Silvio Ricci - Your Fault I'm So Horknee Event - Premium End

Standard Disclaimer: I do this for fun. I don’t, and never would, claim to be proficient at JP. There will be mistakes herein. There will be dialogue I choose to smooth out or change, because it feels choppy just straight translating. There will be the occasional snarky aside and irreverence and just plain summarizing. If you’re looking for 100% pure accuracy, without commentary or localizing, this is not for you. If you don’t mind that…then proceed, and I hope you enjoy! And please, support your local localizer (they make this stuff look easy) and Cybird by playing the games and routes when they come to English.

Note: This story event, like others recently, requires one to finish the Sweet End before the Premium can be chosen. The Premium is an expansion on and slight continuation of the events of the Sweet, but from the suitor POV - as is the epilogue. This post contains the Premium end only. The beginning of the story and the Sweet end can be found here. I will post the Epilogue separately.

After he’d brought her home from Rhodolite to Benitoite, the problem became glaringly obvious.

“...There’s way more,” Silvio says.

“There is more,” Carlo agrees.

They’re looking over the vast quantity of things filling up Silvio’s room, enough to leave him stunned. All gifts, but not a one addressed to him - they’re all for her.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing…but it rubs him wrong. “Toss them all in the storehouse,” he instructs Carlo.

Carlo asks whether he should give the report of it all to Emma. Silvio tells him no need, but that he should hold onto it so it can be given to her at some point down the line.

“And when will that be?” Carlo asks.

Silvio frowns. “I don’t know. But at the very least, not now." He says that getting so many gifts will only trouble her.

The only people who are circling her now are merchants with entrepreneurial designs, the sort who would only see her as a tool to use…and it’s not a pleasant feeling. But above all, none of these gifts are fitting for Emma, given that she values the sorts of things money can’t buy.

Emma isn’t some tool to be used for business. What the hell do you all think you’re doing with my girl?

That’s just how business works - schmoozing is part and parcel of the deal. But when it comes to her, he has a hard time being objective about it. He knows better than anyone how empty relationships based around money are.

“...As good a man as always…” Carlo says softly, and Silvio grabs him by the head, scowling, until a flailing Carlo swears he won’t say it again.

“I’m not a good person. I just don’t like it,” Silvio corrects him.

I should be the only one to give Emma gifts in the first place.

He can’t claim to not want to keep that privilege all to himself.

It’s important that Emma be made known to many people, especially given that she can’t avoid social life if she’s to be the next king’s consort. Receiving gifts also falls under the umbrella of official duties…but people’s assessing stares are just too much for him to bear. That’s the sort of selfishness that has him keeping her from talking to others.

“You’re too overprotective, Silvio,” she says to him aboard the ship at the launch party, saying she’s figured out why he won’t let her speak with people.

He’s a bit taken aback at her proclamation that she’s figured out the truth…and it’s only made worse when she hits the nail on the head. Realizing she’s seen right through him.

Emma’s no fool, he knows…but she doesn’t seem ready to rebuke him for being selfish, much to his relief.

She lays out how he only steps in when people try to dig, and he’s not surprised by how observant she is as the former Belle.

“...It bothers me,” he admits. “All they care about is taking advantage of you.” He says he knows that’s partly just how the business world works, but he hates the idea of everything being about money when it comes to her. “Relationships built solely on money are hollow.”

You’re the one who made me realize that.

After she hears him out, she takes a deep breath, and declares she’s got to get better. Has to build relationships that move beyond marks on the ledger. Surprised by her proclamation and the way she seems so confident about it.

There are few women who would choose to change themselves rather than complain about their situations, in his experience, and he’s overwhelmed by how stinking adorable she is right now. Somehow barely managing to hold himself back.

Instead he comments on how she’s cheeky like that…but to himself he thinks that maybe he was too overprotective, and stifling her. She’s not incapable.

“You’d better come through on this, or I really won’t let you talk to anyone,” he threatens on a smile, and she assures him she’s got this.

I’ve ignored your will…he admits to himself, vowing to fix that.

She assures him she’s not as weak as he might think, and he concedes that - and also his difficulties in figuring out the right path to take when it comes to her. Whether to be strict or to coddle her. And when he says as much, she seems to be smiling with great amusement before enthusiastically telling him she doesn’t mind him being a bit harsh, she can take it and not let him down.

