prank gone wrong (viral!) (steddie)
Eddie’s been someone’s dirty little secret before.
He’s got a type, okay? Unfortunately hot jocks are often the type of asshole to get sucked off behind the bleacher and then turn around and spit in his face about it. Going right back to their friends to talk shit about what a freak Eddie is, never mind the fact that his mouth still tastes like their nasty fucking jizz. He’s used to it by now. Used to people who pretend they barely know each other. He’s not asking they parade their relationship for the whole town to see, just someone who doesn’t pretend they’re strangers. Is that too much to ask?
He’s so fucking stupid. He really thought this time would be different.
Steve Harrington barreled into his life like a goddamn train and Eddie’s been derailed ever since.
The first time he met Steve he was six. Eddie still lived with his mom, and she took him to the park, where he met a little boy who wrinkled his nose and told him he smelled bad. Steve does not remember this, and turned red with mortification the first time Eddie told him
After that incredible hit to baby Eddie’s self-esteem, they didn’t interact much, existing on the periphery of each others lives. He figured it didn’t matter. Harrington was a year under him, and a douche besides. Was ready to leave town from the moment he learned to walk. As soon as he graduated, he could finally get the hell out of this place and never think about the assholes he went to school with again.
His mom leaves. His dad gets arrested. He moves in with his Uncle Wayne, who only has one bedroom in his trailer and won’t take no for an answer when he gives it to Eddie.
Eddie doesn’t graduate.
(Harrington comes back to school different after Byers beats him up. Eddie doesn’t notice. He’s got bigger things to worry about.)
They don’t talk in Eddie’s second run of senior year either. He hears the gossip, sees him come to school with stitches in his forehead and no girlfriend. Still, it’s none of his damn business. He rolls his eyes at the rumors and stays far away from Billy Hargrove.
Steve Harrington graduates. Eddie doesn’t.
And this is where his careful distance falls apart.
It’s the mall’s fault of course. What isn’t? Businesses closing down, rent going up, his resolve crumbling. All over some fucking ice cream. God, Eddie should have just turned around. Left the store and the mall and the entire damn town behind.
He’s aware he’s being melodramatic, but in his defense he’s queer in Indiana. He has a right to be.
Anyways, the point is that Eddie saw Harrington’s little blue shorts and red lips and cannot be held responsible for what happened after.
(They fucked. That’s what happened. They fucked, and kept fucking, and then after the mall burned down Steve showed up on his doorstep with suspiciously placed bruises and his coworker and looked at Eddie with pleading eyes. He didn’t even bring Robin home to her parents like a sensible person, just insisted on having her there because they were a package deal now and couldn’t be separated. Like puppies, Robin said when he looked at her. Last he checked, she wanted to bite Steve’s head off, and now they were attached at the hip?
He got used to it quickly. He had to. She comes on half their dates. Steve’s lucky he’s so cute.)
Now, nearly five months after Steve served him ice cream for the first time, he feels his heart shatter in the Hawkins High parking lot.
“Harrington,” Dustin shouts, and it carries across the empty lot. Steve’s head jerks up and he waves, Robin standing beside him. “Steve, c’mere!”
Steve tilts his head. “What?”
“Come. Here.” Dustin repeats, enunciating clearly. Mike and Lucas look at him like he’s insane. So do Gareth, Jeff, and Chuck.
Steve, who is standing a mere 20 feet away, turns to Robin and says something that makes her snort. Eddie can practically hear his bitchy murmur.
“Is that Harrington’s girlfriend?” He hears Gareth ask. He has to swallow his laughter.
“Yes,” Dustin says.
“No,” Mike corrects.
“He won’t admit anything, but he always has a bunch of hickies and stuff after hanging out with her,” Lucas clarifies, because half the time when Steve says he’s hanging out with Robin he's actually with Eddie. The fact that Robin is usually still there is irrelevant. Marking up his boyfriend is one of his favorite pastimes. He refuses to let his boyfriend’s “soulmate” get in the way just because she refuses to sleep in one of the Harrington’s fancy guest rooms like a normal person unless he kicks her out. The way they both pout at him for it is fucking ridiculous. He ends up giving in half the time, and then lies awake and cold on the very edge of the bed because Robin starfishes her way across the rest and Steve is a blanket hog.
The first time he tried giving Steve a hickey as some kind of dominance move for privacy, Robin stared him dead in the eye and didn’t back down.
“I can do that too,” she said, and promptly bit Steve on the shoulder. Steve, who was shirtless and already slightly dazed from Eddie’s ministrations, let out an honest to God squeak. Like a dog toy. Eddie and Robin both stared at him before breaking into loud cackles that had a blushing Steve yelling at them before finally burrowing under the covers and refusing to come out. Needless to say, Eddie didn’t get laid that night.
“Harring-ton,” Dustin whines.
“I’m literally right here. You come here.”
He did, if only to grab Steve by the wrist and drag him to where everyone else was standing. Steve squawks. “When we’re late for dinner with Ma, I’m telling her it was your fault—“
“I want you to meet everyone!”
“I went to school with them!”
“Yeah, but they think you’re still a dick,” he says, as if they’re not standing right there. Steve is similarly engrossed in their conversation, not even noticing that Dustin’s stopped walking.
“They can think whatever—“ he walks right into Eddie and lets out a startled oof. Eddie, who let it happen, catches him as he flails.
“Well hello to you too,” he says, not bothering to hide his amusement.
Steve looks at him with wide eyes, gaze dropping down to his lips before whirling around and snapping, “Henderson!”
“I didn’t do anything!”
“I didn’t do anything,” Lucas mimics under his breath, ducking behind Steve when Dustin turns around with the fury of a thousand suns in his eyes.
He just stands there, hands on his hips as the kids bicker around him.
“Oh, so now we can talk?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Steve asks, brow furrowed like he doesn’t know exactly what he’s talking about.
Eddie can’t help but laugh, a sharp sound that makes Steve jump. “What do you think it means, Harrington? You never want to talk to me in front of the kids! Don’t want to dirty your hands with the Freak in public, I guess.”
“I…what are you talking about?”
[no talkie henderosn]
“What?” His eyes get wide, panicked, as he reaches for Eddie. “Eddie, that’s not—you have to know that’s not what I meant by that. I never meant it like that!”
“Then how did you mean it?”
Steve mumbles something he can’t make out.
“Speak up, sweetheart.” It comes out mean, he knows it does, but he’s feeling a little mean right now. Lashing out like a wounded animal just because his boyfriend didn’t want to talk to him in public.
Actually, when he puts it that way, he remembers he’s justified.
Steve says something again, still incomprehensible. Eddie rolls his eyes. “If you can’t stop mumbling, I’ll just leave.”
That does the trick. “I thought we were playing a prank on Henderson together!”
Eddie gapes at him. “What?”
“I thought,” he repeats, running an anxious hand through his hair, “we were pretending not to know each other to mess with the kid. Eddie, baby, you’ve gotta know I wouldn’t have done it if I’d known you were hurting. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Why didn’t I…” This can’t be real. He’s been agonizing for months, and for what? A prank? Just some stupid, shitty prank Steve thought he was in on? He’s going to jump off the quarry. “Why didn’t you tell me? I could have had so much fun with that!”
“I thought you knew!”
“How would I have known? I can’t read your mind!”
“You can sometimes,” he says, pouting. Eddie wishes they weren’t in the middle of an argument, he wants to kiss those lips so bad.
He groans into his hands. “It’s significantly easier to tell when your boyfriend wants to fuck than it is to read ‘Hey, let’s play a prank on this twelve year old,’ on someone’s face, sweetheart.”
