Definition and definition of Film / film
While the players who play a role in the film are referred to as actors (men) or actresses (women). There is also the term extras that are used as minor characters with few roles in the film. This differs from the main actors, who have larger and more roles. As an actor and actress, good acting talent must be required that corresponds to the subject of the film in which he plays the leading role. In certain scenes, the role of the actor can be replaced by a stunt man or a stunt man. The existence of a stuntman is important to replace the actors who play difficult and extreme scenes that are usually found in action-action films.
Movies can also be used to deliver certain messages from the filmmaker. Some industries also use film to convey and represent their symbols and culture. Filmmaking is also a form of expression, thoughts, ideas, concepts, feelings and moods of a person that are visualized in the film. The film itself is mostly fictional, though some are based on actual stories or on a true story.
There are also documentaries with original and real images or biographical films that tell the story of a character. There are many other popular genre films, from action films, horror films, comedy films, romantic films, fantasy films, thriller films, drama films, science fiction films, crime films, documentaries and others.

The first television shows were experimental, sporadic programs that from the 1930s could only be seen at a very short distance from the mast. TV events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the crowning of King George VI. In Britain in 19340 and the famous launch of David Sarnoff at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the United States, the medium grew, but World War II brought development to a halt after the war. The 19440 World MOVIE inspired many Americans to buy their first television, and in 1948 the popular Texaco Star Theater radio moved to become the first weekly television variety show that hosted Milton Berle and earned the name “Mr Television” demonstrated The medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment that could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the United States took place on September 4, 1951, when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco on AT & T’s transcontinental cable and microwave relay system was broadcasting to broadcasters in local markets has been.
The first national color show (the 1954 Rose Parade tournament) in the United States took place on January 1, 1954. For the next ten years, most network broadcasts and almost all local broadcasts continued to be broadcast in black and white. A color transition was announced for autumn 1965, in which more than half of all network prime time programs were broadcast in color. The first all-color peak season came just a year later. In 19402, the last holdout of daytime network shows was converted to the first full color network season.

Hollywood spotlights Ted Kennedy scandal in ‘Chappaquiddick’
Movies
With 'Chappaquiddick,' Ted Kennedy scandal gets its Hollywood close-up
"For me, the truth has no political party, and this movie shows that was true in 1969 and that’s true today," said screenwriter Taylor Allen.

Forty-nine years after the mysterious car crash in Chappaquiddick, Massachusetts, that left a woman drowned in a pond and nearly sank the political career of Sen. Ted Kennedy, Hollywood is plumbing the murky depths of the scandal for the first time.
It remains to be seen whether "Chappaquiddick," which opened Friday, will attract an audience beyond the people who long ago condemned the late Massachusetts senator for his actions in the hours before and after the death of 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne.
"For me, the truth has no political party, and this movie shows that was true in 1969 and that’s true today," said Taylor Allen, who co-wrote the screenplay with Andrew Logan. "It’s important to evaluate how the people ended up on the pedestals in our two-party system."
Director John Curran, an avowed liberal, worried that the subject could alienate a large segment of the movie-going population when he first read the script. The 2016 presidential primaries were taking place at the time, and Curran said the partisan bickering made him think it was necessary for him as a lifelong Ted Kennedy supporter to confront his hero's biggest failing.

"I realized I can’t have this blind spot for Teddy Kennedy," said Curran. "I appreciate his greater legacy but this is part of it." He added: "It’s very hypocritical to cast aspersions only across the aisle."
Just making a movie about what happened then, however, is argueably a right-leaning political statement.
"By the nature of the events, I don't see any way [Kennedy] could be portrayed in a sympathetic light," said Kennedy historian Laurence Leamer.
Film critic Christian Toto writes about pop culture from a conservative point of view."When I first heard about the movie ... as a person of the right, I wondered, 'How will Hollywood spin the story?' Because it seems on the surface one that's so devastating to Kennedy," he said.