“Is that so…” Inside, he’s pleading with her to have mercy on him and stop saying such precious things in public.

“Then I’ll stop coddling you. I’m going to be strict with you.”

He reaches out to her without thinking - desperately wanting to hug her, after so long without. Then realizing that he doesn’t think just a hug will be enough. But she takes a step back for some reason, and he doesn’t mean to protest so loudly but he does. “I said I’d stop babying you, the ban should be lifted.”

She admits she didn’t mean to move away, and he demands she not do so then - silently begging her to hurry up and give in, because he doesn’t think he can take any more of this.

Or is she doing it on purpose?

When he moves in again, she backs up again, and he doesn’t understand why. She protests that they’re somewhere public, AKA on board, and everyone could be watching, but he doesn’t see the problem given that she’s his woman.

“It’s…embarrassing, isn’t it?” she asks.

Something seems to snap inside of him at that. Hunting her down, he tries to trap her against the wall, blaming her for all this and telling her to take responsibility - the two of them devolving in to bickering and chasing each other heedless of the party.

If I don’t have to go easy on her, then I don’t have to hold back on wanting her, right? he reasons.

In the end, Emma proves the tougher opponent. Winning the on-board chase, and refusing to lift the no-touch ban even when they’re in the carriage on the way home.

“No more objections?” he asks, once they’ve returned to his room, but her response is tepid at best. And he doesn’t comprehend why she keeps her distance, almost as if wary of him. “Why are you acting like that? I thought you lifted the ‘no-touch’ ban.”

“I did. I did, but…I’m just weirdly nervous, because I haven’t been touched by you in awhile,” she explains.

“Huh?” he scowls.

She tries to tell him she’s gotta mentally prep herself, after so long, and he’s simultaneously scoffing aloud at that while internally wailing over how cute she is.

Anything resembling reason is utterly gone by now - leaving behind only beastly, irresistible desire.

“You told me I could touch you as much as I wanted to when we got back to my room, didn’t you?” he reminds her, and she haltingly affirms. “If you’ve forgotten what it’s like to be touched, I’ll remind you.”

If she’s not giving him the red light, he’s not about to take it easy, or to stop. He backs her into the corner of the room and sweeps her up into his arms before dropping a flustered Emma down atop the table, savoring the long-absent feeling of her warmth.

“Silvio…mnn.”

He kisses her, hard, to stop her words when she tries to object…and her hesitation about being touched doesn’t seem to extend to being kisses, because she seems to remember how to do so just fine. Her tongue meeting his halfway eagerly.

He knows she’s been wanting this for awhile now, badly. A longing look in her eyes whenever she touched him, whether she was aware of it or not…but he’s been painfully so.

Aloud, he accuses her of having really put him through the wringer as he carefully peels off the dress that had been made just for today and kneels on the floor. Emma coming out of her kiss-fueled daze and back to her senses.

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“You’ll see,”he promises.

She flails at that and he takes her legs and spreads them firmly apart, over her embarrassed protests.

“Ten days,” he says, and she doesn’t follow. “”It’s been ten days since I last touched you. I’ll have you regretting you ever made me endure it that long.”

He’s been teased so much, nothing remains but painful desire. Pressing his lips to the tip of her toe, he kisses a slow path upwards - Emma making half-protests the entire time, but it’s obvious her heart isn’t in them.

To himself, he blames her for all of this, for being so cute. All on her entirely.

Working his way up past her knees, trailing kisses up her thighs - higher, to the place he knows will get him the best reaction of all…

What makes Napoleon Bonaparte a member of team milk chocolate?

Disclaimer: It’s been over a good year since I played his route, my memory on specifics is blurry. All images belong to Cybird.

*Please read this for more context: Team milk chocolate

I continuously went back and forth between milk chocolate and dark chocolate for Napoleon. He’s someone who has a boyish characteristic to himself, yet he is also like a story book hero.

When the MC first comes to the mansion, he attempts to protect her at all costs although it backfires on him. On top of that he’s easy to talk to and doesn’t come off as mysterious nor does he actively push her away. Taking that into account I’ve made my decision to place him into team milk chocolate over team dark chocolate.

