#yukigame #yukivr #yukimr #bullethell #oni #vrgaming #viveexelite #vivevr #digitalart #splashart https://www.instagram.com/p/CnM0IlguX0q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Paracytik Entertainment Releases Exciting New VR Game Trailer For DEMENT
Hey everyone! My name is Jade and I am very excited to say that on July 6, 2019, we finally released the official first trailer for Dement, our upcoming fully fledged VR video game!
Tumblr media
Set for release in Fall 2019, Dement is an exploration of perception -- of ourselves, of our relationships, and of the world around us. Play your way through a city that is not what it seems to be and uncover the truth that lies beneath… or the lies that become truths in this twisted world.
youtube
Our team at Paracytik is very excited to now take these first steps towards sharing our passion-project with the world. Containing over 20 hours of immersive game-play, Dement is a story-telling VR experience exploring themes of identity, perception, and how these shape our relationships. I know I have certainly enjoyed playing during these past few years, watching the growth of what was once a mere idea blossom into a fully-fleshed out, illustrative VR game.  For you Star Trek fans, this gaming experience could really be called a holo-novel where you play the lead role!
Finally, after more than three years of development, during which we spent countless hours of work (read as: blood, sweat, and many, many tears), our team is excited to announce that Dement is approaching completion. Our days (weeks) spent in front of a screen with no glimpse of the sun are hopefully coming to a close, and we can finally see the light of game-launch at the end the developmental tunnel.
Tumblr media
A rich, story-driven dark psychological thriller, Dement is a VR game that is built to offer players the best of what Paracytik Entertainment can offer! As one of the writers on this project, I can say that put our all into developing not only an engaging story, but into developing the world of Dement. The player is not only a stranger in a strange land, but a part of the action, and can become an integral part of all the stories to be discovered in the community of the sunken Wolfvale.
Tumblr media
Explore more than 10 different handmade areas, each one containing unique puzzles, characters and clues to the mysteries of Wolfvale. Inspired by the likes of Twin Peaks, The Twilight Zone and Silent Hill, the environments are as much a part of the story as the characters that inhabit them. From the urban jungle to the misty forests of the Pacific Northwest, Wolfvale and the surrounding regions offer hours of gameplay for anyone interested in an in-depth VR experience.
If the main questline isn't enough for you, don't fret! I understand the struggle of making your way through a game without having any worthwhile sidequests, and we all have worked hard to remedy that. We’ve written up a full cast of characters to populate the town of Wolfvale, offering a host of different options for each player to develop their own experience. The choices are yours!
Stay tuned for updates as our team streamlines the game for release over the next few months. I look forward to seeing you on our social media, or you can use #DementVR to join the conversation!

Exciting Details About The Game Design of Dement
Hello again to all you future Paracytik fans! It’s Jade, this time reporting from Stockholm, Sweden! It’s been a crazy week for all of us at Paracytik, now that our first trailer for Dement has finally been released! 🎉🎉
We are excited to see the interest and excitement surrounding Dement, so I thought I would give you all some additional details on the upcoming game, taking a closer look at some of the enemies that players may encounter, among other things...
Although a few of the enemies that the player may encounter were shown in the first trailer, there are quite a few more that have yet to be revealed... The “sunken” come in several different varieties, each with a little touch that makes them unique as enemies.  We want to offer our players the sort of game that we ourselves would like to play, and an interesting variety of enemies ranks pretty high on that list of features.😊 Some enemies are blind and do not respond to flashlights, while others are deaf - they won’t respond to footsteps or gunshots. Every enemy type has a tailored hearing and seeing ability, from field of view to how far they can see. This also applies to how sensitive their hearing actually is, from stone-deaf to hyper-sensitive. Stealth is always a preferable tactic when it comes to avoiding your own death in Dement, especially when it comes to some of the bigger monsters.
Tumblr media
The inspiration for Dement came from many different places, and the team at Paracytik has added a few nods to the classics of the horror game genre in our own creation. 😉 One fun little easter egg that some of you likely have noticed would be the name of the larger region where Dement takes place... Quiet Mountain. Taking inspiration from the likes of Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, and similar media, the team at Paracytik has shaped Dement carefully with a sprinkling of meta-knowledge to add to the play experience of psychological horror enthusiasts. We have enjoyed fitting in these little nods to the works that inspired us, and we hope that our players will enjoy them too. Finding easter eggs in games during the PS2 era was a ton of fun. We have put a handful of them into our own game for our players to discover - some are easy, such as “Quiet Mountain,” while some are much harder to find. 👀 Explore the expansive environments and see if you can find them all!
Tumblr media
Although it may have been inspired by other genre classics, Dement has grown beyond being a simple homage to the likes of Silent Hill.  And while it has elements of horror, we like to think of it more as a psychological action/adventure thriller set in a horror world.  Even the “sunken” themselves, for all their monstrous appearance, may belie other mysteries for the player to unravel. What secrets will you discover?
A new trailer is already waiting in the wings, so stay tuned for more updates about Dement! I’m looking forward to sharing it with you! ❤❤❤❤❤

A Small Glimpse Into The Creative Promise of VR
vimeo
In this video, a former Disney animator offers us a glimpse into the creative power offered with VR. Using the HTC & Valve-developed Vive hardware and an application called TiltBrush, he sketches familiar characters in 3D space. I think one of the neatest things about this video is that despite the goggles, you can still really see the sheer delight on his face that he gets from being able to create and work around his creations in this new medium. Granted he works on the team
Soon consumers will have access to VR, the emergence of which is thanks in part to lots of buy in from companies like Google, Oculus(Facebook), and HTC and Valve. The Vive hardware has the ability to track where a person is in a space up to 10 square feet. The hardware can also tell the angle of your head or hands within one-tenth of a degree. We have the ability to move about a totally artificial space and create a world within it, a place to ourselves or a place for us to mingle, collaborate, compete, or carry a conversation with others. Oculus is offering somewhat similar but distinct hardware with motion controls that understand finger gestures as well as some degree of tracking.
It's a very exciting time. VR is a new, expressive medium and frontier that offers a tangibility to experience things new and old and express ourselves in ways we haven't even thought of yet. With my new company, I'll be working on several VR prototypes in addition to some VR consulting work, in both Unity and Unreal, if you're curious :). Hopefully as the prototypes take shape they'll show a lot of promise and I can get one or more of them developed into a commercial product!
I'll be attending Oculus Connect in LA the 23rd through the 26th. If you're going to be there and would like to meet up, let me know!