"With a project like 'Chappaquiddick,' if it's sugarcoated in any way, you’re going to alienate a lot of people," Toto said. "But any movie named, 'Chappaquiddick,' is also not going to be catnip to any fans of the Kennedys."
Some facts, though, transcend partisan interpretation: On July 18, 1969, Sen. Ted Kennedy and his cousin, Joe Gargan (played by Ed Helms in the film), hosted a party in a rented cottage on Chappaquiddick Island for six women who had worked on his slain brother Robert's presidential campaign.
At some point after 11 p.m., the 37-year-old Kennedy took Kopechne (played by Kate Mara) on a drive, ostensibly to catch the last ferry back to Martha's Vineyard. Instead, the heir to the Kennedy political dynasty took a wrong turn and drove his black Oldsmobile off a wooden bridge in the dark.
He emerged from the water. She didn't.

It took 10 hours for Kennedy to report the accident, by which time Kopechne's body had already been discovered by local police. The scion of the political family had an inconsistent account of his actions during that time, including why he swam back to the mainland and returned to spend the night in his hotel.
Kennedy made a plea deal less than a week later and received a two-month suspended sentence for leaving the scene of an accident.
Logan and Allen assembled their account from the testimony at an inquest six months later, as well as Kennedy's memoirs and a book of letters from Kopechne. Their biggest takeaway from the research is that history has been most unkind to the victim.
"Her name has been dragged through the mud for almost 50 years. People thought she was a floozy, that she was only a 'boiler room girl,' but they haven't given her credit for being the smart political operator she was," said Allen.
The ensuing scandal didn't sink Kennedy, who went on to serve 40 more years in the Senate, until his death in 2009. Partly that's because the media frenzy was eclipsed by the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, which dominated major newspaper headlines that week.

Jason Clarke on playing Ted Kennedy in new film 'Chappaquiddick'

But Kennedy was also aided by a team of Democratic advisers, who successfully spun the crash as the latest tragic chapter for a family that lost eldest son Joseph Jr. in World War II, and middle sons John and Robert to assassins' bullets.
The youngest Kennedy brother, however, did not emerge from that pond unscathed.
"If not for [the crash that killed Kopechne], he probably would have gone on to be president of the United States," said Leamer, author of the books "The Kennedy Men" and "The Kennedy Women."
"And if Ted Kennedy had become president we might be living in a different country right now. Chappaquiddick, however, remained the first paragraph of anything written about him afterwards. He knew that shadow was always upon him."
And all these years later, the story of a prodigal son struggling under the impossible expectation of three dead older brothers and a domineering father makes for a Shakespearean-like drama.
Growing up in Dallas, where John F. Kennedy was assassinated, the screenwriters were well versed in the political family's mystique, but Logan, 35, and Allen, 34, were born after the Chappaquiddick had faded into history. They only knew Ted Kennedy as the elder statesman of the Senate. It wasn't until they were watching a 2008 episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher" and the host referred to the surviving Kennedy brother's decision to endorse Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.
"He said, 'Ted Kennedy may have changed the course of the presidency for a second time' and that he would have been president in 1972 if not for Chappaquiddick," Allen said. "[After learning more about it] we said, 'Oh my God, this should be a movie.'"