See, Napoleon lacks that “bad boy” aspect which places him into team milk chocolate. In other words, he’s too much of a good guy more or less. To better visualize this, I would like to compare Napoleon to Riki Yansae from Love Letter from Thief X. Similarly, enough the two of them have a main character like aspect, but Riki is more of a tease than Napoleon. There is no hesitation when Riki steals artwork or teases the MC in his game. Napoleon on the other hand is a character who isn’t willing to play risky cards. I can’t see Napoleon waking up early in the morning to paint the mansion hot pink, which is something a dark chocolate would do.

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, we’ll finally dive into what makes him a milk chocolate. Milk chocolates are characters who are hard to hate because of how good natured they act. We see Napoleon take upon himself to teach the children fencing, no one asks of him, but he does it on his record.

Another chance we see this is how he is refused the MC when he needs to drink blood for the first time in his route. In a moment where he could fall ill and possibly die he still pushes her to stay from him to protect herself. Tactics such as protecting someone even when their own life is in danger is common in team milk chocolate.

In addition to protecting their loved one, Napoleon is one to easily build bonds with others. Milk chocolates often find themselves surrounded by others and enjoy company by others. We see how close Napoleon is to the other residents, notably Jean. As Jean is someone who prefers to be alone it’s almost strange to see him with Napoleon who is the opposite of him. Nevertheless, once we see them interact, Napoleon effortlessly entrances Jean and grows closer to him.

A big brother type of energy comes off from Napoleon as well, we see this in his relationship with Issaac. In Issaac’s route Napoleon often comes up to give advice to Issaac and he says what he needs to hear, not what he wants to hear. That aspect is very important as team milk chocolate often gives out advice which is blunt and is usually what needs to be said.

All in all, Napoleon is a classic example of team milk chocolate for his hero-like actions and charisma. However, he still delivers a down to earth trait that makes it easy to enjoy watching him grow. For those of you who enjoy Napoleon, I highly suggest you check out team white chocolate as they are just as fun to read.

My opinions on Ikemen Prince Characters...

Leon

He’s okay. Nothing so much special. Just a milder version of Masamune and more energetic Napoleon. Other than that I don’t find him that much special. Also his route is okay. The ending made me scratch my head a little. That’s all I can say about him.

Yves

Yves is cute. I love how he’s always unlucky. He’s the tsundere character and although I have seen a lot of those type, I still can’t get enough. I think I’m the only one who thinks this way but Yves reminds of Barbie dolls. His blue eyes and blonde hair makes him look like a barbie doll not a prince. Also his room is pink and elegant. Also I love how he always changes from a tsundere to a doting brother when he talks about Licht. He has the most beautiful smile according to me.

Licht

Licht for me is like a robot. When heard Licht’s voice, he sounded like a robot. Also his clothes looks like its made of steel. Like the buttons on his jacket looks like screws for some odd reason. So Licht is the depressed guy of this game. I haven’t played his route because for some reason nothing was encouraging me to play his route. But other than that I like Licht little more than Nokto.

Nokto

The fox of this game. But I’ll be honest, I love Mitsuhide and Tamamo more than this guy if I had to compare fox characters. Nokto is the flirt and polar opposite of his brother. I love Nokto’s voice actor though and that’s the only thing I love about this character. I only played halfway through his route and stopped playing for some reason. I have no idea why I leave the routes halfway, maybe because I find it boring or maybe because I’m not interested on going further because I don’t feel any kind of emotions at all.

Jin

Jin Jin Jin....where do I even start with this one. I’m a person who is obsessed with older men so taking that in mind, I should be liking this character. But that’s not the case. I FREAKING HATE Jin very much. I feel like he’s a showoff. Whenever I see him, I always cringe. He’s like ikesen Shingen’s clone for some reason. But Shingen is funny and always compliments Mai-chan which is also funny. When he says those generic pick up lines I kind of chuckle because they don’t work on Mai-chan because she is from the 21st century. Jin is just AAGHH!! This happens when he talks about boobs and stuff. It just kills my mood when I eagerly progress through the story and suddenly out of nowhere this guy shows up. Also, why doesn’t he button up his shirt? I know it is obviously for fanservice and that’s another reason why I don’t like him. I know he is also the big brother and all, but I don’t want a big brother who talks about boobs and walking shirtless around desperately to look like a daddy. Rather I would like to have a brother who is matured and occasionally spoil me. This makes me think, what makes a man ‘daddy’?

