Each Other
A gift for @clockwork-anemoia , you asked and you shall receive my friend. Also this is a shameless feel good fic because I need comfort.
THIS HAS SPOILERD FOR CHAPTER 16 UNDER THE CUT!
You should’ve been there. But when the dark troopers took Grogu you tried to stop them, and they left you with broken ribs and a broken heart.
Cara gave you the call, explaining what happened on the ship to you and Boba, she also informed you both that Din is technically the Mand’alor and Bo-Katan was “allowing” you both to mourn (you never liked the bitch). She turned to you with a haunted look in her eyes and said, “He needs you,” before hanging up. Boba had turned to you and said you can take over his quarters so that you and Din could have privacy to mourn. You waited for three hours before they finally arrived, and you immediately took Din by the hand and pulled him into the room. You hesitantly took his helmet off, tossing it onto the cot and taking his face into your hands to look into his brown eyes that were tinged with red. Din didn’t move, he’d normally wrap an arm around you, but his head hung in your hands and his eyes didn’t sparkle like they used to, it was like he was a shell of the man you knew.
When he finally spoke his voice cracked and sounded like he was holding back a dam, “I gave him up, I had him in my arms for a few minutes and I gave him up to a Jedi,” were the only words he spoke before he collapsed into your arms. His sobs cause his body to shake like a leaf, tears pouring down his eyes and into the shoulder of your shirt soaking it, his arms wound tightly around your body like he was trying to hold himself together. You started to cry with him, but kept many of your tears at bay, you needed to be strong for him just like he was with you a few days ago. You both stood like that before a particularly hard sob caused Din’s knees to buckle, pulling you both onto the cold floor and Din curled into you more like a child would it’s mother. Din kept repeating, “I gave him up,” over and over and the only thing you could do was hold him in one arm as you used a free hand to run through his hair as you rocked him side to side.
You stayed like that for hours before he pulled away, resting his forehead against yours and breathing deeply, sniffling between hiccups. His hand rose to your face and he deepened the pressure of his nudge, “what are we going to do Cyar'ika,” he sniffed looking into your eyes for answers. You gave him one kiss on his nose before pulling out a holo disc, the image of a house on some planet floating between you.
“The armorer sent me this a few hours ago, the covert moved to another planet and they set up a house for us,” you smiled at the look on his face, “ I say we tell Bo-Katan to go jump in a sarlacc pit and give her the damn saber so that you and I can finally retire with the covert,” You suggested. Din could only nod, his eyelids drooping from the fight and all the emotions, so you helped him strip him down to his undershirt and pants before settling him into the bed.
“Please stay Cyar'ika, don’t leave me,” he whined, his hand holding onto yours tightly and making your heart crack a little more. You kneeled next to him and brushed the hair from his face before peppering kisses along his furrowed brow.
“I’ll never leave you Din Djarin and don’t think otherwise, I just need to give Boba the coordinates and then I'll be right back with you my love,” you mumbled against his cheek, leaving one last kiss before exiting the room. You quickly made your way up to the cockpit and gave Boba coordinates, apologizing for having to commandeer his quarters, and then grabbing a few rations before jogging back to Din.
You saw the pillow stained with a few tears but otherwise Din was completely asleep, he was curled into himself like he would when Grogu would crawl between you two during the night. He looked so peaceful in his sleep with his face relaxed like it was and you almost wanted to leave him alone before he mumbled your name in his sleep, you cursed his light sleeping habits. You took off your gear and crawled underneath the covers behind him, curling yourself around his back and pulling him into you like he usually would most nights and nuzzled your nose into his shoulder to inhale his scent. He stirred a little in his sleep mumbling how much he loved you before entwining his hand with the one resting on his chest. It may take awhile, and the pain may never leave, but you know you’ll have each other to lean on until you can both learn to cope with the hole Grogu left in your little clan.
