— HISTORY EXPOSED!
Minjoon was a very docile baby. He rarely cried or made a fuss. He looked around at everything with big eyes, always watching and observing what was going on around him with awe. He learned to walk earlier than most children, but he had a problem with speaking. His toddler years were also similarly a breeze. There were many times when his parents would forget he was there because he was so quiet and self soothing. He didn’t make a lot of noise or throws big fits, instead he played by himself and only disturbed anyone when he needed something or sought the attention. He altogether was a very easy child to raise.
His first bouts of accidental magic were the only time Minjoon ever caused a problem. Freezing the floor of the hallway in anger so his brother would slip and fall wasn’t so bad, but setting fire to the drapes during at a party because another boy kept calling him names was a bit worse.
Magic fascinated him from a very young age, and he desperately wanted a wand so he can perform it himself. The closest he could get was books, but even those had words that took him a few reads before he could fully grasp what they were trying to say. He did it regardless.
Receiving his letter for Silhak was one of the best days of his early life, but actually starting there was even better.
Minjoon was a quick learner and picked up on most of his subjects with ease. He become the envy of his classmates when he could answer questions they couldn’t. It didn’t help that they also mistook his shyness for a superior and snobby attitude. He learned how cruel other children could be in his first few years at Silhak and his timid and quiet demeanor made it hard for him to stand up for himself. Their taunts and jabs were ignored to the best of his abilities, burying himself in magic and school work, but he could only bend so far before he snapped.
When he learned to bite back, everyone was shocked. He took the insults he learned over the past few years and spit them back with a deeper burn. He wasn’t quick to anger, but when he was angry he became relentless. A few sneaky jinxes or hexes here and there were the perfect way to get someone to shut up and leave him alone.
The rest of his early schooling goes rather smoothly, with only a few bumps in the road here and there.
teenage years
His interest in the dark arts developed as his body hit puberty, and Minjoon couldn’t understand why many saw it as such a taboo. Even at thirteen he saw the dark arts as just another part of magic. Though some of it was twisted and wrong, it was still magic. He was smart enough to keep his interest in the subject private, but he didn’t leave it alone.
Minjoon was still an impeccable student, though anything involving subjects that bore him were harder to keep his grades up high in. Herbology was one such subject, but he worked hard at it despite his lack of interest. DADA and Transfiguration were favorites of his, but anything else involving active magic was still fun and important to him.
It was also during this time that he started to become more aware of the world. He realized his position, and thus began his thirst to be chosen for heir. He wanted the be in a position of power, not just for his own desire but to also be able to help make a change. He saw the muggles as toddlers who had been let loose without adult supervision, distasteful beings who couldn’t help but destroy everything in their path. He wanted to put them in their place and help magical people gain their rightful place as the true superiors. The only person standing in his way was his brother, so he tried to prove he was the better choice. He worked vigorously in everything and learned how to place himself in the right crowd.
Most of his choices from then on, from the moment his mind was truly able to grasp what was possible for himself, he fought vigorously in everything to beat his twin. The pressure from his family only made it worse. He wanted to be proud of him, to see his true worth and acknowledge Minjoon as a worthy member of the Lee family. It tore him up inside that his competition was his own brother, to the point that he couldn’t even stand to look himself in the mirror sometimes. He craved greatness, and not even his twin or his disgust with himself would stop him.
He had his true friends that he still held dear, but then he also had the friends he started to keep just for their social status or their position to help him in furthering his own stance. The soft and delicate boy he truly was, was locked down to allow for someone stronger and harder to take his place.
At this point he learned to keep a cold and detached approach when it came it others. If they didn’t have any value to him or were able to serve a purpose, he saw no point in wasting his time. He wasn’t rude, just distant and curt. He learned to slip into the emotionless person everyone seemed to believe him to be, a mask, a form of armor rather than a weakness. It made it harder for him to let anyone else in behind his thick walls, but it was a security measure he took to protect himself.
