Cats! But make it Chinese Opera! When I posted the initial exploration art of Tugger I had mainly referenced Peking Opera, but since then I think the style has grown to be a combination of multiple genres of opera haha

Since they are both sons of Old Deuteronomy, I wanted them to have elaborate costumes and roles that will stand out amongst the others! Tugger is playing the 武小生 (Wu Xiao Sheng) role and Munkustrap is playing the 长靠武生 (Chang Kao Wu Sheng) role. 武生 are martial characters and warriors, Munkustrap’s specific role is a high ranking warrior defined by using a polearm while Tugger plays a younger warrior. Although my explanation is short there are actually a lot more details regarding the difference in singing tone, costumes, and personality between each role! I’ve only started researching about this when i started this project so unfortunately I am still not very knowledgeable about Chinese Opera ><; but hopefully I get to learn more as I continue exploring with this project 🥰

This Halloween I decided to dress as (a human version of) The Rum Tum Tugger!!

So happy with how I was able to make this work, and I felt sexy and great in this costume! Until it got too cold and I switched into comfier clothes (last pic)

every so often I come back to attempting to draw these cats has people, as I've never been good at drawing people. So here's another attempt.

I really just want to find a style that feels like me and not a strangers.

Afterall, drawing a large amount of Rum Tum Tuggers is both a normal thing to want and possible to achieve.

2019 Tugger just randomly humming/singing Jason Derulo songs is just the funniest thing in my head. :/ wtf is my humor anymore

I apologize for the length of time this has sat in my ask ^^; Tumblr mobile is weird and ate the notification.. I think that Tugger has a bit of claustrophobia due to getting stuck in a dresser drawer that closed on him and jammed shut. despite his stature and cool facade I think that the tom cat has quite a few fears along with it like his indecisiveness is probably a cover-up for the fact that he is a people pleaser and has a fear of failure due to it.

Misto is adding to his plushie collection, and Tugger is cheering him on! Look how how good he's doing at the claw machine

...but oh no

no whale toy for him :(

Tugger won't stand for this! He must confront this machine for denying his Misto what he deserves 😤
