#rat rambles#splat posting#thinking SO hard abt my salmonid hcs rn#specifically abt deep sea salmonids/king salmonids#specifically abt their lifecycles and role in the eyes of salmonid society#in my minds eye colosal salmonid typically occure as a result of some genetic mutation either from birth or as a result of smth else going#haywire in their spagetti code genes#basically it makes them never stop growing#typically they start out serving the roles of big shots or steel heads but as they keep growing their role changes significantly#for a good while they serve the same role as cohozuna and if they survive long enough they get a colosal salmon exclusive experience of#basically getting to retire and be cared for and pampered by the other salmonid#normally this would be considered very cowardly and disrespectful but for deep sea salmonid specifically they get the free pass partially#because as they grow larger typically their health suffers but mostly its because theyre seen as a build up to the ultimate return to the#sea and circle of life as their jobs basically become to be the tastiest meals to the life at the seas floor when they die#basically become the ultimate whale drop lol#theyre treated with a lot of respect for this reason and are regarded very highly by most#way back when cohozuna was revealed I said that they would be a very small deep sea salmonid I wasnt joking btw in my mind these guys get#HUGE like to the point that they make cohozuna look like a pebble#theres usually only very few deep sea salmonid at any given time since theyre quite rare to occor in the first plave let alone live long#enough for their mutation to truly show but there are a handlfull still#the sea is very big and salmonids are plentiful (for now) so its not like they dont have the room to have several#anyways thats been my splatoon ramble card cash in time to melt
