He doesnât ask questions. Sakusa doesnât ask why you moved here so young ; he doesnât ask why Osamu was so quick to hire you with pitying eyes. He doesnât ask why you stare at the stars longingly ; he doesnât ask why Atsumu is tender and gentle when youâre around.
And he really doesnât ask why he always finds you here ; drunk and incapable of doing anything other than sob.
âMy water heater is broken,â youâre crying to the bartender. Suna sees Sakusa and relief floods through him â crying, he can not deal with. Your bottom lip wobbles with another wail, âif thereâs a god, theyâre against me! There are so many in Greek history, how can they all hate me?â
Blubbering, garbled words escape as you let out a whine and flop your head down on the bar. Sakusa sighs â thatâs his queue to get you home. Cold hands nudge against your shoulder as you jolt, suddenly alert with the touch. When your eyes meet his, you soften, lips pouting even further.
ââKusa,â you cry. He sighs again and prepares himself for the way youâre going to drape over him. You do just as he thought ; just as you always do. âWhy? Why do I still miss him? Why canât I stop crying?â
âYouâre drunk,â he answers simply. These questions arenât new â you ask them every time he takes you home. And his answer is always the same. âYour emotions are heightened by the alcohol. Are you ready to go home or do you want to go somewhere else?â
You sniffle into his shoulder â Sakusa cringes but sucks it up. âMiya,â you mumble, âwanna see my Miyaâs.â
They do always make you feel better, the twins. Their dynamic reminds you of two old friends ; the bickering pair reminds you of two others and suddenly youâre frowning again. You whine into Sakusaâs neck, âwhy canât I let you in?â
Thatâs something new, Sakusa thinks with wide eyes. His mouth parts under his mask at the question. Instead of answering, he slides you higher up his body, cradling you awkwardly. âLetâs go find your Miyaâs, hm?â
As soon as Atsumu is in your sights, your arms are slung around his neck. Heâs giggling into the top of your head, squeezing you as you sway side to side. Youâre blabbering again, but he answers every word enthusiastically. Osamu shuts the door to his restaurant, leaning against a table as joins Sakusa to watch over the two of you.
âBad day, huh?â
Sakusa sighs, exhaustion laced in the sound. He rubs the curve of his nose with closed eyes before nodding. âItâs been a while since theyâve been this drunk.â
As Osamu goes to answer, your phone vibrates in Sakusaâs pocket. He had to keep it for you, you said. âHave no pockets or grippy fingers, âKusa! Iâll lose it!â Against his own thoughts, he smiles as he remembers the tone of your voice. Another vibration and heâs pulling your phone out before he can think.

thinkin of u today sweetheart
n missin u always
âŠiâll tell him you said hi
call me later, hm?
Sakusa tilts his head before pocketing your phone again. So you had been drinking more today â he didnât think this was as usual for you. Before he can speak, arms are thrown around his waist and youâre crying again. With a sigh, Sakusa meets Atusmuâs wasnât me! gaze before drifting down to meet your teary-eyed one.
âTheyâre liars,â you sniff. Youâre staring right at Osamu now and itâs a little unnerving but he allows you to â you arenât looking at him, not really. Youâre so spaced out and in your head that Sakusa doesnât think you know where you are anymore. âThose dumb brothers. It doesnât get better ; it hasnât and it wonât.â
Sakusa is gentle as he rubs a hand down your back. âIt might.â
âIt wonât,â you argue. Your bottom lip trembles and you bite it hastily. âIt never will. Iâll miss him forever and theyâll go on with life and forget about him. I canât ; I wonât.â A deep breath and then youâre snuggling your face into his chest. âI donât think I want to stop hurting. Reminds me of him.â
âKiyoomi,â he finds himself saying. Anything to get your focus back ; anything to get you to stop crying. âYou never call me Kiyoomi.â
Your sniffling stops abruptly as you pull away from his chest with a frown. âDidnât think you wanted me to! Are we close enough for that?â
âI pick you up from Sunaâs bar weekly,â thereâs the ghost of a smirk on his lips as he peers at you. âThink weâre close enough.â
ââKay,â you snuggle into his chest again with a yawn. Osamu is watching the two of you fondly as Atsumu takes a picture of your cuddling figure. âKiyoomi. Thanks for takinâ care of me all the time, âyoomi. Sorry Iâm so drunk and a crybaby.â
Kiyoomi stays silent as you nod off, the alcohol in your veins simmering and lulling you to sleep. He shakes his head with one thought â Iâm screwed.
