How affectionate are they with their friends? Their family? Their romantic partner(s) (if they have any)? Are they more physical or emotional when it comes to displaying their affection? Why?
For most of his life, Gareth has always been receptive to physical touch. With two siblings and a doting mom he wasn’t a stranger to it. After Archie died and their mom left he started to get quite flinch-y about touch and became fairly averse, even though he was simultaneously touch-starved. Eddie kind of fixed this by being Eddie. He’s still not exactly liberal with touch but for his ride or dies he’s always slinging an arm around their shoulders, leaning up against them or patting their arm, he becomes a big labrador that enjoys a hug and nap, preferably with all his favourite people in eye-line. Emotionally, Gareth enjoys problem-solving for others but remains a disaster for himself, wilfully oblivious and acting like it’s not his business.

closed starter for mike wheeler / @troubledsouls
not only did mike want to go to the party at the hideaway with will, but he also wanted to do matching costumes with him. even if mike considered those costumes to be ‘best friend’ costumes, he was still going to consider it to be a big win. they would take what they could get at this point. and once mike confirmed his interest, will knew he’d have to get to planning their costumes almost immediately. and maybe will had gone a bit overboard, but it was totally worth it! it was going to be a great couples best friend costume!
and that’s how they found themselves at the hideout, with mike dressed as beetlejuice and will dressed as mister argentina. everything was going so great for the two of them and to make things even better, he ended up getting a free drink as he went up to the bar to get some more. something about how they liked his costume, which they should because will worked very hard on it. as he went back over to mike, he handed him one of the drinks with a smile before fiddling with his jacket just a bit. “got the drinks for free, someone liked my costume.” he told him as he slipped the money mike had previously given him back into the other’s pocket.

“hey.” will cracked a small but genuine smile to his best friend. a thin new order tee and his softest flannel were folded neatly in his arms, with a comfy pair of tartan sweatpants jonathan had donated to will years ago. he hoped they’d end closer to mike’s ankles than his knees.
the smile wobbled and hazel eyes flicked to the ground.
“thanks for not making fun of me for asking you to stay over,” he whispered gratefully, though he wondered if mike should have. thinking about daniel made him want to cry and he hugged his arms around himself. “god, i shouldn’t have made you, your mom’s gonna worry.”

Nancy had three coffees in the passenger seat of her car as she headed out the Byers house for what seemed like the fifth time that day. She had already been out earlier to drop off food that her mother had made and to run some errands for Joyce, and now she was heading out to make sure Jonathan go some kind of rest before he died. Pulling in front of the house, Nancy put the car in park and grabbed the coffee and her bag before heading towards the front door.
She didn’t even bother knocking at she walked inside. It was weird to not see Will. Nancy was never close to him but he was best friends with her brother and had been a fixture in her life since before she could remember. Heading back towards Jon’s room, Nancy knocked on the door before opening it and handing him a coffee. “I swear this doesn’t have sleeping meds in it, but you’re probably going to need more than this if you want to stay up.”

showing up at mike’s wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. in fact, he spent so much time at the wheeler residence he was sure he heard ted make some offhand comment about will having his own home. but he didn’t pay much attention to that, he knew how mike’s dad could be. and right now, he really just needed to see mike, be with him and just forget about everything else going on around them.
and one of the great things about mike living in the basement was that he didn’t even have to come across his parents. karen was great but ted was well... ted. he knocked on the door as a courtesy before walking into the basement, “mike, are you home?” he called out as he closed the door behind him, eyes scanning the basement for the other. “i know i probably should have called before just showing up but i...” he trailed off for a moment, shaking his head a bit. “i just wanted to see you, i missed you.”
