Viral Pokerus: Aftermath & Modern Day
or, the effects of the Pokerus Transformation Outbreak on the Pokemon timeline.
The initial outbreak situation was fixed by a hero (Lucas) convincing Arceus to fix it. This is what lead to what would be known in the modern day as "Shifters", People who have a Pokemon form and vice versa.
The first Shifters were those who transformed in the Hisui Outbreak. The transformation into a Pokemon, from Pokerus, was originally a permanent change. But Arceus granted the transformed people their original human forms back. Afterwards, these people could switch between the forms at will.
At first these Pokemon forms were thought to only be something that those transformed by the virus would have. But years later as some of these Shifters had kids, and it was soon found to be something that could be passed on.
The exact rules were not known at the time do to the over abundance of Shifters. As a child of two Shifters is guarantied to be a Shifter themself. But for a Shifter with a non-Shifter the chance is much lower. Only about every 1 in 7 kids of a Shifter and a non-Shifter will be a Shifter.
The kind of Shifter the child is depends on the parents. Examples:
A Vaporeon Shifter in human form and a non-Shifter human, kids will either be full human or an Eevee Shifter.
A Vaporeon Shifter in Pokemon form and a non-shifter Espeon, kids will either be full Eevee or an Eevee Shifter
A Vaporeon Shifter and a Persian Shifter in human form, kids will either be full human or a Meowth shifter or an Eevee Shifter. (Parent Shifters in human form do not need to be in the same egg group)
A Vaporeon Shifter and a Persian Shifter in Pokemon form, kids will be either full Eevee, full Meowth, or an Eevee Shifter, or a Meowth Shifter. (Parent Shifter in Pokemon form need to be in the same egg group)
Multiple species that were likely to go extinct held on in the form of Shifters. For example it's predicted that the Hisuian form of Zoroark would have gone extinct in about 50 years from the time the Outbreak happen. But do to so many of the Pearl Clan of that era getting the Pokerus from them, they continue to exist today, in both full and Shifter form! Anyone who is a Hisui Zoroark Shifter most likely has ancestors from Pearl Clan.
But not all Shifters are the descendants of those from the Hisui Pokerus Outbreak. It is unknown the exact circumstances, but Pokerus either continued to be able to transform people, or it mutated to do that again after the original strain was destroyed.
However it is very rare for a human to catch Pokerus. But if someone does, they will transform into the first stage of the line that infected them. Jobs that involve a lot of interacting with Pokemon are at a higher risk of infection. In particular, jobs at Pokecenter, and Pokemon Breeders, have a particularly high chance of getting infected.
Remember, however, that purposefully getting a Pokemon sick with Pokerus is illegal. As purposefully getting a Pokemon sick with anything is considered Pokemon abuse. The creation and buying, and selling, of Pokerus cultures is also illegal, do to potential use as a bioweapon.
For those unexpectedly turning into a Pokemon, they will transform around the 2nd week of infection. It is advised to stay at a hospital or Pokecenter until no longer sick. If not, then it is highly advised to have some sort of caregiver during that time, preferably, a Shifter. It is best to have either a Shifter of the same line, or a regular Pokemon of the same line, as well, to help the new Shifter to get used to their new body.
Feeling towards Shifters depends on the region. In some regions, Shifters are highly regarded as powerful, helpful, important members of society who can translate for Pokemon. Other regions, however, see Shifters as lower class, strange, scary, animalistic. Shifters in those regions usually try to hide their statis. Relationships with Shifters are banned, both with humans and other Shifters. Yet other regions regard them as just a regular member of society.
It is to be noted that Shifters can not be caught in Pokeballs. However, they can still be used on a trainers team with proper paper work, of course, including the Shifters permission. It is not uncommon for Shifter trainers to fight each other one on one in lieu of a normal Pokemon battle, some even swap the roles and have their Pokemon act as the trainer in those fights.
Shifters can be befriended by rangers with the capture stylus. They, like with trainers, can be registered as partner Pokemon to rangers with proper paper work, including the Shifters permission. It is not uncommon for Shifter family members to accompany them.
Most Shifters prefer one form over the other. Usually the form they are born with. Highly skilled Shifters can get some of their Pokemon features to appear while in Human form. Clothing is, unfortunately, not included in the transformations. Shifters who frequently shift are asked to keep a bag of clothing on their person at all times.
The region with the highest Shifter to human ratio is Sinnoh do to being the descendants of those in the Hisui Pokerus Outbreak. Nearly half the population of Sinnoh are Shifters. There was also a noticeable uptick of humans infected with Pokerus during the Team Galactic Red Sky incident, it is unknown if these are related. The current region with the lowest ratio is the Orre region.
Shifters can also be a Shiny in Pokemon form, but like Shiny Pokemon, this is extremally rare. Shiny Shifters are rarer than full Shiny Pokemon. They may seem like a blessing, but it is often a curse. Known Shiny Shifters get a lot of media attention. Their privacy gets ignored. There are often kidnapping attempts, especially of Shifter children. Shiny Shifters usually stay in human form to avoid attention even if they prefer their other form.
Some Notable Shifters include: Cynthia (Garchomp), Elesa (H. Zoroark), Rowan (Pinsir), Steven Stone (Sableye), Maxie (Houndoom), Iris (Haxorus), Drayden (Haxorus), Kukui (Lycanroc), N (Zoroark), Ghetsis (Hydreigon), ect...

Fearful Ghosts
[Set in @shadowonwater's Viral Pokérus AU, which itself is inspired by @monsoon-of-art's Pokérus AU]
Urgh. Talk about a nightmare!
Iscan groaned, slowly rousing from the the worst dream he’d ever had. What had seemed to be a slight cold was actually that Pokérus thing the Clan had warned him about. And silly him, he thought it was something else at first because the transformative bug hadn’t been spreading in the Coastlands.
So he’d gone ahead with his plan to try and get past his fear of Dusclops, which had gone… marginally well? He’d at least managed to ask one to help flavor a treat for Lord Basculegion, but… well, the moment it was done, he was so ready to get out of there.
He just hadn’t gotten out soon enough, as when the high fever rolled around he wasn’t growing scales as he’d expected. Instead, his skin was turning grey and cloth-like.
The realization sent the poor Warden into a panic. He couldn’t be a Ghost. He just couldn’t! Ghosts were evil things that stole souls and ate them up! OK, his Lord was an exception, but still!
At some point he fell asleep, worn out after so much panic. And thank the Legends - he was waking up, and it was all a dream.
Had to be. Sinnoh wouldn’t let something so horrendous happen to him.
“...think he’s finally awake?” Eh? That wasn’t Palina.
“Dunno.
…you sure it’s the scardey-cat?” Nor was that…
“Positive. Boss-’mon saw the changes himself!”
“And the other Boss-’mon?”
“Yeah, he backed it up. Reluctantly.”
“And he’s seriously letting us be the welcome wagon?”
“With a warning to be on good behavior. And yes, he’s going to compensate .”
“So we can’t scare him? Aww, man-wait, where’d he go?”
Iscan hurried in dragging himself along the ground, having decided it’d be a bad idea to stay around those two. They weren’t familiar, and he didn’t want to risk them being Ghosts.
(The dragging was just in case he didn’t really have legs anymore, ok?)
At least he was in the woods, so… shore had to be close. If he was still on Firespit, at least.
Speaking of shore, he could see Lord Arcanine in the water, helping…was that one of his littermates? No, none of them had made it to the island. At least, not that he knew of.
But that was definitely a Growlithe trying to swim just off the coastline, so maybe he was wrong? Or maybe…
“P-Palina?”
Crap, he was too far out, they didn’t hear him! Drag himself a bit closer…closer… and maybe a bit louder this time?
“PALINA?”
Both giant puppy and small canine whirled to look his way. Yes! “Oh thank Sinnoh, it’s you…” A sigh of relief. “Just g-glad to see you’re alright.”
“Ah. Umm. Same for you, Iscan?” He blinked as Palina dragged herself out of the water, shaking herself off. Why did she sound so…nervous? Ignoring the fact that they’d both fully changed.
(He really hoped it wasn’t what he thought it was. Nope. Just a fish out of water, nothing else to see here.)
“OI!” Oh no, those two caught up! Turning to look, Iscan decided it was time to get the Distortion out of here. As he’d feared, his “welcoming party” had been two Ghosts - a Dusclops and a Drifloon. So time to get away from the soul-stealing monsters please and thank you.
He didn’t even consider his possible lack of legs, opting to get up and run. Running was faster, after all - and knowing he had ghosts after him? Meant speed was a very good thing to have.
The cowardly Warden raced towards the ocean, putting a hand to his mouth in an attempt to call his Lord. His whistling wasn’t as good as it normally was, and - oh dear, apparently it wasn’t good enough to call his Lord. Dart behind Lord Arcanine (they’d never try and steal a Noble’s soul) and keep trying, putting both hands in his mouth.
But try after try, it just wouldn’t work. Lord Basculegion never came.
The feeling of fabric on his shoulder sent chills throughout his body. Crap, they caught him, and now his soul was going to be eaten alive…
“Buddy! Please! Calm down!” Calm down. The Ghosts wanted him to calm down.
Laughter poured out at the mere thought. “W-what, s-so my soul will b-be easier to eat or something? Nope! Nopenopenopenop..”
A groan from his pursuers before Dusclops filled his vision. Iscan yelped, jumping back and-
Oh Legends, that felt weird! W-whatever it was, he couldn’t explain it. It was like he was in the same place as something else, but…that shouldn’t be possible! “...wow. Rude.” The Drifloon went through him - through him - and sighed, sharing a Look with the Dusclops. “Do we seriously have to put up with this?”
“Yeah. I got lucky with helping him, but you…” Was that Dusclops smirking? (Without a mouth?) “I seem to recall you giving the poor man one scare too many.”
“Oh, so this is punishment for me? Ugh. Well, what the Lord says goes, I guess…” Wat.
It wasn’t Lord Arcanine, he was just as confused. And none of the other Lords held sway over Firespit Island.
But…why would Lord Basculegion tell these ghosts to put up with him? Wouldn’t his Lord tell them to stay away? He had before, it was the only reason he hadn’t been accosted on duty since his first yea-
Where were his legs.
He couldn’t feel his legs at all! But he was standing, he had to be -
A look down instead confirmed his worst fears. He wasn’t standing. He was floating. Nothing was holding him up whatsoever. “This can’t be happening…”
Iscan’s lone whisper stilled all onlookers. He ignored the eyes on him, instead looking down at his hands - only to see small strips of cloth. “This can’t be happening.”
Drifting (drifting!!!) over the water, the praying coward looked at his reflection. Sinnoh, please don’t let it be a…
Duskull’s. A Duskull was looking at him from the water, gaping in shock. “This-this-THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!”
