young icemav hate sex fic YES I say, happy with all your ideas :DDD are you working on anything else at the moment? can you tell me more about your headcanons for the moment where Ice shows up at Mav's door and gives the big speech like you wrote in " you know that i caught it bad, boy"? Most romantic stuff I've read in years, honestly
Haha, thank you! Honestly, I could work on a lot of different stuff, I've gotten some great prompts and people seem really interested in more Kazansky sibling stuff which I love so I might write Sarah and Maverick's first proper introduction. I also have a Very angsty fic of Maverick getting the call that Ice has been shot down and the time in between that and hearing he's been rescued, and a bunch of sweet domestic ideas rattling around in my brain, courtesy of my wonderful gf @nb-fearne!
But yes another thing I could write is that scene which I would Love to elaborate on.
So after the Handshake and Hug to end all handshakes and hugs, Ice is back with his squadron and Maverick takes up an instructor position at Top Gun and yeah, they were fucking all through their training and they absolutely boned hard after that dogfight but after that they kind of aren't sure what to do? They're both in love with each other (Ice fell in love at the teeth snap, Maverick fell in love when Ice buzzed the tower with him) but they both know an actual relationship with each other will be so difficult and both assume the other doesn't want to risk their career on it.
So they have a very strange stage where Ice calls Maverick whenever he can, so often that everyone in the squadron assumes Iceman finally has a girl back home, Mav waking up with nightmares about Ice in danger, both of them totally miserable without the other and frustrated with the distance. But Mav feels like he can't ask Ice to give up the job he loves to roll the dice with him so he stays quiet.
Until Ice has a narrow escape, he gets away clean but he's shaken. Because in what he thought were his last moments, all he could think about was how his whole life would be a goddamn waste if he didn't spend it loving Pete Mitchell, however he can. And Slider knows it so he goes up to him after like 'look, for once in your life, just embrace the messiness and just fuck around and find out'. So Ice does, he's a hero again so they offer him any post and he chooses Miramar and he chooses Maverick.
Except he doesn't tell Maverick until he's there on his doorstep because the turnaround is fast and every time he thinks of calling Mav to tell him, he panics because oh god this is big. But now he's here knocking on his door and its way too early and oh god he's answering wearing boxers and a sweater that absolutely belonged to Ice and he'd been wondering where it ended up. And Mav says his name so soft and so happy like the whole world makes sense again just because he's standing there. And it just all comes pouring out, Ice saying he's so scared and he knows this is going to be hard but fuck, Mav is worth it, he loves him so much he's actually going to ask the universe if he can be happy and fight for what he wants. He wants them to be instructors together, he wants them to be in the same place and enjoy it and actually have a proper relationship
And Mav just drags him in by the shirt, slams the door and kisses him so hard, which of course means Ice is always joking for the next thirty years that Maverick never actually agreed to be his boyfriend?

Hii, saengak ❤️ If possible, wrt the ‘get to know your writer’ prompt! Could we do 74? [after reading your Naruto fics and then ofc, FSHOTS 🥹🫶🏼, I’m so curious to know whether you feel like there’s recurring themes/styles in your writing… ‘cause I really couldn’t seem to find any (other than the fact that I absolutely loved everything you wrote 🫠🌹)] Also, I’m dying to know 76 as well, for FSHOTS, ‘cause the universe you’ve so masterfully created is just so inherently dark that I often wondered whether it was tough to stay on track and not be led astray, down scarier roads…
Hiiii eclairfair ❤️ awww thank you so much for the lovely ask and sorry for taking so long to get to it ❤️
74. You've posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you'd written it?
It would be extremely gay. And angsty. It's the pining and devotion that gets me 👌 hahahhahaa
I like to put characters in situations where, even though they are good people and will in the end be nothing less than devoted to each other, they hurt each other either through circumstance, accident or mistake. Case in point: FSHOS and your fingerprints on my skin, my two IceMav fics. I also like arranged marriage AUs, slave AUs, etc. though I don't think I've published any yet.
Or, the blorbos would find each other in dire circumstances and fall in love gradually from the intimacy of relying on each for survival. Example: the ruins of our lives.
