BEWARE OF "body mod advices" - they can be dangerous and LETHAL.

(this post was about a deactivated blog but extends to any possible future blog like it)

edit3 since he deactivated: Red told me in the DMs that he WILL be more careful about all this risk stuff, I believe he is going to do better. Im sure he's a good person and he also was extremely civil in the DMs. Since he's not here to defend himself anymore I'll gladly take his side and say that despite this mess, all Red wanted to do was indeed reduce harm and potentially save lives. Good luck on all your endeavors, Red, I wish you a beautiful and successful career and that you have a great positive impact in the atypical dysphoria community, both on and offline. I don't know how my post truly impacted you, I'm so sorry if you're feeling bad. You acted the best way you possibly could.

Red claimed to be "a non-professional surgeon, planning on getting better with practice." Bad move!

Red has told me he's pursuing a medical degree and won't actually do non-qualified surgery.

Red: "The blog is centered around an idea of "extreme" body mods that I would like to explore further, [...] things like breaking and re-mending bones, creating new joints, replacing skin, etc."

My point: the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and your blog was unsafe.

To any possible counterarguments: "But they (people following/asking advice) know the risks!" That's victim-blaming. Red gave himself the responsibility to give harm-reducing advice, but he didn't do a good job.

"But I know the risks!" You can't possibly know the risks because Red doesn't know either or "kinda knows" but has not properly informed his audience, it didnt give sources, oversimplified their advice and failed to provide accurate information about risk. Or gave plain misinformation.

Again I'm not transid, I can't possibly imagine what you're going through in order to try anything at all to feel better, including trying experimental surgery not legally available or not researched at all. However, please please please do not become a victim of medical deceit or whatever tf it's called. Even if the blog owner tries their best to be reliable.

They might sound confident, but they do not know what they are saying, what they're telling others to do.

Ask: "How would I make my skin gray without tattoos?" (DO NOT SHAME THIS USER BTW)

STOP!!! DONT FOLLOW THIS ADVICE!!! DONT OVER-EXPOSE YOURSELF TO SILVER!!! "Silver toxicity causes argyria. Silver toxicity occurs when too much silver is in your body." <- from a simple research on "too much silver in blood"

THE RESULT WILL BE ARGYRIA. EVEN IF YOU DO IT SLOWLY, YOU ARE BUILDING UP A HEAVY METAL IN YOUR BODY. THE GREY SKIN IS NOT PRETTY NOR WITHOUT GRUESOME SIDE SYMPTOMS.

Yall. Anything in excess will fuck up your body, including iron, vitamins, and silver.

To whoever asked Red, I don't know your mind, but I'm sure you'd love to live a happy life with grey skin! You'd love to have a body you're comfortable with and looks rad as hell! But you wouldn't be able to enjoy it if you're deeply sick with ARGYRIA, WHICH IS WHAT RED'S ADVICE WILL GIVE YOU!

Ask: "How do I get darker skin without going too dark? I’m pale and burn easily, I just want a color similar to Lin Manuel Miranda" (AGAIN DONT HARASS THIS USER)

Red: [...] "expose yourself to the sun more! As you do this, you'll get tan which will protect you from future burns and make your skin slightly darker, do this enough and you can engineer your skin to be as dark as you want!"

THATS MISINFORMATION! Yes you may tan to get darker (Lin's tone may or may not be achievable to you) but one: it's not permanent unless you're constantly going out; two: SKIN CANCER!!!! DONT OVER-EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THE SUN!!!! USE SUNSCREEN!!

TO ANYONE SEEKING A MUCH DARKER TONE: YOU CAN'T "GO AS DARK AS YOU WANT TO" BY TANNING. Just look at people who have lived their whole lives outdoors like farmers! White people can't tan to black! There's a limit to how tan you may get! Are you seriously gonna risk skin cancer for an impossible thing???

Red: "Self amputation is really dangerous! You should learn how to use a tourniquet, that way, you can stop the bleeding! [...]" WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR SOURCES, RED?

If anyone reading this is seriously thinking of amputating themselves, and will not change their minds no matter what, please just have someone immediately drive you to the hospital. I do not support such operation and you can still die or get horribly sick even with your best precautions, but you better receive actual medical attention and stay alive rather than trying to heal it yourself. Because what you'll most likely get from following Red's advice is DEATH FROM BLOOD LOSS. Again, if you absolutely cannot get rid of this dysphoria with therapy, or manage it at least, or have a doctor do it for you, I still would NEVER suggest you do it yourself, but IF you end up doing that then at least please go straight to the hospital instead of trying to heal it yourself.

Red: "do not try and break your own bones to make modifications! [...] Get another person (Like myself) to help you with the bone breakage instead."

NO ONE KNOWS WTF THEY'RE DOING. YOUR FRIEND DOESN'T. RED DOESN'T (as they advertised in the post). NO ONE IS GOING TO GET MODIFICATIONS LIKE THIS. NO ONE IS GOING TO BE HAPPY. EVERYONE IS GOING TO BE EITHER IN PAIN, RISK OF HORRIBLE INJURIES OR TROUBLE WITH THE LAW. FUCKING AROUND = GUARANTEED BOTCHED OPERATION.

Also, now that Red has clarified she won't perform surgery until having an actual degree, you can't really go to her XD

Red: "Some advice for surgery [...] This one's important, make sure your patient is strapped down and properly sedated, if they move, even slightly, you risk hitting a vital artery or organ, if you do hit an artery, don't panic, this is why you learned how to use a tourniquet! if you hit a vital organ though, odds are you won't know how to fix that, so be extra careful with abdomen and face surgery!"