It hadn’t been a dream! He actually was a Duskull now! A soul-eating ghos-
The specter went dead straight as realization struck. Soul-eating. Oh, he might already be nibbling on Palina’s soul and not even know it!
He looked towards the Growlithe, ignoring her comments on Warden Ingo’s volume. For a split second, he even got closer, forgetting that it'd only make things worse.
There really wasn’t a choice, was there? “I…s-sorry, Palina…”
“Sorry? For wha-ISCAN! Wait!” But his love’s words fell on deaf “ears” as the Duskull sped off.
He knew the other Ghosts would follow him. And, for once, he welcomed it. All the better to keep Palina out of their soul-eating grasp.
As the cloth-and-mask ghost raced along, he missed seeing something that might’ve given him pause. Might’ve made him rethink Ghosts, just a little bit.
But his single-minded desire to protect Palina kept Iscan from seeing teardrops littering the path behind him.

Viral Pokerus: Emmet (Elesa and Drayden too)
You'll want to read about this post first, it talks about the modern day in the Viral Pokerus au. Feel like that's important to read because this is the modern day.
So you know the drill, Ingo goes missing because he falls back in time. Emmet has no idea what happened to Ingo and is panicking about his missing brother. He's been working himself to the bone trying to manage Gear Station by himself, take care of all their Pokemon, while also searching for any information about where his brother is.
This is all gets too much to mange when his many Joltik have Pokerus spreading among them. This isn't the first time Emmet's hoard of Joltik get Pokerus, this is just a different hoard than last time. As always caring for a bunch of sick Pokemon at once and trying to stop your other Pokemon from getting sick is hard. Elesa convinces him to focus on his Pokemon and let the depot agents take care of the station and let her take care of searching for Ingo. He agrees to this until the little Pokerus outbreak is taken care of.
Let's say... a few days of taking care of them later... Emmet notices he's also coming down with something. The thought that he caught their Pokerus does appear in his mind, but not seriously because it's rare for humans to catch it, he thinks it's just a human cold he caught coincidentally. He decides to check anyway just to be sure.
Those he engage in breeding either as a job or hobby are expected to keep at least one Pokerus test on hand, because of the heightened risk of the job. The one he has, he bought a long time ago, and it's just been sitting around. He uses it, and it comes out positive. Emmet's starting to worry but he knows old tests don't always work right so he goes and buys a new one. It also comes out positive.
Emmet's freaking out. It's official, he's going to turn into a little electric spider! In other circumstances, Emmet wouldn't mind this, he loves the Joltik line after all, being one would be cool. However he's already dealing this so much shit as is, he really can't handle this right now too!
Emmet isn't a fan of hospitals so he decides he wants to change at home. He calls Elesa and tells her what's happening and that he needs her help to take care of his Pokemon... and also him. She's happy to help him but tells him he should also call his uncle Drayden as well, to help. Emmet doesn't want to bother his uncle and adoptive father (adoptive since Emmet and Ingo's parents died when they were 13). He's a gym leader and a mayor, he's a very busy guy, not too mention he was also helping look for Ingo.
Elesa tells him very bluntly that if Drayden finds out, he'd been extremally upset about not helping Emmet and would feel like he was letting both of his sons down, now. Emmet agrees to call him. Drayden says he'll be right over, and not to worry, "it shouldn't be that bad" Elesa and Drayden are both born Shifters, so there's no worry about them catching Pokerus.
So they both get to Emmet and Ingo's house. Now they are both putting off searching for Ingo for now. The first couple of days since they got there, Emmet's been fine. But everybody's waiting for the shoe to drop, and eventually it does. Emmet gets hit with a really bad fever, that signals the start of the transformation.
Drayden and Elesa work together to care for Emmet and Ingo's Pokemon as well as Emmet himself. Emmet is getting smaller as the days go by, as well as growing the yellow fuzz that Joltik's have. At some point in there he starts being able to do little Thunder Shocks and batteries start to look kinda tasty.
He eventually fully transforms into a Joltik, the worst of the illness is over, although he still has a bit of a cold. Drayden and Elesa advise him to wait a few more days to feel better before he tries to turn back into a human. But eventually he feels fine, and figures out how to turn back.
Afterwards the two continue to work with Emmet in his Joltik form to try to get him more comfortable with it. Like eating electricity, crawling around in small spaces, using moves, and eventually doing some battling himself. Emmet finds that he does indeed enjoy his Pokemon form. And he has a realization that despite being born human, he was already thinking of himself as also being a Pokemon, alongside being human.
Before Drayden was going to leave back to his city, the three of them receive word of Ingo. Professor Rowan calls them and tells them of his recently missing assistant, Lucas, and that his assistant's friends realized that Lucas went back in time. But more relevant to them, it appears the missing Subway Boss was in the same time period as Lucas.
When Lucas went missing the Hero of Hisui wasn't exactly Dawn and Barry's first thought. But the fact that the Hero was said to be a time traveler, it didn't take them long to consider it. With just a little bit of research, along with Cynthia's help, they realized that that was where he went.
But other than the Hero there were also a few other documents that mention another time traveler. With Cynthia's knowledge of strong battlers across the world, she realizes that the 2nd time traveler was Ingo, the missing Subway Boss.
Knowing that Ingo wound up in Hisui is pretty worrying, considering all the chaos that went down at that period. It may be another region but knowing about the event that created Shifters is basic knowledge.
It isn't hard for Emmet, Elesa, and Drayden to look up information from that time. They were even able to find a photo of all the wardens in their Pokemon forms. They recognize that hat and coat, and know that Ingo turned into a H. Sneasel.
Elesa makes a joke about the brothers continuing to match through time and space, considering they both became Shifters while they were separated.
Elesa also thinks it’s cool that Ingo is in the Pearl Clan. She is a H. Zoroark and has Pearl Clan heritage. It’s kind of exciting for her that Ingo might have been friends with one of her ancestors.
They worry about Ingo getting back to the correct time. The legends mention the time traveling Hero going back to his original time, but what about Ingo? There are some sources that mention, usually the ones that bring up the 2nd time traveler, that the Hero brought someone to the future with him.
They all really hope that that "someone" is Ingo. If not, Emmet is ready to become level 100 and use Thunder on Arceus's ass. (Don't worry the "someone" is Ingo)

Viral Pokerus au outline
Events take place just after the rift was closed so Lucas (protag) hasn’t collected the rest of the plates yet. Also Jubilife Village is planning a giant festival in celebration of getting rid of the rift. Everybody is invited!
Meanwhile, a Gligar with normal Pokerus who lives around the top of Mount Coronet is dared by its Gligar friends to go into a space time distortion and stay in it the whole time. Hanging out in the distortion causes it’s Pokerus to mutate into the special strain we see in this au.
This highly infectious strain starts to quickly spread around the top of the mountain. Ingo happens to leave to visit the Pearl Clan settlement, so he misses getting infected for now. Melli, however, has gotten infected by his Golbat (which often hangs out with Gligars).
Ingo gets to the Pearl Clan settlement. The Galaxy Team has sent letters to both of the clans inviting them to a festival being held in a couple of days. Irida was about to send a bird to deliver a message to Ingo about the party but since he’s here she invites him to join the rest of the clan that’s going to the party in walking down there together. Ingo takes her up on the offer, he was already going to stay for a few days. He hopes that Lady Sneasler isn’t worried about his absence.
Meanwhile, Melli get a letter from Adamen inviting him, he has a bit of a cold, but he intends to go. He tells Lord Electrode where he’s going, and Lord Electrode in turn, tells Lady Sneasler about where their humans are going.
It’s time for Diamond Clan to start heading to the party together, the members who are going anyway. What they don’t know is that by this time Pokerus has spread through almost all of the Mount Coronet population and is starting to spread in the Mirelands, a few of them have recently been infected.
The festival starts, many people from all groups are there. It’s only the first day, however, Melli feels like garbage from his “cold” so he leaves early to go back home. He may not that been there for long, but he has already infected a few people and some Pokemon. When he’s travelling through Wayward Cave, he’s really starting to get a nasty fever and the Alpha Crobat won’t let him leave. Lord Electrode is none the wiser at the fact his warden isn’t here, he’s at the party after all, isn’t he?
Throughout the festival days the other infected Diamond Clan members also infect other people and Pokemon at the party, not that they know that. But several of them are starting to feel a bit off. It’s realized that a cold seems to be going around the festival so it ends a couple of days earlier than intended. Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan start heading home.
Pearl Clan already starts quarantining as they walk back. Almost everyone in the Diamond Clan who went has been infected by now, they also try to quarantine but with much less affect as some of them need some help traveling from the really bad fever starting. Diamond Clan gets back only to realize many people still at the settlement are already sick as well. Adamen is getting really concerned about the high fevers. It’s hard to quarantine when so many people are sick. By now Pokerus has spread throughout all of the Mirelands and is starting to spread a bunch in the fieldlands.
Ingo has gotten home. He visits Lady Sneasler and her kits first, he doesn’t know but he just caught Pokerus from one of her kids. He tells Lady Sneasler that he’s going to go visit Melli real quick to see how he’s doing, after all he left only on the 1st day of the festival due to illness. Sneasler is very concerned, she assumed that Melli would have just gotten back from the party since he hasn’t come back. Sneasler goes with Ingo to Electrode, Ingo is confused, where’s Melli? He’s able to parse from Sneasler and Electrode that Melli hasn’t come back. Ingo is super worried.
Ingo worriers about how sick Melli may have, what if he collapsed somewhere? Ingo, Ingo’s Pokemon, Snesaler, Sneasler’s kits, and Electrode’s kids, all go searching throughout the mountain for him. If Ingo can’t find him soon he plan to go to the Diamond settlement either hoping Melli went there instead, or to get extra help looking for Melli. As he travels through the cave a Zubat starts clinging to him. It insists on following him outside even though it’s daytime. Of course, this bat is actually Melli. Melli writes his name in the dirt, brief moment of confusion where Ingo’s like “oh do you know where Melli is?” Melli: “I am him you idiot!” Ingo eventually gets the message. The search is called off. Everyone is extremely confused about how Melli turned into a bat. Ingo decides to take him to the Galaxy Team to see if they have any idea for what to do.
Meanwhile, Pearl Clan get back home. They have already become aware of how serious this illness is. It’s kind of mean, but for everyone’s safety those who are sick are staying in a temporary camp set up a bit away from the main camp. A few people have started gaining Pokemon traits, maybe something that’s not too obvious though.