“I guess,” Steve huffs. Then his face softens. Eddie lets himself be drawn in by the wrist, helpless in the face of his sweet smile. “We can stop,” he promises, swaying in close enough for his breath to ghost across Eddie’s lips. “We could walk into Hellfire tomorrow holding hands, if you wanted to. Anything you want, just say the word.”
“How would we walk into Hellfire? It’s at your house.”
Steve pinches him for that.

So ive got an idea for a self-made bonus chapter! It involves rider, the s4 and some lore i have for him and his relations to them
Gonna put a cut since it miiight get lengthy, but this is the idea for it!
Btw, theres a certain headcannon of mine that goes with this, and its used in a fic i made! I'll link it down in the replies. It's not necessary, but you can read it to get a better idea of the tension that goes on in this idea!
So its post octo expansion arc, pre ranked arc. Army isn't bee hurt yet and Rider has just come back to the turf scene with yg team. When the s4 show up at the square individually with their teams, they notice a lot of whispers about Rider going around. Nothing that tells directly what's going on, but he will be having a team fight against some newbies later, so the s4 decide they'd sit in to see what's going on with him. The most they bet is that he's got a new trick up his sleeve!
Cut to a turf battle between team hachi and yg team, and the s4 are all shocked to see that rider has a pretty gnarly injury, the sanitizer scar. At the stage they see him, it's barely healed and he's playing more backline than up front, and his aim is most certainly not at it's usual sharpness (tho this aim is only noticable to their trained eyes, most would barely pick this up.) He might even be blind on that side now, but none of them can tell for sure.
Army, aloha, and mask, having previous history with rider, go and try to confront rider about his injuries on their own terms, which he, still rightfully mad about what they did to him, refuses to elaborate on. They pester until the three end up pestering together, then subsequently get yelled at by rider, and told along the lines of "why the hell should any of you care anyways?! Be glad one of your rivals got a handicap!" And tries to leave after that.
But of course the three still follow, having not been told and still concerned for him, especially since the tips of his tentacles are starting to turn the color of his wound. They end up trailing him to a stage not in rotation (maybe even a fest stage) and that's when Rider’s upset enough for something strange to happen - the wound glows and a special immediately ignites from the stress he feels.
"You want to know what happened to me so bad? Fine!"
And this is when the three suddenly find themselves engaging in an inner agent 3 esque battle, Rider’s limit with specials still not fixed. The three just barely dodge his splashdown, and his flings with a hero roller are faster than even mask can swing a carbon roller, not to mention if anybody tries to hit him he's rolling out of the way with a speed hard for even aloha to match.
What's clear to them now is that rider has very much never gotten over the hurtful things they said when their relationship as a team had been ended, and whatever is happening with him now is not helping those feelings! They try to stop him, and survive an inkjet phase, but army is taken out by bomb rush, mask is taken out by bubbles, and Aloha, who coincidentally was the closest to rider (and worst to rider at the time, who's words cut him the deepest), is left desparately dodging the consecutive splashdowns.
The other two had tried to apologize, and that was when they got got, and as aloha dodges he can no longer hold up a cool boy facade and is forced to confess that he had always regretted what he said back then; that he hated how he ended up hurting him and always wished things could go back to how they were, just healthier this time.
Aloha then survives a dead hit splashdown by using his baller, and grabs onto rider in an attempt to make him stop. He does stall for this moment, seeming to listen to aloha for a moment.
After that, a sniper shot hits rider in the face and it's enough to put a stop to the rampage. Skull's here, and he comments that it looked like they needed help - he was here the whole time, he just needed a good opportunity to get a direct hit and didn't want to get involved in being chased with specials.
Despite this, as army and mask get up from being knocked out and aloha carries rider, Skull explains he asked hachi about rider on a hunch and learned what happened in the deep sea, and that the wound is fresh and bothers him still. Oh, and he put salt water in that snipe shot because he remembers that was an old remedy avi's mom used to use for washing dirt out of scrapes, and figured it might do something to help.
The three thank skull for the save and get rider to his house, making sure he gets some proper rest while skull continues to use that remedy to attempt to fix Rider’s wound (and it does a good deal of help, actually! The sanitizer retreats more towards his eye.)
And of course, when rider wakes he and his old teammates have a proper discussion relating to what happened, and somewhat mend things back on good terms whilst aloha does some minor fixing of his gal, because that also barely survived the fight. He gets sad over his busted keychain that suffered that last splashdown, and rider offers to fix it (meaning he had glue) but that's how aloha convinces him to do the wahoo world thing. So yeah! Thats how you get costume arc.
Of course, they all are a bit different from their old selves, bur things are looking up and everyone's happier with being on better terms than before.
Hope you enjoyed this rant!

Head empty, pre-TPN season 2 thoughts only.
Normally I don’t even bother with hiding spoilers but since the new season is so close I’ll put everything below a cut (if tumblr cooperates) because I do want anime-onlys to enjoy the season with as little knowledge to what madness is about to happen as possible. This is just a bunch of notes that filled my head over the past couple days.. weeks? A long time.. and if I didn’t write them all down somewhere I wouldn’t stop thinking about them.. so if you understand this whole mess, then kudos to you.
So, here’s your post-season 1/ch37+ spoiler warning.
Demon language:
With Mujika and Sonju making their grand first appearances, I hope actually implement the demon language this time?
The only word spoken in the language in season 1 was the demon god’s name, which was just changed to “Him” (sub) or “The One” (dub), so ignoring it there was fine.
Granted, our demon friends don’t say much in their language during the upcoming arc, aside from this moment in ch48, but I can see the anime passing it off as a mere whisper between the two of them just so they don’t have to worry about it.
Tumblr media
I don’t recall any of the GP poachers using the language though.. right? Pretty sure they don’t..
Anyways, all I’m saying is that they better figure something out by the Ayshe shows up way later in future seasons.
Episode count? 24?
Short answer: I don’t think so? Did once, but stuff happened. Anyways..
Season 1 ended in March 2019, which is also when we learned we were getting a second season and once we found later on that S2 was originally going to air in October 2020, I immediately thought we were getting about 24 eps.
I thought with all that time between seasons, 24 eps would be reasonable and that S2 would end at ch101. S1 managed to adapt 37 chapters, so 64 chapters in a season twice as long sound decent enough, right?
By the time we reach ch101, it would give us the demon forest, shelter B06-32, Goldy Pond and the short trip to Cuvitidala. (all of which would make this long wait for s2 sooo worth it btw.)
By this point we learn a bunch about the outside world, Norman being alive, what happened to Phil, and the demon bastard himself.
I bring up ch101 as a stopping point because it’s the last chapter before the two year time skip and.. I honestly can’t see them doing a time skip mid-season?
I mean, they could if they wanted to, I guess? Having everyone age up suddenly between episodes via a montage, a quick summary or even flashbacks of what we missed.. but maybe at the start of a season? Not in the middle.
Right now we know anime original scenes are going to be included into season 2 so I’m kinda hoping that once we do eventually reach the time skip we learn more about the search Emma’s group went on for T7W/golden water/temples.
I counted. If S2 does indeed get this many episodes, ep23 (or 22, if there’s a break in between somewhere or whatever) will land on my birthday and you can bet I’ll be beyond happy
HOWEVER! all the hope I once had about a 24ep season vanished due to the clusterfuck that was 2020. Thanks to the worldwide pandemic, many anime were put on hold and pushed back several months, with TPN airing this month rather than the original October date.
It was a bummer hearing about the delay at first but I never complained about it. I much rather have the studios prioritize their employee’s health over production.