Thats still promoting medical malpractice, mutilating and potentially killing friends, dangerously downplaying surgery so much, this is not harm-reduction

Ask: "I want to be blind in one eye, but more-so in the sense of extreme but not total vision loss. I want to do something permanent in the future!" (AGAIN DONT HARASS THIS USER)

Red: Well, a simple fix to your problem is just get some calcium hydroxide in your eye and wash it out a few minutes later, this should lead to permanent, extreme (but not total) vision loss in that eye. Keep it in too long and it can cause total vision loss so be careful!

Ok so, it's great that you're trying to come up with alternative ways for users not to kill themselves by gouging their eyes out, but you've still failed to give them the full picture

From a quick search "calcium hydroxide in the eyes": Exposure to the skin can produce burns, painful irritation and necrosis, and exposure to the eyes may cause severe pain and vision loss that can be temporary or permanent. If calcium hydroxide is exposed to the skin, contaminated clothing should be removed, excess amounts of the chemical should be wiped off and the affected skin should be flushed repeatedly with water. Victims of calcium hydroxide exposure to the eyes should flush their eyes with water continuously for the first 15 minutes, but all cases of external exposure should receive immediate medical care. Inhaling calcium hydroxide through the nose or mouth can also cause immediate, painful and potentially life-threatening complications. Throat and nasal passages may become painful and swollen, and the swelling may restrict airways, making breathing difficult or impossible. If the calcium hydroxide particles are carried all the way to the lungs, this may further complicate breathing. Victims of this type of exposure should be taken immediately to a fresh air environment, and emergency services should be contacted right away. Administration of oxygen and emergency respiratory assistance may be required.

Red (answering an ask): "the question shouldn't be what DO people replace their skin with, it should be what CAN they, after all, just because it's never been practiced or very rarely practiced doesn't mean it's bad or impossible! Of course, my personal favorite skin substitutes are rubber and red velvet, I am also a big fan of stainless steel."

(Don't promote such an operation). THIS OPERATION IS BAD AND IMPOSSIBLE TO SUCCEED. SKIN CAN ONLY BE REPLACED WITH SKIN. SKIN IS A LIVING ORGAN. ANY OTHER SUBSTITUTE WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOSE BODY PARTS OR DIE.

YOU KNOW HOW PEOPLE WITH TRANSPLANTS NEED LIFE-LONG MEDICAL ATTENTION SO THEIR BODY DOESN'T REJECT IT? HOW TF WILL YOU DO THIS WITH FUCKING RED VELVET?

The foreigner that appeared out of thin air was both a headache and a stress reliever for Al haitham.

One one hand how does one live such a mundane life for them to leave no traces behind yet somehow amass such a great and vast quantity of knowledge the own dendro archon wanted a personal meeting.

No matter where he went, how he asked or even who he asked al-haitham couldn't get a solid background. Yes, there seemed to be enough proof that you might have came from a lone village, some people think hearing baby cries and toddlers babbles around a seemingly desserted cabin, yet the local school held no record of you being enrolled, all 10 children there not matching your profile.

After months of searching there seems ti be only one answer. A natural prodigy that learned everything from scratch and some books people would leave on their tables.

After all, beggars can't be choosers and he assigns you the title of great sage. One down he guesses, less job left to do.

Traveler didn't seem too freaked out about it after all a natural prodigy was one of the more normal sounding things in his life right now. Up until a meeting nahida offered to take him.

"So you know everything" He asked breaking the silence that was formed long before they came. In a way he was assuring you were aware of their presence, too engrossed measuring some herbs that later he would find out were tea leaves.

" If you know so much, then you must know where my sister is." He sits straight as if already knowing you won't tell him straightforward

You take your time to answer, pouring everyone a cuo" I can't tell you that just yet" you squeeze the slice of lemon over your cup, slowly turning from blue to purple " that information isn't available to me just yet, my abilities have a limit. You know?"

Aether looks up, eyes blown wide. Your patience preceded you, seeing you snap like that took him off guard. He leaves just as you ordered as does paimon

You stand up and walk to the bedroom, your last meeting already done seeming and already tired of tomorrows occurrences, surely al-haitham would come first thing in the morning, asking about some niche subject, a few of the akademia students would come with the same problem as the others, and maybe if you were lucky you would get to walk around and help a seller or an ermite with a mundane inconvenience, get lunch and go on with a lazy life.

If only you could skip over to lunch everyday.

Just as you guessed at 6:30 on the dot al-haitham was knocking down on your door, and next to him was another test you guessed

" Morning. Hope you rested well" just as always he found you prepping the breakfast

" Thanks. I hope you slept well too"

" Today I just need you to name some plants I got. This test was specifically made by the biology branch and the forest rangers so i will be checking your answers with the piece of paper that was provided" you buttered a toast, sprinkling some spices over it

" They said these are the easiest ones, so let's get them out of the way"

A sunssettia, an apple and an harra fruit were set behind you. Just as you thought about it a screen appeared over each of them and you just read it out

" I thought that you came over for a test, not a chat. I would have accepted your offering if you asked me out, scribe, you don't have to beat around the bush" you tease him, if he wasn't so stuck up you would have kissed him already.

