Look at me, after years and years and years I finally pushed myself to make an AO3 account. I uploaded my TROS: fix-it story I posted on Tumblr over there as well, storyboard included. I also went over it again and rewrote the bad writing of my 17 year old self to hopefully make it a better reading experience. (Tumblr version is also updated with the rewrite.)

I have big plans for that account. Big meaning the Post-TLJ fanscript I am working on which ignores everything that happened after ep 8 and will be illustrated. So yeah, stay tuned!

I might change my username to something similar to Tumblr. We'll see.

The Rise of Skywalker released four years ago today, and subsequently gave rise to a number of GingerPilot fix-it fics where the spy lived. Our fic of the week, THE SPY THAT SAVED THE GALAXY, was written by @gamebird for the Hux & Kisses exchange. 🧡🚀

Rose gripped the edges of her datapad. No.

She hated that voice. She hated that she even thought of him, and his stupid, desperate, obviously fake offer.

Poe pursed his lips. “You’re thinking about Hux’s offer, aren’t you?”

“No!”

“Yeah, you are. You have that same closed-off expression as this afternoon.”

Rose felt her face heat. “It’s not worth considering.”

Do you have any recommendations for TROS rewrites/fix-its?

My favorites are You'll Be The One To Turn by @postedbygaslight (Complete) and The Tether by @classeyspanks (In-progress). Technically they were both written before TROS, so not sure if they count as fix-its as much as post-TLJ canon-divergent. There are others but IMO these are the best-written and most in-character, so easy for me to imagine them as the real ending! Planning on getting bound copies of both some day!

Fic summary:

Her fingers skate lightly over his abdomen. The silver-dollar sized mark is flat, the same texture as the rest of his skin, just a few shades darker and with blurred edges, almost like the skin has been scorched.

Burned.

"You know, some cultures believe a birthmark is from a past life, showing how that person was killed." Rey hears the words coming out of her mouth, but it's too late to stop them.

She cringes. What a crazy thing to say.

She must have read it somewhere once, but still. It’s a horrible thought, one she doesn't even wish to linger over, the thought of someone killing Ben… and besides, she doesn’t even believe in the idea of past lives. It’s total nonsense.

someone left a comment on my Reylo post-Last-Jedi fic (*blows them a kiss, wherever they are*), talking about how tragic it is to read my good ending after watching TROS, and yeah. After TROS, I re-read my ending dozens of times in the months afterwards. Those last ten chapters absolutely got me through my mourning period.

And then, in their comment on my fic, they briefly touched on the most common anti-TROS talking points and - it has been three years (?!) since TROS and everything all came rushing back. TROS could have been a good movie! if the people making the movie had performed a bone marrow transplant about halfway through the process. Yes, 'Palpatine returned' is dumb as shit. Yes, space horses are silly. But I could've enjoyed those things if the absolute foundation of the movie had been good. It all came rushing back: all the solutions I'd come up with to 1. make the movie comprehensible 2. transform the narrative into something I would've enjoyed, while keeping as much the same as possible

Anyway now I'm itching to pick my tros-fix-it back up

Well tumblr, I finally, finally finished the post-TRoS canonverse Reylo fixit fanfic I'd been writing since tros came out and planning longer than that.

This is where I put ALL the ideas I couldn't fit in my previous two reylo fics.

Here we've got Stormtrooper rehabilitation, a droid rebellion, Rey inspired by Elphaba, Hux inspired by Commodore Norrington, Ben and Finn being buddies, Finn getting his own lightsaber, more Palpatine (sorry), the entire OT trio making an appearance, and a Prime Jedi headcanon I'm especially proud of.

Oh yeah, there's also smut. First-time smut? Zero-gravity smut? Implied tentacle dream smut? I got those.

The Long Way Home

In the stairwell, Rey lifts the ration synthesizer with the Force until it hovers over the banister. She climbs to stand beside it, balancing lightly on the railing. "Meet you at the bottom," she says, and steps off.

She lands easily next to the bottom of the stairs just as Rose and Temiri come down the usual way. They're back among the odd, translucent pipes and halfway to the landspeeder when Rey notices Rose isn't running anymore. She's staring at those pipes again, and… are those tears? "Rose, we have to go."

"I can't."

Temiri tugs at Rose's wrist with all his strength. "You said to listen to Rey!"

Rose looks at Rey. "I know I don't deserve your trust," she says. Her voice wavers, and Rey knows they're both thinking of Crait. "But I'm asking for it anyway. Please."

They made it off Exogol. They’re fine.
