@studio_yukiko @hkw_berlin Over the next five years HKW will work with artists, scholars, activists and communities to develop a new conceptual line that has plurality as its core, present in its programming, staff, exhibitions and wider discourse and practice. We are chuffed to be part of this journey. We created a logo shaped on the institution’s values for the future, while at the same time resting on local roots. The new logo has become a living, transitory, organic entity – shaping and shifting to embody HKW as a place of many stories and many histories, evolving through the people and knowledges that traverse the house. With its organic twists it also references not only the shape of the building’s roof and the vast biodiversity of Berlin's wild Tiegarten-Park, where it is located. Deconstructing the western letter forms through its fluidity, the logo becomes recognisable for what it stands for rather than for the letters that make it up, moving beyond the dominance of written knowledge and colonial languages. And since the HKW is a place for participation and exchange, the logo is also an opportunity for co-creation: it can be formed and re-formed by collaborators, audiences and artists using sounds, gestures and even facial expressions. Boundaries are shifted, bases are distorted and in this ever-changing semblance a new shape emerges from counter-forms within. Just as the overlapping of voices and languages in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt collectively resonate the new paths of the institution, so does our new identity for it exist only in the intersection and association of its forms. Berlim, a cidade onde o verde pintou o muro, como disse Inácio de Loyola Brandão em seu livro, ao descrever a sua verdadeira obsessão pela preservação do meio ambiente.

A cidade dos envergonhados e arrependidos alemães, que vivem para purgar os pecados do passado.

A cidade do muro que a dividiu entre os "bons e os maus", hoje a une, embora seja impossível não notar a diferença entre uma e outra.

A ilha dos museus, a grande avenida que corta a cidade e passa pelo Portão de Brandemburgo, pelo Tiegarten e alcança a Coluna da Vitória.

Lá onde se pode visitar o Museu do Holocausto de nefastas imagens, mas onde também se pode ver preservados pedaços do tal muro da vergonha e o Checkpoint Charlie, para que nunca sejam esquecidos.

A cidade de uma das mais belas catedrais do mundo, do rio de onde se pode ter uma outra visão da vida nessa grande metrópole grafitada.

A cidade da arte urbana por excelência e das baladas do underground, dos bairros periféricos revitalizados, da Alexanderplatz do icônico filme, das milhões de bicicletas, sobre as quais jovens e velhos por ela passeiam simpáticos, gentis e civilizados.

Me lembro das frondosas tílias que enfeitavam o canteiro central da avenida em Berlim.

Passamos caminhando por ela indo em direção ao Portão de Brandenburgo, ( que eu julgava maior), atravessando o gigantesco parque Tiegarten e alcançando a Coluna da Vitória, aquele monumento enorme que tem em seu topo a estátua dourada que parece ter acabado de ser polida.

Berlim, uma cidade marcada para sempre na minha memória, como tantas outras, que tão fortemente me causam um turbilhão de emoções.

Li a palavra tília em algum lugar.
