Flashback to the other week trying a 2014 aged shuixian rock oolong at @topotea. I don't have much experience with aged oolongs but those I have tried tended to have a muted flavour. Received this beautiful fully-handmade duànní zǐshā pot from my better half, procured from @topotea. The inscription reads: "仰观山，俯听泉" "Look up to see the mountain, bow to hear the spring" The other side has an asparagus fern carving (commonly used in bonsai). Rediscovered this Spring 2017 "石介" #rawpuer cake from Xigui in my stash that I picked up from @topotea a couple of years ago. Very thick, quite strong green taste but very low bitterness. #2018bestnine for me. Life conspired to slow my tea activity in the latter part of the year, but I still had some amazing experiences (mostly not captured by the photos above). These included starting my own basic pumidor, finding a Sydney tea friend crazier than I am (@spacepirate1), visiting a number of tea houses abroad (@guanyinteahouse, @redblossomteacompany, @imperialteacourt, @floatingleavestea and @phoenixteashop to name a few) and meeting some Seattle-based tea folk like @teadborg, @teavoyeur and @oolongowl. Also delighted to discover new local tea places like @foursisterstea and @at_tea_duo, run several events for my work tea club (including one at @topotea) and attend the @sydneyteafestival, where I was able to catch up with many existing tea friends and meet @cuppachahq and pu'er anthropologist Jinghong Zhang for the first time. Special thanks to @teashirtsau for being a pillar of the local tea community in Sydney (well, Australia really).