Even if S2 did reach ch101, or even Goldy Pond, they would need to find a ton of new voice actors, and with how the world is working now.. eh, I have some doubts.
Cloverworks also has two other series airing this month aside from TPN so needless to say they’ll be a bit busy, especially if employees are still working from home, social distancing, or however they’re managing to produce these anime.
So, episode count.. 12?
The main reason I have a hard time grasping the idea of another 12ep season at all is because.. I don’t know where it’ll be a decent place for it to stop?
S1 ending at ch37 with the kids escaping? Perfect. You can’t question that decision. But now? When a whole bunch of craziness is about happen? How do you choose another perfect moment to end a season with?
No matter how many anime original scenes they have planned for the demon forest, I believe we’ll at least reach B06-32, which will get us to ch52.
Could they go farther? Sure. Perhaps ending at ch59-60? It would leave us off with Emma & Ray leaving the comfort of the shelter to follow Yuugo into yet another demon infested forest, much like how S1 left off, as the escapees left their once safe, comfortable life into the unknown world.
Tumblr media
Or end at ch64? After Emma gets snatched by the poachers? It could work. It would certainly leave everyone wanting more, especially us manga readers because goddamn the GP arc would be SO close!
Tumblr media
Perhaps ch74 after seeing Norman alive? Just so it’s not a big darn secret anymore to those who are going into this season blind? (how do people manage to stay anime only? i’m not trying to make anyone feel bad.. i’m just impressed? i caught up to the manga right after s1 because i didn’t have the self control to wait!)
Tumblr media
Ending on that chapter would be so bittersweet to me.. because you know what appears in ch75 and it’s literally one of the only things I care about.
Tumblr media
S2 preview trailers already teased some of the demon forest scenes I’m most excited about, so the only things left that will truly excite me are Yuugo and that darn outfit. (seriously, whenever we do get to see emma in her gp outfit for the first time, someone better scream at me so i can die from happiness.)
Okay, and all the GP kids too.. especially their trio!
Tumblr media
Could they fit the Goldy Pond arc into a 12 episode season along with every other event that came before it? I.. seriously hope not?
Compared to s1, which was very dialogue heavy, GP is about as action packed as we’re gonna get in the near future, and those scenes are going to fly by once they get put into motion.
Quick example (because it was recent and i can’t think of something else atm): the Overhaul arc from My Hero Academia. Off the top my head it was about 40 total ch? That arc took up half of the show’s S4, which was a total 25 eps.
So with the GP ending at ch96, it’ll give us about 20-30 chapters (depending on where you personally see the start of this arc I guess? once yuugo leads the duo through the forest, when emma gets snatched or when the battle actually starts)
If GP were to happen in s2 where there’s 12 episodes.. literally everything would be so fast paced and I don’t want them to rush anything or leave stuff out?
Other options?
It’s very wishful thinking and I would be getting my hopes up for nothing, because I know it won’t happen, but I could possibly see them fitting GP arc if S2 was made up of 18eps?
6 eps for the demon forest, 6 for Goldy pPond, the remaining 6 to accommodate B06-32, Cuvitidala and any other anime original scenes as they wish.
Although fitting about 64 chapters into 12-18 episodes sounds a bit much.. but not really? I seriously have no idea at this point how much story we’re going to cover this season.
Could I perhaps place all my hopes towards a second cour later this year? Like for the summer.. or would I be expecting too much?
This all could’ve been avoided if they just tell us! Seriously, I’ve been thinking about episode count since last year.. and now you have to deal with this mindless chatter of mine.
I’d honestly be okay with another 12ep season though. We waited this long that I’ll just be excited to see all the children again.
Anime-only scenes:
Those 3 days the children spent learning from our demon friends? Yes please! Did you know Emma not only learned how to use a bow and arrow but a freakin’ harpoon as well? Like.. hello?? I must see this!
Tumblr media
Perhaps they’ll even adopt some of the extra pages from some of the chapters, like they did in S1 with the flashback of Norman being sick in ep10.
I know this will be such a high hope, but I remember in ch177 how Emma claims that after they escaped, they all remembered how kind Isabella really was, so if they decide to adapt the extras from ch41-42 & ch45, I’ll cry.
Tumblr media
And these pages? Cloverworks, please..
Tumblr media
I’m literally begging here..
Tumblr media
Especially these two! Even though I still doubt we’ll reach Goldy Pond if we get 12eps.. but in the future! Please!
Tumblr media
Other random nonsense:
I may or may not get emotional upon seeing Isabella at the very start when she goes to confront Grandma Sarah. If her hair is kept down as it was at the end of S1 then I’ll give the anime staff my sincere thanks.
We only heard 15 seconds of “Identity” and yet it has been living in my head rent free ever since that trailer dropped. I need to hear the full song sooo damn badly, y’all have no idea.
Here’s hoping they don’t cut out the inner monologues again. At this moment I don’t remember any specific ones from the demon forest I want to see but I’m sure they’re present.
I’m ready to die at every cute Chris moment they give us.. and this entire scene where the kids scold Ray.
Tumblr media
Literally every scene with Emma & Ray. They’re my top 2 favorites from this series okay? Of course I’m going to fangirl over them. (they already showed the hug in one of the trailers and i damn near cried)
Tumblr media
If we see him, (which i’m sure we will, but i still have tiny some doubts) I hope they give Yuugo a fantastic voice actor.
Also, his nicknames for everyone!! Literally everything about that man I’m hyped for.
Again, very doubtful we’ll get GP in a 12ep season, but whenever that arc decides to grace us with its presence, “63194” better play on full blast when ch92-93 gets animated.
Speaking of music, while I’m completely excited to hear the new OST that Obata has in store for us (thank god he’s doing this season again btw!), I hope we hear some of those unused tracks from the first season, specifically “Their Own Thoughts.”
Every time Emma mentions their future, their goals or how her family will always be together, I’ll cry. (thanks demon god and your stupid reward)
Yes I’ll be doing those reaction posts (if you follow me i’m sure you’ve seen them by now) after every new episode as I do with other series I watch.. once I survive the usual long day at work, avoiding anything TPN related so I can watch in peace and quiet when I finally get home.. damn it, im already so anxious, help.

Episode 3/4 Line-Up Theory
Update: So, what follows below is a theory I posted pre-season 8. The gist of it is that we hoped Beth would show up in S8, which she obviously didn’t. So overall, what I posted here was kind of a bust.
But I was reading back through old theories and found this one, and I encourage you to read what I originally wrote. Because while Beth didn’t show up in S8, so the 8s I talk about here obviously weren’t pointing to that, they may have pointed to the 8 year gap between Coda and where we are in the narrative now. So while I was wrong about what I originally theorized, I think I was still picking up on real symbolism. So go through and read what I wrote and I’ll update it at each juncture.
Let me preface this by saying that I’ve talked with several people about different aspects of it, usually my FB peeps. So a great big shoutout to them for always nourishing my theory-addicted TD brain. Also, to @wdway bc it was a convo with her that gave me the idea to actually do this post.
She made the comment after we talked about the possible 8x03 behind Daryl in the trunk
Tumblr media
that if this clock behind Beth is meant to read 8x03,
Tumblr media
then it would be interesting because it would parallel with 7x03 where Daryl was imprisoned and cut off from TF at the Sanctuary.
Update: Once again, the 8s may represent 8 years passing before Beth returns to Daryl. But I also once theorized that the 8 clocks = death because we see them in the rooms of several dead patients at Grady, just as they actually die. So this may also be some iteration of the 8:20 clock. The 8 or 8:03 clock may represent that this is the “death” phase of the story. The 8:20 clock represents the resurrection phase which, for Beth, is yet to come.