" Hush" he places two leaves, one rounder and wider and other thin and long. Immediately two pages pop up. "They said these were a bit too specific so don't force it too much"

" Is the first one a liyue money plant?" Al-haitham nods lightly " and the other is citronella"

" Very well. All of them are right. Just as yesterday" you just smile mockingly

" Did you expect anything else from me?" He sighs and grabs a toast

" It's to make sure. How much cayenne did you add to the paste, i think it's too overbearing"

" Just 5 grams or so" you were already expecting that he wouldn't be content with the expected questions

" And this weighs around 340 grams" he weighs the bowl with one hand. He looks at you " how much of this dip is cayenne pepper? Quick"

A red and white page opens up, you quickly input a simple reason:

Automatically the answer pops up in a red square

" Around 1.47%. Either way that bowl is a bit heavy so it could be a bit higher"

" It could be. Are you sure you only used 5 grams? It is a bit too spicy for breakfast.

" Well, goodbye. I hope tomorrow you will welcome me with something more edible." he grabs the leaves and papers he spread around the table before tucking them in his bag

"Even a baby could it this" you make fun of him "oow, is the little baby sad? Do you want milk or a change of diapers?"

" I think it is enough with your jokes" he seems irritated but deep down you know he find it funny

" If there is anyone outside, tell them I won't wake up until around 8." You beg him. You just want one breakfast without correcting an undergrad thesis

" I will. Don't worry"

He leaves and for a second you hold your breath.

5 seconds without someone knowing on your door. It feels like a dream. Grabbing an idli and a spoon with the spicy dip you slowly fill the idli before eating it. As soon as you swallow you are interrupted again

" Great sage! I beg you to please review my thesis" another student comes knocking on your door with tears in their eyes. If haven't gone through the pain they are suffering you would have kicked them out

" Let me have a look then" you must have sounded really annoyed given how quickly the student brought it out.

As soon as you open it a word- like document appears in front of it. The grammatical errors are in red, the orthographic mistakes in yellow and the things that were wrong fundamentally were highlighted in purple

" Fundamentally you made no mistakes, everything is true. But you should check these sentences." You tap the handle edge of the spoon against the paper where the document was marked red

" It could be read better as 'Its object is a practical one, to determine by scientific considerations the shape of lens best adapted to improve the capabilities of the telescope, which had been invented not long before.' Maybe you could expand on this and it would be very interesting to see this too " you write some annotations on a spare napkin.

" !!! Thanks a lot grand sage" she grabs the napkins and looks over them before reaching for the door

" Hey kid!" She looks over her shoulder " make sure to eat something. You almost blacked out standing up too fast " she smiles and waves you goodbye

As soon as she left a merchant dressed in fine silks marches in, you already knew him, he already visited you with questions about investments

" Mhm? Why are you visiting again? Having questions about what to invest in again?" You open and fill another idli and swallow it whole

" Not this time, grand sage!" He laughs loudly " I just wanted to run this by you. It's the estimated budget for the carpets the akademia asked for! " He beams, he might be a bit old, maybe old enough to be your father but he still keeps that youthful shine.

Using the same pen you wrote the notes for the student you write on the back of the sheet " well i kind of remember the prices so let me make a draft and if it's too different return here." Quickly sliding the ink around the paper you form messy words " the price for one of the green carpets was 2000 mora but it was an outdated price so let standardized it with the other merchants and leave it at…" a page displays the prices of certain items, the carpet being " 2300, we want 55 of those so 126500 mora for that. The price of the brown one is a bit more expensive so let's leave it at 2500 leaving us at 226500 total. " You finally take a deep breath giving him the note

The man looks at you, face slightly pale "uh? I- I will compare, if the price is too different i will send you the correct one" he fold the page over itself with the new contents inside before putting it in the pocket of his coat

You look at the wall clock, you just finished breakfast and already want it to be lunch and finish all your duties.

" Well then. Who is next?" You yell to the door trying to pick up the pace. Slowly as the caffeine floods your veins you feel a bit more cheery " let's see who I can help today"

I respect your opinions a lot and I don't mean to argue feel free to ignore this but threatening to withhold your vote to influence government policy is THE basis of democracy. take that away and what leverage do the people have? your vote is between you and yourself. most people making noises about not voting Biden will probably end up voting for him anyway but it's important to at least be able to express dissent and say. here's my line I will not cross. there's an implication in that post that anyone who's threatening to withdraw their vote is privileged and won't suffer any negative consequences from a trump administration that is simply untrue, as many Arab Americans are people of color. loudly shushing and calling out voices on the left who express their disgust with current gvt policy by pointing out that the alternative is worse ultimately in the long run gives a pass to the left to also get worse as long as they don't get on trumps level

Idk. I probably will vote for him. but guilt tripping people who are uncomfortable with genocide ain't it

much like everyone who's not an absolute ghoul, I'm also pretty damn uncomfortable with genocide, so I'm not "guilt tripping" anyone for feeling the same way. I get that I'm being flippant in the tags this ask is about, but that's a very weird and uncharitable interpretation of what I said.

my actual point is that if donald trump becomes president again, it will not improve what's happening in palestine, and in fact will almost certainly worsen it to a significant degree. I say this with full awareness of the despicable misery palestinians are already being subjected to. there's no benefit whatsoever to letting this guy win. even just the idea that allowing republicans to win elections will somehow force democrats to the left in the future is based on like... nothing? it's not what happens; I don't know why people keep imagining that's a thing that regularly occurs in real life.