Ingo gets to the Galaxy Team camp with Zubat!Melli only to find the whole place in chaos. By now, many people are starting to turn into Pokemon. Ingo talks to Laventon (who has started to get a “cold” himself) about Melli situation. Laventon realizes that this sickness is fully turning people into Pokemon and he dubs it “Pokerus”. He’s happy to know that Melli is still himself, just in the form of a Zubat. This calms the chaos down a bit but only a bit. Jubilife starts to get very serious about quarantining. Lucas and Ingo decided to go check on the clans.
Ingo gets to Diamond Clan with Melli only to find it’s in a worse state than Jubilife. They tell the people there about the situation. Melli decides to fly off home and Ingo heads back to Jubilife running into Lucas along the way. Lucas visited Pearl Clan, who were doing pretty well considering the situation. Ingo tells him about Diamond Clan. Ingo heads back home, Lucas continues to Jubilife.
Ingo gets back home, he already knows he’s sick. He’s been feeling worse for wear the last couple of days. Lady Sneasler and her kits prepare for making Ingo as comfortable as possible. Pretty soon he’s hit with the nasty fever that signals the transformation (he’s gonna turn into a Sneasel.)
Lucas is also starting to fall ill, but he ignores it to try to help collect as much supplies for Jubilife as possible. Many people are out of commission, including the Gingko Guild, so Jubilife is having supply issues. The divide between humans and Pokemon has gotton really bad as people are blaming Pokemon for the illness, and avoiding them to avoid getting sick. Part of the town was chosen for all the sick people to stay as part of quarantine measures. If anyone shows any signs of getting a cold they have to stay there. Pesselle decided to stay over there as well to take care of the sick, she eventually falls ill as well. Lucas is running himself ragged, he’s still traumatized from the exile, and feels the need prove himself useful.
The healthy people of the Diamond Clan have moved to set up a temporary camp out in the Coastlands because of how rampant the virus is at the settlement. This spot isn’t all the safe either though as Pokerus has been starting to spread there too. Pearl Clan was doing pretty well at first but… the Zoroarks found out that the cold going around turns humans into Pokemon so they start getting themselves purposely sick and basically doing biological warfare on the Pearl Clan by trying to sneeze and stuff all around the camp.
People who have fully turned will still be a bit sick afterwards but even after fully recovering they aren’t trusted by those still human. There’s a lot of unknowns with how the illness works. The quarantine is still being held up for anybody who has gotton sick no matter how much time has passed. The spread of Pokerus has slowed down greatly but the threat of society falling apart is still very much there.
Lucas has transformed into a Rowlett and he’s still trying to collect supplies, the humans would not take what he has gathered anymore though but it does help those who are still sick or falling sick. Lucas figures there’s something more he has got to do and that’s when he runs into Volo again. Volo has probably transformed by now and he reminds Lucas oh his quest to get the rest of the plates because he thinks they might be key to contacting Arceus. Lucas is like, “Arceus! That’s it! They can fix this situation!”
Cue the whole gathering plates plot. Lucas is having a difficult time throwing things because of the different body, and personally gets into some Pokemon battles. He eventually evolves along the way into Decidueye. Along the journey he gets help from various Pokemon and Human-turned-Pokemon but no humans except for Cognita, who has managed somehow not getting Pokerus.
The whole Volo fight thing happens but it also involves the two of them personally fighting each other. When Volo calls upon Giratina it successfully attacks Lucas… with a ghost move… on a fighting type, it does nothing lol. Kinda takes the wind from Volo’s sails. Lucas wins, Giratina flys off.
Lucas is reminded he still has some Pokemon to seek out so he does that as fast as possible. Laventon has still been working on the Pokedex with him. He eventually finds and catches ‘em all and calls upon Arceus. Arceus gives him his human form back but he can switch between forms and the Arceus boss battle happens, Lucas makes use of having both forms. Arceus then wants to battle him 1 on 1 as a Pokemon, he wins.
Turns out Arceus wasn’t really paying attention and didn’t know about the Pokerus situation. Arceus is like “Oh damn, that’s not good” So Arceus makes it so that everybody who has transformed can switch between forms at will, like what it did to Lucas. He also wipes this strain of Pokerus from existence.
Things mostly return to normal, and human-Pokemon relations have gotton much better because many people are now kinda Pokemon or can translate. Lucas and Ingo are sent back home,
 The End.

Viral Pokerus: Rating the Transformations (Wardens)
This is basically rating how shitty it is to turn into these Pokemon. Rated from 1 - 5. The post is just about the Wardens in my au, i'll do others in other posts eventually, doing this takes awhile. This rating includes the whole line and is mostly based off of the Pokedex entries. Not everybody here will actually become their final evolution but if they did though, this is what would happen.
Wardens:
Lian: 1/5 (maybe 1.5, for Goodra)
Goomy: he has no arms, he has no legs, he is slow (slug), and his horns/antennas things are real sensitive, it's uncomfortable.
Sliggoo: he has arms again, and he's faster and stronger but... now he's blind, also he has this dissolving mucus and if he's not careful he could hurt somebody he cares about, he is also more food motivated than before. Also the antenna/horns get really sensitive at this time and he can use them to sense his environment, but that's gonna be really weird for him.
Goodra: honestly? pretty good actually. Solves a lot of these problems. He can see again! He's got arms and legs back. Plus he's got control of his mucus now, and that drive to eat a lot of food has gone away. His antenna/horns aren't as sensitive and can even be used to punch for great effect. However he now gets extremally lonely easily, luckily, he usually has his Pokemon and his noble to keep him company.
Mai: 2.5/5 (Just really hard to walk)
Stantler: Hooves are really hard to walk with. Mai is going to have a lot of trouble with those. Also they shed antlers once and awhile but that's a once a year thing. Staring at Stantler horns causes one to be confused and lightheaded, Mai might feel a little bad about that, but not that much. Stantler can also create illusions, not as powerful as a Zoroark. Question is, can she figure out how to do that?
Wydeer: Same situation as Stantler but more powerful in the psychic department. She could also try selling some of her thick fur for a profit, if she wants.
Calaba: 2.5/5 (Hungry and really wants honey)
Teddyursa: She's real short now (a problem almost everybody has). She has a real craving for honey. She has to resist the urge to lick her paws, even when there is no honey soaked into them. Has to hold herself back from bothering the combee. Also, if she is some place cold she'll get the urge to hoard food.
Ursaring: She is now quite skilled a climbing trees, but she probably won't climb anything. She gets hungry easily, and as they say, you're not you when you're hungry. Very strong sense of smell. Still loves honey but willing to eat a wider variety of food.
Ursaluna: Gets an even stronger sense of smell, she can now find buried objects and people easily. Gets some mud manipulating powers and use ground attacks. Lost her tree climbing skills, but she wasn't using those anyway. Doesn't have as much of a hunger problem, but still a hungry bear.
Arezu: 4/5 (Comes with a lot of benefits, and no huge detriment)
Petalili: She's a lot smaller now and drawn to areas that are good for farming. Likes to be around clean water and nutrient soil. Plucking a leaf from her head hurts a little, but it's not too bad. Besides it grows back. For these reasons she can pluck her leaves to be used a medicine. The stubs on the bottom of her body are all able to act as arms or legs, depends on how she wants to use them. Doing photosynthesis is new but it just means she feels rejuvenated by sun bathing. She can't eat from just photosynthesis though, she still needs to eat some physical food.
Lilligant: Similar situation as before. But now she's almost as tall as she used to be and a much more similar shape as well. She still has leaves that can be used for medicine, she's not sure if it works for her arm leaves she she's not going to test those. She enjoys doing Victory Dance with her noble. It takes a lot of upkeep to keep her flower nice, but the flower is sort of like hair and Arezu loves to take care of her hair.
Palina: 3.5/5 (very fast, but has separation anxiety)
Growlithe: She has much stronger smelling now, she can even get a hint of other's emotions just through smell. She also becomes a bit territorial, the "territory" mostly those she cares about. Like Iscan and Lord Arcanine. She finds herself always wanting to be with at least one other being, usually either Iscan or her own Growlithe. She gets really upset being on her own.
Arcanine: Mostly the same but now she is fast as hell. Boy, can this woman run. Agile as hell too. Fast, agile, and graceful.
Iscan: 1/5 (tfw you become the very thing that you fear)
Duskull: Iscan is afraid of this line, so turning into one sucks even if he was trying to get over his fear. And his legs are gone! He has only 1 pupil and has to choose which socket to look out of, this really freaks him out. If is pupil is in the middle it's like he's got something right in front of his face blocking his vision. He can also phase through objects and turn invisible. But worse of all, he's scared he's going to eat the should of those he cares about, so he puts distance between himself and others.
Dusclops: Well... he's got his legs back. Still one pupil but only one socket. Iscan is still scared of being this, even more scared than when he was a Duskull. Unfortunately for him, he has a hunger to eat other ghost types and has to fight that urge. He can hypnotize but he's not really aware of that. If something manages to move one of his bandages out of the way it'll be sucked into his body like a blackhole to be eaten. He has to stick something in between his bandages to eat.
Dusknoir: He lost the legs again, oh well. Still has the urge to eat other ghost Pokemon, but this time with his stomach mouth. He can also eat the souls of still living things, but he doesn't wants too. Sometimes he swears he can hear a whisper telling him what to do, but he's never quite sure what it said. He has blackout periods where he can't remember anything.
Ingo: 3/5 (the climbing skills are nice, that's about it)
Sneasel: Not too bad, he's really good at climbing now. He wasn't bad before but now climbing is 2nd nature. He also finds that climbing is really fun. Might want to be careful about controlling his claw poison. Also if he sees an egg, he will have the urge to eat it.
Sneasler: pretty much the same as sneasel but longer. He still enjoys climbing very much. He's happy about being tall again, a height he's more used too. He probably has control over his poison by now. He's running into a bit of an issue with hanging out with groups of people, he easily feels uncomfortable in groups now. Sneasler's are supposed to be solitary animals after all.
Melli: 1.5/5 (I basically turned him into a vampire)
Zubat: He's blind! He gets sun burned easily! He has no legs! He's got to learn how to fly, which is cool, but learning how to do it might be awkward. And he also needs to drink a little bit of blood, he doesn't need too much, but he's still a bit of a vampire now. He also has to get used to using echolocation to get around.
Golbat: He's got legs again, and eyes. The legs are kind of of awkward though and the giant mouth feels weird. The eyes are a bit sensitive too. The skin can take the sun better, but he still easily gets sun burned. The echolocation thing is still there, he's probably used to it by now though. The biggest issue is the need to brink blood is way stronger, and hard to resist.
Crobat: Lost the feet again. Now two! sets of wings. Gotta get used to flying with double wings. And get used to having no legs again. He's even better now at not getting burned in the sun. The blood lust is also a lot lower, at great relief to Melli.