That REALLY got me thinking. So go with me on this. All the way back to S4. The season of the Great Foreshadowings. This is the part me and the FB peeps have hashed out before.
Check out this scene in–yes–episode 3. The virus is running rampant and Beth has been quarantined with Judith. Here’s the convo she has with Maggie.
Beth: Things okay out there?
Maggie: Glenn has it.
Beth: Maggie. We don’t get to be upset. We all got jobs to do. That’s what Daddy always says. Daryl and Michonne will get the meds. You and Carol and Rick will help everyone ‘til they get back. And I’ll take care of Judith. Just focus on what you have to do. No matter what happens, we’ll deal with it. We have to.“
So notice a few things: Beth is cut off, isolated, separated from TF. Obvious foreshadow of her Grady arc.
Tumblr media
But the other super-significant thing to me about this is that they talk about Glenn. We have Maggie talking to Beth and being upset because she’s afraid Glenn will die. And a baby (Judith) is involved.
Tumblr media
Now fast forward to S7/S8. Maggie is upset because Glenn is dead, and there’s a baby involved (Glaggie baby). Actually, I believe it was @boltthrutheheart who posited that Beth’s voiceover in Inmates talking about Lori’s baby being due soon was a foreshadow of Maggie’s pregnancy being a think when Beth returned. I think the same is true here. This is a foreshadow that Glenn will be dead, Maggie will be sad about that, and there will be a baby involved, when Beth returns.
Another thing: Notice that Beth says Maggie, Carol and Rick will help everyone until things get better. I’m sorry. Who are the leaders of the communities in S7?
Tumblr media
Okay, it’s really Ezekiel more than Carol, but we didn’t know Ezekiel at this point in the story, so Carol is a stand-in for him. He’s part of her arc and she’ll help him lead the Kingdom. So this foreshadows the three of them leading the three communities. I’m going to come back to this idea in just a minute.
(And once again, Daryl in S4 was going off to be separate from them for a time.)
Beth also tells Maggie not to be upset, but to focus on her job/what she has to do. Folks, that’s EXACTLY what we’ve seen Maggie do in the wake of Glenn’s death. She mourned for him, of course. But she doesn’t sit around moping and feeling sorry for herself. She focuses on what she was to do. What her job is. Leading the Hilltop.
My point is that this was a major foreshadow not only of Beth’s arc, being separated from TF, but also of when she would return (Glenn’s death, Maggie’s pregnancy, Maggie’s 'job’ at the Hilltop).
Now, though it wasn’t part of this theory originally, I knew Maggie and Beth talk again later after Hershel goes into the sick ward with the tea he’s made. I wanted to take a closer look at that convo as well. Here it is:
Beth: Maggie? Daddy’s gone. He left.
Maggie: I know. Did he tell you where he went?
Beth: No, but…I know.
Maggie: How?
Beth: Dr. S. is sick and… we all got jobs to do.
Maggie: We’ll deal with it, right?
Beth: We don’t get to get upset.
Then Beth starts to cry.
Tumblr media
Okay, so I’ve always seen Beth’s final line followed by her crying as part of the theme about her not crying anymore. She says that all the time, but it’s kind of a load of crap. She says it but she still cries because she’s human and saying it is just her way of trying to be strong. (It also shows that the "I’m glad I didn’t say goodbye” is a load of crap too, btw.)
I also can’t help but notice the doctor reference thrown in, especially bc Dr. S was a very small character we barely knew before the virus took him. So could simply be a foreshadow of all the doctors on the show dying. Or…of something else. ;D
But here’s the thing, guys. This is a foreshadow of Hershel’s death. “Daddy’s gone” = Hershel’s death. The next time we see Beth cry after this is at the prison right after the Governor beheads Hershel. In that scene, right after the bus takes off, Maggie even says to Sasha and Bob, “We’ll figure it out.” Kind of like “we’ll deal with it” here.
So that’s not part of the episode 3,4 stuff I’m about to go into, but it just goes to show that these conversations foreshadow a lot of the major arcs that come up after 4a.
Update: Okay, this is what I mean about picking up on real symbolism. Even though Beth didn’t return directly after Glenn’s death in S8, I still think this works. I had to sit down and think about the actual situation going on at the prison in this episode. Where everyone was and what they were doing. And here’s what occurred to me:
Glenn and Hershel are both in cell block A. Glenn because he’s sick and Hershel because he went in to help the sick. But remember they told us very obviously that cell block A had been used as Death Row. So, while neither of them died at this point in the story, in a way, that symbolizes death for both Glenn and Hershel. Both of them being in there was a foreshadow of both of them dying at some point.
And this is super interesting because we have Maggie and Beth talking--even having a mini reunion, if you will, because Beth has been in isolation--after Glenn and Hershel have gone into cell block A (death row). To me, that represents a reunion between Beth and Maggie after Glenn and Hershel’s deaths. And, from what we’ve seen in the show thus far, and what the GA understands, Beth definitely did outlive Hershel...but not Glenn. See what I mean? This suggests she will outlive him in some way and speak with Maggie again.
Also, Sasha got sick and was in cell block A with Glenn and Hershel, and she’s deceased as well in the current timeline. Also also, Beth is taking care of JUDITH.
Just saying.
But that is not all, my friends. No, that is not all.
Because of @wdway’s comment, I decided to look at all the episodes 3 in each season. Obviously in S5, Beth’s big episode was episode 4, not 3. See, it kind of works and kind of doesn’t. I’m gonna say that episodes 3 and 4 are always entwined and in many ways interchangeable. Let me illustrate.
In season 4, we had the above in ep 3. Ep 4 featured Daryl and co. going to the veterinary college for meds. Also the gas station labeled “hell."
Tumblr media
There were SO many Grady parallels and even golf club callbacks in that episode. (Bob’s alcohol, plus books in the Grady-ish place called “New Dawn” and “The Pathology of Fear.” Also this is the episode where Daryl randomly finds green jasper and spends the rest of the episode looking at it like it’s his soul mate.)
Tumblr media
So we had the foreshadow of Beth’s arc and return in ep 3 and then more of her arc’s foreshadowing in ep 4.
In season 5, episode 4 was Slabtown, so I don’t have to explain that. Ep 3 was Four Walls and a Roof. This one’s a little harder to pin down, but we have the church being turned into a slaughter house. (Perhaps church = Beth and blood of the Termites = her being shot?). We also have Bob’s death (Beth proxy) which kicked off Sasha’s anger arc, which we just saw wrap up in 7x16. At this point, neither Beth, Daryl, nor Carol are present. They’re all off entangled in Grady arcs on their own.
Tumblr media
And then there’s the fact that Maggie and Glenn don’t take part in the killings. Not sure how to tie that in, but it’s always seemed significant to me. In fact, the only person who helped kill the Termites who is still alive is Rick. (Others were Sasha and Abraham.) Then, at the end of the episode, Daryl, who had disappeared without a trace in TF’s eyes, suddenly reappears.
Now let’s look at S6. Morgan’s Big Episode (6x04) had massive parallels to Slabtown. There were tons of details, but on a macroscopic level, it was him, isolated from TF and an episode that was only about him. Only one major character in the entire episode, in a new community that really belongs only to him.
Now, the fact that it’s ep 4 also mirrors Slabtown. But we also know that originally episode 6x01 was supposed to be 5x16, but tptb changed it. If they hadn’t, Morgan’s episode would have been ep 3 which would have mirrored the foreshadow in 4x03. Of course, it’s always possible that they changed it specifically to mirror Slabtown more closely.