Chevalier

Chevalier, according to me is somewhat of the normal and much more relatable character. I love him because of how intelligent and practical he is. He doesn’t care about how people see him and always works for his country to make it a better place. Cheva’s route was the first one I’ve played till the end, and it was not that bad because he and Clavis was the only thing best about the route. I love how he calls everyone nicknames and also his obsession with romantic novels. I sometimes wonder if I give him novels like Twilight and 50 shades of grey, will he read them too? Also if he is present in this era, will he be watching romantic k-dramas? Who knows? Maybe he will.

Cheva also has the best chemistry with Clavis than any other characters (including Emma), where Clavis is always teasing him and Cheva is like “......”. Cheva is much more better daddy than Jin.

Clavis

I FREAKING LOVE HIM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! According to me, he’s the best thing about this entire game. I’m just waiting for this guy to come home so can slowly take my time and enjoy his story to the fullest. If someone asks me the reason for my liking this guy, I would say ‘IDK.’ Seriously, I have no idea why I like this guy so much and I have also seen other players liking him so much. I only re-installed this game for playing this guy’s route. So cybird, I won’t be telling you to release his route quickly. I want the writers to take their time and come up with a better storyline for him. Don’t ruin him please!!! Because the recent routes were not that great for me. So take your time, and write a good story. I’ll wait as much as you want only for this guy.

Luke

Luke is my 3rd favorite character after Clavis and Cheva, because I think he’s a very good person. He’s the right person to talk to when you’re feeling down. Also his obsession with honey. Hehe....I love that about him. He’s quite unique. I don’t know much about him about he’s the kind of character that I won’t hate no matter what. Such a calming personality.

Sariel

Okay. So is it just me or almost all the male character with glasses in otome games are portrayed as a sadistic devil who likes to punish MC by whipping her ass. Because of how much otome games I have seen and played, these type of characters always has a whip in their hands. Well there are exceptions like Sasuke in ikesen. So since its so common, when I saw Sariel for the first time, I expected him to be the same and I was not wrong. So, I just don’t find anything interesting about him. Just another glasses character to fill the sadistic slot in the game.

Rio

This man is soooooooooooo annoying sometimes. Other times he’s okay. I know he’s Emma friend and always follows her like a little puppy wanting for affection but he’s just so annoying when he starts to talk good things about Emma. He just never shuts up. No matter how many times he is friend-zoned by Emma he never gives up. I feel bad, at the same time annoyed. Whenever he starts praising Emma, I’ll be having the same expression as Sariel and tells him to shut up. That’s all.

Bonus:

Emma (MC)

This list is not complete without Emma of course. Emma is like a boring version of MC from ikevamp. She is portrayed as this kind and innocent young lady with the most purest heart in the entire town. But for me, she is this dumb woman who lives in her own fairytale world and once she started learning the reality, she’s all scared. Sometime she’s bearable but other time she’s just boring. I love brave MCs who fights her fears and stands up on her own, rather than a dull one, who is just there for the sake of romance and fanservice. Seriously she makes some of the routes even more boring to play. Good things about her is just that she’s kind person and that’s all. I wish I could say she is fierce but sadly she’s not. If I get to play very badass MC or MCs who have much more than being kind like a tsundere MC, won’t mind the story even if it’s too blunt. Playing like that would make me happy than being called dumb or stupid by male characters.

Route Summary:

Common Route

One night, MC brings Isaac some late night snacks, and she happens upon a letter while the two of them were putting away books. She hands it over to Isaac and he explains that it was an invitation from a group of students he had helped out earlier. It was for a ritual that supposedly gave people telepathic powers, but Isaac had no intention of going. Aside from it being absurd, he tells MC that he’d hate if people would be able to read his mind, especially if it was her. MC asks why, but he refuses to talk about it. Instead, he kisses her, and when Isaac pulls away, MC asks if they could go out on a date the next day. Isaac yields, in exchange for her spending the night with him.

The next day, after sharing a meal at a cafe in town, MC asked if Isaac really did like apples since he ordered the apple pie, but he strongly denies it, saying that it was just the season’s recommendation and that it was just something Arthur and Dazai liked to tease him with. While walking around town talking, they run into one of the students that gave Isaac the invitation. Isaac urges for him and MC to make a run for it, but MC feels sorry for the kid and asks him to reconsider.