beyond that, I take issue with the point that this doesn't matter because most of the people saying this stuff will end up voting for biden anyway. I remember how this kind of conversation affected the outcome of the 2016 election. maybe a lot of them will vote for biden, but the thought process expressed in that tweet being constantly put forward in public discourse has a considerable effect on the behavior of the electorate as a whole, and we have very recent evidence of that. it's impossible for me to pretend that this type of shit is harmless. I'm not "shushing" people for saying that US foreign policy on this is disgusting (it is disgusting, it always has been, and saying so is right, which is why I'm doing it too). I'm telling them to stop encouraging people not to vote, because doing so has observable negative impacts.

and to be clear, it's truly not that I don't understand why people feel the way they do about voting for a candidate who's doing bad things - I do get it, I don't think the feelings themselves are wrong or unjustified, and I sympathize. but republicans won't care that they only won because the left was too demoralized to show up, or because the left thought they were taking a principled stance by withholding their votes. they'll fuck things up either way. the negative feelings you have about being stuck voting for shitty democrats are valid, but those feelings, whether motivated by simple empathy or by deeply painful personal experience, don't alter what republicans actually do when they hold public office.

you are an autonomous human being, I'm just some admittedly fallible guy with a tumblr account, and I can't force you to do what I think you should do. but I couldn't possibly disagree more that "threatening to withhold your vote to influence government policy is THE basis of democracy." I think actually weighing in on the available options whenever you have an opportunity is the basis of democracy, and withholding your vote isn't doing that. I think disapproving silence and apathetic silence look exactly the same to an outside observer. I think whoever told you that walking away from the table and letting your opponents make all the decisions is some kind of power move was either malicious or not very bright.

and, respectfully, I am completely certain that you are wrong when you say your vote is between you and yourself. the worldwide material consequences of letting republicans be in charge are worse than the material consequences of letting democrats be in charge, and we have oodles of evidence of this reality available to us. knowingly making a decision that increases the chance of the more dangerous candidate gaining power when it's pretty easy to do the opposite is not a rational or morally defensible choice, even if the less dangerous candidate is still a bastard. even if the intentions that lead someone to that choice are understandable and decent. people are entitled to form their own opinions and act accordingly, but they're not entitled to me praising or ignoring actions that are materially damaging.

which is a very long way of saying that after months of putting up with seeing this nonsense, mostly in polite silence, I think I'm allowed a single, tiny, factually justified wobbly in the tags of a tumblr post containing a screenshot of a dogshit stupid tweet.

As of July 1st, Google Docs is scraping everything written within them for AI, and after finding that out this morning, I decided to research a bit to find an alternative - at least for myself and Kit (kitthekazoo) to use. A few people wanted to know what I found by way of options, and I think I found the program that I, at least, will be using for the foreseeable future - unless my research turns up something bad about this one too.

I'm going to start using Microsoft 365 - a free, online based version of Microsoft Office. Things written within the system on a computer or in a browser, much like Google Docs, will transfer instantly to the app (available for iOS an android), and vice versa. The app even has more formatting options than the Google Docs/Drive apps did, which was my main complaint up until the AI thing. It's a lot easier to tab in just one line of a paragraph - something that couldn't be done on the Google apps - and all of the features are laid out really nicely too, easier to find than just randomly trying different menus ever was.

And like I said, it's free.

There's online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote all within one app. I know that Google used to slow down my phone and kill my battery when I had to have multiple apps downloaded - one for forms, one for documents, one for sheets, and then the Drive app to keep it all together - so I love that it's all in one and neatly integrated. There is a premium version - $7 a month for one person or $10 a month for a family plan of up to six people - which includes the old versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote that you can download to your computer and work offline (I assume that the app is like Google's was, where you can still work in the documents offline, it just won't sync the changes until you have internet again), but those documents won't sync up between there and the app, as far as I'm aware, so I'm perfectly happy with the free version, myself.

And, if you already have a Microsoft account (MSN, Outlook, Hotmail email addresses all count!), you can log in with that, and it will sync everything you have connected to that! My app even synced up with the post-it note app on my old laptop! So I have all these old notes I thought were lost forever, as well as gifset ideas!

Roseblings headcanons updates

Since I've finished the entirety of fWhip's pov around a week ago, I have some updates on some of my previous headcanons. Although a lot of these are really just focused on their childhood.

The twins grew up in the Crystal Cliffs and spent their early years there. Their father preferred they grow up with some fresh air rather than the busy and industrializing Grimlands.

They were very aware of their heritage however. Their father wasn't around for most of the year due to being the viscount and head of the gunpowder industry.

They spent their summers in the Grimlands. Although it wasn't always a luxurious visit despite living in the manor. They'd get dragged around by their father to the family's old gunpowder business and even to some business meetings with other heads of industries.

Other times it's their uncle lecturing them about their future responsibilities. Initially he was very focused on fWhip considering he's the older twin, but soon found him difficult and unpredictable. He then changed his line of succession to Gem due to her more obedient nature compared to fWhip during their younger years.

Gem didn't really enjoyed the Grimlands all that much growing up. It was always overwhelming for her. She preferred the less busy places of the Crystal Cliffs and to stay on their mother's potion business.

She was scared of ever bringing this up but their father was very observant and was instead assured her that he's not upset and he gets it. And that he would be happy regardless of what she wanted in life.

fWhip on the other hand always looked forward to coming to the Grimlands, although the idea of being Count was the least he cared about. I mean, he's like 10 so that makes sense.

He's always after all the shiny new things happening in the busy cities. He always felt like there's so much for him that he could do compared to back home.

fWhip initially had mixed feelings learning about his uncle changing the line of succession. He was confused at first and didn't knew what to make of it. Their father didn't elaborated and seem to refuse to.