Greta Gerwig on Russell Brand, What’s Wrong With Romantic Comedies, and How to Build the Perfect Pandora Station
By Logan Hill, March 21, 2011
source: http://www.vulture.com/2011/03/greta_gerwig.html
Greta Gerwig stars in two romances this spring: the big-studio-produced Arthur with Russell Brand (out April 8), and Allison Bagnall’s beautifully acted indie The Dish & the Spoon, which just premiered at SXSW. We met up with Gerwig in Austin to talk about the lack of romance in today's romantic comedies, how she craves the “bigness” of emotion in films like Say Anything, and why Russell Brand could be a cult leader.
It’s so nice to be out of the city, isn’t it? Yeah. You know, Allison [Bagnall] and her husband have a farm in upstate New York and when we started working together — we were writing something together which wasn’t The Dish & the Spoon — we’d go up there in the morning and work on the farm and write the rest of the day. You don’t get the chance to do that in Chinatown. There’s a bus nearby for gamblers headed to Atlantic City, though.
Is that a new addiction? Oh, no! But when my friend turned 26 her boyfriend took her to Mohegan Sun and gave her mushrooms. She spent some time lying down on the floor, staring at the carpet, terrified. She was wandering around in the parking lot.
Those carpets are very strange: They’re divided by season. There’s a weird carpet in one of the big Sacramento multiplexes. It’s all squirrels. It’s sort of an M.C. Escher squirrel carpet. I think that’s one of the benefits of growing up somewhere where there’s nothing cool to do: You notice things like squirrel carpet and you hang out in 24-hour grocery stores. That was what we did. A lot. But that’s not the point of the interview!
Okay, on to the film: You play a distraught woman who’s furious that her husband has cheated on her and then meets this almost magical young man. Your co-star Olly Alexander was an incredible new discovery, and you two really seem to have clicked. Sometimes when you have chemistry with a person, you have it because there’s this desperation that you want to get something from them — whether it’s sexual or an energy — and Olly and I had an easiness and a desire to be around each other that wasn’t needy. It didn’t have something that felt like it stole power from the other one. It felt very pure. And Alison saw the film as something that was more pure than what you have in adult romance, which is going off and having sex and then trying to figure it out. I can’t — it’s so strange because I have been in movies where there has been very explicit sex, but I think as a person I relate more to childlike crushes. I have a very deep understanding of what that is. And it was great to play it.
It seems like people just jump into bed faster and faster in rom-coms now. It’s strange. I think sometimes people confuse women’s lib or women being powerful and owning what they are with sexual promiscuity, and it’s interesting how it works in movies: “Yeah, let’s go, fuckbuddy, I don’t care … ” I don’t think it’s true of men, really. I mean, maybe it’s true of us all at some point or another, but I don’t really think that’s most people’s deepest truth.
But there’s this huge boom of films about women who are just as sexually aggressive as the men now, right? I was in one! And I loved doing it. I have walked down that road — but you know, I thought about the last movie that just truly made my heart jump out of my chest and make me feel so in love with love and characters — it was Brokeback Mountain, to be honest. It was unabashed. He takes that shirt out at the end, and says, “Jack, I swear … ” It’s so big! It’s romance and I don’t think I’ve seen anything that pure in a long time. I want that romance from the movies. I’m all for the banalities of life and humiliation and everyday tragedies, but I also think people have big moments and they have bigness in them. And they want to see that bignesss. I want to see it.
Has that been on your mind a lot lately? Well, I made a Pandora radio station out of “Africa” by Toto. Which turns out is the best radio station in the world, because it’s a lot of Don Henley “Boys of Summer” — a lot of stuff that’s epic and unapologetic and totally synthed out. I find it all very moving. And of course, “In Your Eyes” played and I felt like I had to watch Say Anything right now. But it wasn’t on Netflix Instant, so I found it broken up into ten parts on Spanish Yahoo. I guess that’s sort of where I am right now.
And your next romance is with Russell Brand in Arthur. Did you two improvise off each other? Russell’s always improvising, and I don’t mean this disparagingly at all. He’s always performing. It’s like he’s reading words off a screen in his mind. I got used to it — but not totally. I had this feeling that when he paid attention to you and put his attention on you, the sun was shining on you and it was so warm and good. And then he’d take it away and you’d just want it back again. And I think he really did have that effect on everyone around him, which is why I’ve always said he could be a cult or religious leader.

