Auggie's mom is out of town but we had a nice walk with dad as part of their go home training session. A passing neighbor even complimented them on how nice they were walking together. The first week after go home is the simplest, yet the hardest. Our goal is for the dog to be in a crate, on place or on leash with the owner for the week. This helps break old behavior patterns and lets the owner get acquainted with their "new" dog. I had a follow-up session with Baxter and his family today and he greeted with me with a "submissive grin". While he is showing his teeth, taken in context of the rest of his soft body language, it is clearly a happy expression. And I was happy to see him, too! Tavv has graduated to gen pop. She can now be loose with my pack of dogs and behave (mostly) appropriately. She still has a lot of puppy on her but she knows only so much shenanigans will be tolerated. I am grateful that my dogs are tolerant of our visitors and trust that I will keep them safe.