Law enforcement was an obvious choice for his future, even if he didn’t want it. His family were all people of law, so he would be too, but it was his choice as to what he actually did in the department. Becoming an auror was perfect for him, a clash between his love of active magic and knowledge. It would also give him ample opportunity to gain attention and recognition. He worked hard in his latter years at Silhak to make sure that his test results were good enough to get into the auror program.
adulthood
After graduating at twenty, he went to Sejong to further his learning before going into the auror program. He spent his time there making connections and learning more about the world. His distaste for muggles was furthered the more he learned of their history and their current events, only solidifying his respect and support of the cult. He didn’t think muggles should all die, but he saw them as unworthy of the power they hold.
He attended social events and made connections with people of importance to try and further his chances of being chosen as heir. Minjoon showed off the face of a poised and elegant young man in public who was very capable. He was always careful of his image, and of what he said.
After studying at Sejong for three years, he went into the auror program to start his training. He both loved and hated being an auror. Sometimes the work was so frustrating, enough to keep him up without sleep, but he was passionate about it and the satisfaction of closing a case was enough to pay back all of his hard work. He’s only been an auror for about a year and a half after his training, but he’s doing pretty well for himself. The pressure for greatness is always there, but Minjoon takes the challenge as just another obstacle to becoming heir. He wants to see himself rise up in power, as well as live up to his family name.
Competing against his own twin brother has weighed down on him heavily, but Minjoon won’t allow himself to feel any kind of weakness. Being pitted against the person you came into the world with was never going to be easy, and he sometimes wishes he could have a normal relationship with his twin. He blames his family for what has become of him and his brother, but it’s also his fault. He could have just conceded and allowed his twin the be the heir if he truly wanted peace between them, but his lust for power and his drive to right the world has made that impossible.
He always wants to be better in every way, and any kind of failure boils his blood. Minjoon has never been a particularly angry person, but losing to his brother seems to snap him into a fury. It’s so hard to resist doing anything sneaky to hinder his brother sometimes, and it would be a lie to say that he hadn’t slipped up a time or two, but Minjoon doesn’t want to win because he cheated. If, when, he beats his twin for heir, he wants to do it because he is truly the better choice. No one is more capable for holding that position with pride and elegance like him, at least in his mind.
The current situation going on is something of an annoyance to him. He hates the order and all their self righteousness as well as the growing violence from their side. He sees the order as a waste of time and the members of the organization are ignorant fools. His opinion on them he tries to keep civil in public, but he will never go so low as to pretend to understand or support them in anyway for any kind of gain. The death eaters on the other hand, he thinks are a very smart group of like minded individuals. Their opinions on blood purity and birthright can be a bit too extreme for his taste, but he does agree with them to some degree. He sees pure bloods as superior, but not to the point that half bloods and muggleborn should be treated differently. He takes pride in his blood status, but a person who is able to perform magic is worthy in his mind. He also doesn’t see them as evil people. Evil in his mind is saved for the wizards who kill innocent people or those who commit sinister acts. He believes that evil people can come from anywhere, whether that be within the death eaters, the order, or even the cult.
He supports the cult full heartedly because he truly believes in what they stand for. Wizards and witches should not be made to hide while muggles destroy the planet. What are they even hiding for? To protect the muggles? To protect themselves? What do they have to fear from non magical people? There is no reason in his mind why the world should be allowed to continue in this way. More than anything, he wants to be one of the helping forces to achieve this goal, hence why he’s so hell bent on becoming the heir.
The tension that is growing is worrying for him, but he thinks that it was bound to happen at some point. He sees war as inevitable at this point, whether it be now or twenty years from now. To resolve their differences peacefully would be much better in his mind, but it looks like it’s getting harder and harder for that to happen as time passes by. He doesn’t want to fight other wizards, it’s counter productive, but he will do what is necessary for what he believes in.
