TWIFOS2020: DAY 2

This whole book was insane. The whole opening with the disappearance of Maggie. There were so many creepy things said. It was such a way to bring us in after that insane opening. Just. I don't know I could talk a lot about this book.

my post for day 2 of this week is full of spiders 2020 is simply that WTHDIJR is one of the Few books that i literally Had to take breaks from reading because it freaked me out a hell of a lot and i both deeply admire that and know that it’s why that’s the only book of the series i havent attempted to reread (yet) //cont under the cut but it’s super rambly lmao. also tw drugs/suicidal ideation/all the shit that Happened in WTHDIJR, yaknow

for me personally it honestly was like, in part because 1) i had no idea if there was gonna be a 4th book at the time of reading it and 2) john’s Problems in specific are actually--i don’t know if i have claim to this word but it’s the one i’ll use because i just cant think of a more accurate one--genuinely triggering for me so the book having More Detail On That kinda fucked with me. especially that bit where dave thinks john died. fucking hell dude lmao. also 3) dave’s issues with depression in that book, specifically, Hit Really Close To Home. it was legit that moment in the bookstore where he realizes there’s no way he could get Amy a gift that made me go “ah. oh no. kin.” 

that being said i actually love the book a lot, it’s just a really tough read for me lol. i liked that much as the shenanigans happening were Fairly Obviously set up to make the characters (and reader tbh) doubt their perceptions and i love that even though it was basically prime setup for “oh no the conflict is the characters don’t trust each other now because of all of the This” the trio did the polar opposite. i’d kinda already figured, thanks to TBIFOS, that John, Dave and Amy trust each other wholeheartedly, but WTHDIJR really just laid it all out, man. particularly that bit about Dave deciding that if Amy was a monster, they’d jsut be monsters together. god, dude, i love that.

there’s so many moments in WTHDIJR that truly Hit, you know? it’s got a lot of excellent scenes, just like the last 2 books honestly, and it makes me look forward to the 4th book even more 

...except im still scared john will die LMAO