Also keep in mind that ep 3 of S6 is Thank You, which has major Grady parallels in the pet shop, and also kicks off Glenn’s death fake-out. You know, the one he came back from four episodes later?
Tumblr media
Then in S7, ep 3 is all about Daryl, cut off from TF and imprisoned in the Sanctuary. Obviously that mirrors Slabtown and Here’s Not Here, but again, it’s episode 3, not episode 4. See what I mean about them being interchangeable, but VERY important?
Tumblr media
So I know this is a very loose, all-over-the-place theory, but now we have this clock that may point to 8x03. And Gimple saying the first 4 episodes of S8 will melt everyone’s brains.
Update: Okay, here’s what I’ll say about this. I feel like I have a little more of a grip on this than I did back before S8. I think the ep3/ep4 sequence is real, but I think in most cases, ep 3 = death and ep 4 = resurrection. Sometimes it’s shown literally, and other times it’s more of an emotional or psychological thing.
So in S4, 4x03, Isolation represents death. I don’t think anyone in particular dies in this episode. Perhaps a few people at the prison but no major characters. The death here is represented by the isolation. They’re all split up into groups and can’t be together because of the virus.
4x04 = resurrection because we see some things getting better. This is where Daryl and co go to the gas station (replete with Beth symbolism). They find and reconstitute a car battery, using water, get the car started, red and green wires, an Michonne especially gets to a more healthy mental place about the governor. I also just want to point out that this is where Daryl stares at the green stone he found on the way home.
Season 5:
5x03: Four Walls and a Roof = Death. I probably don’t have to explain why. Lots of gory stabbiness going on. Death of the Termites. But I also want to say that this happening in Gabriel’s white church is important. It probably foreshadows the white church they tried to bury Beth in. So what I said above about it representing Beth being shot was (sort of) true. Either way, this episode = death.
5x04: Slabtown = resurrection. Now, I know that may seem counter intuitive as this wasn’t the most life-affirming episode, but it confirmed for GA that Beth was still alive. (Remember, lots of people theorized she died at Terminus at the end of S4.) We also saw her fighting back against Dawn for her freedom, so it represents her being reborn as a tougher character.
Season 6:
6x03: Thank You = Death. Again, pretty obvious as this was Glenn’s death fake out and Nicholas’s death.
6x04: Here’s Not Here = Resurrection. This was Eastman bringing Morgan back to life emotionally and psychologically from the state of mind Rick and Michonne left him in during S3. He was semi-crazy and not really living, but Eastman helped him change all that.
7x03: The Cell = Death. Super depressing episode where Daryl was in a super dark place after Glenn and Abraham’s deaths. And if you pay attention to the sequence, you can see his evolution. At first, he’s reaching for the light, but not really trying to get there. He accepts what Dwight gives him without question. But later, after the very Beth-ish song that Dwight plays for him, we see him perk up, start caring about his own well being again, and trying to escape.
7x04/7x05: Resurrection. I think it’s actually a combination of these two episodes. While they’re still doing what Negan wants, I think 7x04 is where we see the first spark of Rick starting to think about fighting back, especially where his relationship with Spencer is concerned. Then in ep 5, Maggie smashes the musical Gremlin with a tractor. So the resurrection in this season is all about them starting to fight back against their oppressors.
8x03/8x04: Without going into details, because AOW is all over the place, let’s just remember that these two episodes included the resurrection of Morales and a mini death fake out for Zeke, which Carol saved him from.
I’ll stop there because S9 gets even muddier with Rick’s departure. But I think you get the idea. I think they use sequences of episodes within a season (or the 8-episode framework) to show their themes. So they often have one episode where everyone is sad, dying, separated from one another, etc. And then follow it up with one where there’s more hope, they’re fighting back, and coming back together. That’s really the whole point of this theory.
Thoughts?

What are your favorite episodes of gossip girl? And why are they your favorites? I love your blog btw!
ahhh i wanted to like, do a really thoughtful response to this, so i sat on it for a while. i'm thinking i'll just give you the ones off the top of my head, and whenever i think of more i'll add them! i have episodes that i love and are kind of the heart of the show, to me, and then i have episodes that i really really like, so making a list like this feels complicated, LKHDFLKG. more under the cut! <3
to begin with, i actually do have a favourite gg episode! it's 2x06. like if i could only ever watch one episode of gg for the rest of my life, it'd be that one. it has everything i vibe with! jenny being happy! blairena fight + conflict resolution! dan and nate becoming friends after a series of mishaps that are extremely ridiculous! chuck brooding while he watches dan and nate flirt with each other! like this episode was written for me. there's no other way to say it.
i loved 2x07 as a follow-up to this, but the portrayal of chuck in this one was very.... what's the right word. like if you like chuck you'll like it, kind of thing, i think. but i loved dan navigating being nate's friend, figuring out boundaries, talking to serena about nate, etc. and i loved the van der bass family drama, and eric giving lily a talk on how to be a mom. like - it's sad, and i know it's sad - but it's also real, you know?
i also really like 3x09 - i'm guessing you sent me this ask after seeing the tags on that post i reblogged. i know this is not a popular fandom opinion but i actually really liked the danlivessa triad & hoped (naively) that they would become a polycule. in fact, i made the mistake of watching 3x09 for the first time right before a 2 hour lecture and i could think of nothing else but that polycule, i even wrote a fic about the three of them (which canon very cheerfully demolished with 3x10, RIP). but that polycule aside, i loved the blairena conversation in there. this is one of those episodes where you can really truly ABSOLUTELY see why blair and serena are best friends, and how much they love each other. also!!!! all the jenny and eric cotillion drama was fascinating. like - there was a Lot happening this episode and i loved it.
@mysteriesofloves has spoken on 1x04 here - i fully agree with everything she's said so i'm not going to write my own explanation. it's an episode with so much heart!!
i adore 4x16 mostly because sometimes, when uni work gets too overwhelming, i find blair in that episode extremely relatable. that's my shallow reason KLHFDLKGKL. nads has this meta here, but for me it's not even the dair of it all, it's just the thing of like- being a perfectionist! being ambitious!!! and then biting off more than you can chew and needing to admit that you fucked up - this is something i struggle with irl with tasks / duties / responsibilites, so this is kinda a comfort episode for me in that sense!
i also like 2x21 mostly because everyone is being a disaster and cyrus is just being the best! he wants things to go well! and nobody intends to cause drama, it just happens. serena's whole "dan i think i got married to some random guy!" really sends me, like, the whole episode has this vibe of surreality which is interesting to watch.
oh, i cannot neglect to mention 2x18. i love so much about that episode. the serenessa arc is so funny (there is flirting! i mean. of course there is.) nate & vanessa's fight + conflict resolution!!! blair realising that her actions have consequences & that she needs to be more mindful of that /that there are things her privilege cannot shield her from!! ngl i was really hoping that the narrative of the show would develop blair's character from there, give her some of that sweet sweet character growth.
i also, uh. i was trying to think of how i could tell you which s1 episodes i like, but the truth is the first half of s1 - i think from e01 to e12 or e13 - was just so perfect. like it really set the tone for the show, told us who these kids were, and what their messy world was like. it was so strongly done and i think for me at least, that's probably a big part of what made me actually watch the rest of the show! i wasn't planning on it. i had 40 min to kill one day and thought, why not watch the pilot of gossip girl just to kill time. clearly, as you can see, that is not what happened.
honourable mentions go to 1x09, because we really see what blair, serena & nate were like, pre-series, and 1x03, because i think that episode did a really good job at like - showing that blair was hurting serena because she was hurt while at the same time not excusing blair's actions but ALSO it's the first proper glimpse we get into blair & serena's dynamic as a whole. i also love 1x12 because we get derena talking about privilege + serena acknowledging/ understanding what that really means to some extent (the writers did them so dirty, like, they resolved this conflict already) and we ALSO get blairnessa friendship! i really wish blair & vanessa had been allies, they're both so determined in such similar ways.
the s4 dair arc esp from 4x10 to i think 4x17 (? or 4x16?) is a lot of fun. when it comes to s5, i liked 5x13 the first time i watched it (idk how it'll hold up on rewatch), 5x15, 5x16 and 5x21 (despicable b my beloved!!)
s6 sucks, but if you watch the last 5 or so minutes of 6x10 you will see nate eye-fucking dan at the derena wedding, which just goes to show that sometimes your niche gay otp CAN be canon.......people just haven't recognised it yet.