50.1 We’re off to see the...Scarecrow?
[Lana] Towards the end of summer 2016, Brother Carbon came to us with an idea for a family trip. He had read about this town called Meaford, which was holding their 20th Annual Scarecrow Invasion through October. He thought it would be a fun adventure to go look at the scarecrows and grab some lunch...just a nice day to spend with the family and we all agreed.
Tumblr media
Now, obviously it couldn’t be just as simple as that, could it? Well, it probably could have been but when my brother and I get together, we tend to become quite the pair of jokesters. One thing led to another and, the next thing you know we were talking about the Wizard of Oz and imagining which characters each member of the family would correspond to, if we were to be in the film (excluding the Scarecrow, since Meaford was already supplying that character, of course).
Starting with the wholesome Ma Carbon, we knew she had to be Dorothy. Brother Carbon, the man who probably has the biggest heart out of all of us (even if he doesn’t want to admit it), was chosen to portray the Tin Man. We stepped slightly outside of the norm for John. We always tease her that she brings rain with her everywhere she goes, so as an extension to the obvious weather-controlling abilities that she possesses, we made her the tornado that brings Dorothy to Oz in the first place. That leaves yours truly. I was bestowed with the role of the Cowardly Lion. I really don’t know what they (Brother & Ma Carbon) were trying to imply with this suggestion.
To my surprise, the idea grew more and more serious as Brother Carbon and I began brainstorming some simple costume ideas. Suddenly, we were buying supplies and creating our outfits. This was really going to happen.
[John] I have no idea where I was for all of this… I remember being entirely in for the trip and then I remember coming home from work one day, to discover that costumes would be involved. Lana has quite the mischievous grin and snicker when he is up to something and this time, with Brother Carbon involved, I must admit that I was a bit concerned. I was wondering just what my tornado outfit would look like, but left it all to the capable and creative hands of Lana, Brother Carbon & Ma Carbon.
[Lana] The day finally came; Brother and Ma Carbon picked us up early in the morning so that we could all make the scenic two-hour drive together. We even had another character join our crew for the day... a rather over-sized ‘Toto’. Puppy Carbon made for a cramped car ride but none of us could have even imagined leaving her home alone for the day. Little did I know that she would be my saving grace. I am a coffee drinker and for some reason, on this day, we did not have our morning coffee. We also didn’t fill our travel mugs with coffee like we are often apt to do when we are taking a road trip. Brother Carbon had even warned us ahead of time that we wouldn’t be making stops along the way to buy coffee. When we pulled over at a park to let our ‘Toto’ relieve herself at a park that was only a short walk to a Tim Horton’s, I took my opportunity to make the dash over and get my caffeine fix. Thank you, ’Toto’!
[John] Puppy Carbon is truly not a puppy in the real meaning of the word, however she is remarkably playful and puppy-like (for me, all dogs are puppies). She is also large and not entirely aware of her body, and had a hard time finding a comfortable position between me and Lana in the back seat. She was a great sport however, and was just so happy to be in the car with us. We are always happy to have a puppy around, so it really wasn’t so bad having her plant her elbows or feet or bum on our laps… a smidgen painful at times perhaps, but not so bad.
Tumblr media
[Lana] As we pulled into Meaford, I didn’t really know what to expect. In my mind, I was picturing a few storefront scarecrows and maybe a small section of houses with a scarecrow in the yard. The reality of it was so completely different. It truly was like an invasion. They were everywhere. There were scarecrows in the park. There were scarecrows in the stores. The scarecrows covered the bridges, lined the sidewalks and hung from the lamp posts. Scarecrows were everywhere, which we explored much more closely after stopping for a delicious lunch at a small but very busy Captain’s Corner Fish & Chips restaurant.
[John] Holy scarecrows, Batman! It was unbelievable to see the number of them around and the extent to which some people went in creating them. Some wore poodle skirts, some carried instruments, some were as individuals and others in groups. Many had pumpkin heads and others more ‘human’-like faces, and still more represented celebrities. As someone who has never made a scarecrow, I can definitely say that I was impressed with the efforts made and the community involvement. For those of you who may be Gilmore Girls fans, this event had me thinking a bit of Stars Hollow and their town festivals. (It made me smile.)
Tumblr media
[Lana] Since Ma Carbon can’t walk the streets the way that John and I can, the two of us took a stroll through town while the other Carbons went to fill up on gas and drive around. We made it to the other end of the main strip at a leisurely pace, taking photos along the way, before meeting up again with our fellow travellers.
We did stop by some scarecrows that were quite apropos to get a few pictures in our special costumes for the day. One business had Wizard of Oz themed scarecrows outside, in front of which we just had to pose.
[John] In this moment, we discovered just how shy we were in our outfits for the photo. Shy as we were though, we posed and laughed it up the entire time. (Sorry folks… you won’t get to see those pictures!)
Tumblr media
[Lana] On the way out of town, we stopped at the true gem of the Scarecrow Invasion display, simply named the Art Show. The scarecrows here were different than those in the rest of town. These scarecrows represented various celebrities of the music industry. Legendary figures from the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix to Michael Jackson and KISS, were all on display. We took a few more pictures and then began our long trip back home.
The town was nothing like what I had expected and I think that was a good thing. Some of the best days can come as a total surprise to us; being able to spend this time with the Carbon family doing something a little different, was a wonderful thing indeed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[John] It truly was a fun and special day that I will forever treasure. Thank you, Brother Carbon, Ma Carbon and Puppy Carbon, for taking us on a great adventure! Shall we start planning the next one?
Tumblr media