Gaeric: 5/5 (He very well might like this more than his human form)
Machop: He's smaller now sure, but he's also stronger! Gaeric already loved training and building up his strength which is already what Machop is known for. No real difference from the way his usual self acts. He might be even more driven to train than normal, but he doesn't notice that.
Machoke: Gaeric has no idea where the belt came from, but just knows that it's holding back his strength for the safety of others. He'll keep it on unless there's an emergency. He barely noticed that he never gets physically tired anymore. He also has a drive to help others lift heavy things.
Machamp: More of the same. Extremally strong, loves training. It's also really bad at doing intricate or delicate work, but I don't think Gaeric was good at that kind of stuff anyway. He's got 4 arms now which might be a bit odd but I think he's take it in stride.
Sabi: 2.5/5 (the flying is cool, the fighting is not)
Rufflet: Learning to fly might be strange, but the end result is cool. The main issue is that Rufflet's are really aggressive they like to fight. Sabi will have to fight the urge to constantly try to fight others.
Braviary: Still has the urge to fight, but it's more directed, now it's more about protecting and helping those she cares about than getting into a fight for the fight's sake.

Viral Pokerus, what people transform into
What Pokemon do people turn into in Viral Pokerus au? These aren’t totally cemented yet and as you will see I’m unsure of which to choose for some of these.
Choices are influenced by what Pokemon the person hangs out with a lot, what suits their design and personality, the wild Pokemon that appear around where they can be located, and what is just a fun idea!
Something I forgot to mention in the first post, Pokemon kept in Pokeballs are less likely to get the virus do to having less interaction with the environment. They can still totally get it though, usually from wild Pokemon. Also, young Pokemon are very likely to get the virus because children are just like that.
Apologies for misspelling any names but I’m not getting check all these. Also reminder that they will always turn into first stage of a line.
Important Galaxy Team Members:
Lucas/Rei (protag): Rowlet (my main choice for this is because I want the protag to turn into one of the starters, and I also want them to be able to throw things at any point in the evo line)
Laventon: Oshuwatt (the choice was really between Oshuwatt and Cyndaquill and I want him to wear his hat without fear of it catching on fire)
Cyllene: Abra (really what other Pokemon does she hang out with)
Komado: Munchlax or Herracross (I feel like both Snorlax and Herracross, Pokemon Komado has, fit his vibes)
Beni: Ralts (guy has TWO Pokemon that evolve from this, double the odds)
Pesselle: Happiny
Zisu: Buneary (she has a Lopunny in her Tenacity Team and I think that fits her vibes best besides Zoroark, but I have a special plan for Zoroark and I don’t want too much repetition)
Akari (NOT Protag): Piplup, Starly, or Pichu (assistant has a Pikachu from the start. Starly is just a fun idea. Leaning most towards Piplup though. Piplup is already associated with Dawn because of the anime but also if the protag chooses Rowlet, which this one does, the assistant will have an Empoleon)
Not Important Galaxy Team Members:
Ress: Shinx or Bidoof (Shinx would look cool and have yet to have any Shinx plans, Bidoof would be funny because of the unassuming look for one the Galaxy Team’s strongest members)
Pickle Lady: Geodude
Wenton & Bren: Shellos (but different forms)
Umbreon man: Eevee
Chimecho lady: Chingling
Beauregard: Wurmple (he’ll evolve into Beutifly)
Buizel man: Buizel (A big one, of course!)
The 3 that argue about Burmy: Burmy (but not the forms they like)
At least one child should turn into a drifloon
Any villager that has a Pokemon themed request, even if it’s just Pokedex completion, will probably be turned into the Pokemon they wanted to know about
Spirtomb girl: nothing? (She’s already kind of a Pokemon. So it might be funny if nothing happens to her)
Pearl Clan:
Irida: Eevee
Lian: Goomy
Calaba: Bidoof, Teddyursa, or Unown (Bidoof because partner, Teddyursa because noble, Unown because she likes to hangs out at the ruins + it’s a fun idea. The only other person I could really turn into an Unown is that guy that Galaxy Team guy that guards(?) the entrance.)
Palina: Growlith
Ingo: Sneasel (got infected by Lady Sneasler’s kids)
Gaeric: Machop (this is a bit of a weird one but I liked the idea of letting him stay a muscle man, plus there are a bunch of Machoke and an alpha Machamp nearby Avalugg’s seat which is where you can find him anyway. I imagine that he likes to wrestle with the alpha Machamp and that’s how he got infected.)
Pearl clan members that have requests that involve Pokemon are likely to get turned into that Pokemon. Even Pokedex completion tasks.
Pearl clan has an easier time quarantining due to the sparse population of the icelands. However… Zorua/Zororks find out about the whole people-turning-into-Pokemon thing and purposely get themselves infected and going to the settlement to spread the virus and turn the villagers into Zorua as a form of revenge against humans.
Diamond clan:
Adamen: Eevee
Mai: Stantler or Johto Sneasel (I prefer Stantler because Ingo is already Sneasel otherwise Johto Sneasel could be fun)
Arezu: Petalil
Iscan: Basculin, or Duskull (Basculin because noble. Duskull because turning him into a Pokemon that scares him is funny. On the other hand gills are also fun)
Melli: Zubat (this was a hard one. I didn’t feel like turning him into a Stunky and I’m not gonna turn him into an orb so I choose one of his other Pokemon. Plus, bats are notorious for getting diseases)
Sabi: Rufflet (because noble, she gets it from hanging out with Lord Bravary’s kids)
Diamond clan members that have requests that involve Pokemon are likely to get turned into that Pokemon. Even Pokedex completion tasks
Diamond clan gets effected the most first due to proximity to Mount Coronet, I haven’t mentioned this yet but it’s where the virus strain starts. Random Diamond clan members are mostly turning into Pokemon found around the Mirelands.
Other:
Cognita: I have no idea tbh, Legends and Mythicals can’t get infected, and I don’t know what else to associate her with. Maybe she just doesn’t turn into anything. She already lives off on her own with no Pokemon.
Volo: Togepi, Gible, Riolu, or Spirtomb (Togepi line is his ace throughout the game. He also has a Gible early on. Riolu line is cool. Spirtomb is just a fun idea, like how would that even work.?)
Ginter: Rotom? (because of selling Rotom tech?)
Other Gingo Guild members also turn into Pokemon, but they travel a lot so it could be just about anything really.
Charm, Clover, & Coin: Gastly, Snover, and Croagunk (those are their Pokemon after all) but they live out in the wilds anyway so really they could also get infected by anything.

Viral Pokerus au: Melli and Ingo
The stuff about what happens with these two was mostly covered in the main post. But I figured I could probably add a bit more too it, also I'm sure there are people who really want to read about Ingo in particular. A lot of this is just copy and pasted from the main post.
Ingo leaves his usual station at Mt. Coronet to visit the Pearl Clan for a few days. Meanwhile, Melli's Golbat has been hanging out with the Gligars, catching Pokerus. Melli catches Pokerus from Golbat, becoming the first infected human and will be the first one to transform.
Ingo gets to the Pearl Clan settlement. The Galaxy Team has sent letters to both of the clans inviting them to a festival being held in a couple of days. Irida was about to send a bird to deliver a message to Ingo about the party but since he’s here already she invites him to join the rest of the clan that’s going to the party, in walking down there together. Ingo takes her up on the offer, he was already going to stay for a few days anyway.
The festival starts, many people from all groups are there. It’s only the first day, however, but Melli feels like garbage from his “cold” so he leaves early to go back home. He may not that been there for long, but he has already infected a few people and some Pokemon.
When he’s travelling through Wayward Cave, he’s really starting to get a nasty fever it gets really hard to even stand up. He collapses and sees the Alpha Crobat fly over to him. The Crobat pretty drags him off to it's corner in the cave and won't let Melli leave. Lord Electrode is none the wiser at the fact his warden isn’t here, he’s at the party after all, isn’t he?
Ingo has a good time at the festival. He spends a good deal of it with Lucas, Laventon, and Akari. He also spends a fair amount of time with his friend Zisu. He's concerned when he notices a cold going around. So when the festival is ended early, he thinks it's the right call, safety first after all! He walks together with the Pearl Clan as they leave and splits off from their group after they pass through the field lands to go to Mt. Coronet.
Lucas asks for Ingo's help to go check on the clans. They split up with Lucas going to Pearl Clan and Ingo going to Diamond Clan.
Ingo gets to Diamond Clan with Melli only to find it’s in a worse state than Jubilife. They tell the people there about the situation. Melli decides to try to fly back home and Ingo heads back to Jubilife running into Lucas along the way.
Pretty soon he’s hit with the nasty fever that signals the transformation. He will turn into a Sneasel.
It took awhile but Melli manages to fly back to his camp near Lord Electrode. Traveling was hard. Flying was hard to get used too, and also tiring. He's blind and has to use echolocation. He keeps needing to take breaks in the shade or travel at night because his skin burns easily. He's been eating berries, but he feels like he needs something else and he's not sure what.
Melli's Golbat is like: "Have you tried blood yet?" Melli: "What?!" The thing is Zubat's drink blood, not nearly as much as Golbat does, but that's the thing Melli's missing. Melli knew they drink blood but had never thought to appley that to himself. He really doesn't want to drink blood though.
It takes a lot of badgering by Golbat and Stuntank but Melli finally agrees to drink some from Stuntank. It was... good but Melli would never admit that. He's determined not to drink blood unless he needs too.
After Ingo transforms, as well as Lucas, Ingo helps Lucas with working on the Pokedex. As well as just being their for emotional support.

Viral Pokerus au: Komado and Cyllene
Morale is important, as soon as the rift is taken care of, Komado starts planning for a big celebration. He also does this because he knows his actions during the Red Sky reflect badly upon him, he hopes this will make him look better.
Komado and Cyllene (mostly Cyllene) start planning out the festival. They ask for a bunch of stuff from Ginter and the Gingko Guild. The Gingko Guild will have a large hand in the festival and will also be selling their wares during it. A letter is sent to both the Pearl Clan and the Diamond Clan inviting them to celebrate the end of the rift.
Just a little bit before the festival starts Komado gets a letter sent from Gaeric of the Pearl Clan. The letter warns that Sabi foresaw something bad happening at the festival. Komado doesn't take Sabi's psychic abilities seriously though, so he doesn't take the warning seriously. Cyllene, however, get him to agree that if it looks like something bad is happening he would call off the festival early.
So at first the festival is going great! Komado thinks that there was, indeed, nothing to to worry about. But then this cold is spreading around. Komado doesn't think it's that bad but Cyllene persuades him to end the festival early just in case. He's still doesn't think that it's anything to worry about, but he does call the festival off early anyway.