But fWhip eventually got berated by their uncle, due to his lack of attention and focus. His uncle wanted big things for the Grimlands and he didn't saw it in fWhip. This affected fWhip heavily and it made the kid question himself since then.

Being the newly assigned heir was a lot of pressure for Gem. At the age of 11 she was already given personal tutoring in the summers. By the next year she was made to move to the manor in the Grimlands permanently to have her focus on being the future Countess.

She was very magically gifted and she received personal magic tutors from the Crystal Cliffs Academy, the most prestigious magic school in all the lands. One of them suggested to her uncle to have her study in the academy instead but was shut down immediately. Her uncle would rather she focused on being Countess.

The magic lessons were always what she looked forward to in her studies. She found out about one of her tutors suggesting her to study in the Crystal Cliffs Academy and a part of her lit up at the thought, she always dreamed of studying there. But all that excitement was put out immediately after learning that she won't be.

fWhip, now left living without Gem by his side developed a sense of insecurity after being removed from heir status. He loved the Grimlands but he didn't cared about all the politics, so why did it hurt? Now he's stuck helping his mother's family in making potions without a Gem to bother.

His mother tried cheering him up but to no avail. He decided to fake being alright just to stop his mother from pestering him about it.

He tried ignoring the whole thing but it was hard when there was a noticeably empty bed across his.

They did wrote to one another. Their father encouraged it. Gem always wrote about her new busy life, while fWhip tells her how nothing much changed in his day. They'll give their pleasantries and after that they don't know what else to write about. They don't know what to ask. Nothing too personal to tell eachother, so they believe. (Tbf, they're both like 12. They don't really know how to navigate their predicament)

And I think I'll leave it at here for a while. This deffo is turning into its own thing now but I really can't stop myself. I want to continue more on this little angst fest developing and explain how did Gem ended up in the Academy. I promise by the time they're adults they've gotten along and are now close.

Why Apostles of Mercy will (likely) have a good ending

(heavy Axiom's End and Truth of the Divine spoilers ahead!!!)

I watched Lindsay Ellis' latest Nebula video about Guy Fieri. It got me thinking about a common theme I've been noticing in her recent videos - sincere storytelling is good and irony destroys our enjoyment of stories.

And my poisoned by Noumena brain rot mind, gave me some ideas of the direction of the story after Truth of the Divine.

Let's explore this!

First one, a 'positive and healthy', boring one - Cora tries to help Nikola and Ampersand, but they are too far gone. They do what their culture dictates and pass on peacefully. Cora is left to enter full adulthood as a formed person, a speaker for the (dead) aliens. Blah, I hate it! It does tie everything in a neat bow and even gives an opening for future instalments (because I don't think we will get planned 5 parts now), but I find it unlikely. It isn't sincire. Lindsay was always vocal against killing off 'damaged' characters as a redemption. She even said so in TotD content waring.

I read TotD a few times now and the ending can be interpreted as Cora and Ampersand finally meeting in the middle but... But sometimes I feel like it's a relapse. It's written from Cora's POV and we can't fully trust her positive emotions. It could see it as a parallel to Kaveh's alcoholism - a toxic relationship is like a drug. Kaveh tried to help Cora overcome her addiction, but he's gone now, and she is back at square one. She used Kaveh for sex at the beginning - one well of affection dried up and she tried to secure another. But he, in his perfection stepped up and showed Cora how a healthy and mature relationship looks like. And I really think this is Kaveh's function in this book - to teach Cora about love. And that why he has to exit the stage, just like a mentor in hero's journey. He is a moral compass in the book. But when he encouraged Cora to explore her relationship with Ampersand, I'm still not sure if he really meant it, or he was aware that he couldn't help an alcoholic by just telling them to stop drinking. It all comes down how Ampersand and Cora's reunion should be interpreted. I think the bad ending would still be very interesting, if very emotionally taxing turn of events. I like to watch a good train crash, but I like those characters. I want them happy. If Cora and Ampersand continue to make each other miserable, it would go against the theme of the series. Nikola would die and Ampersand would die with him, leaving Cora alone with a string of deceased partners. It would mean that communication between species is futile and Superorganism was right all along. Humanity would burn. It would be cynical and Lindsay has been clear that she despises cynical storytelling.

And here is a possible !!gigant spoiler!! for the whole series: in her mastodon post, Lindsay said that humanity is spared by the Superorganism (because they don't have Twitter in this universe lol, check it yourself https://mastodon.social/@lindsayellis/109853608377077218 ). So a first half of the (potentially) good ending is (possibly) guaranteed. It won't happen if Cora, Ampersand and Nik don't cooperate. And they can't effectively cooperate if they are on a brink of unaliving themselves. I'm still not sure what will exactly happen, if I knew I would write it myself but I have high hopes. And watching Lindsay's last videos only cemented that hope. Again and again she hammers down her point about the sincerity, even if the story is clishe or sappy. Those videos were written in tandem with Apostles of Mercy and it would be so jarring if it said something opposite.

Based on all information available, my speculative outline of the Apostles of Mercy would look like that:

1. Cora tries to help Ampersand and Nikola to heal their minds. It's hard.

2. Cora and Nik bond over their feelings for Kaveh and Amps.

3. They encounter a pod of benevolent transients, who give us a different perspective on Superorganism and Amygdaline nature. They have resources to provide Amps and Nik a true therapy. (Lindsay said that we will meet transients.)