The student catches up to them, insisting they come and even taunting Isaac that maybe he was just afraid, and the kid manages to drag them to the ritual despite Isaac’s protests. By the time the ritual was over, it was already getting dark, and MC and Isaac decide to head back to the mansion. Isaac mutters that they had only wasted their time, and MC assures him that she didn’t mind and that they could always go on another date some other time. Isaac reluctantly relents, still visibly bothered by it, and MC grabs his hand, hoping to make him feel better.

Isaac: The fact that another man held your hand, I can’t stand it.

Isaac: But, if you found out I got jealous over it, you would probably be surprised.

MC hears Isaac’s voice in her mind and assumes it was just Isaac speaking, but when she turns to address him, he’s only confused as to why she’s staring at him. She hears Isaac again, this time saying that he could tell that something was bothering her, and MC realizes that she could hear his thoughts. She immediately lets go of Isaac’s hand and asks him to go back to the mansion without her, saying that she forgot to do something, before running off.

MC tries to look for the students involved in the ritual, but to no avail. She heads back to the mansion and recalls the conversation she had with Isaac about him not wanting his thoughts to be read, and she decides to avoid him until the effect of the ritual wears off in order to respect his privacy.

The following day, MC is hanging up laundry when Isaac approaches her, asking if there was anything bothering her, and she assures him that it wasn’t anything for him to worry about. He helps her with the rest of the laundry before asking if she was free the next day so they could go out again to make up for yesterday. MC reminds herself that she needed to distance herself from Isaac because of the mindreading, so she turns him down and tells him she’ll be busy. He immediately looks disheartened, and feeling guilty, MC promises that they can go on a date as soon as she has free time.

Isaac’s satisfied with that, saying that it’s a promise, and he pauses to look around for a bit. He then grabs MC’s wrist and pulls her in for a quick kiss on the lips, using the newly hung sheets as cover.

Isaac: ...Cute. I love you.

MC gets flustered and makes a run for it, saying that she had more laundry to do, but before she rushed back into the mansion, she stops and tells him that she loves him too. After putting some space between them though, MC decides that she’ll try even harder to avoid Isaac, so she wouldn’t be able to unintentionally read his mind.

Meanwhile, Isaac is sulking in his room since it was obvious something was definitely up with MC and is wondering why she can’t talk to him about it. He decides to give her time though, albeit with some bitterness.

Three days later, MC is finishing up work in the kitchen for the day and has been avoiding Isaac the whole time, even going as far as asking Sebastian to give Isaac his late night snacks while he was studying. As she leaves the kitchen, she spots Isaac crouched down on the floor. Worried, she asks what’s wrong, but Isaac immediately stands up.

“Finally, I got to touch you.”

Sweet End:

When our feelings are conveyed, we once again come to know each other a little better....

“.... My heart, I want you to read it. That way, I can tell you the true extent of how much I love you.”

Isaac grabs her by the wrist, surprising MC, and she asks him what he was doing. He admits that he had been waiting for her to finish work for the day since she had been using it as an excuse to avoid him. At the same, MC could hear what else he was thinking at the moment, and she realizes just how worried Isaac had been. She immediately feels bad and decides it was about time she explained herself.

MC admits that she could read his mind, saying that the ritual had actually worked and she had been waiting for the effects to wear off, and Isaac asks her to get into the details back in his room. There, she explains everything, and Isaac takes everything in stride, to MC’s surprise. He tells her she wouldn’t lie to him about something like that, and is just really relieved that she’s alright.

Isaac’s thoughts come through again, saying that he had been so worried since she looked like she was struggling with something on her own and he couldn’t do anything about it. MC apologizes again, and tells him that since he mentioned he didn’t want people reading his mind, she didn’t want to do anything to make him uncomfortable.

Isaac realizes that she had misunderstood him, and apologizes for not telling her everything. MC is confused, and after hesitating for a moment, Isaac brings up her hand and presses it against his chest, asking her read his mind so she could understand.

Isaac: About you… I love you, that’s what I truly think.

Isaac: If you were able to read my heart, you would be surprised.