Many people in Jubilife Village have caught the cold spreading around, including Komado's friend Beni. Briefly after the festival ends Cyllene catches the cold too. Komado, at first, thinks they called off the festival for nothing, but then shit hits the fan.
Just a few days after it ended some of the sick people start collapsing. There's chaos as the infirmary gets immediately filled up. What makes things even crazier is that the people who collapsed are starting to gain the physical traits of Pokemon, like fur, scales, ears, and tails. Komado is particularly upset about Beni falling sick.
Laventon goes to Komado and Cyllene and tells them about Ingo talking to him about Melli. Apparently Melli has already completely turned into a Pokemon, a Zubat, but he is still himself. Laventon theorizes that this sickness, which he dubs "Pokerus" is turning people into Pokemon. He's happy that it seems that people will be doing much better sickness wise after they transform, and that they still stay themselves. He himself is worried about his assistant Akari, who had been among the first to start transforming.
Komado and Cyllene agree that they need to enact a quarantine. They choose Prelude Beach because it's out of the way, but still fairly close to the village. Komado wonders if he should have taken Gaeric's letter more seriously. He has a hard time believing that humans can have psychic abilities but he can't deny that something bad happened, like she warned.
They have an announcement to the whole village of what is going to happen. Tents are put up at the beach and the sick from the infirmary are moved there. Those who are displaying cold symptoms but haven't collapsed also have to go there. Which includes a lot of people, including Cyllene. Komado is a tad nervous about not having Cyllene and Beni with him but he's sure he can hold out fine.
When it's realized that Pokerus spreads from Pokemon he calls for all Pokemon that live in the village to be kept in Pokeballs, including Lucas's Pokemon. He has also ordered the guards to carry around many Pokeballs with them and try to catch any Pokemon that gets to close to the village. It doesn't work all that well because not all the guards have a good aim, plus there are a lot of Pokemon around the village. It's a herculean task.
Komado also tries to see if the transformed can be caught now that they are Pokemon, they can't. But if they could, Komado would have considered keeping them stuck in Pokeballs. But the ethical implications of that doesn't matter, thinks Komado, because it doesn't even work. If it did work he thinks it would be worth it because it's only temporary and he just wants to protect everybody.
He's unsure how long the transformed should be kept in quarantine. He's not sure if the sick can be reinfected as Pokemon carriers of Pokerus. As such, all sick need to stay at the sick camp for an indefinite amount of time. Being stuck there is really getting to people. The conditions of the camp ain't great.
Cyllene has been doing her best to keep things organized at the camp, along with Laventon. She (now an abra) is willing to use her teleport ability to allow people to stay at the Field lands instead of the camp if they so chose, but they must fend for themselves there. Some take her up on that offer, and that helps with the congestion in the camp.
After Lucas gets sick he starts flying in to the sick camp to visit Laventon (Lucas turned into Rowlet). He wants to keep working on the Pokedex because he thinks it might be key to fixing this situation. Arceus gave him the task of seeking out all Pokemon, if he succeeds he can ask it to turn everybody human again.
Zisu had been helping Lucas while he had still been human. By now she has also gotten sick and had turned into a buneary. She pissed off at Komado over the poor conditions of the camp as well as Lucas's treatment in general. She decides she wants a word with Komado and writes out a letter to him and decides to personally deliver the letter to him.
From Komado's perspective some how a clearly angry buneary has gotten past security. He panics and doesn't see the note she was holding. He sends out Herracross to defend himself, Zizu and Herracross fight. It almost defeats her but she evolves and then defeats it. She hands the note to Komado, and he realizes that she wasn't actually there to attack him, he was just being paranoid.
The note talks about Zisu grievances with Komado and his leadership. Komado has some thinking to do but he still thinks he's justified in his actions, just that maybe he could have done better though. He doesn't know it but Herracross got infected in the fight and passed it on to him.
A little after this fight Lucas defeats Arceus. Arceus gives everybody back their human forms with the ability to shift back and forth between forms. It has also eradicated the Virus in Hisui. Those who are infected and haven't transformed will still transform but no one new will get infected. This includes Komado, but after he turns into a Herracross he can switch back into human right away.
Well he can switch back right away, it's not very healthy to do so right afterwards but he'll do it. He will feel like shit though. Moving into the future he and Cyllene start making rules about shifting for the villagers.
Example: When in Pokemon form, the Galaxy Team transformed have to wear a band of some sort that signifies that they are a Shifter. This is so other villagers don't get scared of them.

Viral Pokerus: Volo
Volo wasn't happy about the rift being gotten rid of, but thought it would be suspicious if he didn't go to the festival. Besides, the guild was asked to help set it up and to sell things there. Ginter, however, didn't ask for Volo for the setting up part. Ginter thinks he's lazy.
It was just fine for Volo to sell stuff during the festival though. He sold a bit, but he got bored and stopped. He decides to mess with Lucas and the town by letting Lucas's Pokemon loose from the pasture. It does indeed cause some chaos. Afterwards Lucas is spending all his time just keeping an eye on the pastures. Volo is happy to ruin the festival for him.
Volo and the other Gingko Guild members are supposed to pack up early to meet a company ship that's arriving soon. Volo is happy to do so, he doesn't really care much for the celebration anyways. It's to his delight to see that the festival was ending early anyway. Getting a cold is the least they could do for ruining his plans, serves them right!
As usual, Volo doesn't actually go to help unload the company ship. There's enough people there that he figures no one notices his absence. Ginter does notice, and it's part of the reason he considers Volo lazy.
Volo goes to Coronet to continue training his Pokemon. He plans to make Lucas pay, but he won't be able to do so without defeating Lucas's Pokemon first. So he's spending much of his free time training his Pokemon. His Gabite is close to evolving so he's going to focus on training it.
He's been training Gabite for only a day and it's evolved! He continues training with it but there's some sort of commotion going on. That Ingo guy and his Pokemon and tromping through the mountain calling for Melli. Volo hides, wondering what this is all about.
Several hours later Ingo is running back up carrying a Zubat. He's yelling to his Pokemon that he found Melli. Volo is annoyed about how loud he is, it's impossible to ignore a voice as loud as Ingo. He decides to spy to see what all the fuss is about.
He finds out that Melli has turned into a Zubat. Nobody has any ideas how this happened, Volo has no clue either. Ingo says he's going to bring Melli to Laventon, maybe he has an idea? Volo decides to follow, he wants to see where this goes.
Volo sees how much of a mess Jubilife Village is. He keeps a low profile and leaves as soon as he finds out what's going on. Apparently a virus is turning humans into Pokemon? Volo just includes this on his list of human suffering, and why Arceus needs to be taken down.
Volo spends several days on his own training his Pokemon, mostly around Coronet. He realizes that he has gotten the virus as well. So he gets ready to be sick for however long that's going to last. While he's turning into a Gible, the Misfortune Sisters try to steal his stuff, but his Pokemon easily fight them off.
While transforming he thinks of Cognita and wonders what her superstitious self would think of this. He decides after he's turned into a Pokemon that he will visit her. And when he completely turns into a Gible, a Shiny Gible at that, he writes a note explaining the situation and heads off to the Anicent Retreat.
He has a hard time traveling due to his small size. Lugging his backpack and Pokeballs is not easy, and his hat keeps trying to fall off. He largely uses his Pokemon to help him move his backpack. He gets to the Retreat and Cognita seems to recognize him but she assumes that he did something stupid and got cursed. He gives her his letter. It's not his fault there's a weird virus (except it is, the virus was mutated by a space-time distortion).
He leaves and continues training for awhile, his Pokemon but also himself. While in the field lands he sees Lucas, who's a Rowlet now, and gets an idea. He knows that Lucas has those plates, he was already planning on tricking Lucas into helping collect all of them but he got side-tracked by the whole Pokerus situation. Now seems to be good time to get back to that plan.
He approaches Lucas and talks to him about the plates. He tells Lucas that legend states that if someone collects all the plates they can get audience with Arceus itself. That if Lucas can get the rest of the plates he can ask it to do something about Pokerus. Lucas thinks this is a fantastic idea and jumps to it immediately.
Volo brings Lucas to Cognita. Lucas hands her a note explaining what they are up to and if she can help them get the plates as well as "seeking out all Pokemon". She tells them what she knows of the plates as well as what she knows about various mythical and legendary Pokemon, including the Forces of Nature.
Afterwards Volo joins Lucas as he works hard on finding and capturing the Pokemon while also collecting the plates. Through these trials Lucas evolves from Rowlet into Dartrix and becomes skilled at battleing and using his Pokemon body. Volo has evolved from Gible into Gabite (he was already close to evolving before they started working together so he evolves after maybe the 1st or 2nd plate). Volo had already become comfortable with his Pokemon body through his earlier training.
After defeating and capturing 3 out of 4 of The Forces of Nature as well as collecting the rest of the plates and capturing the legendaries and mythicals, Lucas and Volo return to Cognita. Lucas is upset that they clearly don't have all the plates, there's still 2 missing, but their leads have dried up. Volo knows where the Spooky Plate is of course, but that's his trump card, let Lucas believe it's out there somewhere, when really it's right under his nose. Cognita tells them of the 4th Force of Nature and Enamorus reveals itself and challenges Lucas to capture it next.
After tracking down Enamorus and defeating and capturing it they receive the Fairy Plate from it. Lucas evolves a final time into Decidueye. But Lucas is worried about there being only one plate left but with no leads. Volo says he thinks he has an idea of where it might be, heh, just an "idea". He tells Lucas to meet him at the top of Coronet tomorrow evening. That will be a good time to reveal the whole truth, and steal the plates. He's been training for awhile, but he's ready. Arceus will soon have to answer to him.
Lucas shows up right on the agreed upon time and Volo reveals himself. He and Lucas start doing a mix of fighting between each other as well as fighting with their Pokemon. Lucas has defeated all of Volo's Pokemon but he only has 2 left and he's very tired from fighting himself. Volo calls upon Giratina and finally evolves into Garchomp.
It's difficult but Lucas and his team win by a hair. Giratina flies off with the Spooky Plate leaving Volo behind, Volo feels abandoned. He runs off while Lucas is trying to catch his breath and heal his team. Volo hides and faints (like the Pokemon kind of faint). Volo and his team later recover.
Only about a couple of days there after, Lucas has captured Giratina and has gotten the last Plate. Lucas summons, defeats , then captures Arceus. Arceus gives the transformed their human bodies back, including Volo.
Volo decides he can't stay here, he gives a last goodbye to Cognita and tells Ginter he quits. Volo moves to Johto, to study the ruins there. He hasn't entirely given up on his plans he just isn't sure what to do next. Ultimately he settles down with someone and has a kid. He hasn't really let go of his feelings towards Arceus but he never gets the opportunity to try to make a move against him again.
