TWD: DD has managed to shipbait the Caryl fandom more in one season than TWD did in 11.

Y'all are just screwing with us AGAIN and don't plan to deliver in this new series, right?

I hate this show so bad. I'm exhausted with a decade under my belt of emotional turmoil.

Just make them undoubtedly canon already and end our misery.....

I know they won't, but the shriveled up part of my heart that refuses to give up hope is sliiiiiiightly optimistic.

OK so, I re-watched the Daryl Dixon spinoff and I noticed it during my first time through the season, but watching it in (mostly) one afternoon it’s really obvious how many random people meet Daryl and are instantly like, “the people here in France should be your new family”.  Like, what the fuck is wrong with them?!?

I mean, it felt a lot like that thing were a character says something terrible just so the main character can correct them (and thus we have verbal confirmation on where the main character stands), but there’s also that thing that tv writers like to do where they have characters say things that are supposed to be lessons that the main character should be learning.

Given how I interpreted Daryl’s emotional state through the season (and the way he’s like “no, I want to go home to my family in America” every time) I feel like it was the first option, but I’ve seen other spinoffs try to pretend established relationships from the old series doesn’t exist before so I’m a physical embodiment of that “one fear” meme right now.

twd:dd spoilers ahead -> okay i finished daryl season one and i rly do love it. was midkey worried about season two for a second there cos i saw a post about it being the book of carol and was like. well great. we get one great season of french shit then its back to the same old same old. and i'm a hater that just cant fuck with carryl so i was like. sigh. but! that trailer looked good! i CAN definitely fuck with carol going on a mission to find daryl! also that last bit with daryl at the beach and laurent following and calling out? genuinely thought daryl was gonna wave him down and bring him home to america to add to the kids he's adopted over the years but also daryl choosing to stay? like i'm sad becos thats his HOME hes kinda turning away from but also i've grown attached to the paris gang so this is actually very fun. anyway it's been COOL and genuinely so FUN and INTERESTING to see daryl in his own element like with no family that he's grown to rely on to stand behind like seeing him make his own choices to do whatever he deems it takes to do what he's gotta do? just seeing him having to adapt and rely on new people and trust others etc its been literally. So good. none of this makes sense but idc! thanku @ the walking dead for giving me another six episodes to be stupid over

i watched the finale ep of the daryl series earlier. it was pretty good. only complaint is, i find it weird how daryl is hesitant to leave france, like he's known laurent and isabelle for only a few days meanwhile the ppl back in the us he's known for years. again i loved the variant walkers lol i hope we see more of that next season. carol at the end!!! i was really happy to see her, i'm glad she'll be back. rip quinn, idc tho. i did like the emotional moments with daryl. i liked that that one antagonist guy decided to help daryl and co. also i kinda liked daryl more in this show in general, idk why. excited to see carol in s2, i think it'll help the show. haha yeah