Isaac: It’s embarrassing, and I didn’t want you to know my thoughts… I apologize.

Isaac asks if she finally understands, and MC nods. She’s overwhelmed by the sentiment, and the two of them lean in close for a kiss. When they pull away though, MC noticed she didn’t hear what he was thinking, even though they touched. To confirm, she asks Isaac what he was thinking just then, and she realized she couldn’t read his mind anymore. She lets Isaac know, and the both of them wonder if it was the ritual’s effect finally wearing off.

MC has another theory though, that maybe the ability wasn’t necessary anymore since Isaac was finally able to relay his feelings to her clearly. Isaac seems to agree, and he pulls her close, asking for another kiss. MC conceded, and even though she couldn’t read Isaac’s mind anymore, the warmth Isaac shared with her was more than enough to convey his feelings for her.

The next day, Isaac and MC went back to town to try and meet up with the student that had invited them to the ritual so they could let him know what had happened. They head back to the cafe where Isaac first met the student and ask the owners if they recall seeing the kid he had been talking to last week. To his surprise, the owners say there wasn’t any kid, and that even back then, they had just assumed Isaac was talking to himself. Isaac pales and the owner suggests that maybe he had been talking to a ghost all this time.

Isaac and MC leave the cafe and try to process what they had just been told. MC takes it in stride, accepting that since she had been able to read someone’s mind not too long ago, then the possibility of ghosts wasn’t too far off. Isaac, on the other hand, is noticeably unsettled by it, and MC asks if Isaac was really afraid of ghosts.

Isaac denies it, but it was clear to MC that he was lying, and she couldn’t help but giggle. He asks what she’s laughing about, and she tells him that something just crossed her mind now that she couldn’t hear his thoughts. She realizes that even though she had lost that ability, she could still learn something new about Isaac, and was happy to be able to do so, even with his contrarian personality.

His truest thoughts, delivered directly from his heart to yours....

“It’s pointless. I can’t stand it anymore. Give your everything... to me.”

Isaac pulls her into a hug, and MC can hear his thoughts and realizes he’s been waiting for her. He then pulls away from MC, but doesn’t let her go, and asks her why she’s been avoiding him.

Isaac: Saying that there was nothing wrong, and then avoiding me…

Isaac: I, I wonder if you think I’m so unreliable that you can’t turn to me for help.

MC immediately feels very guilty and tells Isaac she’ll explain herself in a bit. The two of them move to the gazebo in the garden, and there she tells him about how the ritual had worked on her and how she could read his mind whenever she touched him. As proof, she held one of his hands and, hearing that he was relieved it wasn’t anything that harmed her, responded to his thoughts out loud.

MC apologizes for worrying him, and although Isaac reassures her he’s not mad, he asks why she didn’t think it was something she could tell him. She explains it was because of the conversation they had a few days ago about mindreading and his privacy, and since she knew that the effect of the ritual would wear off eventually, she just opted to avoid him instead of making a fuss. Isaac realizes that he did say something like that, but it wasn’t because of the reason MC thought.

She asks him what he means, and Isaac hesitates for a moment before holding MC’s hands and pressing his forehead against hers. MC’s confused as to what he’s trying to do, but he tells her to go ahead and read his mind since he’s too embarrassed to say the words out loud.

Isaac: I’m afraid of disappointing you...

Isaac: It’s a trivial thing, but in reality, I’m terribly afraid of letting you down.

Isaac: I didn’t want you looking into my heart, because in front of you, I want to be seen as a reliable man.

MC blushes and Isaac asks if she got everything. She nods and tells him he didn’t have to think like that, and he tells her that even if she was fine with him being like that, he himself wasn’t. He admits that he wants MC to love him even more, so he tries to hide that side of him as much as possible, and MC asks just how much love he wants since she was willing to give it.

Isaac blushes, and MC can hear him call her cute in his thoughts. He then admits that he’s a bit mad at her for making him worry like that. MC apologizes, but Isaac just smirks and asks her to give him compensation over the last few days of worry she caused. She tells him it was sly of him to say that, but when she reached out to touch his cheek, she can hear him think of just how much he loved her.

