Acting too long from this state may cause stress, tension, anxiety and inability to relax. Alpha Waves – This state is the gap between conscious thinking and the subconscious mind. It is associated with creativity and positive emotions. Long term activity can block alpha causing anxiety and insomnia. Theta Waves – This state is associated with relaxation, sleep and daydreaming. The benefits are improving intuition, inspiration and it plays an important role in restoration of the body and mind. Delta Waves – Also called the flow state. More commonly found in young children, these waves are produced during profound sleep, extase and deep meditation. Delta frequencies revitalize the body, reset the mind and awake healing properties. Meditation and relaxation techniques help the brain to move from beta to other frequencies and experience feelings associated with oneness, happiness and compassion and to a higher processing of cognitive function. If you don’t know how to meditate and you are open to learn I advice you to start with a meditation class/instructor to help you get the basics of it. Meditating is not always as easy as it looks and having the support of an experienced guide can go a long way to help you over the initial resistance. There are many forms of meditation.