As for style (oh god, I'm exposing myself here AHHAAH):
em dash: I love them. So Much. One thing I like to do is to end a line of dialogue with it when a character gets interrupted mid-sentence.
dramatic one liners: I need to ration myself or I'll do it all the time.
comma splices: it's not grammatical but I like it. I probably use them more than I should but I try to be mindful of how I use it and how it affects the rhythm my writing.
use of names: you know that "the taller man" / "the aviator" / "the older man" thing people like complaining about in fanfics? Unless the descriptions are relevant to what's happening, I try to avoid those descriptions and just use their names instead. It does pose another problem though: overuse of names. I'm still figuring out how to balance it hahahah!
switching POVs: I try to ration out time to explore each side of the ship's thoughts
So there it is. Guide to identifying (recent) saengak fics 😂
76. Did you have any ideas that didn't make the final cut of FSHOS?
(Spoiler alert for FSHOS in case anyone else is reading this.)
Here's a scarier road that branched off from Chapter 22: David makes Mav disappear. He finds the transfer form with the buyer signature still blank and just... kidnaps him. Gets a few goons and stuffs Mav kicking and screaming into the trunk.
By the time Ice finds out, it's because someone has filed the paperwork to pull Mav out of the Navy. David has handed Mav off to a third party and Mav is already on his way out of the country.
(Spoiler alert for this potential fic... I don't think I'll manage to write it but just wanted to warn.)
Ice is on the WARPATH. He knows his father is behind this but he just can't find Mav anywhere and can't pry his location out from between his father's lying teeth, so he makes good on his promise and drags the Kazansky name through an all-out shit show of a campaign to take down omega trafficking. Maybe Ice's mom's alpha helps cause she's a banging lawyer.
Legally speaking, Ice is in an absolutely terrible position but it is an unprecedented case that opens up to a lot omega rights arguments. The media eats up the drama and there are investigations, protests, etc... and the omega rights lawyers/activist all flock him wanting to make this The Case to overturn omega laws.
They are in and out of court all day every day. There are TIME magazine articles: WHERE IS MAVERICK? reads the heading, with a grainy, candid picture of Mav in his Navy uniform. The Washington Post has a picture of Ice walking down the steps of the courthouse with dark circles and a glare, and David is somewhere further behind him, stepping through the courthouse doors with his face shielded: KAZANSKY V. KAZANSKY - the generational chasm.
Ice can't look at the news without feeling like throwing up but he knows how to play the game and he plays it well.
I have some thoughts on how Ice would win: national security concerns for one, to void all omega sale contracts out of the country, cause Mav is privy to Navy secrets. Undue duress of some sort is another option to void the transfer form. Finally, if omegas rights are granted, all omega contracts could be voided!!
That's all and good, but we still have one problem: seriously, where is Mav? It's no use winning in court and winning omega rights if he can't get Maverick back safe???
*turns back the clock*
Ice knew this from the start. He had hoped that dragging the Kazansky name through the mud would force his father to capitulate and hand Mav back, but he knows that (i) he could fail, (ii) it would take a long time even if he succeeded, and (iii) it means nothing if Mav is gone.
So he sends his best friend, Slider, on a mission.
Slider has his rifle ready. He has a fast car. "I'll get him back Ice. I promise," he growls. So off our best boy Slider goes, zooming off and sniffing the ground like a bloodhound to track down their precious Mav.
(Meanwhile Mav is rattling the bars of his cage, biting shitty alphas, gnawing through ropes and escaping into the wilderness.)
Slider finds him dehydrated and sunburnt on the border but he's safe. He's safe!
Omega rights: won. Mav: back home. Slider: extremely relieved and proud. Ice: weepy mess ❤️
❤️The end❤️
Even though I thought out this whole AU, I didn't go down this path because (1) I had already thought out the protest and the "canon" fic ending, and (2) I wanted Mav to be in a mentally healthier / more stable state when he re-started his relationship with Ice.
In contrast, the scarier Ch22 AU would give Mav a hugeeee amount of trauma (Ice too) and would probably end up with Ice being extremely protective and Mav accepting it, for stability's sake, while they heal together.
Again, thank you for this great ask!!! ❤️❤️🌻

Which Fics?
Which Fics?
I was tagged by @icemankazansky to dig back into my archives and go down memory lane. Thank you, Carly, for the opportunity :)
Which of your fics…
…did you think would get a bigger reaction/audience than it got?
