i'm glad the technocat is doing numbers. i've been ridden with nostalgia the past weeks for the 00s. patagonian 00s not whatever the 00s meant for the global north. my parents were computer techincians so my house was filled with old hardware, dusty cables, programming manuals printed single-sided (i drew in the blank), and my mom would go out once in a while to get me new games (on pirated cds, and half of them didn't work). most of my primary school classmates didn't even know what a computer was (eso cambió gracias a conectar igualdad ✌)
the crisis and living in such a remote place meant new things would never come and you wouldn't even find out, i got my first flat-ish pc screen in 2009 and kept using it until last year lol, i used an mp3 until 2014. i remember the fanciest phone you could get was a blackberry. i remember when smartphones appeared and literally ruined everything and the divide between internet and real life disappeared. sorry i'm gonna go grab my cane now
#thanks to neopets i found out digital art existed so i spent my days drawing in paint for random strangers#like sometimes i think about how having access to technology nobody else had changed my life. i wouldn't even be an artist#only nowadays kids grow up with the kind of access i had#i was there turning on digital art in school for assigments and everybody was amazed hahahah it's kinda embarrassing#(sisi seguro hay 50 porteños aca que tuvieron cibers y todo eso no me interesa prueben a haber nacido en una de las provincias menos poblad

Well! A nice thing has happened!
As I have mentioned, this is the year that my friends and I are all turning 40 (hs class of 2001, if you will.) A few months ago, my friend's husband messaged a group of us seeing if we would come to Miami for our friend's birthday in January. This is the same group that is going on a girls trip in May, and the general idea was that they couldn't do two trips so we were just goign to do the girls trip. Which, ok. But I felt sad! Bc this is my closest friend and I want to go to Miami!
And it was a secret and bc I wasn't going I really did not know what was happening for her birthday and she kept ASKING ME and I felt really weird!
And then last night she was like, OK WELL GOOD NEWS-- I got very stressed out and made charlie tell me what was happening for my birthday and then slightly bad news Emily can't come but in really good news I want you to come if you still want to come!!
And I was like, OK YES I DO WANT TO COME!!! And then I had to find a ticket to Miami in January and do you know how much that costs??? (everything else is covered but you have to get there yourself) and then I was like, WAIT I am always lamenting that we can't use our miles bc we don't have enough for a family trip so I ticked Book With Miles and I basically get to go for free now! HA!
And I feel weird about it for some reason, like I'm a consolation? Even though I was the first person invited! And didn't really want to turn it down but sometimes I am weak. Anyway! It all worked out! I am excited to go celebrate my friend in Miami!
