One of the first ways I learned that there’d been Some Announcement about CR a couple weeks (? amount of time-s) ago was because my post about the cast never asking for insight checks properly started going around again

Every so often someone tags it with stories about their own RPG group’s total ignored of technical rules and it is always great

I don’t have an actual bingo card for this episode but 1. consistently love the concept and 2. if I did I’d definitely keep “INSIGHT CHECK” in one of the corners

Just a couple of little petty, salty things that annoyed me in The Mighty Nein Reunited - because I’m a petty, salty bitch at heart.

1. You’re trying to tell me that Yeza Brenatto - someone who’s an alchemist by trade in a world where adventurers are constantly looking for healing potions, someone who went to an alchemist’s shop in Rosohna and spent the entire time telling his wife (only just barely under his breath) how poorly made the potions there were and how several of the products were not what they were advertised to be, someone who was hired by the fucking Cerberus Assembly to distill dunamis into a potion and succeeded -

You’re telling me that the new shop that he opened up needed 3 separate “grand openings” because no-one was showing up? In a huge port city in a world where there are adventurers who need potions all the damn time? You’re telling me that he’s a fucking snake essential oil salesman?! I think the FUCK not.

2. To be fair, this isn’t specific to TM9R, but I think that makes it more annoying to me:

Fjord Stone.

It just... he’s never used his last name. He’s never associated himself with it. It came up a grand total of once in 141 episodes, and not until episode 91 at that. When it does finally come up, he says “ When you're at an orphanage, they give you a, they give you a shit last name. Mine was Stone.” and “I never used it because it's not, it's not my name, it was just given to me--” and “I always wondered what my, who my parents were and what my real name might be. I never cared for that name, so--” (these are all episode 91, starting at around 1hr50m).

And, of course, this tweet from Travis:

I viewed Fjord’s last name the same way I viewed Vax and Vex’s last name: not really theirs, something that was forced on them that they don’t associate with, and if anybody in fandom refers to them with their “full” name I immediately don’t really trust them.

And then, all of a sudden, we get the Fjord Stone dice set, and The Mighty Nein Origins: Fjord Stone, and it’s the name that he names his company and future after, and it feels...so weird. And I know that some people have talked about him “reclaiming” his name and making it his own, but he doesn’t need to? He never used that name, it was never his, and it’s not as if it had any sort of legacy or weight associated with it - not to mention that it doesn’t explain the recent merch using the name.

Actually, I just went to check the CritRole shop, and I swear I remember older Fjord merch just being labelled as “Fjord”, but now all of it is labelled as “Fjord Stone”. Did they retroactively add his surname to all of the merch? Because that just reinforces my belief that they’re using the surname so much now, because they can’t trademark “Fjord” (because that’s just an ordinary word)... but they can trademark “Fjord Stone”.

ok to be fair to be fair…. as far as I remember caduceus didn’t enjoy the ocean one bit and it seems like they’re gonna be going after uk’otoa. my immediate headcanon is cad got a message from jester like “heyyyy we’re going to defeat fjord’s snake god thing once and for all do you want to come~” and caduceus was like oh jester. I miss you guys but that sounds like a lot and i’m not sure it’s worth spending another two weeks with my fur never fully dry.. say hello to the coral for me though..
