idk there’s just something very dark and a bit tragic about the whole tel mithryn situation... all the people there. what happens. what happened
neloth, who doesn’t care about pretty much anything or anyone. will do anything for the advancement of knowledge and the acquisition of power. neloth, who killed his apprentice; neloth, who didn’t mourn her; who didn’t tell talvas what happened to make ildari hate him so much, but who nevertheless treats talvas like less than dirt
talvas, who doubtless wanted better. who suffers, who denies his suffering, because he has this dream. but the dream is of power, and glory, and it’s at once a naive and optimistic sort of hope, and a terribly dark side to a man who doesn’t seem like he should have one
elynea, here because nobody else has use for the one thing which gives her life meaning. elynea, who hates neloth. who puts up with him because she’s never had anything else, really. who left her family behind in the ash, who lives almost alone at the edge of the world
varona, who died. elynea misses her. neloth does not. replaced her immediately. saw her in terms of the quality of her tea. sees drovas likewise. drovas, who’s only here because he’s running from worse
ildari sarothril...
it doesn’t fit. none of them fit. they’re just here, trying to hold the place together, sometimes literally. some of them still think they can achieve great things. some of them just don’t know what else they could be doing. fragments, united pretty much solely by dislike of neloth
neloth, whom they know to be capable of horrible, horrible things. things they don’t know about, or simply won’t speak about. this unspeakable thing lingering for twenty years. of course something had to give. it’s astounding ildari was the only one who cracked

here is my answer, as requested by @trimensionallydancendental, for question 13: does your oc have any particular rivalry or mutual dislike with any npc?
Julianne: tries not to actively dislike people, or start rivalries. That being said, if you're a necromancer who's started a cult with the express intention of undermining the Mages' Guild and threatening the life of Hannibal Traven - well, then you're in danger.
Corinne: also does not see petty rivalries as particularly helpful to anything: she is more of an enemy of concepts, like crime, and treason against the Emperor. While in the Imperial Guard she did not especially agree with Lex's vendetta against the Grey Fox, but she did support the Phillida one against the Dark Brotherhood.
Marianne: it may or may not surprise you to learn that she does not have any particular dislike of Hieronymus Lex, her natural nemesis. Like the previous Grey Fox she has a great respect for him. She is similar to Julianne in that she tries not to dislike people without very good reason: it does more harm than good.
Lunette: can be quick to establish rivalries and mutual dislike. She would be slow to name individuals, however, instead listing concepts such as imperialists, capitalists and supporters of slavery; and of course the established villains of her questlines. (That said, don’t mention Crassius Curio in her company.)
Julienne:  too anxious to act on any budding dislike of a person. It would just attract attention. She dislikes all the usual suspects, like the Stormcloak leaders, but would never act any less than insufferably polite in their company. (As you may well find out, eventually, when I finish my write-up of the quest Season Unending.)
Talvynea: aside from the obvious Stormcloak suspects – she and Neloth really don’t get on. It isn’t a friendly rivalry, it’s a full-on conflict of personalities, a dislike for how Talvas, Elynea and Varona are all treated, and, when the ash-spawn mystery had been solved, a sheer horror at what happened to Ildari. (Possibly some of her dislike comes from the general notion that Neloth is still around, but many others who deserve it far more are not.)
