Okay so like. I love these birds. All of them have a name. When I get a new one, they spend time close to me so I can give them a name (and so I don't forget to name them, which has happened). Sometimes I'll consult google for names, and I'll pop in something like, "name that means gift giver," or, "names meaning flame." (Resulting in Pandora and Amber - Amber being an easier to remember version of Pyrrha, Pandora's daughter.) Sometimes, like in the case of the bird below, I'll have a harder time with this kind of thing. Because with this guy:
Tumblr media
I want to type into google, "names of a side character from a british tv show that you see once or twice but he's charming and you think about him for a couple days especially once you find out he's played by a gay man." But I can't, because google has no idea what the hell I'm talking about.
... So uh... do y'all have any suggestions?
Update: his name is Simon :3

Kiri seems like the kinda guy who watches makeup tutorials on youtube just because he thinks it's neat so when he gets a s/o he's always like sitting off to the side just watching you do your makeup <3 it's just mesmerizing to him. Even when he's not physically there if he knows you're about to do your makeup he's asking you to facetime him so he can watch 🥺 and he gasses you up the entire time
I'm in love with him
NOOO because he really is, probably does the thing where he stands behind you and watches your screen from over your shoulder, and when you ask if he wants to sit down and watch with you, he’s like “I’m not watching, I’m just looking...” but even then, he still doesn’t move...
And so when you’re actually doing your makeup, he gets even worse, since this time, he’s actually able to talk to you about what you’re doing. You’ve barely put on your concealer and already he’s like, “Okay, this is baking?” and all you can do is laugh and roll your eyes... but it’s so sweet because he is genuinely interested (as if you don’t spend enough time listening to his talk about, I don’t know, Crimson Riot or some obscure football team)...
Anyway, he gets all up in your face, and keeps pointing to things being all, “I like that one, babes...” even on facetime, too, asking you to hold up what you’re using... and if you offer to put some highlighter on him too, even just pretend to brush the screen, he’s sticking out his cheek and turning as red as his hair.
(Please do not take him to Sephora... he wanders off and starts picking things out for you... comes back with two palettes, a glitter gel, and four different serums... or you find him having a 10 minute long conversation with one of the cute staff members about what would look good on you, showing them the picture of you on his lock screen and everything... King.)
OMG and listen, I’m melting thinking about Kiri asking you to do HIS makeup... like he knows your shades probably don’t match... but with his newly acquired knowledge of makeup, he’s goes to Walgreens and just buys his own (which still doesn’t fit him very well, but hey, he tried his best)...
So, of course, you very-kindly beat his face... and he ends up sending pictures to the Bakusquad of him in a pair of your cheapest lashes thinking he’s fancy and everything...
(Denki makes it his contact photo...)
And lmfao, after that, Kiri begs to return the favor and do your makeup, too... except that he doesn’t hold the brushes properly and you don’t end up looking as nice. Nonetheless, he loves and adores the results... and sends pictures of that to the Bakusquad, too... to which Bakugo makes that your contact information and you end up swearing to break his phone forever. Kiri, however, is delighted.
And yes, if you’re wondering, I am crying.

ELENA.....YOU'RE HAVING A BAD HAIR DAY
The Count Carl von Cosel / Elena Milagro Hoyos tale is a story following Elena’s death in the 1930s. The Count was a Key West U.S. Marine  Hospital staff member. Elena a patient.
The Count loved Elena.
Elena died. Tuberculosis.
Two years later, the Count removed her body from its tomb and relocated it to his home. There she remained for several years in his bed. He cared for her. Did his best to keep her decomposing body attractive.
The title of today’s blog a tongue in cheek one: ELENA, YOU’RE HAVING A BAD HAIR DAY.
The Studios of Key West is presenting a musical based on the love story. March 2 and 3.
Should be interesting.
Spent my yesterday in the hospital. Liz had hip replacement surgery in the morning. The day spent helping her through the anesthesia withdrawal. Seemed to take forever. Not easy for her.
I was exhausted when I returned home in the evening. To bed and sleep immediately.
Syracuse/Miami at noon on ESPN. Miami a 2.5 point favorite.
I spent some time this morning talking to various hospital personnel. I want to watch the game and be with Liz at the same time. The hospital personnel probably thought I was nuts. I wanted to know if the TV sets in the rooms carried ESPN.
No one knew.
Sons and Daughters of Italy meeting tonight. Should be interesting and fun. I am in the mood to imbibe a bit.
Walgreens. Today a Walgreens in Key West. Part of one of the largest drug chains in the U.S. In the year 2017.
Charles R. Walgreen was the owner of the drug chain bearing his name in 1938. He visited Key West on this date on his 98 foot yacht Virago.
Drug stores obviously big business even back in the depression days of 1938!
An important day in Russian history! An important day in world history! The Russian Revolution began this date in 1917. People hungry. Wanted bread.
Ninety thousand demonstrators hit the streets in Petrograd. One week later, Czar Nicholas II abdicated.
A communist nation around the corner.
Many books written. Movies, also. Two of the best War and Peace and Dr. Zhivago.
The Wall St. Journal made comment in a Monday story which made me feel we sometime live in a banana republic. The column stated: “The conservative media outlet Breitbart published an article Friday based on the allegations of a right-wing radio host that intelligence agencies were conducting a ‘silent coup’ against Mr. Trump.”
Crazies in and out of the Trump White House.
Enjoy your day!