MC is touched and blushes at the sentiment, and Isaac admits that since he’s not good with words, he’ll let her read his mind for now. She kisses him on the lips and points out that she probably loves him more than he thinks. She then kisses his cheek and thinks to herself that even if Isaac can’t read her mind, she still wants to convey her feelings for him. She smiles up at him as she gently pushes his hair away from his face and finds him looking conflicted.

Isaac grumbles that even though he had planned on teasing her as payback for the last few days, he can’t take it anymore and just wants to hold her. At the same time, MC can hear him think of just how much he wants her at that very moment. He then picks her up bridal style, surprising MC, and she asks where they’re going.

“To bed… Didn’t you hear what I was thinking? Tonight, you won’t be getting away from me easily.”

Okay are we not going to talk about Ray’s Secret end? Because goddamn that sucker punched me right in the freaking gut.

Like when he said in the flashback that he didn’t deserve to be celebrated? Or that he didn’t deserve happiness? My heart bled for him.

It’s definitely implied that one reason he wanted to become King was because he felt guilty over what happened on that day. But what I hadn’t realized was just how much it ran inside him, to the point that he didn’t want to be celebrated on his birthday. And I don't think it's an aversion kind, like a “I don’t like surprises or parties” kind. It’s more of that he doesn’t think he’s worthy because of what he had done--that a person like him shouldn't be celebrated because of the pain and hurt he caused, which results with him pushing away at the potential to be truly happy. Kind of like, "I'm a bad person for doing this bad thing and bad people don't deserve to be happy." It definitely adds a new perspective as to why he's adamant about Alice returning to London in his route. Not only would it keep her safe from the fighting and from falling into Amon’s hands, but he’s realized by this point that he’s completely in love with her but he doubts his worthiness of receiving her feelings.

And he’s not just saying that he isn’t worthy of happiness, but he’s also thought about how his life, his existence, was not worth celebrating. Maybe if he wasn’t born, maybe it wouldn’t happen and wouldn’t cause so much pain and hurt. It wouldn’t be surprising if people did blame him back then, especially since being a magic user was such a taboo thing to them and that they didn’t understand it. It feels like a good chunk of it had eventually become self-blame and his destiny is partially a road of atonement. But he couldn't let them see him mope around and get depressed about it (as he said, no one would trust a King like that) and so instead he used it to fuel his drive and strength. And it must have been so difficult, having to bear that responsibility on himself while working hard to become a reliable and trustworthy King at such a young age.

But seeing the Sweet end and the other story events, I don't think that the people of Cradle hate him or hold a grudge over him for that incident. They love and appreciate him for what he’s done for them since he became King, which tells me that if ever they had blamed him, they had already forgiven him. But it seems that Ray himself hasn’t fully forgiven himself for it yet.

It always amazes me how Ray could still be so soft and kind, to not be consumed by the guilt and pain of what happened. But I suppose that's exactly why--he knows what it's like and doesn't want anyone else to feel that way so he does his best to be kind as much as possible. But he's so hard on himself that he forgets to be kind towards the one person who needs it the most--himself. And I wouldn't be surprised if the other officers picked up on this. Military obligation aside, I feel that it's one of the many reasons why they’ve decided to give him their full support in anything, more so when it comes to their duties of protecting the people. So it makes sense why they go all out on his birthday, to make him as happy as he can be on the one day that he should rightfully be celebrated. To fill that day with all the love and kindness that he does deserve. And now with Alice in the picture, they can make those celebrations even better and meaningful.

And we can already see that change happen by the end--he’s come to realize that he can and deserves to be happy. He doesn’t have to question whether or not he’s worthy of it because the people around him make him feel worthy with their love and kindness, which in turns make him gradually believe that he is worthy. And maybe he’s finally forgiven himself for the unfortunate circumstance that happened years ago. Maybe this time he can finally have the strength to let himself heal.

I definitely think that Cybird has done an excellent job in writing this birthday story. It’s definitely given me new perspective about Ray and just makes me love him even more as a character. I know a lot of people sort of gloss over him, either because they aren’t interested in him personality wise (he’s goddamn gorgeous okay, shuddup) or he’s too high up there to be reached by players who don’t want to spend that much on events (he’s almost always the top prize, aka the most costly). And that’s completely fine, to each their own. But I just really, really, really love him and I hope this essay aka rant aka excuse for me to yell about just how much I love him would make you appreciate him a little better.