Sorry folks, no Immortal Volo here.

Pokerus au... au
So I’m a big fan of the Pokerus au’s concept of turning people into Pokemon but wanted to do my own take on it. I’m uncertain right now what I want to call it. Maybe Epidemic Pokerus au? Or Actual Disease Pokerus au. I don’t know, any suggestions would be nice.
The basic premise is that the normal Pokerus disease gets mutated by a space-time distortion which causes it to: 1) be super contagious 2) be way better at infecting humans and 3) it turns humans into Pokemon
Instead of everybody transforming at once like in the regular au, it spreads like a disease throughout the population and causes utter chaos.
Other ways this au differs from the normal Pokerus au:
The transformation happens way faster, once it starts it takes about a week to finish
Those who are transformed don’t loose their minds, they are the same people but just stuck in different bodies
Lucas/Rei is the protag here
Takes place after the whole Dialga/Palkia fight but only just after
Someone can theoretically get the disease from any Pokemon not just their partners, but of course I’m mostly sticking to their partners/nobles for who infects them because that’s more fun than just a random Pokemon
Talking more about how the Pokerus disease work:
Pokemon aren’t greatly affected by it, it’ll only give them a very slight cold
Part of what makes it so infectious is that this strain is way better at surviving outside the body, so if say, an infected Pokemon sneezed on a rock, another Pokemon can more easily get sick by interacting with that rock because the virus can survive longer.
The infectious period is about 2-3 weeks long, week 2 is the peak of infectiousness
Infected humans start transforming around the beginning of the 2nd week of being infected. 1st week feels like a cold.
When transforming humans get a very bad fever, the transforming itself isn’t as painful as it is in the regular Pokerus au but it’s still really uncomfortable
The disease is best at jumping to Pokemon. Pokemon to Pokemon is easy. Human to Pokemon is also easy, if slightly harder. Pokemon to human is a bit more difficult but perfectly doable for this strain. Human to human is hard though, but it can happen.
People turn into the first stage of the Pokemon line that infected them. Example: Get infected by a Luxray and you turn into a Shinx.
Humans turned into Pokemon can evolve.
Something I’m unsure about:
What Pokemon does a person turn into when infected by another human? Do they just turn into the same Pokemon? It would make sense, but I’m don’t want too many of the same exact Pokemon line running around, that’s not fun. Potential Solution: The human infected by the other human turns into whatever Pokemon they interact with next. It’s fun but doesn’t make as much sense with the way diseases work. Not that this isn’t already pretty fantastical.
Anyway I do have more to say about this, like what Pokemon the characters turn into and a basic timeline of events but I’ll save that for another post.

Viral Pokerus: Lucas
Lucas was Professor Rowan's assistant, and close friends with the champion of Sinnoh, Dawn, and also their mutual friend Barry. Lucas got sent back in time by Arceus due to his involvement with the Pokedex.
Lucas doesn't remember much when he arrives in Hisui. He knows his name, and he knows vaguely that he's from the future. He remembers Dawn and Barry, kind of. He also remembers Rowan. There's a lot of stuff he can't remember though, including the existence of Shifters. Otherwise he'd be pretty worried about the period of history he landed in.
Back home Dawn, Barry, Rowan, Cynthia, and Lucas's mom know that Lucas is missing and have been searching for him. The history of Hisui is well known due to it being the place that Shifters first came into being. This is relevant because the Hero of Hisui, while his name has been lost to time, it was known that he was a time traveler.
Barry and Dawn in particular think this might be a lead, they ask for help from Cynthia to do a deep dive into Hisui's history to try to find out as much about the time traveling hero they can. They come to the conclusion that he is the hero. They also realize that there was another time traveler. Cynthia figures out that it's Ingo. Emmet is contacted with this information.
It's a relief to know what happened to Lucas and that he will come back home. After all, many accounts state that the Hero left to go back to his original time and place. So they know he's going to be back eventually. But all the same they know he's going to go through a lot, Heroes tend to go through a lot. They'll be there for him when he gets back.
The plot of the game largely goes as normal. Lucas has become good friends with Ingo, bonding over the lack of memories. Lucas also trusts Komado a bit too much. It's the fact that Komado reminds him of one of the few things he can remember, Rowan. Rowan is an important person to Lucas. So he's trusting towards Komado right out of the gate because he recognizes that Komado is Rowans great-grand-something father.
When the Red Sky and the exile happened this hits Lucas really hard. When Komado told him that there were townsfolks who didn't trust him Lucas worked extra hard to help the town. Now that he's being kicked out for something he can't control he's completely besides himself. He wants to show that he's trustworthy and that he's a good person.
Sure, he fixes the situation and gets rid of the rift. But even as he's let back into the village he no longer really feels like he belongs there. He fears he will be kicked out again. He puts a lot of work into helping prepare for the festival, because he wants to prove that he's useful. And already after saving the day he jumps right back into working on the Pokedex. Laventon tries to make him stop with the Pokedex work because he's already working so hard on the festival, but Lucas still does some anyway. Lucas also sends on invitation to Cognita, if it wasn't for her information the Red Chain never would have been made, she doesn't end up coming though.
The festival starts off ok, Lucas wants to enjoy it more but he's having a hard time just kicking back and relaxing and not doing work. Laventon and Akari try to help him have fun. Their plans on getting him to relax go array when some of Lucas's pasture Pokemon want to join the party and get out of the pastures. Lucas spends the rest of that day rounding those Pokemon up. He's scared that if he can't control his Pokemon he might be asked to release them. He spends the rest of the days constantly checking on them or worrying about them causing trouble. He's kind of happy the festival ended early.
He's not so happy when, only about 3 days later, people start collapsing from what was thought to only be a flu going around. He watched his friend Akari get affected before his very eyes. These people are also starting to grow Pokemon traits. The village is in panic.
Ingo appears with a Zubat and asks Lucas where Laventon is. Ingo tells Laventon that Melli has turned into a Zubat, this Zubat he has with him. Melli is still himself, just in the form of a Zubat. Laventon theorizes that this is the final result of that virus that's going around. Laventon names the virus Pokerus because it's turning people into Pokemon.
Cyllene and Komado announce a quarantine and have a camp being set up on Prelude Beach for the sick people to stay at. Lucas wants to check on the Clans and tell them what's going on, Ingo says he'll help. Ingo will go to Diamond Clan and Lucas will visit Pearl Clan, they will meet back up at Jubilife Village.
The trip up to Pearl Clan goes smoothly. Lucas gets there and tells Irida about what's going on back in Jubilife and telling her about Melli. Irida thanks him for informing her and tells him that Pearl Clan has things under control, don't worry. It does calm down Lucas a bit to see that Pearl Clan are being very efficient and handling the virus.
While heading back he runs into Ingo while in the Field lands. Ingo tells Lucas that Diamond Clan are having a hard time because a very large amount of them have gotten sick. Of course, this worries Lucas. He is also worrying about Ingo, who is also starting to look under the weather. When he asks Ingo if he's alright, Ingo reassures him and heads off back home. Lucas has the feeling that he isn't going to see Ingo again for awhile. Lucas goes back home, seeing the village being in a panic again, so soon after the Red Sky Event really upsets him.
Lucas is desperate to help the village. He's constantly taking trips out into the field lands and sometimes even further to gather supplies, especially medial herbs, to try to help those who are sick. Normally the village leans on the guards or the Gingko Guild to get the amount of supplies they need, but no Gingko Guild member has been seen since Ginter left around the time that people first started falling sick. And the guards have been told to focus on keeping wild Pokemon away from the village.
He also helps the farmers tend to their fields as well. Normally the farmers would be using the Pokemon that Lucas had given them to help with the farming, but Komado commanded that all Pokemon be kept in their Pokeballs while in town. It doesn't help that several of the farmers have already fallen ill.
Lucas has been burning the candle at both ends. Barely taking anytime to even sleep or eat. Part of this is his worry comes from just being, understandably, worried about the epidemic. But a large part of this is that he feels a need to prove himself useful. He's traumatized from being thrown out of his home by a man he looked up too. So he's working tirelessly because he's scared something like that will happen again.
With so many of the adult figures in his life being unavailable (Ingo is at Coronet and now is not the time to visit him, Cyllene and Laventon are both at the sick camp, and Lucas no longer trusts Komado) Lucas spends some time with Zisu because she approaches him and makes him take some breaks. Zisu is concerned about his well being.
Sometime during all of this Lucas's Decideueye got infected with Pokerus from a wild Pokemon battle and passes it on to him. He's not sure if he's gotten the virus or just if all the work he's been doing is catching up to him (it's both). To be careful he avoids going into the village. He just drops off the items he's collected with the guards before immediately leaving.
He feels worse as the week goes on. He thinks that nobody has noticed but he's wrong. Zisu has noticed his absence and has decided to go find him and talk to him. She finds him while he's in the Heartwood and asks him what's going on and to please take a rest. But he says he can’t, he might get too sick to do anything soon, so he has to do as much work as he can to make up for that and to make up for the fact that he'll need to be taken care of as well.
Zisu tells him that he doesn’t need to do anything. He’s already done enough, he’s even saved Hisui before. Lucas says that Hisui is already in danger again, that he can’t just sit around, he's the hero he has to do something. Besides, he needs to earn his keep. Zisu thinks that he's already done more than enough but Lucas thinks that he'll never do enough. He put so much work in helping the village people already but as soon as disaster struck, Komado exiled him. What if he gets exiled again? This is a disaster after all, he fears that Komado will try to blame this on him again.
Zisu hugs him and tells him that that isn’t going to happen. That Komado already knows Lucas has nothing to do with what’s happening. Lucas isn’t confident about that, and he worries about Zisu getting sick from hugging him. She says that she doesn’t care if she got sick from hugging him, that it would be worth it if it helps him feel better. That if given the choice 100 times, she’d always choose to hug him. Lucas cries. He really needed to hear that.
He's convinced by Zisu to rest after all. He decides to stay out of the village while doing so, they already have enough people in the sick camp as is, they don't need another. Plus, he has a hard time going back to the village with the knowledge that he's going to stop working, he's afraid to see disappointed eyes on him.
So Lucas transforms into a Rowlet while out in the Field lands, his Pokemon taking care of him for the most part. Lord Kleaver and Lian also find him and try to help. But Lian himself is still adjusting to his new body and can't help much.
Lucas is aware that Mai would also help him if she could but he knows from his supply gathering excursions that she's been stuck around Deertrack heights and hasn't been able to get down quite yet.