i need to make a post (and update daily) thats like my thoughts during s8 with knowing about the big character-death-spoiler/rumor from TSDF. so then i won’t spam n annoy people. (and hide. idk, my readers can see it or read it whatever. but this keeps me sane.) k...  more posts about on,  #*twd, #*twd s8 spoilers, or Here
(keep reading) *Heavy TWD spoilers!
*I’m guessing these hints will be featuring mostly to the Grimes 2.0...Rick, Michonne, Carl, and Judith.
** So, based on the spoiler/rumor is that Carl dies in the msf.( But I just wanna say sometimes I think it’s also..Rick who will die. Maybe because we see Rick a lot in s8a instead of Michonne and Carl, so far. -ep 2) Plus, s8 filming isn’t done yet and stuff could be changed. Symbolisms and stuff ..isn’t real clear because it’s meant for us to speculate and wonder ..but yeah. Idk. So, my speculations may be wrong.  ps. I don’t know much about religion stuff,so..I probably miss out on the religion symbolisms and their meanings.
---
After watching two episodes, yeah…….something’s very big is gonna happen to Rick(and other Grimes.). I love these symbolisms/parallels throughout s8, but omg! :(  I like these symbolisms and I was wondering about how the writers will do(try) with the big death of the show. So far, I like that they’re hinting at us and doing something meaningful about it. Of course it depends on some fans that  if it satisfy them of how the writing/storywise goes, and still believe in it and keep watching, Or no matter what happens they want to quit the show. u could be annoyed how obvious symbolisms/parallels, but I like that it is obvious or whatever cos so then the audience gets it and feel like ready for it, suspect that a Grimes death will happen.
- 8x01 - They show these weird visions and timelines with Rick and it’s only Rick(Grimes). There’s “red eyed rick”  , and his” future-vision/old man rick” AL said it’s like a puzzle. Maybe like a one vision is true, idk. Each visions in the episode, there are death symbolisms. In the future-vision, Judith mentioned an owl and there was a song been playing. Parody song of Queen’s “Another one bites the dust”. Red-eyed Rick’s scene, uh the Greek window sign thing..means death marker. Basically symbolizes death. Red-eyed Rick was crying pretty hard like someone personal to him died. (At first I thought it’s a Negan-choice thing but from the spoilers, it makes me think it’s about Carl.) Red-eyed Rick said the quote that Siddiq said about mercy.(the man who said the quote, and Carl, later helped him by giving him foods.) The quote brings up of what Carl did or reminded me of the opening scene. All this pointed to Carl. When Judith mentioned of an owl in the future scene, it made me think that the writers do symbolisms that would describe “child/ren death”. Like maybe it will be like “one of Rick’s kids will die. Who?” IMO, I don’t think the writers will kill off Judith.
Beside of all those scenes, the scene when Rick killed the savior and he was threatening him and saying “your boy will die. I’ve seen you beg.” etc. I found it interesting that writers showed that. Idk if it’s like showing something simple-like how different Rick is now than s7,or is it that scene is something to think about a lot. That scene seems to be something to think about. hmm
With all these symbolisms, it’s interesting that there’s a scene of Michonne and Carl, when Michonne said “this is your show.”to protect ASZ. If Carl does die, this is like the saddest red-herring?/foreshadowing thing. Carl will die in ASZ with Michonne.( *i think the spoiler said she finds him dead or she was there and saw it. idk. it’s very like s6 msf.* I’m so ahhh sad for Michonne. And Rick too, I hope Rick will be able to talk to Carl for the last time.) It’s not gonna be Carl’s show.
- 8x02 It seems so telling(because we’re getting closer to the truth), and I’m liking how the writer are dealing with it so far. I think i know why they brought back Morales(yeah that guy from Atlanta, so far away). He's the guy that knows Rick from s1(the beginning of the story/premise-ish~) and knows s1-Rick. Maybe there will be more Morales in the season or we will have a defining moment of the season between Rick and Morales. And that Morales’s plot with Rick is like...something that will feel like ..the show is wrapping up s1-8a’s story about “Rick looking after Carl”! Plus, something to show how much Rick had changed.
I keep thinking about the comics. I’m pretty sure s9 is set in the future. In the comics, the volume? is called “The New Beginning” It’s all seem coincidental. It’s a new beginning for Rick and the Grimes. Just not like the new beginning-way as the comics did. (But, I’m sure it’s hard for the writers to do this “new beginning” when Carl dies before the war ends(?) and before the future. The writers are doing both, on changing premise and meaning of the “new beginning.” Unpopular opinion, I wish they recast Carl then. I wish they say s8 is their last but it’s not..and idk how long TWD go on. It’s all confusing. s8 not planned out well? Perhaps TWD’s conclusion will just suck no matter what.)
So, I’m wondering if I’m right about the “children death” symbolism. We see a baby and her name is Gracie. I’m not sure what it could mean about “grace”, but again they mention a child. Something about children and grace. It could also mean that war is horrible and that innocent lives could die. Also that changes people like Rick and others. Should Rick go far as killing a father who’s a Savior or save the father who will look after the baby. Rick’s a father so ...it’s all personal to him.
On The Talking Dead show of ep 2, Gimple said there will be a lot more moments that reminds Rick of the past. Like wow, mentions of the past! I think that’s just showing more of wrapping up of the storyline of s1-s8a. I guess I call it’ the old premise.’ of TWD. “Rick looking after/raising Carl” ...Or, it could be just some arc that Rick learns about his character and changes. (I guess about Negan stuff.) Or, both. Btw, I’m liking s8 so far and I’m really interested in Rick’s arc. The battle scenes/ action stuff doesn’t bore me. It’s also cool or feels different that everyone’s interacting. All communties are together. Though, I wish for more TF interactions and more scenes of Carol with TF.
- 8x03 -pre-aired sp.  I read 8x03 spoilers and okaaaaaaaay it’s like I’m wrong on my theories. meh..i really dont want Grimes adopting Gracie. Seems like Aaron will. Also apparently, Morales dies right away too. But, before that he called Rick “monster” which reminds me of Carl’s moment with Michonne s4. “Im a monster like everyone else.” So,idk yet how the scene goes, but I think either way, seeing Morales and thinking of s1 and how much Rick changed ..is something that makes us think of TWD s1-8A. Still kind of like wrapping up the old premise TWD story. ..eh or just like how Rick and Negan are/not similar. ??? /Also with the dumb Gracie theory, is that Morales also said that lost his family. Probably be similar/foreshadowing to Rick on losing his kids, like Morales./ But, I hope Aaron adopts Gracie.