4. Amps, Nik and Cora form a phyle.

5. They are able to communicate by high language, fully confirming that humans are persons by Amygdaline standards. (High language has to happen. It's much more interesting that way. Also this would give us an unfiltered Amygdaline perspective)

6. There is a mental show down with Autocrat, something like Ender's Game.

Add some shenanigans with Sol, Luciana, propagandists and some evil Nils' shit.

Are those all possible options? No. Maybe I'm completely wrong and it will be something completely different? I hope so. I hope Lindsay will deliver an incredible, SINCERE book, that will move as all, just like Axiom's End and Truth of the Divine did.

I desperately want to be this series' Bigolas Dickolas, so we will get all 5 😭

Yes! Always! I might be slow sometimes, but I always respond to a comment. I appreciate them so much. It always makes my day to know someone else besides me enjoyed a story I wrote. I also just love talking about my stories.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hahaha, I write so many sad and angsty things. I normally try to make a happyish ending cause I know people enjoy that (not sure if I always hit the mark, but I try). So this one took me a while to dig through stuff. I think it would be Foolishness? It's pretty sad and tragic. I enjoy it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I live in the bitter-sweet and I don't think I have many that are purely happy. I feel like the happiest of endings will not be published till next year though. I think The Valley Kingdoms is pretty happy. Even if in my mind it's not an end more like a middle, but it is the end of that part of the story.

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

No, not yet.

9. Do you write smut?

Yes. So much smut.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Hehe, I write crossovers of my own stories. But no not of fandoms.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of as of now.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, I've had two fics translated, and I am beside myself with joy that someone wanted to take the time to translate them for others. Wine and Dine is available in Russian as well as some of Learn (I believe they have only done up to chapter 5 of Learn on Ficbooks)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Nope, not yet.

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

I swoon for Spideypool every single time, forever.

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Dude this question is evil right now. I am currently trying desperately to empty my drive of my WIPs (not counting my multi-chapter fics) before switching how I store my stories. I still have so many not-posted works, and I want to finish them all. But, I know I won't. I probably won't finish Once and Future Soulmates. It's an angsty sci-fi meets fantasy Merthur idea I started writing that has a few chapters written, but it's a big project and idk I just haven't gotten to it. As far as posted WIPs I plan on finishing them all.

16. What’s your writing strengths?

World building and that blend of happy sad. I think I'm pretty good at that

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Word choice and like lack of repetition with body movements. I struggle with body movements and tracking.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I typically don't, other than like phrases I know. Writing in character dialogue is hard enough, to be completely honest.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Lord of the Rings! I still have some of it posted on my Ao3 but my old drives and the internet ate the rest of the story and my prequel ;-;

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

It would be a tie between any of the Monster Eater Verse fics and the Common Deadpool Distractions series. I love those verses so so dearly and I re-read them often.

I've had this post sitting in my drafts from around the middle of December, since it had gotten to the point where I'd basically done no substantial art for a good few weeks; and now staring at this post again at the end of December with an unfinished commission on my iPad that I'd hoped I'd have done by the end of November - I thought it would be a good idea to logically think about how to deal with things in the near future, and subsequently make a decision which is painful but also the right one for me right now.

Things aren't really going well currently, alongside a few medical issues in the family, and work and not sleeping well being the sorta base problems I've been dealing with for a few months, I've not exactly been feeling much of anything recently and it's just getting worse. Anxiety and depression is a general thing that I've lived with for years, but right now it's just kicking my ass in a way I haven't experienced before and I'm floundering so much, I'm just floating through days and barely remembering them, and I'm aware I'm disassociating a lot of the time and I feel like I'm drowning-

So I need to step back from art, to take at least one thing off my plate so I'm not extremely stressed over something I thoroughly enjoy.

FYI There are event prizes that I will 100% honour, those aren't going to be put aside. And the two commissions I have going right now will be continued till completion.

Yet as for general commissions and my own art overall, there's no motivation there. I hope to hell there will be a love for it soon (and dammit I'm sure there will be) but right now I'm not exactly enjoying much at all, art is just a thing that I usually love so much - it's what I use to relax, I used to do it for hours in a day and love every second and now, I think I've done maybe two hours of it over the past month overall?

Know that I am so, so damn sorry, god I just hoped that I'd be better by this time but I've never felt worse - I'm so sorry that I'm having to step back from commissions that people would have been excited for, I'm sorry that you've trusted me with your lovely ideas and I'm just not able to provide them anymore

If you do have a commission slot with me, and are willing to wait until I eventually decide to open my commissions again, then do message me and I'll put you on a list for the first slots I have available when I reopen them

This will definitely not be forever, I promise it won't because I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have art in my life. But consistently telling people that I'm unable to honour their commission slot as a new month rolls around is in no way fair, not when there are many artists that have their commissions open and can provide a service that I'm currently unable to give

I'm going to spend an hour or so getting in touch with those who have commissions with me and giving some big apologies, but this is just an umbrella post to keep people looped in as to why I'm probably not going to be active much with posting art or the like, I'll be back, I will, but I need time away from things and I'm very sorry

This was very long winded, whether you read it or not, thank you so much for just enjoying what I do! It always means the world to see the support I have for my art and I'm sorry I have to let you down like this

I'll still be here, active over socials, just a lot quieter, and hopefully getting better

I hope you all understand 💙 love you all, and again, I'm extremely sorry for this situation 💙💙

WIP Wednesday, Magic Shuu yet again

So, my muse really likes this idea and wants to run on and on with it, which is fine, but I'm going to take it one work at a time. That doesn't mean I don't have plans though.

List of works:

1 - Magic Shuu, based off season 1 of Sailor Moon.

