Just in time for the end of Pride Month, @lilmissrantsypants and I dusted off and polished up an old short story we were working on for the Rhine City series about Gabby coming out as asexual! Here's that story, though please keep the disclaimer in mind. There are some spoilers for the events of books 1` and 2, as well as some things that aren't as evident or are outright missing in the current draft.

One thing that really sucks right now is how I'm coming up with all sorts of solutions to plot holes and inconsistencies in the Rhine City book while I'm bored at work, and I can't implement any of them until Draft #3. It's frustrating. I want to fix and polish stuff now, goddamit!

One of the things I’m most excited for come draft 3 of Rhine City is Eve’s reworked backstory. The awkward transition from villain in draft 1 to sympathetic and tragic figure in the current draft has led to a lot of inconsistency, but now I truly have a handle on her and can’t wait to show you the tragedy I’ve inflicted on her!

The big bit of fairy lore is that fairies are all basically amorphous shapeshifting blobs at birth, and are randomly given a folkloric or mythological concept to latch onto and take the form of; it can be as broad as “generic fairy” or as specific as a very random mythical figure. A fairy’s power is only as great as how many mortals are aware of the myth they take the form of. A fairy with a well-known form has great strength, while obscure myths lead to the fairy being weak and frail and eventually fading away.
Of course, things can easily turn around; as an anon suggested long ago, there is a fairy who was based on a legend so obscure they nearly faded away… and then the legend was featured in a gacha game and they came back stronger than ever as a scantily clad young woman with massive breasts.

Something has been bugging me for a while, but I couldn’t figure out what… and then I realized… WE NEVER POSTED CHAPTER 13!
We’ve had this done and posted for a while, but @lilmissrantsypants and I forgot to post it here on Tumblr, probably because of how hectic it has been at home. But here it is to tide you over until we finish up chapter 14!
The episodes of this chapter are as follows:
Sierra, David, and Armstrong hang out, and Sierra learns a thing or two about her guy friends.
Jemima is forced to make a difficult decision if she wants answers about… well, anything really.
Aiden learns even more about the bizarre experiences his boyfriend has been through.
Gabby alerts her family about Jack’s approach.
Roarke and Rose take a trip into Jerrod’s mind.
Akina shoots her shot.
Minerva has a chat with Debra about the upcoming meeting with Rika.
The Loomer Street Gang have a meeting to discuss the night’s next act of vigilantism.
Rika gets the gang in to their target’s house without a hitch… and then things get even more Easy for her.
Any comments and feedback are greatly appreciated! Please keep in mind this is only the second draft, and while it’s closer to what we want out of the story there’s still plenty we want to improve. I for one constantly am thinking back on things and how certain characters don’t know things they should or are kept out of the loop for no reason. But yeah, any questions, comments, or whatever are great! Just don’t be an asshole.

Episode 2 of the Rhine City podcast starring my wife @lilmissrantsypants and I is here! Thanks to the suggestion from @belles--rose, I ramble incoherently about the world’s lore for twenty minutes while my wife actually manages to stay focused, clear, and concise! I reveal some pretty obvious facts about Amon and Rhine City, my wife details Jemima’s origins, and then we talk about the realms of angels and demons (as well as some angel lore)!

My wife and I are still working on the Rhine City books, it’s just that we’ve been putting off the main plot until the summer when we can focus more attention to it. We’ve been doing a lot of character workshopping on the side. I’ve also been cooking up some tentative worldbuilding for Elfame, realm of the Fae. So yeah, we ain’t dead, we’re just resting a bit!