*I keep hoping the writers are doing this theory I have on “wrapping up the old premise of the show” thing because I think it’s a good idea, helps for me and for some others to deal with on” should I keep watching the show after carl dies even though Rick/Carl father and son is the premise of the show?”*
After watching it, I think the Morales re-appearance thing was more like ..something minor..something that makes Rick think. Like he’s not Negan-plot. I do think Rick is starting to think or be part of the side of not wanting to kill all saviors. (comics-saving civilization) He’s giving WTF faces to Daryl. So, Idk about this Morales thing. ok writers...meh. Well, yeah, Rick and Morales did made me think of the show overall with the mentions of Glenn and widow, and how Rick changed. “Officer friendly”. But it didnt remind me of Carl and father/son part of the show. However the part with Rick trying to help out Todd, reminds me that Carl is on that side of having faith/hope..take prisoners kind of thing. Rick was trying to help Todd and it was like he was thinking of Carl too / in 8x01.
idk i’m kinda disappointed uh ...I just hope writers can pull it off with the carl ‘s death and changing the story. But, it’s just kinda there. (msf is gonna be too shocking) Also, Carl isn’t in much of S8A, i think. There’s a lot of focus on Rick.  hmm it’s like Rick got two arcs going on..that’s go together, I guess. Keep prisoners/not negan(keep civilization), and the other is blast from the past/he’s changed/~different premise
ps. I think Daryl got comic-Carl’s arc in this season, who wants to kill any savior. It’s not like he stole it or writers got lazy (maybe), but like just so tv Carl can die as still being likable and good(moral compass). Or, actually, I think Daryl is acting like what I was hoping tv-Carl would act like in s8 before I learned about the major death spoiler.  I wonder where tv-Carl stand on the whole kill saviors or keep prisoners. It makes me think tv Carl would want to keep the prisoners.
8x04- This was mostly about Ezekiel and team kingdom. carol and jerry. shiva. Plus a bonus Rickyl car chase. (less on Rick’s arc) I really liked this ep, but w/the big spoiler, I feel that Carl should be featured more. ..I hope he is in the next 4 episodes. I miss lil bad ass guy and wished he was with Rickyl.
So with parallels or hints, someone mentioned that with the leaders, Rick, Maggie, and Zeke, they all lost someone...or will, in a big way. Zeke in this episode lost Shiva who made him who he is as a king , a hero, a leader. So for Rick..perhaps writers are thinking he gonna lose someone-Carl, that someone who made him want to survive and lead in the ZA. idk but its interesting. It kinda says that what will Rick be now after Carl ..in the “new beginning” and not-like-negan stuff.  (btw omg the comicbook foreshadowings/parallels with zeke.)
-8x05 The Negan/Gabe ep, plus Rickyl. I wrote some stuff already in #*twd. So I was surprised Negan mentioned his wife to Gabe. It makes me think the writers might speed up the story that is based on the comics.(Carl gets comic-Andrea’s death?) So, with Rick, it’s interesting again, that there’s callbacks/parallels happening to him. All about Rick in that way. In the ep, Rick saw a helicopter flying past him. It’s a callback to pilot and later in s1, *Morales called him “Helicopter boy”. Before that, we see Rickyl fight a bit over the kill/no kill all saviors, Daryl was doing the chokehold and they pointed it out. Strong callback to s1x03. I’m kinda surprised the callbacks/parallels are still going. It’s not just 8x01. All these parallels and stuff..reminding the fans of what the show was like...old premise..Rick looking after his son. Oh, these arguments on killing saviors, is kinda what it is in the comics, I think most disagree with Rick and in the future.
-8x06 Everyone’s appears. It’s kind of a transition ep. or filler episode(s). Ok so everyone’s catching up what had happened during the day. It’s cool to see everyone. I liked that Maggie mentioned Sasha! So, I’m kinda disappointed on this episode. There’s some plots that are just like boring or confusing. I mean the whole Michonne just wanting to see Sanctuary. ok... (some battle scenes too hollywood) Then there’s this sudden thing of TF going apart, going rogue and against Rick’s “plan”. It’s annoying and confusing. Idk where Enid/Aaron went but it’s not Rick’s “plan”. Daryl/Tara are gonna be more annoying..u’ll see. But that’s what angry people do. (probably leading to some more Rickyl separating more) Michonne got what she wanted to look at Sanctuary, but I wish she mentioned Rick or something else. I liked seeing Maggie as a leader and just figuring out on her own to be what kind of a leader. She does what she wants to do.
I love the Carl moments with Siddiq. I love that Carl is this good young man. I love the callbacks of Lori’s promise. That’s important to me and I liked that the writers mentioned that. But with the Carl’s death thing...I wish for more from the writers. (see other post.) I also like Carol’s moments too. There’s like callback of Sophia.( I guess callback to think of s2/Sophia.) I really like the convo with Zeke, about being real (even tho shippers being all crazy from it)I think it’s not about romance but just what they had done to survive.k. I really hope there’s good reasons writing-wise, to have Rick at Scavengers. I’m hoping it goes on some plan b thing..to have Rick meet Negan, or a plot to show TF saving Rick. BUT, spoilers, it’s not that...idk what happens later yet. Just seems disappointing and learning about Lennie/Morgan going to FTWD is just gah!
I hope writers explain why they have rick’s plan not taken seriously from TF and Rick being at Scavengers place. IDK how Rick goes back to ASZ. *i feel bit anxious and expecting a lot more because it’s almost to s8 msf.
I like the parallels/foreshadowings too. Like gallows/gregory. Carl mentioning his parents...I believe Michonne will be with him when he dies. Carol leading kingdom in the future, maybe? I like the A symbol (foreshadowing doom or something lol) on the box where Rick was at.
s8A so far-  So I kept thinking of s8A in writers’ perspective. Just trying to see where some plots are going. I just realized s8A is about Rick’s “plan”. Crazy thing is the fans don’t know much of it. Just some basic things or mentioned throughout the season. First four episodes were about them putting heard of walkers around Sanctuary and trapping the Saviors inside the building. Then Rick (originally with Daryl?) goes to the Scavengers/Jadis to make a deal again and to show them that TF can kill them if they disagree, and show proof that Saviors are weak-losing team of the war. And it was subtle..The leaders and everyone else was to meet up at Sanctuary to fight against the Saviors.
So s8A is about Rick’s “plan” and then writers like to add conflict to Rick’s “plan” arc with the whole characters stuff about the prison of war, Shiva death/Kingdom, being emotional-going rogue.(Daryl, Tara, Morgan),which the writers believe add conflict to Rick’s “plan”/TF.  Plus, on the side, Carl’s plot with Siddiq, Rick’s visions..etc.
I don’t know what or how the Rick’s “plan” arc will end. Will it end in S8A or finale. Like Rick’s “plan” is actually the whole war plan and not part of the war plan.  So, it kinda makes me feel a better, so far, to know that there’s some conclusion to this plot and that we will understand it (partly?) better in MSF. Because of how the story structure goes. beginning middle ending.