2 - Magic Shuu the movie, based off the filler created with Ail and An and the Makai Tree

3 - Magic Shuu R, based off the rest of season 2 with Wise Man

4 - Magic Shuu R the movie, based off the Sailor Moon R movie with the evil flower lady

5 - Magic Shuu S, based off season 3 of Sailor Moon focusing on Saturn

6 - Magic Shuu S the movie, based off the Sailor Moon S movies focusing on Luna and the ice queen

7 - Magic Shuu Super S, based off Sailor Moon Super S focusing on Pegasus and Mini Moon

8 - Magic Shuu Super S the movie, based off Sailor Moon Super S the movie about dreams

9 - Magic Shuu Stars, based off season 5 with Sailor Galaxia

The "movies" would be much shorter than the works based off of entire seasons and I may call them something different than "movies", but I haven't decided yet. Maybe interludes, since the movies don't always line up with what's going on in between the seasons, or something else entirely. I also have plans (at least for Magic Shuu S) to make an "opening/closing" video to go with the season based fics at the end instead of my usual credits. No idea if I'll be able to go through with it, but in the case of Magic Shuu S, I'm gonna have a hard time not doing it, so I sincerely hope I get at least to that point.

Added later: have an opening planned for Magic Shuu Stars now. Fully planned out like Magic Shuu S.

I'm also considering going from Magic Shuu straight to Magic Shuu S instead of doing all 9 works because I haven't planned much out for season 2 of Magic Shuu, but we'll see. Anyway, if I pace myself and it all works out, this could be like a 9 year project. For fanfiction. 😑 My muse drives me insane sometimes. Oh, be aware that I'll be using other fandom references occasionally. I can't specify what, but for example, me borrowing Terada-sensei from Cardcaptor Sakura. This will happen and they will be more involved then simply mentioning them in the future. Other fandoms will be used, but I'll make sure to point out the references in the end notes and make sure that you don't need to know the fandom going in.

The long plan doesn't surprise me. I plan on following the Life in Retail/Kristmas Karma universe for at least 4 years so I can get through the first year in college, and I also have other interacting fics planned out for each year along the way. (Two of them story driven, the rest are one-shots.) But I can explain that in another WIP Wednesday. 😏

And then there's my whole Krystar series. I really wanted to release one book a year, but maybe it's for the better that I improve my fanbase a bit more so it performs better. The Krystar series consists of 12 books in total, by the way.

So yeah, the length of the plan doesn't surprise me. Doing it at the same time as everything else does. But whatever. My muse clearly knows I'm a workaholic and plans on taking full advantage of it.

And then there's the 7 works of Pandora's Box...

it feels like i'm trying to keep an hourglass together with sand-weathered bone.

it's, god, it's - it's no fault of my own, you assure me, but still. the failing's entirely personal, i hope you're aware. as personal as personal gets. fundamental to my personality, to the core of my being-

i act so little. i'm sure you've noticed, haven't you?

i tell you so much but explain to you so little. i make grand promises then never keep them. i have these gestures pictured in my head, down to the day, minute, second, and the time comes and i'm a blushing mess unable to do anything but wait for you to devour me. most of the time you don't. you shouldn't. you deserve more.

sometimes you do. and that's what scares me, really. most of all.

the most illuminating thing about the past month or so, i suppose, is that now i have the rare few confidants who i can both trust to not eliminate me and i know for a fact know you very well. and they tell me i'm important, to you. someone of value. someone you trust, no doubt due to whatever parasite i've used to cling onto you.

i still don't know why. and it's not enough. it'll never be enough, because i'm empty and i'm hungry and one day i'll collapse under the weight of all my loathing. but it's off-putting. horrifying. even though i know it won't last.

i'm not the most important person in your life. not in the least. i know who is, and i know i'll never be able to be that to you, because i haven't the right body type and we haven't known each other so long and i'm fairly certain you're not even into girls that way and i can't, can't, can't be so assertive as that. i'm the kind to lie down, look pretty, and wait. and you're the same. so you should get to have that slice of happiness, stop me from being so selfish as to deprive you of even that, force you into a role you've never wanted.

honestly, i'm probably, oh, not even in the top five? the one who's convinced she doesn't exist loves you, by the way. more than anything.

but, ah. the idea that i could be half that. a quarter, even. a fraction as important to you as that, a half of a half - it's intoxicating. it's more power than i ever should be allowed to have. it's more power than i could ever deserve. to think that i could be even that much - frightening, frightening, frightening. it's like i'm holding a heart of glass.

ah, but it's a beautiful thing, and i don't want to look away.

i don't have a future with you. i wish i did, crave that desperately, yes. every night for the past few weeks i've dreamed of the two of us waking up in the same bed and having the most horribly mundane day together imaginable. unquestioned domesticity. but that's not something available to me. it's not, and i know full well why, and it's because we both want the exact same fucking thing and you're not too picky to keep yourself from getting it.

i want to, though. i really, really want to. i've never wanted anything less than for us to grow old together.

so i'm sitting here, sand slipping through my too-thin fingers, trying to clutch as much of it to my chest as i can, because i know i've only got a few more months where i'll be able to trick myself into thinking every day could be this comforting and right before all of this is gone.

you're my best friend, you know. always will be, even once this imagined winter romance comes to that abrupt end, even once you finally get to live the life you've always sought.

i wonder when it is i'll get over you.

Week 7: asset creation and prototyping

Current status: development phase

What I have done:

Make assets for my project in blender

Bird character update

researching and testing out features I want in unity.

How did it go? how do I feel about it? what can I do?