I think the one that I had hoped would get a better reaction was and they call it (puppy) love. It was the last story I wrote for the Top Gun fandom and I was super proud of it, but it didn’t go over as well as I thought it would, so it discouraged me a bit from writing more of it. I have other parts planned for it, but I just haven’t gotten around to writing more.
…got a better reaction than you expected?
Oh my, definitely my last series--shades of healing. Cobra Kai/Karate Kid is such a small fandom at the moment and I was honestly completely blown away by the response to the first story, completely shocked that people cared enough for a sequel and I’m even more surprised that people wanted a third installment, which I just posted. To date, the entire series has over 4,000 views, 496 kudos and over 120 comments. And counting.
Another one is one I wrote, years ago, for Marvel Fandom called Five Times Tony Stark Was a Good Dad (And One Time He Wasn’t). I think to this day, that one has over 50,000 reads between here and Ao3. The response to that one also blew me out of the water and one day, I’ll go back and actually finish finish that one.
... is your funniest?
My funniest has to be either, nothing compares to you (nothing, nothing) or you’re trying hard not to show it, but baby, i know it. Both were written for the Top Gun fandom and I had such a fun time writing that both of them and they both came so easily to me and I actually have follow up planned for nothing compares that I’ve been working on in between my Cobra Kai/Karate Kid fics and I hope to have it posted soon. I miss writing IceMav so much, but LawRusso won’t leave me alone, man.
…is your darkest or angstiest?
Um, I don’t really write angst, I’ve never been good at it, but my most angsty is a toss up between steal me all the way from myself, which was written for Top Gun or I’ve Been Told I’m Nothing, But With You  Maybe I Could Be Something, which was written for the Breakfast Club fandom and that one is digging deep into the archives, man.
…is your absolute favorite?
All my stories have a special place in my heart--even the really shitty ones that are (hopefully) buried far into the depths of the internet. They’ve all helped me grown as a writer and as a person.
If I had to pick a favorite, again, it would have to be my shades of healing series I started for Cobra Kai/Karate Kid and part of that is just the dedicated fandom. I’ve been a part of many fandoms, but this one is by far my favorite and tied very close to the Top Gun fandom in my heart.
…is your least favorite?
Probably any of the really shitty imagines I wrote for the 5sos fandom like, six, seven years ago before I got into writing fanfiction.
…was the easiest to write?
If writing was easy, everyone would do it. However, some fics do come more naturally than others, but that doesn’t mean they don’t come with their own struggles and headaches.
…was hardest to write?
See answer above.
…has your favorite lines/exchange/paragraph? (share it!)
I honestly...don’t know? I have bits a pieces of dialogue that I like, descriptions, but I’m not really sure if there’s one that’s like, ‘yes, this one is top tier’.
Is that bad?
I’m also indecisive, so it would take me literal days to answer this question.
…have you reread the most?
If I’m being completely honest, I go back an reread all my fics once I’ve posted them. Maybe that’s a bit conceited but I love getting to read them from the readers perspective. Also because many of the fandoms I write for don’t have a lot of stories, so if I want a fix, I either read my favorite stories or my own.
…would you recommend to someone reading your work for the first time?
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think the one that showcases some of best work is my newest Cobra Kai series or if you’re into some serious smutty goodness, my second foray into the Top Gun fandom, which was a prompt that spanned a five (possible sixth chapter coming) chapter story for IceMav called the further on the edge, the hotter the intensity. It was given to me by the lovely Carly aka @icemankazansky on here aka thecarlysutra on ao3. She also helped me IMMENSELY during the writing process and was even super sweet enough to go through and beta read for me (I’m a wordy writer so she was a literal saint for doing that for me). So even though I’ve said it a million times, thank you again for being you, Carly :)
…are you most proud of?
Ah, all of them. Most of them. A few of them. Mostly the ones written within the last year or so, I’ve grown so much as a writer in just a short year and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. Anything from the Top Gun fandom or Cobra Kai are my best and biggest labors of love and showcase who I want to be as writer. That being said, check out my new series--shades of healing--read part 1, part 2 and part 3, which I just posted today.
This was so fun @dancinbutterfly @boasamishipper, ya’ll want in on this?