After transforming he's at a loss about what to do when Volo, now a shiny Gible, finds him. Volo brings up Lucas's connection with Arceus. Lucas had already told Volo that he was sent on a mission to "seek out all Pokemon". Volo tells him that if he succeeds in that mission maybe he might be able to talk to Arceus and have it fix this whole Pokerus situation. Lucas jumps on the idea, he's not certain, but it's certainly his best bet.
Lucas quickly gets the hang of flying, or at least gets a good enough understanding of it to fly into the sick camp at Prelude Beach. He tells Laventon about his plan to complete the Pokedex to see Arceus. Laventon is up for it, he's been wanting to get back to his Pokedex work, especially now that he can get a fresh perspective now that he can speak directly to Pokemon, as an Oshawott.
While there he finds out that Zisu got sick and is turning into a Buneary. He feels sad because he's pretty sure that's his fault.
Lucas knows that there is more to the Pokedex than the regular Pokemon. He needs to know about Mythical and Legendary Pokemon too. Volo volunteers to help him with his goals.
Volo brings Lucas to see Cognita. She's knowledgeable in mythology and should be able to help Lucas not only find the plates but also seek out mythical Pokemon. She tells him what she knows of where the plates are. She also tells him about what she knows about Shaymin, Darkrai, Manaphy, Phione, and The Forces of Nature.
Afterwards Lucas works hard on finding and capturing the mythical Pokemon while also collecting the plates. Things are made all the more tricky because he's using a body he isn't used to. Through these trials Lucas evolves from Rowlet into Dartrix and becomes skilled at battleing and using his Pokemon body. Volo who's been assisting him has evolved from Gible into Gabite (he was already close to evolving before they started working together so he evolves after maybe the 1st or 2nd plate). While doing these quests they are also working together on the Pokedex tasks.
After defeating and capturing 3 out of 4 of The Forces of Nature as well as collecting the rest of the plates and capturing legendaries, Lucas and Volo return to Cognita. Lucas is upset that they clearly don't have all the plates, there's still 2 missing, but their leads have dried up. Cognita tells them of the 4th Force of Nature and Enamorus reveals itself and challenges Lucas to capture it next.
After tracking down Enamorus and defeating and capturing it they receive the Fairy Plate from it. Lucas evolves a final time into Decidueye. But there's still one more plate missing. Volo says he thinks he has an idea of where it might be. He tells Lucas to meet him at the top of Coronet tomorrow evening.
Lucas gets to the agreed upon meeting place right on time. and asks Volo where he thinks the ghost plate is. Volo reveals himself, talking about his problems with Arceus and demands the plates. Lucas is scared of how aggressive Volo is being but of course he says no.
Volo and Lucas start doing a mix of fighting between each other as well as fighting with their Pokemon. Lucas managed to defeat all of Volo's Pokemon but he only has 2 left and he's very tired from fighting himself. Lucas thinks the fights over but to his shock and dismay Volo calls upon and summons Giratina. Volo also evolves into a Garchomp upon doing so, regaining much of his strength.
It's difficult but Lucas and his team win by a hair, making good use of healing items to do so. Giratina flies off with the Spooky Plate leaving Volo behind. Volo sneaks off while Lucas is trying to focus on catching his breath and healing his team. Lucas never sees him again, but Cognita will mention seeing him once after everything was over. They said goodbye to each, she doesn't think she'll ever see him again either, but she's fine with that.
Lucas has to get the last plate, as well as catch Giratina for the Pokedex. He asks around to Pokemon if they knew where it went. He figures out it went to the Coastlands. He gets some help from Iscan and Palina in locating it after he gets to the Coastlands. He battles Giratina and catches it, getting the last plate. He then heads back to Coronet to see Arceus.
So the plates turn into the flute, he plays the flute, the stairs appear, he goes up the stairs and sees Arceus waiting on that celestial platform. Arceus hasn't really been paying attention, so it's surprised at Lucas's appearance. Arceus is like, "Why art thou a Pokemon?" and Lucas is like, "???You don't know???" Lucas tells it about the Pokerus outbreak.
Arceus is like "Ah I see" then says something about this not being a fair fight because this isn't the body Lucas is used too. Lucas says, "Wait, fight?" Arceus then gives Lucas his body back, Lucas is naked, Arceus is like woops then gives him clothing as well. Arceus is like, "Yes, there is still one Pokemon missing from your Pokedex, and I'm not going to make this too easy."
Arceus continues by informing Lucas that he can now switch back in forth between human and Decidueye, and that just for this battle his clothing would disappear as Decidueye and come back as human. Arceus wants to see him use both forms to fight.
So they do the big fight, and Lucas makes use of both forms. Other than using his Pokemon to fight Arceus when it gets stunned, he also steps in sometimes as well. While Lucas can no longer fly, he can still use his powerful legs to jump high in the air to avoid attacks and throw the balms from a high point.
Lucas eventually wins, it's difficult but at least his life wasn't in danger if he lost this time, unlike Volo. Arceus gives Lucas a Pokeball and explains that a small piece of itself is in the Pokeball, that it's Lucas's Pokemon now. Lucas then asks Arceus to please do something about the Pokerus outbreak. Arceus is like, "of course!"
Arceus then gives all the transformed humans their human form back, causing all of them to switch to their human forms at once. Everybody transformed back into human is now naked and they all rush to get some sort of covering. It's very embarrassing for everyone and people elect to not really bring up the mass nakedness thing afterwards.
Arceus also metaphorically nukes the Pokerus virus to destroy it. This destroys all Pokerus that was currently in Hisui, but this didn’t destroy the virus that had spread further, rather that was only damaged. There were water and flying Pokemon that weren't quite in range. The virus had also just started spreading in Johto. This damaged version of Pokerus came to be the version that is now in modern day.
Lucas tells everybody he comes across as he's walking down from the top of Coronet about the form shifting thing. Some people have already realized on their own that they can shift back and forth. So word is spreading around.
After everything, Lucas works on perfecting his Pokedex entries. Right before Arceus left it told him that it can send him back home now, whenever he was ready. Lucas asks about bringing Ingo back with him, and Arceus is like sure, it can send him back too. So now Lucas is working on finishing some stuff up as well as saying goodbye to people. He told Ingo when he was coming down the mountain, and Ingo is also tying things up. Lucas, as part of saying goodbye takes a lot of photos with people. He also convinced all the wardens to get together for a photo for both their human forms and Pokemon forms.
When they are both ready and packed up they head up to see Arceus. They both have their Pokemon with them, as well as some extras aside from their main team. Ingo has 5 Sneasels with him, he's worried about them going extinct. Lucas is bringing at least one of every Hisui form and unique evolution. They get sent home by Arceus.
When Ingo gets home, he's back where he disappeared from, the subway tunnels. All of his memories are coming back to him and he rushes off to find his brother. And when they see each other again from across the station they both run to the other and hug, Emmet almost falling over from Ingo's increased strength from living in the wilderness. Ingo sees the rest of his family, introduces his new Pokemon, and tells them about Hisui. His family in turn tell him what they know about his situation with time traveling, and Emmet tells Ingo about also catching Pokerus.
Lucas appears where he disappeared from as well, his house. He runs down stairs and hugs his mom and tells her he's sorry for being gone. She tells him it's fine, she knows he's been working really hard. Lucas's friends, Cynthia, and Rowan also all appear to see him as well. Seeing Cynthia and Rowan kind of upsets Lucas because it makes him think of Volo and Komado. Rowan especially resembles his ancestor. Lucas doesn't want to be upset by looking at them because it's not their fault what their ancestors did. This situation also upsets him, that he can't stop feeling anxious when looking at those two, he doesn't want them to feel bad about something not their fault.
Lucas introduces his new Pokemon, Rowan gets excited about seeing endangered Pokemon. Lucas thought they were extinct so it was nice to hear that they were actually endangered. The existence of Shifters helped to save several of these species. However some of them are still gone, like Kleavor, Sneasler and Overqwil.
After settling back into modern life, Lucas and Ingo meet up again to catch up. They have both been through a lot, Lucas especially. It's hard getting used to being back in the modern day. Lucas was gone for about a year and a half, Ingo was gone for a little more than 3 years. But they both resolve to get back to their regular life.

Viral Pokerus au: Zisu
Zisu can a fantastic time at the festival, she loves parties. She tried challenging Diamond and Pearl Clan members to Pokemon battles but very few took her up on the offer, even when she offered to let them borrow one of her Pokemon. It's so hard to find someone who likes battles. She at least got Ingo to take her up on her offer and they battled several times throughout the festival, they even got a bit of an audience when they fought.
She thinks it sucks that the festival was called off early, she thinks it's an overreaction to just a cold. But she'll accept it because she doesn't really want to argue with the people in charge.
Things are normal enough for a few days. The colds prove themselves to be worse than she thought, as she sees they are getting worse for people. So she's like, ok maybe calling it off early was a good idea.
And then shit hits the fan and the sick people start collapsing with extremally high fevers. They makes people panic even more is that the sick people are starting to gain Pokemon features. Pesselle and her team are frantic, trying to take care of so many people at once. Zisu notices Ingo come running into Jubilife with a Zubat, she would have said hi to him but looked like he was in a rush.
A bit later Komado and Cyllene make an announcement that Laventon has found out what is going on. That the virus that is going around turns people into Pokemon. However, they need not fear losing their minds because apparently there was already someone found who had completely turned into a Pokemon but were still themselves.
People calm down a bit, knowing what's happening. But there is still a lot of fear. Komado and Cyllene have temporary tents set up at Prelude Beach. The idea is that, to stop the infection, those who are sick will stay there for now. It kind of breaks Zisu's heart to see so many people she knows have to stay there. She'd love to be able to talk to them but she's not supposed too or she'll risk spreading the infection.
She's extra worried as Cyllene falls sick too. She would never say it to Komado's face, but he had a tendency to jump to drastic measures. She's not sure if drastic measures would be better or worse in a situation like this, but she knows she'd prefer if he had Cyllene to bounce his thoughts on.
She's concerned about Lucas. He barely spends anytime in the village. He keeps running out to gather more supplies, running back, and then running out again. She got him to talk to her once and awhile. She wishes that Laventon were here to talk to Lucas, he was already really good with him. But Laventon got infected. Akari and Cyllene were also infected as well. Those three were the people Lucas talked to the most. After them though, she also spent a lot of time with him. And she feels like she needs to step up because Lucas doesn't have his usual pillars to fall back on.
Komado orders that all of Lucas's pasture Pokemon be kept in their balls, by tying rope around the ball. All people with Pokemon are told to keep them in their balls. And that all wild Pokemon spotted near the village must also be kept and kept in their balls. Zisu doesn't like doing it but she has to follow orders. She thinks that it's reasonable to worry about the Pokemon that can spread the virus but she's worried about how being trapped in a Pokemon for an extended period can affect them. She thinks that there's got to be a better way.