Environment :

During this week I took a break from animating and preparing my bird character for unity and instead focused on creating assets for my environment.

I photographed some flowers from my garden for some inspiration when I creating my assets. While I intend to go for a more stylised aesthetic for my environment I still want to draw inspiration from nature.

I still have a few more assets to create for my project such as more types of trees, rocks and other types of foliage to flesh out my scenes. The amount of work I made so far is enough for a prototype and to give a rough idea of how my project will look. Early on I made three different concept renders of possible environments. I have yet to settle on a singular on but intend to incorporate some aspects from each of them. [I will place the original concept renders below]

Personally, I am struggling with creating environments for my project and perhaps will look for some more inspiration in how 3D artists and video games make their environments to help me with environment development.

Bird update:

I have finally animated and coloured my bird character for unity. There are still a few more animations I still need to make and have yet to test if it works in unity. My bird was a distraction for me to focus on when I get frustrated with environment development. But ultimately I moved back to environment creation when I got frustrated with my bird character. I'm still figuring out a name for them. I have gotten comments of it looking like a duck, chicken or pigeon and many people asking what type of bird it is. Which I reply " it's a bird, with an identity crisis." or " it's stylised to fit with my environment." but to be honest the birds is a secondary feature that will mostly featured roaming the environment. Depending on how much time I have or how well I can figure out how to use unity, I would like the bird to be intractable. With dialogue such as:

"Hello!"

"How are you today? [a number in put is available for user to interact with from 0 - 10 to indicate how they are feeling]"

"If you need me I will be here"

"I can't fly with my small wings but I have strong little legs to walk around with."

"welcome back! Ready to start painting? I'll go find your brush!"

Personally I would like to have my bird Interactable as I think it would comforting but I am aware of my skill set and will have to settle for it to roam in the background or not appear at all.

Unity update:

After following and tutorials on how to create a drawing program or the very least a white board in unity. I noticed a majority of the videos required script writing. I have very little experience in any form of coding including C#. I have noticed allot of unity users tend to use visual studio/visual studio code or Jet brains rider. It took me a while to decide which IDE software to use but eventually chose Jet brains rider due to the following reasons:

1. the tutorials I watched they were using rider

2. my computer meets the system requirements for rider

3. visual studio/visual studio code won't support Mac from next year onwards (I use Mac specifically and Might want to continue using unity and writing scripts in the future and not wanting to have to change half way through next year)

I followed a tutorial on youtube on how to make a whiteboard in unity, to simulate drawing in reality and was following the way they wrote their script. The images above are the script I wrote based off the tutorial. However, It is incomplete and comes up with lots of errors due to my lack of familiarity and skills with unity and the IDE I am using. I'm still inexperienced and perhaps need to start with some more skill level appropriate C# tutorials before further attempts. In the mean time I am making more assets and learning C#. I was too eager and overestimated my self and skipped the basic tutorials because I wanted to focus on what I wanted to make first. But I am now aware that I need to slow down, take a step back and reevaluate what I can and can't do before continuing.

I currently feel a bit overwhelmed and burnt out but I'm trying to push through. I do find that when I'm stressed or need a way to focus I tend to doodle my little bird which helps me think and makes me feel a bit better. I hope I can include them and share the same effects they have on me to everyone else.

I feel to utilize the four steps of problem-solving approach in your own life. You might to see specific benefits in your own life for example for me. I would think of ways to upgrade my relationship's ability also to consider new ideas. Also, business like to see critical thinking abilities also to consider new ideas is a good thing I feel. I feel work on more business-like like critical thinking I feel show you different options and different side of things also different thinking. Different skills like rationale, inventiveness, strength, creative mind, parallel reasoning and assurance. I feel they are essential tools for both your personal life and work if you are like me and don't currently have a job. We can identify opportunities in the in the environment, take advantage of them so you could control your future through problem solving. I feel both individuals and organizations require problem solving and the ability to do so. By doing these will help me succeed in personal and professional speaking.

What are some symptoms you recognize in yourself when you are stressed? How might you be able to reduce and work through stress?

Some of the symptoms I recognize when I'm stressed is I sweat a lot I don't know why but I tend to sweat a lot when I'm nervous or stressed. I also my breathing gets really heavy. I get focused and I get over excited over nothing and I let little things distract me. For example, like my phone going off when I need to focus on my schoolwork. OR everyone not respecting my boundaries and that my schooling is important to me and that I won't always be available when they want me to. Also, when I'm stressed, I lose my train of thought and my focus is not there. I also would have a hard time recall certain information therefore i get irritated and I Snapp at everyone around me which is not a good thing. I also have a feeling of dread like I won't succeed. How do I reduce and work through stress. One thing that helps me with stress. Cleaning the house, working on goals, spending time with my boyfriend and family, play on my PS5 it helps me work through my stress. I also have a list on my Spotify so I can listen to my music or any motivational podcasts that might inspire me. These things help me with stress and let me know it's not impossible. Even with stress in my life I can proceed.

Some implication of stress in my personal and professional life is. For example, stressors can distract you and others as well as co-workers that you are around every day or fellow employees by causing physical, emotional, or Behavorial issues can affect in your professional life. Mental awareness can be from stress making it hard to work with others or to be focused for that matter it also makes that you could possibly lose your job because you not working well with others. How reducing stress affect goal setting and goal achievement by reducing stress in your life will help you be more focused more driven because you see by reducing the stress in your life help be more focus for your goals so you don't feel you fail, and you can achieve it That always help me in the long run.
