did/finds it on his own to keep pursuing his goals. Over the years, he grows desperate to see them again and cannot believe the centuries he bears alone. The only thing that keeps him going in the knowledge that he can meet them again.
Just one day, you are walking through modern Jubilife, reflecting on how it was to you what could not have even been a month ago to you mentally. Then suddenly, arms come around you, and all you see is long blond hair and a heavy coat. An eerily familiar voice coos in your ear, "Found you..."
then you're never seen again jkjk

Whether Volo loves his egg or not truly is up for debate because of his line about manipulation in the masters and that "Love for Pokemon" only has a one-note ranking in the lodge. As someone who loves Cyrus, who also gets this great debate, I think I can explain what is meant by his words.
Essentially, Volo lives in a mindset that people will either use him if he does not use them first. Does this apply to pokemon? Maybe, but it is doubtful. He's probably just speaking on matters between human people, not a tiny egg daughter that completely relies on him.
The reason that "Love For Pokemon" is so low ranked among his lodge options is likely because he simply does not want to show vulnerability or a certain openness to get him taken advantage of. That goes back to the previous point, actually. It is just another way Volo is being toxic yet protecting himself.
Now, the final point. N says that Togepi loves Volo, that it is clear from the sweetness of her voice, and that she says Volo takes such good care of her. And that said Togepi later evolves into Togetic, which requires high friendship.
Plus, do people think Volo really feels that a Togepi can take advantage of him? Tiny clumsy egg daughter? He loves that egg, like a certain other hypocrite who loves his bat.
(Both him and Cyrus likely only feel they can truly "trust" their pokemon since they are beings that clearly are not overtly capable of being cruel and hurting them. Or maybe I'm making these two too soft lol)