She notices Lucas becoming an even rarer sight in the village. Often time not even stopping to talk to the guards, just dropping off the resources he's gathered. She also notices that he isn't looking well.
She follows him out and eventually winds up at The Heartwood trying to look for him. Getting a good look at him, she knows he's sick, yet he's been running himself ragged anyway. She tells him that he needs to rest. But he says he can't, he might get too sick to do anything soon, so he has to do as much work as he can to make up for that.
Zisu tells him that he doesn't need to do anything. He's already done enough, he's even saved Hisui. Lucas says that Hisui is already in danger again, that he can't just sit around, he needs to earn his keep. Zisu's like you've already done that and more. But Lucas expresses that it isn't enough, what he does is never enough. He put so much work in to helping people in the village but as soon as disaster struck, Komado exiled him. What if he gets exiled again?
Zisu hugs him and tells him that that isn't going to happen. That Komado already knows Lucas has nothing to do with what's happening. Lucas isn't confident about that, and he worries about Zisu getting sick from hugging him. She says that she doesn't care if she got sick from hugging him, that it would be worth it if it helps him feel better. That if given the choice 100 times, she'd always choose to hug him. Lucas cries.
She doesn't see him go to the village again after that, he said that he'd rather transform away from there, he doesn't really feel comfortable there. Zisu did in fact get infected, she turns into a buneary. She knows that she probably got sick from Lucas or the wild Pokemon in the area, but she doesn't regret what she did. So she ends up moving into the sick camp as well.
The conditions at the sick camp aren't good. The medical staff there are overworked. It's overcrowded, even with Abra!Cyllene offering to teleport people to the fieldlands. Only some take her up on that offer. Things aren't clean, there isn't enough places to sleep, and none of those bed sheets have been washed since the camp was set up, other than a Buizel!guard occasionally using water gun on them.
She is happy to see Lucas again, although she was in the middle of transforming at the time. He had turned into a Rowlet. She was glad that he was able to talk with Laventon again. She looks forward to get the transformation over with so she can talk to him again with a clear head. She also decides it'll be fun to teach the transformed moves.
She realizes that the supplies that Lucas had been gathering, while they were meant for the sick camp, the camp had only gotten half of what he brought. She finds this out after talking to others after transforming. This is a bit of a last straw for her, she's pissed. Lucas was working so hard because he wanted to help those who were ill, this was spitting in the face of that. Sure the uninfected could use supplies but they had more freedom to move about as they wish, they could get more on their own if they weren't so scared of the wild Pokemon.
Because she is angry at Komado, she decides she wants a word with him. She gets something to write on and some sort of writing utensil, not necessarily paper and pencil/pen, maybe Cyllene can teleport to her office and get some? Then again, I'm not sure Cyllene would approve of this.
She sneaks past the guards and manages to get to Komado in his office. She pulls out her note she wrote. He's freaking out because how did a Pokemon get in here? He doesn't bother with paying attention to what the buneary is doing and sends out Herracross. It attacks Zisu and she fights back. She's able to hold her own fairly well but she's losing. Feelings of love towards the well being of those in the sick camp as well as Lucas gets her to evolve.
She defeats Herracross and before Komado can send out anything else, she loves the note into his chest and leaves. He reads the note. He feels justified and defensive though. He thinks that the conditions in the camp could be better. But he wants to prioritize those who can work. He ignores the fact that the transformed could do things because that involves letting them close enough that they might infect people and he doesn't know when someone stops being infectious.
He orders his room cleaned, he burns the note. He heals his Herracross and returns it to its ball. During the fight, Zisu infected Herracross, and Herracross infected Komado.
It's not long after this that Lucas defeats Arceus and returns everybody's human forms back. Zisu enjoys Pokemon fights and finds that it's also sometimes easier to teach moves while in Pokemon form. Many Shifters come to her so she can teach them moves.

Viral Pokerus: Sabi
thinking about what I'm going to do specifically with the wardens in this au. So I making a post for each warden besides Melli and Ingo, who I already discussed in the outline post. Misfortune Sisters are here too.
Lord Braviary is having children with his mate, a Crobat. And the eggs are going to hatch soon. Sabi is worried because she knows something bad is going to happen but she can't pin down what exactly so she thinks it might have something to with the eggs.
She is so distracted that she completely forgot that a messenger bird came by from Pearl Clan to drop off a message. She hasn't read it yet, but it's been a couple of days.
What she doesn't know is that a couple of days ago the Misfortune Sisters caught wind that Lord Braviary is going to have chicks and they decide that they are going to steal them, hopefully before they even hatch.
The day the eggs are supposed to hatch the Misfortune Sisters show at Snowpoint (somewhere in their travels they have caught Pokerus). Sabi has finally read the message inviting her to the Galaxy Team held festival. She realizes that her bad feeling has something to do with that. At about the same time the Sisters steal at least one of the eggs and run off with it.
Braviary and his mate fly off after them. Sabi is split on what to do. She decides to stay and guard the other eggs along with one of her Pokemon. She sends the other two to go help get the stolen egg(s) back.
Somewhere in the scuffle Braviary gets badly hurt. One of his wings broke and he can't fly. But they got the eggs back and return.
Sabi runs down to the Pearl Clan camp only to find out that the people going to the festival already left awhile ago. And with Braviary got of commission she can't fly to them on time either.
She still warns the Pearl Clan that something bad is happening, but she's not sure exactly what. They'll get ready for something to happen.
Sabi doesn't know it but Braviary got the Virus from the sisters. And she catches it from him. The eggs hatch. A mix of Rufflet and Zubat. She and her Pokemon help the parents take care of the babies. Baby Rufflets are a handful!
But when she falls ill, they have to help care for her as well. After she becomes a Rufflet the children keep mistaking her for an older sibling. It doesn't that the parents are in parent mode so they are treating her like she's one of their kids.

Viral Pokerus au: Lian
thinking about what I'm going to do with the wardens besides Melli and Ingo, so I decided I'll make a post for each of them.
So Lian's a kid and lives near Jubilife, so I'm sure he goes to the festival. He's really disappointed about it ending early because of a "stupid cold".
Sliggoo went to the festival with him and it got infected but Lian hasn't quite caught it from Sliggoo yet.
He gets infected by Sliggoo a day or so after the festival ends. He tries to help Lucas with getting supplies for the sick people in Jubilife. Lucas helps him when he falls sick as well.
Afterwards Lian has a hard time with his new body as a Goomy because it's so different from what he's used too. It's very weird to move around for him because No Legs.
Pretty sure Mai gets sick before him, so he and Lucas probably help her too.
Lian's probably going to need help from the wild Pokemon in the forest to do his duties but he's too proud to ask for help. Sliggoo has to help him, he's embarrassed that he can't seem to do anything for himself.
Imaging a scene where he wants to pick something up but realizes/remembers that he no longer has hands. He is very upset about this.
Decides he wants to evolve into a Sliggoo as soon as possible so he can have hands.

Viral Pokerus au: Misfortune Sisters
The Misforune Sisters are in the Mirelands. They eavesdropped on some Diamond Clan members who mentioned Lord Braviary’s mate (A Crobat) laid eggs recently. After the failure of their plan to catch Lord Acanine's son, they see this as a perfect opportunity. So they hatch (pun) a plan to steal his eggs.
The Mirelands a bit of a mess, Pokerus wise. Other than Coronet, it's the only place at this point that has Pokerus, but it's already spreading quickly. Roughing it out in the wilds does not help when it comes to avoiding animal illness. So of course the Sisters get infected.
Coin gets infected by a Murkrow, after her having to chase after it because it stole a nugget from her. Clover gets infected by Yanma, after angering one, and getting chased by a bunch, and hiding in the grass. Charm gets infected by a Gastly, she's very fond of Gastly and likes to feed them, in return they'll keep an eye out for other people for her. They, of course, don't know they are infected.
They go up to the icelands and sneak into Snowpoint Temple, the top of Snowpoint is where Lord Braviary's nest resides. They cause some sort of trouble as a distraction and swoop in, each stealing one egg, and run off. Lord Braviary and Crobat chase after them, to get their eggs back.
They send all four of their Pokemon out at once. Rhydon uses a Rockslide that causes a larger avalanche. Braviary gets caught in this and breaks his wing. All of their Pokemon get fainted, but Crobat is still there, and she's pissed. They give up, leave the eggs and run.
They don't make it far before running into Warden Gaeric. He doesn't know what's going on, but the Sisters are always up to no good. He ties them up and asks Lord Avalugg to watch them, while he looks into what's going on. They escape though, and get away. Turns out, Lord Avalugg is too big and slow to catch them, but Gaeric wasn't really thinking.
Remember that they've been sick this whole time, and the time is they've been getting worse. They escaped but they didn't get far because the fever is starting to set in. They hide out in a cave in the icelands. A Blissey finds them and takes pity on them, after all Blissey aren't very judge-y.
So the wild Blissey takes care of them while they are transforming, it gets help from a couple of Blissey friends. They are very freaked out about what's happening, they don't know what's going on. All they know is that they are very sick and are turning into Pokemon. The order they got infected/trasform is: Clover, Coin, and then Charm. It's real freaky to see your friends getting turned into Pokemon.
After they transform and realize they are all still themselves, just in Pokemon form, they calm down. They are like, how can we use this to our advantage? They realize that they can all fly/levitate, this will make get away much easier. And they are Pokemon, no one will recognize them! Who would suspect that a trio of Pokemon stealing stuff is the Misfortune Sisters? (They don't know yet that people are turning Pokemon region wide)
They go to Pearl Clan first and mange to steal a few things, however, they couldn't get much because they are fought off by other People-turned-Pokemon. They realize now that this is something going on everywhere. They realize though, that everything is in chaos due to the transformations. They can take advantage of this.
They continue to steal, often times targeting the Gingko Guild and the Galaxy Team. The Galaxy Team tries to catch them but they keep getting away, it causes a real headache for Komado to have some of the transformed continuously break into the village. They target Guild members that are sick, so the members can't do much to retaliate as they steal their stuff.
Honestly, the trio are kind of a menace. But as more and more people turn into Pokemon it gets harder for them to steal because of others fighting back. The Diamond Clan get quickly scratched off their list for places to steal from because so many there have already transformed.
People are out to get them, to stop them from what they're doing. In particular the Gingko Guld is really trying to hunt them down because of how much the Sisters have stolen from them. Hell hath no fury like a merchant scorned. Anybody who's stolen from Kecleon in Mystery Dungeon knows this. They are in trouble.
