Navigating the Himalayan Majesty: Unveiling the Ultimate Spiti Valley Bike Trip
Introduction
For adventure seekers who enjoy both mountains and motorcycles, Spiti Valley is a must-visit location. Spiti Valley Bike Trip is so diverse that it offers one of the most exciting travel experiences in the heart of the Himalayas. An amazing mountain, pass, valley, lake, historical site, vibrant culture, and some of the greatest local cuisine can all be found during a bike journey in the Spiti Valley. We at Motorbike Escapades present to you one of the most exceptional journeys in Himachal Pradesh, taking you through the secluded and secluded valleys of Kinnaur and Spiti.
What location is the Spiti Valley?
Tumblr media
In the northeastern region of Himachal Pradesh, high in the Himalayas, is the chilly desert valley known as Spiti Valley. "The middle land," or the region lying between Tibet and India, is what the word "Spiti" refers to. Biking in the Spiti Valley is one of the most daring trips one can go on. One of the least populous areas of India is Spiti Valley, where a motorcycle tour offers the opportunity to see some of the stunning Himalayan terrain. Discover some of the world's oldest monasteries, including Key Gompa and Dhankar monastery, the last Indian village, Chitkul, the world-famous Chandratal lake, the world-famous Hindustan-Tibetan highway, the world's highest post office at Hikkim Village, the highest village in the world connected by road at Komic Village, and the world's highest post office at Hikkim Village.
The perfect time for a trip to Spiti Valley
Although you may visit Spiti Valley year-round, whether or not you want to go on such an extreme adventure trip there depends on your level of adventure. Spiti valley is accessible both in the summer and the winter. In the winter, from November to early March, Spiti Valley is completely covered in snow, and access is quite difficult. The Manali-Kaza route will be closed during the winter, and the only way to access Spiti Valley is from the Shimla side. For this purpose, you will also need a reliable guide, a sturdy 4x4 car, and reservations for accommodation. The months of June through October are the optimum for visiting Spiti Valley; by this time, the roads from both the Manali and Shimla sides will be open and the snow will have melted. You may easily visit the area during this time and find all the amenities you need, including clean roads, lodging, cars, and public transportation. Therefore, if you're thinking about taking a road trip to Spiti Valley, it's best to go between June and October.
The best locations to see in Spiti Valley
The Top Places to Visit in Spiti Valley During Your Road Trip are listed below if you're thinking about taking one.
Atul Tunnel, Chandratal, Kunzum Pass, Losar, Kaza, Key Monastery, Kibber, Langza, Komic, Hikkim, Tabo, Dhankar Monastery, Mud village, Gue Mummy gompa, Nako Lake, Roghi Suicide point, Reckong Peo, Sangla, Chitkul, Hindustan Tibet Highway, Sarahan, Narkanda, Hatu peak, and Shimla are some of the places included in the list.
Roadways in the Spiti Valley
Tumblr media
1. Manali to Kaza: There are two options available to you if you choose to drive the Spiti Valley from the Manali side. There are two routes: Manali-Gulaba-Rohtang Pass-Gramphu, which connects to the Kaza Manali highway; or Manali-Atul Tunnel-Koksar-Gramphu, which connects to the Kaza Manali highway. The roads from Manali to Gramphu are in fair shape in both directions, but the real fun begins when you enter the Kaza Manali highway, where you'll find lots of slush and gravel roads with several river crossings. The majority of the route from Gramphoo to Kaza is off-road and has numerous water crossings, however 30 kilometers before Kaza you'll come across Tarmac Road, which will be a huge respite after a rough ride. 30% of the road is a passable road, and the remaining 70% is off-road.
2. Chandratal Road condition: The road is in poor state because it is still remote and off-the-beaten-path and no appropriate infrastructure has been put in place. entirely off-road
3. Conditions of the Kaza-Key Monastery-Kibber-Chicham bridge-Langza-Komic-Hikkim roads: Most of these are single-lane, uphill mountain roads; exercise caution when riding on these routes since they are steep, high altitude routes with side valleys that are quite deep. 20% are off-road and 80% are decent roads.
4. Kaza-Tabo-Dhankar Monastery: The route is mostly in good shape, with a few off-road areas. The Dhankar Monastery road is one lane and entirely steep. 20% off-road and 80% good roads.
5. Dhankar - Mud village — 90% of the road to Mud village is acceptable, with a few rough spots. It is primarily asphalt.
6. Mud Village, Nako Lake, and Gue Mummy The majority of the roadways are elevated and hilly. There are a few, doable, single-lane, extremely small sections of Gue Mummy Road. Eighty percent decent road
7. Nako Lake - Kalpa - Sangla - Chitkul - Most roads drop towards Kinnaur valley after Nako Lake. The roads are extremely narrow and full of curves and twists when cycling. There is a section with shooting stones when you reach Kinnaur Valley, and you must traverse this spot with extreme caution. The path is quite steep and narrow all the way to Sangla, where one must turn left after passing the Karcham dam in the direction of Chitkul and the Sangla Valley. However, once in Sangla, the road to Chitkul is in fair shape, with a few uneven patches along the way.
8. Sangla to Sarahan - After biking from Manali to Spiti Valley and exploring Chitkul, one might enjoy continuing on to Sarahan. The Hindustan Tibet Highway is currently undergoing construction, however most of the roads are in fair shape. The only way to get to Sarahan is to detour off the main highway and travel down a single-lane mountain road that offers breathtaking vistas of the lower Himalayas.
9. Sarahan-Narkanda-Hatu Peak: Most of the roads are paved up to Narkanda; however, from Narkanda, one must detour to Hatu Peak. The route to Hatu Peak is narrow and steep, with thick forests and pine trees encircling it on all sides. Riding a bike in the rain is quite challenging because of the increased slickness and moisture on the road.
Routes for getting to Spiti Valley
There are two ways to go from Delhi or Chandigarh to the Spiti Valley.
1. First route: Delhi/Chandigarh – Manali – Chandratal – Kunzum La pass – Losar – Kazi – Tabo – Nako – Kalpa – Narkanda – Shimla – Delhi/Chandigarh
2. Path No. 2: Chandigarh/Delhi – Shimla – Nagpur, Kalpa, Nako, Tabo, Kazi, Chandratal, Manali.
It is possible to begin in Manali and finish in Shimla, or the other way around.
Conclusion:
If you are planning a road trip or bike trip through the Spiti Valley, it is best to start from Shimla as it will allow you to acclimate and the road conditions are better than those in Manali. You should also visit between June and September as the weather will be more pleasant and the trip more comfortable. Make sure you select the adventure travel company that will best accommodate you and provide you with an unforgettable experience. For more details visit us @ Capture a Trip
