The Isley Brothers have sold over 18 million units in the United States alone. With their first major hit charting in 1959 ("Shout"), and their last one in 2001 ("Contagious"), they are among the few groups ever to have hit the Billboard Hot 100 with new music in six different decades. Sixteen of their albums charted in the Top 40 and thirteen of those albums have been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum by the RIAA. The brothers have been honored by several musical institutions, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which inducted them in 1992. Five years later, they were added to Hollywood's Rockwalk, and in 2003 they were inducted to the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. They received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

Pelle Pelle by Marc Buchanan, established in 1978 in Detroit, Michigan—my city—was originally designed to make a mark in the outerwear industry.

However, it achieved far more than that. With a legacy that spans over 46 years, the brand has become a staple in urban streetwear and has revolutionized leather apparel. I had a lot of fun playing around with this.

Thank you to the beautiful Madison Star for being the muse for this project, and for allowing me to express my creativity through her. I saw those photos from her shoot and instantly thought— “ this is giving me The Source Magazine, 2003. “ and I had to take it there. I love everything she’s doing, and she’s the sweetest soul. Absolutely pure joy! Strangely, Motown didn’t release the Isley Brother’s version of this song written by Stevie Wonder and Ivory Joe Hunter until the early 70s. The northern soul people discovered it and brought it back from obscurity