I wish/hope writers explain why TF keep not listening to Rick and it seems like they keep doing that. It’s similar to s6B except it wasn’t on anyone’s plan. It’s some weak plot device, I guess, because fans keep complaining. Idk. I don’t see it that way because that’s just how stories goes...to get moving the story along. It’s some plot device when TF does something stupid just to get TF to where they become Negan’s lineup(s6finale). In s7, it was TF/ASZ doing their own thing and not working together, going against Rick’s lead, which was all leading to more trouble and deaths till s7 MSF.#riseup( and Sasha’s death.) They all finally work together and got faith. In s8A, it’s like writers are doing that plot again, with TF not following Rick’s “plan”, not working together as a team because they don’t agree on how to end the war and they think there’s better ways to end it too. Also, emotional things too like death of Shiva and Eric etc. Zeke won’t get out of his theater to meet Rick, Daryl/Tara went rogue, Aaron/Enid went somewhere else. The conflict is out. I guess that means ...Rick’s “plan” won’t work or it will work. Something else will happen.-S8B. (i thought of all this cos i see hate on Daryl and it kinda confuses me. Daryl didn’t repeat his actions. He’s just stubborn and quick to fight. s6b-trying to find dwight/captured. no one had to go with him..&leading up as the Negan’s lineup. s7-”killing” glenn and being prisoner at Sanctuary was all uh lead to man-pain and that also lead to s8-kill rage ..which this arc makes these characters so unlikable and do dumb stuff. But, in the end, the character will come back what they use to be and find forgiveness and peace or whatever. Maybe Daryl fighting Rick in 8x05 will lead something major. Maybe Rick will drift apart even more or they will make up later on. So, when Daryl screwed up Rick’s plan w/Jadis, that’s there will be some Rickyl plot to happen later on.)
8x07- It’s mostly a Eugene, Rick-Scavengers, and Daryl’s rogue team. Carl wasn’t in the ep. There wasn’t any big foreshadowing or so in the episode. But some scenes reminds me of TF at the Prison. Like when the herd went inside the Sanctuary, and Rick using the rifle gun. Some Comic Gabe mentions too. Also this episode was like a transition/filler episode. I actually liked the episode than I thought based on the spoilers. There were character moments I enjoyed. Even though fandom hates Daryl (not Morgan n Tara) and hates the pace n the war, but I liked the character-y moments. Even though it can be frustrating from ur fave character. I really love Michonne and Daryl’s scene. It’s like bittersweet and angsty. It’s sad Daryl and others can’t stick together with this plan-that is they’re working and doing it. It’s also kinda like omg sadz, Michonne going back to ASZ cos that’s where shit will happen. What Rick did to get Scavengers on his side and beating Winslow Jr. was cool and seems reasonable to me for why he wants them on their side and his threat to them if they don’t. I do kinda hope MIchonne saves him and have a Richonne moment but, this scene showed how strong Rick is. What Rick saw that there’s no herd surrounding the sanctuary which was what others did that made that happen, is all foreshadowing for Saviors showing up at ASZ to where Carl dies. It kind of reminds me of s6 and the herd going into ASZ. s8 reminds me a lot of s6.
I still don’t know why writers have TF not on the same page sometimes and going against Rick’s plan, but I’ll say it’s not exactly “repeated” like before but, it’s same as just going against Rick again. idk. It also shows that they can think of themselves, Rick isn’t god. I guess Michonne went against Rick for a bit but still in-character, she explained and thought why she doesn’t wanna do what Daryl team wants to do. ^
I think it’s subjective on what u think is bad writing or not. It’s subjective if you think it’s just characters doing “ooc” moments to get to the endpoint for the plot, because that’s what imo, any writers do. On what Daryl’s team did and what Eugene did, that led to Saviors escaped and fighting against TF in MSF where Carl dies. IMO, I don’t think it’s too OOC or too tropey ..and characters doing stuff to get to the point of the plot. I think the writers did it well enough to show TF struggling and making trouble that led to Carl’s death. So far, I don’t blame Daryl and his team. I don’t blame Eugene. I guess if I really want to blame someone in a harsh way, it would be Eugene. But, this plot just seems like an accident or just whatever it was gonna happen. idk the spoilers exactly but I’m assuming Carl dies from savior. Savior/the war is most blamed on ofc. Carl could even be bitten by a walker in ep 6. This fandomwank is similar to like saying “I blame Aaron because he led the Wolves into ASZ.” So, ofc Daryl is getting a lot of hate. haters gonna hate. But, if in the story, Daryl is blamed, then yeah Daryl ofc would feel guilty and stuff and like maybe there’s some other plot that the writers have in mind. Evil-Daryl? Daryl moves away ASZ? etc. I don’t think it’s bad writing..it’s just what the writers planned and showed buildup and foreshadowing to it. That seems to good to me. It’s interesting that during s8A, the ones who wanna kill all saviors, are teamed up. TF split away, Rick’s plan was going well and then shit will happen..like what we suspect? from Rick’s vision...all to the mid season finale.
-12/5 pre-MSF I notice right away, AMC and TTD’s Hardwick mentioned a shocking moment in MSF. They promoted a bit but seems so jarring and like yeah ..woke the fandom there. The trailer and the promo pics, are focusing on Carl/Grimes 2.0. I liked that. Carl looks grown and looking like Rick and being like a leader. ‘It’s Carl’s show’ I think the writers are gonna do justice for Carl in the way I hope for.The online fandom seems to already know about the spoiler death. I liked that most seem to know and to prepare for the big death and the big change of the show. Either way, it’s like saying goodbye to the old premise show, the s1-8a-show and it’s just sad.
-Idk what it is, lately(close to msf), I’m seeing positive kind of posts and meta posts. And, seeing those promo pics is making me excited again about this show. I think the msf is gonna be a good episode or what Gimple and writers will do their best on this episode.
-I’m curious on what the msf’s title means or who says it. “How It’s Gotta Be”
-So I read the speculations on spanish translations-spoilers. Idk if its true.... but it reminds me of how TWD’s pattern of giving a cliffhanger in bad timing sometimes. They suck at it. Like s6 msf, s6 finale(though that didn’t bother me). I like how they did s7msf and s7f. I really didn’t like s6msf where it was just them in the herd and that’s it. Anyways, in s8 msf, there’s a chance of the audience learning about Carl’s bitten..or dying and other stuff. Then winter hiatus to s8 msp, we get that emotionally resolution of Carl, Carl’s death. So, I hope it’s not so annoying..and there’s something that we will know about. Like, we will know Carl will be/is dead. Not,”someone is gonna die.”Also, like a chance again of more fandomwank/hating on writers on if it’s a badly written cliffhanger. Waiting sucks = hiatus sucks. It’s hard..writers want to put a winter finale and then there’s the Feb~ratings grab- mid season premiere. 2 big episodes in that way. I just want a well written episode and respect toward characters.
8x08/MSF- “How It’s Gotta Be”
ok so i already made some posts and reblogged some posts about the episode and carl.
IMO, I really liked the intense episode on how they focused Carl as a hero of ASZ. Great family-sad ending with the sewerage tunnel scene. I know the majority hated that Carl will die, but for me at the moment, I’m interested on what the other characters will do (Richonne) and see if I will like this new show’s premise will go. Me and everyone will know more in ep 9. (btw im glad it’s not msf cliffhanger.)  It’s also kinda makes it exciting and different between comcis and the tv show....and story trope? ‘father and son and he lost his son.’  we know for sure  Basically what i had thought since 8x01 is still the same. Of course things could change in s8B if carl’s death and absence really bothers me. I know Carl is the heart the of show but Rick is who I keep watching for.\
Also, so far with writing-wise, there’s 2 things i look for. Respect character and if the premise still make sense or transitioned it well-or I’m still interested in the show and the whole series. I feel like the respecting the character part was well. I do think they planned it since 8x01 and gave moments of forshadowings, callbacks, and seeing how much Carl had grown and being like a better man than Rick. Plus, that Carl lead ASZ safe from Negan’s battle. Now, I’m waiting for the hard part with the premise part and ..we will see and know more in ep 9. I know that it already divide the fandom and all that. (interestingly it already did since s8 began. the fandom wank. idk i guess people don’t like AOW and future stories of TWD or war stories. blah..fandom wank and that just usual old show hate.)
