finished watching netflix atla! i think the hate is unjustified lol like all that hate seems a little too intense for what i think the show missed. it didn't hit all the same notes as the original show, yeah, so i'm not sure it quite succeeds as an adaptation, but as a standalone show it's pretty good. and i might have some gripes with the characterization, but there was love in the casting and in the costumes and the world, and that goes a long way for me.

i think there’s nothing more pretentious than the category of “cult” movies. just admit they’re trash but it’s a kind of trash you personally enjoy, just like each one of us is doing. no need to morally elevate some movies like “the thing” or “cube” just because they have a vague existential theme underneath all the trash. they’re just trash, literally no one in the production (aside from maybe the director) gave a shit or poured an ounce of pride or heart in them at all. i can excuse everything in art except not caring. i’m happy that you liked them but they’re just trash. it’s fine, i also like things that are just trash, but i call them what they are: trash.

sometimes I feel like I've overcorrected on the unhealthy relationships in media thing because there is so much nauseating bullshit out there that people present as aspirational, which is kind of a shame because a lot of the most interesting fictional relationships are absolute nightmares and it's a real gift to see them appreciated by people who understand the nuances and the appeal

Right wingers being obsessed with the matrix isn't embarrassing because it was made by trans women, it's embarrassing because the matrix is a deeply silly movie. I feel like this is a point that's gotten lost over the years. the matrix is goofy as all get out and it's very funny that so many people have based their deranged quasifacist ideology on a movie where lawrence fishburn teaches keaunu reeves to fly

ok there are (rightfully) so many posts about the misogyny in feeling required to wear a full face of makeup every day, and the makeup industry, etc. but where are the ones about the skincare part of that specifically? the girlies that have a 7 step skincare routine in the morning and then another 10 step routine before bed and a fucking mini refrigerator just for all their skincare products. and who bully and put down other women who Don't subscribe to this and also have "bad" skin (i.e., blemishes, acne, etc.)

I want to know where that Anon get their dimiclaude fics with Rhea positivity. Anon, please drop a link. Every single dimiclaude fics I have read so far always bash Rhea. Rhea is universally a villain in fics. I'm desperate for something that is not.

I hear ya, nonnie. Basically any Houses fic I've read either doesn't have her or she's not really portrayed well. I read like, one fic that had all the characters in it, generally speaking, and Rhea was handled kinda well? But also like, wasn't an important character and it was an AU (and is a fic that is probably not to everyone's taste, i.e. dead dove content unrelated to Rhea).

I've yet to actually find any fics period, ship or not, that have her included or where she's not getting at least a side eye. Personally I'm not a fan of Edelgard but I've had her in AUs and will continue to where she's not a, or the, villain. Seems like it's difficult for people to even find that much for Rhea.

Guess I'll have to do that shit myself.
