Gavi, Nest Warden: Now with 100% more Runes!

Okay, let's be honest here. Is Gavi, Best Warden the best C20 deck out of the box? It's pretty close between her and Snapdax, but Fierce Guardianship comes in this deck, so Gavi wins there.
Now, do you like drawing cards? Do you want to watch your friends get salty as you "play Magic" without doing anything? Does the thought of turning 3/4 of your deck into card advantage send you to your happy place? Gavi is the deck for you.
First thing I did? Minimize useless cycling costs. So most of anything with double mana symbols, extremely large cycling costs with little payout- all gone. In went things that have 2 colorless mana: we want to maximize Fluctuator when we see it, and making cycling costs free is a huge part of how we get away with not actually playing Magic, as it were.
Almost everything draws cards. Mana rocks? Card advantage. Unused spells? Card advantage. We LOVE drawing cards. Drawing makes us creatures. Drawing deals damage. Drawing (obviously) puts more cycling in our hand, which draws more cards, which...
You get it.
The Runes are a personal touch: Circle of Protection is always good, but a CoP that can turn into something else if I don't need it? Even better.
Basically? Get out a sleeper threat or two. Play lands. Draw your deck. Win.

i’m reading the secret history and i’m so frustrated
#im consumed with negative emotions when i read it#i had fo take a break#the characters r just so unlikeable?? the twins r an enigma and as a reader u kno next to nothinf about them so im more interested in them#but i got some incestuous vibes from them and sfter reading reviewx it confirmed it#also henry??? hes so cold and calculating in book 1 i liked his charcter but then the whole plannig bunnys murder#and the overall lack of remorse is so chilling like bunny was a dick im not that bent bout his death but#like obviously they do feel guilty bc their relationship wit heach other is slowly disintergrating and they r all just spiralling#i think maybe francis is the only character that i slighlty like ??#idk bout richard idk how i feel bout him wnd the whole narratiom#anyways long story short this is the first time i read a book where it feels like a chore (like skme oarts r rlly jnteresting and then some#are so bornf and franklh unecessady its just filled with them drinking alcovol and being pretentious which is the whole point ik but holy)#idk where tf im going with this thot but lets hope the last 200 or so pages change my mind#rn im too frustrated to continue#as u can see im typing on mu ohone snd autocorrect doesnt work on tags so pretty sure most of why i saix is slightly incoherent i tried#i guess im not a fan of dark academia stories?? i mean i likeed theraven cycle mainly blue but she wasnt oretentious anx in private school#and the characters in trc were likeable and their relationshio sjth ewch other was refrshing but the secret history oh man#i kinda like how they r soiralling as an aftermath of bunnys myrder its interwsting to see its toll on each of the characters in book 2 but#they r just so ..... unlikeable
