Vaughn Bodē (/boʊˈdiː/;[a] July 22, 1941 – July 18, 1975) was an American underground cartoonist and illustrator known for his character Cheech Wizard and his artwork depicting voluptuous women. A contemporary of Ralph Bakshi, Bodē has been credited as an influence on Bakshi's animated films Wizards and The Lord of the Rings. Bodē has a huge following among graffiti artists, with his characters remaining a popular subject.

Today I decided to do some artwork of Mario, having gotten some inspiration from Wizards and the work of Vaughn Bodē and wanting to draw some dumb, fun stuff. I know that Mario is canonically supposed to be in like his mid-20s, but I've always seen him as like this uncle-type guy pushing his mid to late 50s, who is weird, but is also a pleasant and fun person to be around.

I'm not sure how to really do posts like this, so I'll just put the individuals under a cut. They ought to be in the order I drew them, that's how I put the into the post anyway.

Bought myself a little birthday present this year and it only just arrived. This is a VAUGHN BODĒ original prelim sketch. The full piece has all 3 panels from this strip. It’s easily one of the coolest things I own, and I love it. Also found a copy of cheech wizard recently. Such an incredible, unique voice from an artist that was not afraid to just do his own damn thing.
