Getting pulled into Ace Attorney so new au.

-

Kazuki was a lawyer and killed by Giovanni, leaving Hibiki and Ken as suspects.

Red is an ex lawyer, and Blue is an ex prosecutor. Still trying to figure out everything else along with Leaf's role and a future role for Blue.

Hibiki is a lawyer who trained with his father, wanting to be like him, and gets mentored by Red after Kazuki died. Ken is just trying to be a baker or electrician but gets accused of murder.

Silver and Galena were forced to be prosecutors by Giovanni and went with it to be better than him. Silver takes the role of defense when Hibiki is unable to, and with his sister, they land Giovanni in jail. Galena also raised Silver, so he's nicer but still very sassy.

Lyra and Krystal are spirit mediums and have the unfortunate fate of Dolos being their brother in this au. Dolos gets his ass landed in prison, too. Yes, this means Ken ate glass here.

The plot is different but still very alike to that in Ace Attorney. The differences come from the character's personalities and roles not quite matching those in the games to a T.

Silver and Hibiki are childhood friends, too. They met during one of the times Silver and Galena sneaked out of the house. Can't have gay lawyer au without gay lawyers.

actually since the concept of parallel universes within the pokémon universes is. canon and all. and those universes sometimes overlap. what do you guys think of the idea that sometimes gsc ethan and silver have this idea that someone Else is supposed to be there with them but they're never sure who. because both of their older siblings got scrapped from the spaceworld demo but in their world they've never even known anyone like that. so it's like. who could they even be missing?

Actually, Ken, in my au goes through some wild character development.

He starts off very social and upbeat. He was talkative and very much willing to make friends. He befriended Galena immediately after meeting her. Although he doesn't really defend himself, he'll gladly fight to defend those he cares about.

Then, after Hibiki became Champion and the Dolos shit, he suddenly became quiet. He avoided social situations and only talked to people he already knew. Due to the bullying he received, his self-esteem took a toll, and he lost the confidence he once had. He didn't have any idea of what he wanted to do with his life, and it stressed him out. For a while, he tried to be like Red and Hibiki because that's what the public expected of him, even though his family would tell him he should try to do what he himself wanted to do.

He's in Paldea now, going to Naruva Academy with Galena, who helped him make friends with the group who went to Area Zero. He's got high emotional walls, but he's learning to lower them and trust people again. He's shy but friendly once he realizes he can trust you. He's learning to finally stick up for himself and following his own path instead of trying to be like his brother and cousin.

I feel like prior to meeting anyone in the Paldea gang, Ken survives on shit like instant ramen and microwave sandwiches

Just instant food that's quick to make because he's tired and doesn't care enough about himself to put effort into making himself something.

Over time you see less of those wrappers in his dorm room.

Kitchen remains consistently clean and organized though, even when the rest of his room isn't

It's less of the fact that he's not the same, it's just that side of him doesn't show much anymore unless he actually trusts you and considers you a friend, which is a challenge to begin with considering his trust issues.

Something consistent I've seen with Ken is that he always cares so much about his brother, and in Reforged, he cared more about his brother possibly getting hurt in the radio tower despite the fact he was literally being held hostage

Care for his family, putting others before himself

From what little dialog we have of him, he's got a clear personality, or at least a clear part of his personality that just makes him so lovable and unironically my favorite character
