The Dutch Royal Family sends Canada a Royal gift of 10,000 tulip bulbs every year for the last 78 years. The tulips commemorate the Canadian Military who fought & lost their lives in helping to liberate the Netherlands in WWII. Also for keeping the Dutch Royal family safe in Canada during WWII. In remembrance of Princess Marguerite’s birth in Canada during the war & for the lasting friendship between our countries.

Canada honours Princess Julianna’s gift by holding a 10 day Tulip Festival every spring, in May. Over a million tulips are planted every year. This consists of 100 varieties, in 120 gardens, in 30 locations in our National Capital Region of Ottawa On, & Gatineau Que.
